Restart the computer and immediately hold the Option key down.

Try deleting the account from the iPod and try reentring all the information again. A lot of times it is easier to reenter the information rather than trying to find and correct the error.
Try Googling for how to setup the email account for your provider on an iPhone. You can try for an iPod Touch but frequently that does not exist.

You have to respond to the verification email that Apple should have sent to you by clicking the Verify Now link. Make sure you check the email address you used to set up your iCloud account. This would not normally be an @icloud.com email address. Also make sure you check the spam/junk folder as well as the inbox. If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email.

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

I have attempted to restore my device now for 3 days, continually being hooked up to the computer, continually having to restart, continually having to power off and then place the device in DFU mode. I would LOVE to speak with someone from Apple, the only problem is to even begin to wait in line to chat with an Apple representative, I need my device's serial number to begin the lovely process of waiting in line. How do I A)-Get the device's serial number when it is locked? B)-Begin to wait in line without said serial number? I am beginning to think it would be much easier to just report the device as stolen, then contact my carrier and have them replace this device. Am I doing something wrong for it to take 3+ days to restore? It has the most current, up to date software on the device, why in the world would it take 3+ days to simply restore to factory settings?

If you open it to take out the battery from the iPhone then you forfeit all service for whatever reason from Apple in the future.
Have you attempt to connect it to your computer and then restore it from iTunes on your computer?

Someone changed admin password and even used Firmware Password Protection. I can not access CD boot, drive target mode and booting with 'command+s'. Now I can use only limited guest mode. Is there any way to reinstall OS or reset? Thank you.

I think it is possible to change the firmware password by changing the amount of ram installed.
Of course the ordinary password can be using the OSX install disk.

The only way I can sign out /off from iCloud is to uncheck everything that I wanted to keep in the cloud????

Skip the iCloud sign in for now.
Once you reach the home page, go to settings and sign out of FaceTime and Messages. This should also sign you out of iCloud.
Go to iCloud in settings and sign in with the correct Apple ID.
If that does not work
Skip the iCloud sign in
Go to Apple ID.apple.com and sign in
Change your Apple ID to the old one
Delete iCloud account on your device with the old Apple ID and the same password.
Go back to the website, change your Apple ID back to the current one. You will receive an email to verify the account. Verify first.
Sign into iCloud on your device with the correct Apple ID and password
