Songs are playing partially

I am having problems with Itunes on my Iphone 5, Itouch and Ipods.  The songs cutoff mid-song and will not play entire songs.

Hey ToddBaum,
I found the following resource that may provide more information:
Songs in iTunes may not play back completely
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4357
Occasionally, if a song purchased from the iTunes Store on a Mac or PC was not downloaded completely, the song may not play back fully. The song may abruptly stop during playback, and iTunes may start playing the next song in your library or playlist.
Resolution
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, try the following steps to resolve the issue:
- Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.
- Click on the Purchased link in the iTunes Store to view your previously purchased music.
- Download your previously purchased song from this list.
Once you have redownloaded the music, you'll want to replace what is on your device with the new music. I would advise you to uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes (so there is ultimately no music syncing to your iPod touch).
Once you have done that, recheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes once more. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from your device, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.
For information on songs that skip, see this resource:

  • Downloaded an album, some songs only play partially

Just downloaded an album, one of the songs only plays partially and skips to the next one.  First time I've had this problem - any solutions out there?  Thanks for taking the time.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Is anyone else having issues with "skipping" while the songs are playing?! It is very aggravating to us... and we've had it going on for several months now.  Any ideas at all how to fix it?

  • Phone reboots when certain songs are played on the music app?

on my iphone 5c, if i try playing certain songs in my music app, they play for a few seconds and then my entire phone reboots. i have a lot of music on my phone and all of the songs that do this are from the same album. it also didn't start doing this until after i updates to ios 8. i've tried looking elsewhere to see if someone else has had this problem but i've come up empty. its really inconvenient because i can't even listen to those songs now. i've also noticed that its only when i have headphones or an auxiliary cord plugged into my phone.

    Hi princessruto,
If you are having issues with your restarting when certain songs are played through headphones, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPhone -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • ITunes Match is having errors d/l songs to my iPhone 4s. Then I can't delete them, and it says some songs are playing when they aren't. I've restored my iPhone, same issue.

According to this article  Using iPhone on an airplane  you should be able to listen to music with Airplay Mode enabled.
Make sure you have Music switched on in Settings > Store or your music won't download via Wi-Fi.

  • I put iPod on "songs, shuffle" but the shuffle isn't random!  Same artist repeats often, same songs repeat before other songs are played.  With over 2000 songs on the iPod, I shouldn't be getting repeats very often.  Anybody else?

Shuffle is not perfect. What you are experiencing is normal.

Error -36 is an I/O error, which could indicate a damaged Catalog file, corrupted bitmap or (even worse) a dying HD.
I would recommend to run Disk Utility and perform a 'Verify disk'.
If lots of errors are found, try to save as much files as possible to another disk.
Then perform a 'Repair disk'. Repairing a catalog file or bitmap might cause loss of files, that's why I recommend to verify first and save the files, before repairing.

BaconBits is right to ask if the files are protected or not.
DRM files can only be transferred using Windows Media Player, Creative MediaSource or Nano Media Explorer so that the licenses are transferred. Do not try drag'n'drop with Windows Explorer on porotected files. This is explained in the Help file manual on your CD.
Also do not use Audible Manager to transfer music files.

  • I have updated to iTunes 10 and now my unchecked songs are playing... I don't want this and can't figure out how to have it like it was before (not playing unchecked songs). Please help!

I have updated to iTunes 10 and now my unchecked songs are playing... I don't want this and can't figure out how to have it like it was before (not playing unchecked songs). Please help! I leave the unchecked songs in there b/c there will come a point in time where I want to listen to these songs but right now I don't.

yes, 10.3.1, iTunes already restarted, menu settings already like that and still it will play all unchecked songs (including the checked songs of course). Why even have check and unchecked if the program is going to play all of them anyway?!
    thanks for responding though...

  • Songs are playing on shuffle mode when they are not supposed to

I am using the latest version for Windows 10 and songs are playing on shuffle mode on their own. As a matter of fact, there is a song playing now that isn't even on the playlist that I am listening to

Was there some earlier version that you found worked better?-- maybe version 0.8.x-- or version 0.9.x?
    * Some earlier versions may have been easier to "debug" and force to work right for you? What has been your experience?

  • My itunes songs are playing up

i have noticed songs i have purchased arent playing all the way through and are skipping to the next,
and have the same problem on my other devices including iphone 4s, macbookpro, and ipad because of syncing all devices
didnt realise songs were playing up before i synced can somebody help me on what to do?

    Hello zarnoss,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with music in iTunes and on your devices.  In my experience, this happens when the song doesn't download completely:
Occasionally, if a song purchased from the iTunes Store on a Mac or PC was not downloaded completely, the song may not play back fully. The song may abruptly stop during playback, and iTunes may start playing the next song in your library or playlist.

In a situation like this, I recommend deleting the problematic songs and redownload the songs from your past purchases.
Follow these steps to delete the song from iTunes:
Delete an item from your library
Click the item to select it, and press the Delete key.
    Click Delete Item.
    Do one of the following:
Remove the item only from your iTunes library: Click Keep File.
Delete the item from your computer: Click Move to Recycle Bin. The item is removed the next time you empty the Recycle Bin.
You can find the full article here:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Delete songs, playlists, or other items

Next, you can follow the steps to redownload the songs to iTunes in this article:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12283
Once you have downloaded the songs again, you can resync them to your devices.
If you are still not able to play the songs fully after redownloading them, you can report an issue with this purchases using the steps in this article:
How to report an issue with your iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, or iBookstore purchase

  • Songs are "playing" but no sound?

    Hi,
I have an iPhone 4s running IOS 7.0.4 and running spotifz version 0.9.3.212. Some songs play fine in my playlist but others are "playing" but there is no sound. Like I said this happens on random songs. Inheritly, when I try to play the song that is malfunctioning online using the phone (going to the artist's page) the same problem occurs (probably because spotify is trying to play the local file).
    Any idea what's going on?
    thanks for your help!

@AndrewAbo - it is correct that the "no sound" issue is all over the community here. You would normally assume that the Spotify development team would pay attention to such a critical issue that so many users encounter.
My suggestion to anyone would be to log this issue through this link so the issue will get on the radar. For now, it is trying to get used to skipping tracks each time at random the playlist stops playing.

  • All songs are playing fast

I just upload all my library in my ipod and when I want to play, all songs are just skipped (played but very fast). I cannot hear anything as IPod will just jump to the next song imediately.
How can I solve this matter ?
    Thanks
    Gregoire

Well at the moment I don't have definitive answer for you, (maybe someone else has) but I've noticed that some of my AAC files are at 130kbps, which tells us that iTunes and the iPod can handle that bit rate.
If you have access to the original source of the music (I.E. the CD) then I would suggest re-importing it into iTunes at a different bit rate. On the other hand, if you have downloaded an MP3 (legally, of course) from a musician's web site, there's probably not much that you can do about it.
Basically though, it sounds (from your clip that I listened to) that the file is corrupt or simply incompatible with an iPod.

  • TS1362 my purchased songs are playing half way before skipping to the next track. I can't redownload them. What should I do?

My songs only play half-way then they skip to another song. I don't know how to fix it and don't know how to re-download the songs.
