Someone stole my iPod then returned it but it's jailbroken and I can't get into it. Help?

About a month ago my friend and I got into a huge blowout and he decided it would be funny way to get revenge so he stole my iPod. I had suspected it was him because of the fight, but he denied it whenever I brought it up. A week ago we made up and we hung out last night where he revealed that he was the person that took my iPod. He told me that he would've given it back sooner, but his brother thought it would be a good idea to mess around with it and jailbreak it. Also, when he had it, the home button stopped working and I can only turn the screen on with the lock button. His brother had no idea what he was doing and now none of us can get into the iPod. When I hit the lock button, The screen is blank with no apps, just the picture I had in the background. The bar at tehe top is red and (from the right) says this: "CPT                (lock) 1/2 7:45         (alarm clock) 97% (battery)" When I slide diagonally from the CPT, a small menu shows up. It looks like this:
Airplane     Bluetooth    Brightness   Data
Location   Processes     WiFi
     More   Refresh  Dock    Respring     Power
v5.2      Wi-Fi IP Address: N/A
             Data IP Address: N/A
        Storage: 355 MB on / 16 MB on /var
            Available Memory : 145 MB
Help?

We cannot help with jailbreak devices.  Apple does not and tells us we cannot.
Even if it was not you.
We can tell you that very often you cannot restore a jailbreak device to factory default.  Your not-really-a-friend and his brother owe you a new devce, I believe.

I've twice tried to use iTunes match. It stalls in step 2. I've rebooted my iMac computer and it still stalls. Apple's taken the $25 but not delivered the service. Can I get some personal help? There are 12,733 songs, a few dozen of which are not going to be in the Apple music library because they are unique to my collection. Also, some titled "Track XX" and no artist. I assume these would either not upload or else just be uploaded. But, after an overnight of step 2, the iTunes match program was still on song number 7384 or 12733 (it was on that number for over 12 hours). Looking in the music library, activating the iCloud icon and status fields, there were hundreds of songs with the status "waiting."

After taking my late 2009 15 inch macbook pro to the apple store, the genius completely erased my computer and reinstalled the Mac OS X software, but the problem still persists.
I also took it to my college tech support center, they tried to take the ram out and reinsert it and clean up the dust, but the problem still remains.
I am able to use my computer in Safeboot mode (only)
Well it could still be a software problem if you installed a third party program after the OS X wipe and install, because by booting into Safe Mode it disables certain functions of OS X and hardware. Check for updates or problems for all your third party software, include everything, including menulets, System Preference panes, hacks and so forth.
If you restored any sort of software from backup like TimeMachine, it likely was corrupted data and now is returned.
If the college tech support found a lot of dust clogging the rear exhaust vents behind the fans, then likely the heat damage done to the machine has already occured and can't be reversed. Video cards are usually first to go, which Safe Mode does disable the video card somewhat.
Run through this list of fixes, it's systematic in nature, also has a Hardware Test to see what's going on
..Step by Step to fix your Mac
Too bad this is occurring to a mere 4 year old machine, but dust will do that. Here is the culprit that Apple doesn't tell anyone about.

  • I'm trying to download lion, i can see the icon but is says paused and i can't get it to start the download

I'm trying up upgrade to lion, but having issues.  Then icon is on the screen but it says paused and I can't get it to start the download

Ah, okay. This is a message that comes up when a developer has developed software for the Mac, but has not registered with Apple.  Apple does this to help keep viruses and malware out of your Mac.
To be able to run this, go to System Preferences and the General tap. At the bottom is the option to change this.  Select the section "All applications downloaded from:" and change it to Anywhere.
Just be careful what you install after this and only download from reputable sites (like Apple.com).
    Hope this helps!

  • I just PAID for Black eyed peas Time of my life and now iTunes says I can't put it on my iPod 5th gen ? What? Why? And how can I get it on my ipod?

I just PAID for Black eyed peas Time of my life and now iTunes says I can't put it on my iPod 5th gen ? What? Why? And how can I get it on my ipod? And if I can't put it on my ipod how do I get my money back? I registered my ipod on iTunes, why was a song I can't put on my ipod even offered to me? What a rip?

Because you can only synce with one iTunes library and you are switching libries by using the new computer. To nake this yyour syncing computer:
    - Move all the media(apps, music, synced video and photos etc) to the new computer.
    - Connect the iPofd yo the computer and bake a backup fo the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes doe not include media.
To move mdia to the new computer see:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer

  • I never set a passcode for my iPad but it is locked and I can't get it unlocked.  The "slide to unlock" does not work.  How do I get it unlocked?

I never set up a passcode for my iPad 2 but it is locked and I can't unlock it.  The "slide to unlock" does not work.  Any suggestions on how to unlock it?

You have to slide to unlock to bring up the keyboard if a passcode is set. If you can't slide then try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

  • I just downloaded my Leopord onto my Macbook and I can't get into my Gmail account. It almost loads all the way and then stops. Also Facebook wont load all the way or keeps reloading and wont stop. The whole page never loads.

My computer isn't loading everything fully on Safari now. I can't get into my Gmail. It just stops loading.

Ok, first thing, why are you doing anything with WAMP or XAMPP when you're running a Mac? MAMP should be what you want unless you're not explaining part of what you are trying to do.
2nd thing, I haven't used MAMP in a while, but there are two possibilities for not seeing what you want to see once you have MAMP turned on. One possibility is that you already have "Web Sharing" turned on in your Sharing Preference Pane. If that is the case, port 80 will already be taken and you'll be seeing the default Apache install (files are stored at /Library/WebServer/Documents/). This would push MAMP to either not turn on it's web serving capabilities, or to push it to another port. The other possibility is that MAMP defaults to another port anyway. So instead of localhost, you might have to type in localhost:8080 or something similar. I believe the control panel that gets installed can take you to the currently MAMP-served page, and it can also help you change which port your serving on.
80 is the default port for web serving and the ONLY port that will let you get straight to the server without having to type in webaddress.com:port# instead of just webaddress.com.

  • Someone stole my ipod touch while i was at school no tracker what can i do?

About a month ago my ipod touch was stolen. I have asked people on facebook and around school if they have seen it. I asked the front office if any one turned it in but they said no. What can ido to track it or something?

All you can do is report it to the police.  Also, change the passwards for all accounts used on the iPod.  Apple will not help.

  • With iPhoto i am getting an error message saying the the library needs updating but never actually does and i can't get my original library aback!!

my iphoto is saying it needs to update  i clicked this then i t can't seem to its on an external drive which has been fine  whats happening?anyone know whats happening  looks like a   a typical post apple update glitch to me

How are you connected to the drive?
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    THANKS

    Hi ..
If you can't remember the Passcode, you need to restore the device from the computer it was last synced with.
Instructions for putting the device in recovery mode > iOS: Unable to update or restore
"If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

  • Ive changed my account email and password on the pc but my old email is still showing on iphone and i can,t get into app store

how can i get rid of old email address on iphone to gain access to app store ive changed my email address and password on laptop but still showing old email address ive deleted that account

You can try contacting Apple here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
You do know tht if you created a new Apple ID - that is different than changing the Apple ID. Apps are always tied to the ID that was used to make the purchase. If the old ID is popping up, it seems like that ID is rid to the apps indicating that you created a new ID. Of course, I could be wrong or misunderstanding what you're saying as well.
If you go to Settings>iTunes & App Store, tap your old ID and sign out and then sign in with the new ID, that should be all that you need to do, if you changed the ID. If you created a new ID, that will not work.

  • I just upgraded my iTunes to version 11 on Windows 7.  I lost all my Playlists.  They are still on my iPod touch 1st gen, but not in iTunes.  How can I get them back?

I tried importing the iTunes Music Library.xml file, however it just duplicates the default playlists already in iTunes.  The playlists are still on my iPod Touch, just not in iTunes 11.  Therefore, I cannot manage and organize any songs into the existing playlists.  I do not want to have to go through and manually create the playlists again.  Any suggestions would really be appreciated!!  Thank you!!

    Hello.
I found my playlists.  They were never removed.  It appears that iTunes 11 shows them in a different place.  Which is kind of annoying.  Even more annoying trying to add purchased songs to the playlists on your iPod.
    - Click on the iPod button on the top right of your screen (beside the iTunes Store button)
    - Click Playlists along the middle of the top of the iTunes window
There are the playlists from your iPod
Kind of frustrating to add the songs, but the way I did it is:
    - Click on the song you want to add to your iPod playlist from your iTunes library
    - Click the arrow beside the song and select "Add to Up Next"
    - Go to your iPod playlists as per the above instructions
    - Click on the list icon in the same bar as the Apple icon on the top of the window (it is to the right of the apple     icon)
    - Now drag that song to the playlist(s) on your iPod
I am sure there is a much simpiler way....I just dont have time to figure it out right now.  If anyone has any simpiler way of doing this, please reply!!

  • HT201441 i have an ipod that has an email to it so i ask the owner from the phone but he doesnt know it how can i get into my ipod now? can u help please

how can i erase the email

No action on your part can remove the lock. The previous owner needs to release the lock. They can try to recover their password at http://iforgot.apple.com, or call Apple, provide proof of purchase that they are the original owner, and ask them to remove the lock.

  • Ipod touch 4th gen missing about 12 songs and I can't get them to sync back.

After syncing my ipod, about 12 songs are missing and won't go back on. I've tried to take my music off my ipod and then put it back on but those songs are still missing. All the songs on my iTunes are checked. The music settings in iTunes for iPod says sync entire library and that's marked. And the songs are still on my iTunes... just not my iPod.

Try unsyncing and resyncing all of your music.  To do this, remove the tick mark next to Sync Music from under the iPod's Music tab and click Apply in the lower right hand corner. This will remove all tracks from the iPod. When it has finished, re-apply the check mark and again apply the changes to resync all music back over to the device. Make sure that Sync Entire library is still selected and that Sync only checked songs and videos is NOT selected.
    Any luck there?
Where are you getting the total number of songs at on both iTunes and your iPod Touch?
