Hmm, i solved it by commenting some UUID mounts of NTFS filesystems in my /etc/fstab.

  • Iphone stuck in emergency mode after downgrade from 4.0.2 to 4.0?

iphone stuck in emergency mode after downgrade from 4.0.2 to 4.0?
Upgraded to 4.0.2 last night. Immediately, itunes would no longer detect my iphone. Decided I had to downgrade back to 4.0 again. Learned I cannot do that easily, so i found a .ipsw file of firmware 4.0 online, and downloaded it. Started up my iphone attached to itunes in restore mode, held down shift, and clicked restore button. Successfully restored the 4.0 file I had downloaded.
At the first boot, it was stuck in emergency mode. I even tried to restore the default itunes backup after that, it was still stuck in emergency mode.
Anyone know how i fix this iphone? I have no interest in jailbreaks, i am in a 2 year contract with AT&T.

omg, it just fixed itself! i installed a brand new itunes on my laptop (which has never had itunes app before)
plugged in my iphone, it detected it right away and said "activated"! my phone is working again and has its phone number back.
now i did notice that the 4.0 is indeed slow, so i do want to try going back to 3.1.3 also.

  • IPhone Stuck on Emergency Mode after Update

Need help on how to get my orginal iPhone 2G out of Emergency Mode only. Here's my issue and the solutions I've tried but so far none of it fixed my iPhone.
    Problem:
I have an original iPhone (which I kept from 2007) and it has been working just fine as an iPod (no cell service anymore) since 2008 until I updated the firmware to 3.1.3 two days ago when I synced it with iTunes. After the firmware update, it remained stuck on Emergecy Call mode ony.  I know that the orginal iPhone can only be activated with iTunes, but iTunes doesnt seem to recognize it - not even an info about the device can be seen.  So, I tried to restore it through DFU mode, but even after re-installing the firmware, it remained stuck. I tried it both on my Sony VAIO with Win7 computer and iMac with Lion.
    Solutions I tried:
    1. Took my iPhone to Apple store - and they can't unlock it, they said their iTunes version doesn't support the device anymore.
    2. Took it to AT&T - they can't unlock it either even after putting in a SIM card that's active from one of their phones.
I'm at a dead end on this somehow. Anyone who can give me a solution to this, I'd appreciate it a lot.
Just FYI, I'm using iTunes beta (10.5.1.25) on Win 7 and iMac  Lion and non beta iTunes on my Mac Air with the same result.
Will activating the iPhone back with service through AT&T solve this? This seems like it's the only way out? If I have to resort to that, I'll just have to cancel my service pretty much on the same day after activating it as soon as my phone unlocks. Somehow, I found it odd that Apple couldn't even unlock it. I don't remember reading anywhere that they will stop any kind of hardware support to their products.
Thanks everyone!!! Hope someone can help me with this.

It didn't activate after the update, so it is like a new phone. Reboot your computer, then follow the steps here:

  • IPhone stuck in emergency mode

    Hello,
I'm Shabnum and I've got a problem with my iPhone, I hope I can get some good advice from users within the Apple community. The problem is that my iPhone is stuck in emergency mode after I restored it. I restored it as I couldn't call anyone, I called Apple customer services and explained everything and they told me that I should restore the iPhone to its factory settings etc. Now, my iPhone has been stuck on the emergency mode and I can't access anything at all. I've made a backup of my iPhone via iTunes, is there any way to restore the iPhone with my backup which I created and is there any way to get out of emergecny mode? I've tried O2, Lebara and Orange sim cards but it won't let me activate my iPhone. It just states on iTunes "The carrier isn't supporter bla bla bla) I've done a lot of research on the problem and I haven't seen a single resolution, I hope that iPhone experts/professionals such as yourself can help provide a resolution.
    iPhone 3G.
    OS: I think it's 3.1.3
    Many thanks.

It depends: if the phone is under warranty then they will help you unless they discover evidence of the phone being hacked - this will invalidate the warranty and you may be stuck. Non-warranty repairs are possible at a price - best to go and find it. I have no idea how much discretion they have at the store but you had better take every piece of evidence regarding your purchase and maybe they can exercise discretion if the situation turns out not to be straightforward.
Only Apple can tell you for sure what the situation is. You may be able to recover a backup if they fix you up, but I wouldn't count on it - if it was made from a hacked phone then do not use it.

  • Iphone in emergency mode after trying to download 3.0 HELP!

I can't seem to finish the download of 3.0. Any tips? My phone is only in emergency mode and didn't take to the download.

I have the same problem. I have a 3G Iphone 3.0, I wanted to update to the 3.1 new version. I had problems with some apps. that's why i've decided to restore to the original factory version. the restore process failed and my Iphone is stuck on emergency mode. I don't know why. I had the 8.2 Itunes, i couldn't upgrade to the 9 new version therefore i had to eliminate completely the Itune and install it again. BIG Mistake. I have lost all information of my iphone there as well. Now i have lost everything and my Iphone still doesn't work. I have tried everything that I have found on forums. I won't risk eighter with jailthing. The same message appear on ITunes over and over again: "ITunes could not connect the Iphone because of unknown error." I am Tired after 6 hours. I give up. I think i'll go to the apple store and see if they give me a new phone.
This is the second time. The first time It was a miracle. It fixed itself. Today I haven't been so lucky. But I've learned that apple has a huge weakness with Iphones and Itunes, lock and unlock war.
I have to say I am really disappointed. Steve jobs is not doing his job. Bloody block & unblock war that doesn't have any sense. The only people who is suffering are people like us that just want to enjoy and use the bloody phone we've payed for. This market is not regulated. It 's the bloody wild wild west. Why people are so greedy...it's never enough.
    Next day...
I went to the apple store, they fixed in 3 minutes. My iphone is now activated. They said that probably is the low connectivity on the internet that could lock the iphone as the software couldn't download properly.
Unfortunately all my data is now lost. However I have downloaded the Stellar pheonix recovery data tool to get all the information tat I have deleted from the Itunes. for thois I will need an external disk drive to save all the recovered information. It cost me US$99.00. Lets hope i can get all my data back, contact, photos, music, etc...

  • My iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode after battery change?

my iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode after battery change, I decided to change my faulty iphone 5 battery as i was out of warrenty, I managed to chance the battery with no problems (I Think), when i put the phone back together and tried to power on with the power button, nothing happened.!  i connected to itunes and it powered on, displaying the connect to itunes screen (recovery mode) all was going well, the phone was restoring, the image of the phone restoring and loading up was displayed on the screen, when it finished it restarted but to show the connect to itunes screen again, it is stuck in the recovery loop. i tried the steps with holding the power and home button etc, none worked.! now when i try to restore, it extracts software but then, ' the iphone could not be restored, an unknown error occured (3194)' comes up, any ideas out there???? and Happy Christmas to Everyone ,

    Hello Andyoneill9,
It sounds like you are trying to restore your phone but keep getting an errror message 3194. I want to recommend the troubleshooting steps from this article named:
Error 3194 or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4451
    Resolution
Important: If you see one of these messages and need help updating or restoring your iOS device, Install the latest version of iTunes and try to update or restore again. After that, follow these steps if you need more help.
    Check your "hosts" file
After you've updated iTunes to the latest version, you can check the hosts file to be sure your computer can contact the update server. Use the numbered steps below if you’re on a Mac.
If you’re using a Windows computer, follow steps in this Microsoft support article, noting that resetting the hosts file will affect software services that rely on hosts file redirects. If you're using Windows on a business computer, consult your IT department to be sure applications will still work correctly after resetting the hosts file.
In the Finder, choose Applications > Utilities.
    Open Terminal.
Enter this command and then press Return:
    sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Enter the password you use to sign in to your computer and press Return. You won't see text appear in the Terminal window when you enter the password. Make sure you use a nonblank administrator password.
Terminal will display the hosts file. Navigate using the arrow keys and look for an entry containing “gs.apple.com”.
Add the # symbol and a space ("# ") to the beginning of the gs.apple.com entry.
Press Control-O to save the file. Then, press Enter when prompted for the filename and Control-X to exit the editor.
    Restart your computer.
Try to update or restore your iOS device again.
This is the first troublehsooting step to try, so there are additional things to try if needed you need them.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

hi, my iPhone5s is only 3 months old, it has been like a whole month now since it started crashing, displaying the blue screen of death, since yesterday it was in the loop of restart-crash, and now it is stuck in recovery mode after lots of times displaying blue screen.
I cannot restore it as phone continues crashing again with blue screen, when iTunes displays error 14 on verification.
help please, this phone is all the means of communication I have.

It's a hardware problem. That's it. You shouldn't bother yourself with this situation. Just see an AASP.

  • IPhone stuck in recovery mode after failed update.

Hi, I have a bad situation here... My iPhone 5 got stuck in recovery mode after I tried to update to iOS 7.1.1 from 7.0.4 and it failed (error code 6). If this was my iPod touch I would just restore it because all I have is music, but this iPhone has all my sisters graduation photos, important photos, important school documents, contacts, app data, videos from concerts. Etc. I was wondering if I could get the photos off the phone before restoring it, because they are important. I know I should've backed up my photos and made a backup of the phone, but I've been really busy with a lot of stuff. So I was just wondering if there is any way to get the photos and app data back. The app data doesn't really matter but the photos do. The device was not jailbroken or hacked in any way.
If you could help, tell me ASAP.
    -JP

When your phone is in recovery mode, it's like it crashed.  The only way that you can get it out of recovery mode is by restoring, and this erases all your data as well.
You can believe what you wish by "reading all over the internet".  This is Apple's technical support forum.  We do know what we're talking about.
since you have very important photos on your phone, why haven't you been importing them to your computer as soon as possible after taking them?  This is how the phone is meant to be used.  Keeping critical data on only a device which can be easily stolen, dropped and broken is just plain foolish.  Also, did you not back up your phone (as you should be doing with any computer) before attempting any operating system update?  As you've now just painfully learned, updates do not always go as planned.
I'm sorry for your data loss, but let this be a very important lesson.  BTW, when was the last time you backed up your computer?  I'm sure you have important data on your computer.  Hard drives WILL fail.
