Solving an Apple ID problem if I move to iCloud

After many years of being a Mac user, I still contend the most un-Apple like thing they do is the restriction process of Apple IDs. I might be wrong, and hopefully I am, but here is my current situation and how I'd like to change it.
1. I'm currently a Google Apps user (because I can use my own domain) so I now live in the Google Cloud. That said, now that I've switched from Android to the iPhone 4S and I'm about to get an iPad, I would rather just be "all Apple" (you'd think Apple would like this and make it easy for people to come back 100% into the Apple corral...but they don't).
2. My current (and only) Apple ID is my Gmail email address, as is my iTunes ID. But if I dump Google completely and move everything to Mail.app, iCal, iCloud, etc. I'll "forever" have to use my old Gmail email address as my Apple ID and iCloud login (I think I can change my iTunes one to my @me.com address, though...not even sure about that).
3 In a perfect world, I'd like to simply make my current Apple ID disappear and use my @me.com email address as my Apple ID for everything on iCloud and iTunes. One thing I will not do is move everything over to iCloud and then have to use an old Gmail address as my Apple ID for the rest of my life.
I'm sure I know the answer to number (3.) is "no", but thought I'd ask anyway, just in case there is some magic that can be worked. If not, does anyone know if Apple is ever going to change things to allow changing the Apple ID? I know there are thousands out there with the same issue...all you have to do is Google the problem. Thanks for any help or ideas.

@Winston Churchill: This is what makes no sense. (Bear in mind I already have an iCloud account and @me.com address). What I said in my original post was that I was going to get rid of my primary email (Gmail account) and move to using nothing but my @me.com email address. So you're saying I could change my Apple ID to a different email address than my current Gmail address...like [email protected]..and that would be OK. But I could not change it to my current [email protected] address? That is insane. Why would Apple not want me to use their own @me.com email addrress?
They already don't allow the use of other email accounts with iCloud (only my @me.com address) which says "...hey, we want you to be an Apple person, not a HotMail or Gmail person", but yet I can't change my Apple ID to my @me.com address.
One last thing, which might solve this. Can I change my current Apple ID (my Gmail address) to something that is NOT an email address (something more like a username)? Then could I associate the newly changed Apple ID with my iCloud @me.com email address? I just want ONE login for iCloud and iTunes, and have only ONE email address...that being my @me.com address.

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and click iCloud.
Make sure you’re signed in, and then select the Documents & Data checkbox.
Click the Options button next to Documents & Data.
Make sure the iMovie checkbox is selected.

Select the “Automatically upload content to iCloud” checkbox.
To turn off automatic uploading, deselect the checkbox.

Still problems with Apple id and emails after move to iCloud

After move from MobileMe to iCloud, there are still problems with apple id's and emails.
I'm trying to delete a mail (email1) from one apple id, but nothing happens?
And when i'm trying to add a email (email2), that i Know isn't linked to another apple id, i get the message that it is already in use with another apple id?
It's a problem when you use these emails with facetime, imessage etc ...

My iPhone 5 and 4 both are having no trouble connecting to the Apple store, but my iPad (4th Gen) cannot either connect to Apple store, nor stream music using iTunes Radio. Keeps asking for my Apple ID and password. When I put it in, it says that I cannot connect. If I put it in wrong, it tells me its wrong. Tried changing my password on my desktop PC. The iPhones handled change and continued to connect, but iPad is unable to connect still.
Any solutions would be appreciated.

From looking at the specifications of your camera (SJCam 4000), we know already what video compression your camera is using. It is H.264.
A H.264.mov file should be supported by Premiere Elements 11. On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer? And, are you running QuickTime and Premiere Elements 11 from a
User Account with administrative privileges? Please go to Premiere Elements 11 Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime to confirm that you find
presets there for the QuickTime choice there.
What are the properties of these H.264.mov files - is it 1080p30 (1920 x 1080p30) or something else? Do you know if this camera is recording with a variable or
a constant frame rate?
Please review and consider and then we will decide what next.

Problem streaming HD Movies to Apple TV through home network

Got my new Apple TV yesterday but has some quirks. The biggest one is I'm in the middle of watching an iTunes HD movie I own -- streaming it to my Apple TV on my home network -- and the video starts stuttering halfway through the movie. It was playing with no sound, the video was jumpy, etc.
I stopped the movie, unplugged the Apple TV, tried playing the movie again -- I did this a couple of times -- and same result. This issue didn't happen until about an hour into the movie -- for the first hour of the show it played perfectly. Just before the movie, I'd watched an HD TV show I downloaded from iTunes earlier in the day, and was streaming this to my new Apple TV over the home network, and it played fine.
The other issue I'm seeing is it takes a looooooooooong time to load my iTunes Library from my computer. I selected my shared library, and then it takes about five times (or more) as long to load the list of movies compared to my older Apple TV (the previous generation 160GB hard drive model).
Is anyone else seeing these issues, and is there a fix?

I am having the same problem streaming HD anything, Movies or TV shows. It seems to try to buffer more of the video than when using SD video anything. When playing SD anything, it seems to start playing very soon after pressing play.
My content is on a spring 2009 iMac
CPU 2.93 GHz
4GB RAM

Wireless N (G,B 2.4 GHz) No G or be devices on network presently not switching to N only because iPhone 3GS doesnt 'support N.

Any way of finding out how Apple will solve the Aperture / ACR problem?

Has anyone out there gotten any comments from Apple support or other people "in the know" about how Apple is going to solve the Aperture / ACR problem, and any potential time frame?
Of course, Apple is going to work on problems with its own RAW conversion; that goes without saying. But does anyone have any knowledge of whether Apple is going to open up the ability for Apple to send RAW, unconverted images to Photoshop, so that ACR can handle them?
I think knowing this now is pretty crucial. I am willing to live with the pain Aperture is going to impose on my workflow, in exchange for the file organization benefits it provides, IF I know that I'll be able to use Aperture with ACR soon (near term). But if Apple is going to just tinker with the RAW converter, and not attempt to send RAW files to ACR, then as someone else posted in another topic, this could be a long wait, and other companies have taken years to hone their RAW converters.
This is kind of my last-ditch effort to keep Aperture around, and build my workflow around it. If I know that within a month or two at the most, I'll be able to be using ACR directly when editing new versions, then I'll absorb the pain until then. But if I am looking at waiting six months for it (several man years), or riding out the process of Apple trying to get their own converter fixed, then as much as I don't want to, Aperture is going to get returned or hit eBay.
Does anyone have any idea on this? I've held up my projects for the past week trying to reorganize my workflow to work with Aperture, and I've got to pound the gavel, make a decision, and pursue a direction. Knowing what direction Apple is going to take with this makes all the difference in the world in what I do.

This "Open External Editor from Master NEF", versus open from a dynamicaly created version is, I have decided, crucial.
I am getting less clumsy with the interface, but I simply can not get all white balance, and noise reduction done on my best available light shots.
ACR in CS2, and a subsequent "Neat Image" scrubbing is excellent for this.
The automatic association within a stack, of the resulting flattened file would be a big difference. I agree a formal statement from Apple would make me more inclined to really commit to Aperture for all my work.
Going one step further, it would be nice to keep the layers on the round-trip Master file, even if you would work with a dynamicaly created version of the returned "master" within a stack. It would occupy more disk space, but would do so only for those images where the user has made a quality decision.

Problems whit renting movies in apple TV

I have problems with renting movies on my apple TV. When i have entert my CVV code, appel TV tells me to verify my payment information in iTunes Store. Everything seems to be rigt in iTunes Store. Anyone ho knows how to fiks it?

The limitation of approximately 200 titles has been discussed before, we can't be sure whether it will be something that gets fixed or not. I'm not really sure what your other issues are, if I use search instead of lists, I find whatever I want and am able to rent or purchase subject to those options being available for that particular title.

Apple TV problem- Netflix message not availabale at present etc. On Itunes playing a movie the sound stops and starts how can the downloading hurry up. On the computer all OK.

Netflix keeps posting not available- have restarted it as directed but still a problem. Itunes movies dont download fast enough and stop and start. On the Imac computer no problem with sound or viewing.

Randomly Apple TV can't play Movies/Tv shows and music.

I've seen other people having problems with this issue but with all my searching, have not found an answer and thought I'd share my experience in case someone has a solution or suggestion.
Our cable modem service comes into an access pannel in the bedroom closet. It goes to the Linksys WRT54G router, then to a hub which sends out to all the rooms in our house. Our house is new and pre-wired for ethernet in each room. It comes in the office, goes into another hub and then to the Mac Mini I have and to a NAS Lacie storage drive where all my movies, music and photos are at. We stream everything and only synk photos on the Apple TV.
Over the last couple of days, the Apple TV can't play movies or music for some reason. The errors I get with Movies/TV is "The selected video cannot be played." The format was not recognized. With music the message is "Apple TV cannot play the current song." I know all the movies and music work because a day before I just played I AM LEGEND and it worked perfectly.
I've got a couple of theories and wanted to float them by everyone. I use a Harmony 880 remote and when I select Apple TV, it turns on the ATV and then sets the inputs on the other items. When I'm done and select watch TV, it turns ATV off. Should the ATV stay on all the time? Could this be causing the problem?
I've restarted the ATV, the Mac Mini, the hubs, the cable modem, the router. Nothing brings it back. But if it sits for a while, a couple hours or so, then it's back. However, it just stops playing for no reason and the next day it might not work again.
I'm running iTunes 7.6.2 and I checked the ATV and iTunes and both say they are up to date on their software.
I could really use some help here. The frustrating part is the kids want to watch one of their movies for the 700th time and it won't play many time.

Oops----thinking of the light on the Airport!!! =-)
The status light is gray, so it is not setting off any "alarms", everything else is working, but when I go to watch a movie, rented or owned, it times out and resets itself. I ran a diagnostic and it said everything was working properly, I reset to factory settings and still had the same problem, and even reset the Airport to make sure it was not just the connection.
At a complete loss as to any other ideas to try to get her up and running again. No way am I going anywhere near an Apple Store with all the iPad hype that is out right now!!!!!!

Apple Tv is playing wrong movie.

Apple tv is playing wrong movie. Very strange. I select the movie or tv program I want to watch but it plays a completely different one. I have airplay on, if I take it off the problem stops but every time I pause then hit play a different movie or even music plays on my computer at the same time. It;s driving me crazy. Whats going on?

When it stopped playing, what happened. Did the screen go blank, the video just freeze or did it go back to the menus, could you otherwise use the Apple tv or not.

I want to digitize some of my movies into the MP4 format so I can watch it on my apple tv.
this is mostly children tv (thomas tank engine and so on). problem with dvd's is that we need to change often and they get worn. children do change their mind very often.
so, a digitized version in my Apple tv would be nice.

They are generally encoded at 1500 Kbps for video and 128 Kbps for audio and a resolution of 640 x 480 depending on the aspect ratio.

Does anyone have problems with iTunes movie rentals freezing in the middle of the movie, requiring a force quit, which causes your rental to disappear? This has happened multiple times to me recently. Last time Apple didn't refund my money after reporting the problem. I have been using iTunes for many years but am about to give up.

Correction: I was refunded for the previous movie freeze.

Is Anyone at Apple Noting Problems Installing v11.1.4.62

This new version seems to be causing an awful lot of problems, at least with Windows compatibility, I thought I had it all working properly after painstakingly following HT1923 to strip all Apple SW from my computer and re-install. This evening, problems began to reoccur in the form of no response from iTunes only fixed with a cold start. I just don't know wether or not to go back to a last November version which worked faultlessly and wait for this version to be fixed with something more stable. I am running Windows 7.
