Songs delete themselves

Hi, I've been set on a quest to figure out my nieces ipod nano (i have a regular 2nd gen ipod)- her ipod charges fine and i just set it to my mac with no problem but the issue that i'm trying to resolve is that her ipod will get songs on it for about a week, then when the battery dies the songs are all erased... I searched for as long as I had the patience to find something on this topic but I couldnt find anything... so to recap...
- battery is fine
- songs upload fine
- songs delete themselves when ipod battery dies (about a week into normal usage)
how do I get the songs to stay on after the ipod dies?? (I realize that keeping it charged would eliminate issues but she is 8 and that won't ever happen)
thanks... Dani

Is your iPod set to automatically update? If so, are all the songs still in your iTunes library? If not, this is probably the cause.
If it is, you may want to restore your iPod and then resync it with iTunes...
Restore iPod
Also, make sure you never disconnect your iPod when it says not to.
Is the software on your iPod and your computer up to date?

  • Songs delete themselves for no apparent reason..

I use iTunes as a music jukebox. I have iTunes loaded on my laptop, along with about 7 Gigs of International folk dance songs. Once in a while, I'll look for a song in iTunes that I have played before, and it will
    be gone.
The computer isn't hooked to the Internet, the songs aren't ones that I've downloaded. The songs in question are in mp3 format.
For example: There's a song we dance to a lot called Changerais Tu.
Last night, I typed Changerais Tu into the search box, it came up and said that it wasn't on there. Does anyone know what's up with that? It's happened before, with other songs. Seems like a song will decide to just spontaneously delete itself. The gray exclamation mark appears.

  • Songs deleting themselves, purchases history not displaying

    Hi,
Firstly, I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, it is a cross between 2 things so I figured I'd give this one a shot.
So recently my iPhone has decided to, one by one, delete all of the songs that are on it.
Usually I would find this annoying, but I would just go back in to the purchases section of iTunes on my phone and download them again, but the purchases section is only displaying the last 2 purchases I made. Previous movies and tv shows still able to be downloaded.
It is still letting me play some of the previous purchases that it hasn't deleted. Perhaps it doesn't like my taste in music?
I am aware the the 'recentpurchases' part of iTunes and have made sure that I am not looking solely in that section.
Any help or advice that anyone can give is greatly appreciate.
    Thanks
    iPhone 4S, 7.1.1

You can try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the [[Safe mode]] start window - See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Resetting_preferences
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems
See [[Basic Troubleshooting|#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile]]
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

  • Random songs are deleting themselves every 2 weeks

I have become very frustrated at the fact that certain songs that i have bought from the iTunes store are deleting themselves every 2 weeks or so. I am running off an iPhone 5 on IOS 8.1.3(although the problem has been occurring ever since 8.1.0). I have searched the interweb and found nothing but another user with the exact same problem. Apple really needs to fix this as is becoming a hassle to re-download songs that I bought legitimately.

i am manually downloading these straight to my iPhone.
It's a fine point, but do you mean:
Connecting to iTunes and manually dragging them over to the iPhone?
Manually re-downloading previously purchased songs directly from the iPhone? (e.g. tap the cloud icon)
First purchases, downloaded directly to your iPhone?
It shouldn't matter, but songs shouldn't be mysteriously deleted either.  I don't know that one method vs. the other means any particular thing, but in my experience downloading songs directly to the device (the last two choices) can produce quirky results.  However, in my experience it's been the opposite problem, where I have a hard time deleting songs I've downloaded directly to the iPhone.
Is there a chance you're deleting the "Purchased" playlist from your iPhone, or clearing its contents?  Sorry if I'm grasping at straws here, but I've never had this problem.  If you describe some of the habits you do with respect to managing your music, perhaps someone here can spot something.

  • APPLICATIONS DELETING THEMSELVES IN FRONT OF MY EYES

I am an idiot. Strap in folks. If you only want the problem, not how I got there, skip to paragraph 3.
I've been teaching myself html, php, css, etc... and I got in over my head when I tried to get safari to open a .php file saved locally (works fine when opened from server). I looked up why this was happening and I found people saying I needed to enable php and Apache. I did the steps to enable it but Safari would still only open a .php file as html code. This is no longer on my list of worries but is relevant to my problem.
I was also learning at the time about myslq and learned that myslq and Apache work together so I decided why not, I'll download and install myslq while I'm at it. It turns out myslq didn't install correctly, so I was searching through forums and found that I needed to go into terminal and change some directories and such. Eventually I got myslq to start correctly after dinking in terminal (stupid). By now I realized this was way over my head so I wanted to get it off my computer. Well, I should have realized deleting things using terminal was extremely risky. I did it anyway, looking through more forums, learning about directories I needed to delete and how to delete them.
Then I noticed my applications folder in the dock was displaying an app icon, not a folder icon. In fact, it's changing the app icon it displays every couple seconds. I open it up and when it expands it seems like I don't have all the apps that should be in there...Sure enough I open applications in a finder window and all apps starting with A-L have been deleted. I sit there astonished for a second and another application was deleted right in front of my face! I immediately shut down my computer.
Did this begin, and I'm sure it did, when I was so foolishly deleting directories by copying and pasting directions on forums on how to delete mysql?
I have since rebooted my computer and apps are no longer deleting themselves.
I luckily have time machine so everything is backed up. Is it possible to just do a full restore of everything to a point in the day before I started all the myslq nonsense? If that is possible, would that change back all the terminal directories I may have deleted as well, or does TM not back those up? I'm clueless on what to do next. I don't just want to drag back the deleted apps one at a time, I want to get all of my mistakes off.
Help! Let me know if I need to include anything, if there is a terminal history I can somehow put in here or something.
    THANK YOU!

PHP can only be run from a server.

    Correct.

The only way to run PHP in Safari is through the address bar.

Which forums are those? Most of that information on the internet is out of date at best and often flat out wrong. In the future, it would be best to ask here on Apple Discussions.

No doubt. Don't feel too bad. I don't know of anyone who has used ever used UNIX and didn't delete their home directories at some point - or worse.
I don't just want to drag back the deleted apps one at a time, I want to get all of my mistakes off.
You can always boot from your install disk, use Disk Utility to erase your startup drive, then reinstall a factory-fresh OS. I do that every couple of years, when I get a new computer, or on a major OS upgrade. It helps to clean out a lot of junk.

  • I have two 2nd generation iPods and iTunes will no longer let me delete songs (Delete in gray)?

I have two 2nd generation iPods and iTunes will no longer let me delete music from either one. If I select a song, "Delete" is gray in the menu and cannot be selected. What's happened? New iTunes not compatible?

In order to manually remove music from the iPod via iTunes, you need to have the Manually manage music and videos option checked from under each iPod's Summary tab.

  • Install files delete themselves

Hi everyone I just bought a 2gig nano and i have windows xp.
i tried installing with the cd it came with and everything looked fine, but then when i looked for the files there were none, no folders, nothing. i changed my install directory to my desktop so i could see if it even created them or not and i saw the "itunes" and other icons appear and then at the end of the installation they disappeared as if deleting themselves, and then i got the error saying the installation was interrupted.
i have been working and searching for answers about this since yesterday but i havent seen anything similar, i also had the problem of it taking my cd-roms away but i can fix that later right now i'd just like to get itunes installed and working so i can use my ipod. i even tried downloading the itunes installer separately and it does the same thing.
there is an "itunessetup.exe" icon on my desktop with the classic white square icon, and it says cannot delete because its in use but there are no itunes processes running at all.
i tried booting in safe mode and nothing works there either.
i will appreciate any help u have to offer!
thank you for takin the time to read this

  • Podcasts delete themselves while playing

    Hi all-
There's one podcast to which I subscribe (KQRS Morning Show) which will randomly delete themselves from my 5S while they are playing, and I am forced to re-download them.  I do not sync them with my Mac, and this happens throughout the day while I'm away from my home.  This is irritating beyond belief.  Any thoughts or opinions would be most appreciated.  Thanks!

Go to the podcast page of the library on that computer and click the settings tab at the bottom. Check and see what the "Keep" option is set to.

  • Podcasts automatically delete themselves???!!!!!

HELP!!! Whenever I listen to/watch a podcast, the little blue dot that was next to them vanishes. Then when I update my iPod, the watched podcasts delete themselves from my iPod and computer!!!! Has this happened to anyone else? I also notice that when the podcasts delete themselves, I can't put them back on. How/why does this happen, and how can I fix it????
PS, My iPod is an 80GB video and only 3 days old.

    Good for you, football_gurl90!
I find it hilarious you first thought you were running iTunes on a Win ME machine. Coupled with your comment about unintelligent podpeople, I can only say -
    Happy podding to you, dear!

  • Segments of a single track deleting themselves in Garageband.

I was going through two vocal tracks segment by segment (recording by recording) and once I reached the very end and scrolled back, all the segments on one of the tracks, save the last one I had been working on, had deleted themselves.  This has happened to me twice, and on the same single vocal track (I worked on two at the same time).  Anyone know how I can get these recordings back?

you could use the AUPitch plug-in (the second part of this tute shows how to access AUs):

  • Printers deleting themselves from Windows 2008 R2 Print Server

We have a server that is seemingly randomly deleting the print objects from the server itself. When we look at the Print server console, we see that all the installed/shared printers are "Error - Deleting". If we clear the jobs in the queue, the
printer deletes itself.   Stopping and restarting the spooler service doesn't help, rebooting the server hasn't helped.
We had this issue 2 weeks ago on the same server. We just recreated the printers and it's been fine until yesterday, then they all started deleting themselves. There doesn't appear to be anything in
any log we can find to point to a reason for this. We've even checked the login logs and it's only been 3 admins that have logged in to that server in the last 2 weeks. 1st time to rebuild the printers 2 weeks ago, and yesterday because the printers started
    disappearing.
    Anyone have some clues?

    Hi Paul,
it is really interesting case.. I would start with checking event viewer under Applications and services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > PrintService > Admin and Operational (you have to enable second one first)
Any scheduled tasks? Group policies? system restore?
The only thing in the logs is that it is shifting the default printer when one of us logs into the server, using RDP by the way.  There are no scheduled tasks, group policies or system restore being used.

  • Ok, so it appears that my photo gallery and video gallery decided to delete themselves? Is there a trash can or deleted file where I can recover them? Please help

Ok, it seems that my photo gallery and video gallery decided to
delete themselves. Is there a way to recover them perhaps from
a trash can or deleted file? I have a Android

    appreciate your reply
    1. i do not see a trashcan iconwhen i open the photos.
    2. the photos are NOT in the 'camera roll' they are in a folder called 'iPad photos' (which is in the 'albums' section of the iPad)
    3. i have re-set the iPad numerous times in order to try and resolve this. each time it is the same - no trashcan.
    4. i have no method of 'moving' the photos to another folder - only the option to 'add to' a 'new folder'. since thsi won't delete the original photos, there is little point in trying this.
    5. i'm guessing your next suggestion will be to completely back up and re-set my iPad? is that really what i should be doing here? surely... surely.... please, this should be a simple - select>trashcan>delete process and not something i have to spend half my working day trying to resolve! seriously, seriosly, unimpressed with Apple over this issue. it's about time that Apple gave the power back to the user on devices like these. i can understand now why people jailbreak their iPads... there rant over - but please consider my feelings over this issue.

  • Contacts randomly deleting themselves throughout the day ios7

With the new update of iOS 7.0.3 it worked fine for a few days than one day it just randomly deleted my contacts and when i went to settings i saw my icloud had my settings turned off and i flipped it on and they all came back. this happened a few times and than it started to only delete the contacts that are over 5 or 6 months old or older (only keeping my recent contacts) than all my old ones would just randomly pop back up. Now its starting to delete them all and i could go to settings click icloud turn off my contacts switch and turn it back on and they would come back in a few minutes. Now they are just all gone, all my text messages and conversations are still there and instead of the name above the convo its just their number. I logged onto my icloud from my laptop and my contacts are still there they just wont sync back up with my phone. I dont understand why they would delete themselves in the first place. I'm out of ideas on this anyone else have any input?

I'm syncing to iCloud. I've experienced the bug where iCloud will turn itself off in settings and it will appear that you've lost all of your contacts until you turn it back on, but this is different. Several times a week for the last 3 weeks or so I'll receive an iMessage from someone who is a contact and regularly messages me, and their message will show up as coming from a phone number.

  • Safari bookmarks suddenly started deleting themselves today...

Safari bookmarks suddenly started deleting themselves today - I could only watch while it happened, and took just a matter of seconds. My bookmarks sync across my iPhone and iCloud, so they're gone everywhere - and I don't have my Time Machine working... Any ideas as their restoration..?

Do you happen to have another browser installed and if so, did you ever import Safari bookmarks to that browser?
If so, you can export them back to Safari then sync to iCloud.
And try restarting your Mac and iPhone both.
