"Some of your Quicktime software is out of date" popup

I must have had an earlier version of quicktime installed on my computer, but I have updated to 7.2, all the patches etc.. And I get this error. I have gone as far as uninstalling all Apple components, deleting all refrences to Quiktime in the regtistry and reinstalling. The same messgae comes up in two seperate popups. The annoyance level in unbeliveable. Any assistance getting rid of these would be appreciated. I saw the question posted on the forum for an earlier release of QT and the fix was to patch it. I have even upgraded to PRO in an effort to get more support for this issue. Any assistance would be great.

I also am plagued with this problem. In case it helps anyone to diagnose this issue, here is how it started on my computer. It showed up immediately after installing Kid Pix Deluxe 3. During the install, the Kid Pix software said that I needed to install Quicktime to run the program. Since I already had the latest iTunes/Quicktime softare (v7.4), I chose not to install it (the Kid Pix CD had Quicktime 5). When I restarted my computer, it immediately brought up the "Some of your Quicktime software is out of date..." dialog box. Ever since, programs that access Quicktime in some way cause the "...out of date..." dialog to appear. As of yet I have not seen any solution that works; the recommendations to uncheck Flash files in the MIME settings and to uncheck automatic updates did not work for me. Uninstalling Kid Pix and repairing my Quicktime and iTunes installation do not fix the problem either. I have not tried completely uninstalling and then reinstalling Quicktime and iTunes.

After about 8 hrs of troubleshooting so far I need help here...please...I have a new ipod touch 3g (32gb) that requires itunes-9 and i have itunes-8. when i try to load itunes-9 i get the same error message about apx. half way thru the install. at the point of install status "initializing quicktime types" the error message comes up: "some of your quicktime software is out of date, You can fix this problem by updating to the latest version" with the choice to "cancell" or "do it now" and I have tried "do it now" many times and other times tried cancell but either way it just ends up coming back many times with the same error message and either freezes the computer or eventually after maybe 15-20 error messages stops but the unstall is frozen. I have already tried uninstalling quicktime, itues, etc and spent 1.5 hours on the phone with Apple support and they can't figure it out. Please help...I appreciate your support.

Some other application may have installed older QuickTime componentry on the PC.
First let's have a closer look in your \system32\ to see if we can find any misplaced componentry down there.
First, in My Computer go "Tools > Folder Options". Click the "View" tab. Make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and that "Hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked. OK out of the Tab.
Now navigate to C:\Windows\system32\. (It might be easiest to switch to "List" view at this point.)
What files or folders can you see in \system32\ with QuickTime in the title?
(On a PC with a standard QuickTime installation, you should see precisely two files:
    QuickTime.qts
    QuickTimeVR.qtx
... and no Quicktime folders whatsoever.)

  • Some of your QuickTime software is out of date. You can fix this problem...

I keep getting this error every time I start itunes or anything that uses QuickTime:
Some of your QuickTime software is out of date. You can fix this problem by updating to the latest version.
    'Cancel' 'Do It Now'
If I click 'Cancel', the program seems to run fine. If I click "Do It Now', I get the following:
Information received from the QuickTime server is in valid. Please try again later.
I have tried everything and have had this problem since December of '06. Anyone know what this is and how to fix it?

  • "Some of your quicktime software is out of date" Message

    Hi,
I have a problem with quicktime for which I would like advice. The symptom is that each time quicktime is loaded or accessed, there is a pop-up message box which says,"Some of your quicktime software is out of date. You can fix this problem by updating to the latest version." There's a cancel button, which I use nearly every time, and a "Do It Now" button. Note that I am running the latest version of quicktime.
When I use the "Do It Now" button, I get an error message pop-up which says,"Information obtained from the Quicktime server is invalid. Please try again later." I don't use quicktime stand alone for anything, so I don't really know if it's working OK. It seems to be, but I've not done a thorough testing. The dominant symptom is in iTunes, where I experience lock-ups. I spoke with an Apple technical support person for a while about it, and we (re)did the compulsory uninstall, reinstall stuff to no avail.
The Apple guy pointed me to an Apple website detailing some methods to fix various problems with iTunes/quicktime. (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976) I have tried everything there. One of the things was an experiment to try to detect interactions with other programs. Using MSCONFIG, I did a custom start-up which enabled nothing but quicktime. No change. I have removed (ctrl-panel->add/remove programs...) many of the programs which were installed. No change.
    Questions/Comments?
    Thanks for any info,
    jimmBob

I just got off the phone with an Apple technician, and we solved the error problem. Basically we just went through my whole computer searching for all quicktime and iTunes files that were left behind. Be sure to check your C: > Windows > System32 folder for ANY and ALL QuickTime files. The files we found that caused the error were hidden in a filed titled "quicktime" in the System32 folder. Make sure you delete it, uninstall all iTunes and QuickTime programs (including Apple Software Update and Apple Mobile Device Support) from the Control Panel, and reinstall the latest files for iTunes and QuickTime and the error should go away.
    Hope this helps!

  • "some of your Quicktime software is out of date,"  And then the fun starts

I get the "out of date" message frequently. If I select "do it now", I am usually told "Info received from the QT server is invalid. Please try again later." Occasionally, I'll get a Dialogue Box listing five Quicktime components. If I select Update, I get a message informing me that I don't have authority from the Administrator (ME) and a more privileged user will have to update for me.
In addition, attempts to use Apple websites and ITunes result in crashes of Internet Explorer. I can navigate thru Safari, though, and my ITouch syncs OK.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes and Quicktime several times but the problems persist, I even get the "out of date" message during the install process. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That sounds like there may be old misplaced QuickTime componentry lurking about in your system, Jack. Let's go looking for that.
    1. From the Start menu, click Open.
    2. In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
Now in Computer, open Local Disk C: or whichever drive your operating system is installed on.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
*If you have a 32-bit Vista:* Open the "System32" folder.
*If you have a 64-bit Vista:* Open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file or folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • Quicktime software is out of date - NOT!

I saw this question answered for XP, but I have Windows Vista.
For years now, when I open itunes, quicktime or even the apple website, I get the following... 'Some of your QuickTime software is out of date. You can fix this problem by updating to the latest version'. The choices given are Cancel or Do It Now. If I select Cancel, it closes and things usually function normally, or it may ask me again several times (asked me four times on the way to this forum). If I select Do It Now, it says Information received from the QuickTime server is invalid. Try later. This course of action usually freezes things up.
There must be part of an old Quicktime version lurking that I need to seek out and destroy. Apple support recently (Nov 29, 2010) assisted with an uninstall and reinstall of the latest version of itunes and quicktime for another issue I was having. itunes wouldn't open. I had hoped that would fix this too, but it didn't.
How do I seek out and destroy the offending files? Thanks

There must be part of an old Quicktime version lurking that I need to seek out and destroy.
Indeed. Let's go checking in the most likely location.
    1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
    2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
Now in My Computer, open your C drive.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "system32" folder.
What files and/or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file/folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • Some of your Quick time is out of date. You can fix this problem by updatin

I am running Windows XP SP2 with V 7.1.3 of Quicktime. Every time I lauch QT, I get the error message:
"Some of your Quick time is out of date. You can fix this problem by updating to the latest version."
I have gone onto Apple's web site and got the very latest I can see of QT, and no matter what I keep getting this message. I have 400 PC's in a school district that every time they lauch QT it gets this error. There are 2 tabs "update now" or "cancel". If we select Update now, it doesn't update because we already have the latest. So we just have to do "cancel". Has anyone seen this? Please help.

I posted a similar problem. I removed everything and in addition I removed two Quick Time files in System32. I reinstalled everything and it worked. For details read my posted problem and the solution

  • Continuous pop-up "software is out of date"

I recently updated Quick Time player. Now everytime I click on the icon for QT or any program that uses it, I get a pop-up message box that says "Some of your Quick Time software is out of date. You can fix this problem by updating to the latest version." I can cancel the box easy enough but it is annoying. If I select "do it now" for the update, I am taken back out to update again and I get another pop-up message box telling me my software needs updated. I have verified that I have the latest version of the player Version 7.5(861). What gives?

This can sometimes happen if there are program files from older QuickTime versions (or older QuickTime componentry installed by other applications) lurking about in your system.
Let's see if there's anything like that about.
First, open My Computer. Go "Tools > Folder Options", click the view tab.
Make sure "Show hidden files or folders" is selected.
Make sure "Hide filename extensions for known filetypes is unchecked.
    OK out of the tab.
    Now navigate to C:\Windows\System32\
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? In a standard QuickTime 7.x installation, there should be just two files (QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx), and no folders.

  • When i download an app its says Your credit balance is out of date.

I think this has to do with having a gift card balance. When I did not have a gift card balance, I was able to use the "update all" button. Then I redeemed an iTunes card and got the same message you did, but I was able to update each app individually. When I used up my iTunes balance and it was back to $0, I was able to use the "update all" button again.
The update process on iTunes and the iPhone is very buggy. I can't get any of my updated Apps to sync with the iPhone today. I hope they get this worked out soon.

  • Why do some sites say my browser is out of date (v 3.6) when I am using Firefox 17.0.1 and am on the release update channel for automatic updates?

In Facebook and while trying to access an online support mechanism at HP, I receive messages telling me that my browser is out of date. The HP site identified my version as 3.6, when I am actually using version 17.0.1. At least when I click on Help, About Firefox, it tells me I am using v. 17.0.1. Why does this happen? On the HP site, I could not fill in the online registration info as I was receiving javascript errors, along with the browser outdate error.
Even your own analysis below, sees my browser as v. 3. What gives?

Try the steps at [[Websites say that Firefox is outdated or incompatible even though it's the latest version]], your user agent is corrupted

  • Satellite A660 - 3D DVD software runs out of date or is secretly altered

Whats going on; why do I get lynched to pay an additional $59 for software to make my Satellite 3D work?
    Ok.
This probably sounds nuts; but my Toshiba Blu-Ray DVD software seems to have a DVD/Blu-ray prevention program in it. Preventing 3D and smaller issues.
It has been out of whack since I updated the software on the Toshiba site and when I updated the nVidia GTS 350M drivers.
That may be co-incidental to the problems which began in previous month/s; as I don`t always play discs on this laptop; so pinning a date when it went pear-shaped is harder.
But, after going through a nightmare (of not working on DVD or Blu-Ray on half my discs for months now); I installed the latest TRIAL ($59) Corel WinDVD 11 Pro player and everything (including 3D) works perfect again. But for 30 days only; until/unless I`m robbed of $59 additional that is.
    The problem is/was;-
3D only worked on half of my Blu-Ray 3D discs using pre-installed (and later updated) Toshiba COREL WinDVD media PLAYER. Sometimes it only played 3D side by side; 2 images. No 3D. Some Blu-Ray 3D discs were fine ODDLY. Region code not an issue.
Toshiba DVD 3D player/upconvertor program was the worst (not the SD version, I dont use).
Toshiba (HD) 3D player would not recognise half of my Blu-ray 3D laptop disc drive content. "DVD drive not recognised" error message.
Toshiba DVD player itself would not upconvert any normal DVD to 3D.
Toshiba DVD player would only play NORMAL 2D when running upconvert (no 3D).
Toshiba DVD player would only play HALF-SPEED DVD when upconvert was disabled. When trying to play a DVD in normal 2D mode.
All settings were tried and altered to fix the problem around a thousand times.
Software uninstalled and re-booted and re-installed a dozen times each.
I also had to un-install the software and re-boot and re-install the following;-
nVidia graphics driver (from nVidia sites own 295.73 and re-install Update to the `older` nVidia Toshiba 260.51 driver).
I used to be able to upconvert DVDs to 3D using this laptop; so it did work many months ago; but now that has all stopped for months now.
Its a pain as I have un-installed everything and re-installed all the relevant software from the Toshiba home page; but no solution for the problem without getting mugged an extra $59.
I hate computers for the ten-thousandth time.
    1 minute Ramble:-
Its the last Microsoft product I will ever buy (Windows Ultimate rubbish [had to buy a new A3 color lazer printer as no Win 7 drivers for my existing laser printer]).
SAMSUNG (3D internet TV) products from now on. No computers for ten years. Until the rats get it right and stop experimenting on my wallet. $10,000 on PC products in the past 5 years and still being able to do simple things like watch a 3D movie is a hit and miss affair.
I`m rambling....because a hundred hours reading on how to get it working again has scrambled my head.
    Spec
    Toshiba A660 3D laptop. Satellite.
    Windows 7 Ultimate. Updated.
    Intel i7 1.73Ghz
    Graphics is GTS 350M
4GB Ram (8-gig upgrade on order)
    Spare 550GB hard-drive space.
    Toshiba site; Bios updated.
Toshiba own DVD 3D player (doesn't cut the mustard) Version 4.00.1.08
Toshiba Corel WinDVD 3D player (doesn't cut the mustard) Version 10.0.5.822
The Nvidia graphics always works fine on the test background page; which makes me think software; but all the relavant software has been updated. Re-installed and re-tried a hundred times with different settings.
I thought the discs were the problem. But 50 DVDs not working in 3D up-converting, or faulty all by themselves? And half of my 3D Blu-Ray collection?
I wondered if these these problems are deeper than this one system. Whether there was a systemic problem somewhere (besides blaming the buyer end-user).
Toshiba assist line in one call was a guy who knew far less than me and had to ask someone advice for every single part of the call. 2 hours to tell me to re-install the software in a long, slow, bit-by-bit way, eventually. We done everything they can do to help. Now they seem to blame the discs and don`t have any answer.
Microsoft x64 Ultimate says its roger all to do with them on their helpline/e-mail assist.
    I tried nVidia to no avail;
Any ideas; do I bite the bullet and everyone eventually be forced bit by bit to pay for $59 software to get the thing working.
    Whats the beef?

    Hi
You wrote really long story :) anyway this is an user to user community Im not sure if I could clarify all these issue for you but I would try to share my knowledge with you.
But firstly it would be really interesting to know what Satellite A660-xxx do you have exactly?
You said that you have installed the Win 7 ultimate.
According to the Toshiba page the notebook was preinstalled with Windows Home Premium. The preinstalled WinDVD was a full version (not trial) and you have not to pay for this software. In my case I have not to pay for any software (except MS Office :) )
    you said also:
    > I installed the latest TRIAL ($59) Corel WinDVD 11 Pro player and everything (including 3D) works perfect again. But for 30 days only; until/unless I`m robbed of $59 additional that is.
So it seems that you dont use the preinstalled Win DVD but you have installed other version which was not preinstalledso you have to purchase such version if you want to use a full version of any software which is not part of Toshiba image.
