Some of my photos are not displayed in events. The event is there and still named but photos won't display. Suggestions?

Some of my photos are suddenly not showing inside the event. The event is still present as well as the title and number of photos in the event, but the photo is not showing. I get a black thumbnail with a dashed white box inside it. Any suggestions? It has not happened in all events, only a handful.

That's an indication that the link/file path to the original file has been broken. Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Photos are not showing up in the edit menu

When I hit the edit button the photos all show up on the top of the screen but in the box they are not there to edit each individual photo. Please help, I need to edit my photos!

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help:
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Imported photos are not in sequence by the date

My photos imported are being inserted with photos that were taken several years ago. IN other words, they are not at the bottom of the viewing area, but toward the top!!!

I did not state the problem very well. My pictures I just imported, showed up at the bottom with the correct dates when I viewed them as "photos"; but when I choose to see Events; they show up with among other events from 2010 or 2009. WHY? This has happened with several imports in the last 2 weeks.

I'm having trouble after editing in PS where my photo are not added back to the current catalog

I like to use the "Edit in" Photoshop feature of Lightroom, but after moving to CC...My photos after saving them after correcting in PS are not returned into the catatlog. I've been having to importment the edited photo back into lightroom from the finder folder..I remember prior to CC my photos whould return to the strip with Edit.tiff, not any more..?

My photos are not showing up in the 'Open File' window

When I try to access my Aperture library through the 'Photo' button on the left hand column of the open file dialogue box, I see an option for aperture but it brings up an incomplete version of my library. There do not seem to be any other versions (or older versions) of my Aperture library floating around on my computer. Is this a refresh problem? Is there a way to force a refresh? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have had may similar problems lately, as I experiment with putting photos on my iPad and iPhone. (iTunes uses previews from Aperture, and the media browser (File -> Open) uses previews too.)
It seems that something went haywire with Aperture's preview generation in the last year. All I can suggest (from my personal experience) is to select all the photos you want, delete the previews, close Aperture, restart Aperture, regenerate the previews, close Aperture, restart Aperture and then do a couple different random things while waiting to figure out what happened.
I don't mean to sound unhelpful, but that actually is the set of steps I follow when trying to figure out what's wrong with my preview sharing.

E-mails sent from PC users the photos are not present

When opening some e-mails sent from PC users the photos are not present anyone have the same situation.

I have not had such a problem. Is the size of the message sufficient to actually contain photos, of might this be a case of embedded links to images on remote servers?
Under the headers, is there any list of attachments?

Searching Photos is not finding text in the description. Does it work for anyone else?

I am attempting to live with the forced upgrade to Photos from iPhoto.
Generally, the features are an improvement. But there are some things that just are not working.
I had an iPhoto library with excess of 32000 photos, in 3200 events.
Now events are non existent. I cannot create new ones... just choose from preexisting ones.
But I digress. My photos did have searchable text associated with them. Either in the title (from the event name), in the description, or from keywords.
As things are now, only keywords seem to be searchable. (via the Search block in the upper right)
Is anyone else having this problem? Why?
I don't want to have to make a "Smart Album" every time I need to find something.

I can enter text and it finds words in Titles, Filenames and Descriptions for me.
How long since you updated? Perhaps it's not finished indexing?

I am trying to access Administration and Help links in SLD. But when i click on those links getting " You are not authorized to view the requested resource." And I have assigned all SLD roles to my user.
And same message is coming when click on System Information in http://<host>:<port>/index.html page. Please let me know that anyother roles required for accessing SLD and System Information.

On our ipad 2, after upgrading to iOS 7, the photo album is completely screwed, and the saved photos are not displaying correctly. How do we get our photos Back?

OK, tried the reset and it seems to have cleared up some problems; however, the picture problem remains.
Maybe there is something further we could do in settings? My wife uses the iPad as her constant companion and likes to take screen shots (pictures) of recipes and such. She keeps them in albums. Before the update to iOS 7 they all displayed correctly regardless of physical machine orientation. Now, post update, when in landscape mode, which she uses 99.9% of the time, her pics do do fully display. By physically rotating the machine, they will appear correctly. We have noticed that there is a new "function" in edit pics for "aspect ratio."
Should we be using this? If so, she'll have to edit a very large number of pics. So I'm wondering if we're missing some new setting. BTW- this display problem also occurs with pics taken with the camera as well.

Some photos are not sorted correctly by date

I just imported some photos from my friends camera who were on the same trip. However, I noticed that a couple (not all) of his photos are not sorted correctly by date in the Event. A photo from day 3 somehow comes before the photos from day 2. I checked the extended information and the dates on the photo are correct. Has anyone had this problem and know of a solution? Thanks.

I have a big problem: Whan I make photos with the included camera in my iPad,
these photos are not displayed in the iPhoto app supplied with my iPad. I can't find
them.

After you snap the photo with the iPad, and that picture shrinks down to the corner, you should ba able to tap that little picture - and it should open in the Camera Roll in the Photos app.
I'm not sure what to suggest other than the basic, first try, troubleshooting steps.
Quit the camera app and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus (-) sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
