Solved problem with lack of cellular network menu but..

After restoring my Iphone 4 three times, I was finally given the option of installing a carrier from my phone operator. As advised on this page I disgarded it, and my Cellular data menu was visible. BUT everytime I connect my Iphone to my computer it asks me to update the carrier! Will I loose the menu again if I update, or do I have to disgard this update every time?

[Solved] Problem with network

I have a problem with setting up my network configuration, when I run /etc/rc.d/network start I get the following SIOCADDRT: Network is unreachable. I have a Realteck RTC 8168/8111 and load the following modules: 8139too, 8139cp and r8169.

I have a Fireware port on my computer. I blocked eth1394, ohci1394 and ieee1394 from loading. Now when i run ifconfig eth0 I get:

It looks like there is something strange with the fireware port and eth0, can someone help me?

It seems to me that this is a driver problem.
Just to get out of doubts do this:
1. type ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.30
2. type route add default gw 192.168.1.1, eth0
3. echo "nameserver xx.xxx.xxx.xxx" > /etc/resolv.conf
IMPORTNAT: The above assumes you are using a LAN with a private address of 192.168.1.x
You should adjust these numbers accordingly based on your LAN settings.
In step 3 the nameserver is the address of one of your nameservers.
This will set up your card with a static address. If this works then dhcp is not working on your network.
Also if this works ifconfig will give you a totally different response than what you currently get.
Finally step 2 is the green address of your router, so you can connect to the internet.

IPhone has constant problems with Computer-To-Computer network

I use a Computer-To-Computer network to connect my iPhone with my MacBook Pro when I'm at the office. This enables syncing of Things and OmniFocus between my iPhone versions of these programs and the versions on my MacBook Pro. I have one of the original (2G) iPhones. I daily go to my Airport icon on my Mac's menu bar, click on Create Network, and set up a password. I'm using 40-bit WEP.
This sort of syncing procedure worked fairly well until iPhone OS 3.0. Ever since then, it's been completely unreliable. I've tried changing the channel a number of times, and of course rebooting both the iPhone and the computer dozens of times. It's still a problem.
Anyone heard of this networking problem with 3.0? Any info appreciated! Thanks.

yes, i have been having problems with computer to computer networking to iphone as well. for now, the only thing that keeps a steady connection is removing the sim card, so keep a paper clip handy.

well it seems that there was something wrong with my .zsnes folder, i deleted it (well first i made a backup of it) and i can run zsnes again.

well, it seems i got a problem with opengl and my catalyst driver (but i'm guessing because i haven't tried with radeon) because i can use it without opengl but as soon as i change the video option to use opengl it crashes with the same error (zsnes: xcb_io.c:515: _XReply: Assertion `!dpy->xcb->reply_data' failed.) should i file a bug report or something???

You need to do as provided. If no change after restoring as a new iPhone or not from the backup, the iPhone has a hardware problem.

I purchased Microsoft Office for Mac through the Apple website.. I have downloaded all from the disk into my Mac, no problem with all the other Word etc, but Outlook is asking for the key number: I have put it in but its obviously not the right one...????

unfortunately - you can not. you can't even buy outlook by itself at microsoft's own website.
does it have to be outlook? maybe you can get away with using something else that's outlook compatible.
how about trying Thunderbird for Mac OS?
or maybe you can call apple and let them know you purchase the wrong version - they might give you a break and just pay the difference for the home and business version.

Problems with lack of connection between macs on a network.

For about a month i've had both my macbook and Mac Pro connecting fine over my network but suddenly they don't recognise each other.Is this a problem with my proxie settings within the Network Settings??.Sorry if this question is answered on the forum but i can't find it.

If the endpoint doesn't answer the first call, the expected behaviour should be that the TP server tries dialling again as many times as you've set in TMS, but it's only trying once for me.
This might be of interest to you, why TMS might only dial out once to an endpoint, see my reply near the end of the discussion.

Problem with 2 computers Airport network

While long time comfortable with Mac, I am novice with Airport/network.
I have a MacMini (with Airport card) and a new PowerBookPro (15" 2.2 Intel Core 2 Duo and Airport card). I have new Airport Extreme Base device and I have successfully set up wireless internet connection for both computers.
I have also successfully through Airport set up so my mini connects with MBP/sees the MBP on the Mini desktop, etc..
My problem is that I haven't done the +correct rain dance+ so that the MBP connects to see my Mac mini on the MBP.
No clue what is being done wrong, except: In Finder of Mini under Go --> Network the MBP is listed and I then connect through steps of that window.
However, on the MBP Finder under Go --> Network, I just get a "flash" and no menu window is displayed at all.
Strange to me that computer network gods are so easily accommodating one way (Mini connects with MBP via Go/Network) and totally absent in reverse (no connect of MBP via Go/Network with Mini).
I hope someone can guide me through the correct ritual so that the 2 computers can go both ways. TIA.

I solved my problem!
Looking in other discussion forums, I found workaround for the fact that when on MBP/Finder/Go/Network all I got was a flash and no window.
The recommended solution worked! To simply logout and then login on that MBP. This restored the Go windows and Network window showing my MacMini to connect with.
So now both computer go both ways.
