Sony A6000 Raw ARW files can't be seen or manipulated in bridge...

Please help!

Did each image have its .jpg extension? i think Windows likes to see the extension, Macs don't care.

  • My Photoshop Elements 11 -Sony A6000 RAW picture files

My Photoshop Elements 11 does not open sony A6000 RAW picture files. Are there any updates? What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?

    Hi,
According to the following, the Sony Alpha A6000 requires camera raw 8.4 which is not compatible with Photoshop Elemenets 11.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Providing your system is not XP, Vista or Mac OS 10.6 or earlier, then you need to upgrade to Photoshop Elements 12 or 13 or use the DNG converter 8.4 or later.

  • Lightroom and Sony A700 Raw (ARW) Files

I shot all pictures in ARW format. A number of the shots are at mid to high level ISO numbers. The shots above 400ISO are extremely noisy(both cloro and luminance)When I use the SOny supplied software
the same pictures noise level is significantly reduced. I have read on several other forums that ACR in lightroom is "messing up" the ARW files. This appears to be true. I use lightroom then CS3 to process my shots. The use of the Sony softweare complicates my workflow but at this point I am forced to do this. Is there any relief in site for this concern. Really want to combine everything into one system. By the way CS3 Bridge is not much better.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Bob

I have your lighting right here, JM.
It's quite clear you know nothing about shooting African Cichlids, the most colorful freshwater fish in the world.
These fish are "mbuna", they live in rocks, caves, and along rock faces and ledges. They are used to living many meters deep so the best fish always take up territory towards the bottom of the tank where the best structures are, where the light is most dim.
In this 120 gallon tank is well over 500 pounds of structure which consumes most of the space in the tank.
In many of the photos you will notice rock structures around the fish as the tank consists of a hundred or so ledges and caves.
African Cichlids are the smartest fish in the world and they even learn who is who...they are not ordinary fish.
No matter how much light you throw on African Cichlids it usually does not cure the problem since they spend most of there time peeking from, and hanging under structures. Shadows and dark areas are cast throughout the tanks due to the structures.
Not to mention you must use the lighting already available in every public tank in the business, not to mention fish vendors usually cannot add lighting to their tanks either.
That leads us to use high ISO when we must.
Here are a few Sony A700 test shots made with 3 custom temp 4 ft 40 watt tubes in a deep 120 gallon tank.

Here are a few old shots of mine when I used my custom built and designed setup w/6 custom temp 40 watt tubes made to fit a standard 55. Notice structure galore...it's like an urban housing complex in the mbuna tanks. I can shoot fish with a good pNs setup fairly well with this amount of light. Not many people anywhere get this amount of light on their tank, trust me.

I shot Minolta, and then Konica Minolta, and now Sony has bought KM, so Sony is the one making the bodies for our glass now.
Many of us will not give up image stabilized primes (body SSS) so we stay here. All lenses gain 2-3 stops on the Sony...A700 has top notch DR and great high ISO so most of us are not interested in Canon at the moment.
This thread is here to help the Adobe team make ACR better, please stop interfering with your brand bashing speaks.
    Thank you.

  • Import Sony RAW .arw files not automatic

I decided to take the plunge yesterday I downloaded the trial LR2 (now 2.1) and purchased Kelby's Lightroom 2 book. All my catalog from PSE6 imported without a hitch. That's over 12000 photos with about half of them Minolta (.mrw) and Sony RAW (.arw) files. Then I decided to import the shots I had just taken from a weekend photoshoot. I plugged in my CF into the card reader and started LR. When I clicked on the IMPORT button for my CF location all I got was the message "NO PHOTOS WERE FOUND TO IMPORT". I can import the files using the manual CHOOSE FILE option but I want it to work just like PSE with auto import. From what I understand that should be the case. After a Google search I found importing Sony RAW images (.arw) was an issue in LR1, but shouldn't Aobe have fixed it by now?? Just as an aside, if I'm having this issue with .arw files, when I import the RAW images from my Minolta 7Hi I wonder if I'll have the same issue.
Since its a trail version I'm not eligible for Adobe support, so there is no help coming from there.

Will I be able to open the DNG files in LR with the edits preserved? Will I be able to open the PSD files in LR with the edits preserved? Any import/catalog etc issues between PSE10 and LR?

Lightroom has no problem reading DNG files. Whether the edits you have done to the DNGs you have originally edited in Photoshop Elements 10 I'm not sure. ACR edits made to DNGs are saved in the DNG file itself, as apposed to a XMP sidecar file, so LR should see those edits. At the worst you will get an exclamation mark in the upper right hand corner of the imported DNGs and clicking on that exclamation mark you will get a dialog box asking you to either import settings from disk or overwrite settings. you would select import settings from disk.

I have version 4.4.1 on my computer now, which is functioning properly - but does not read the .ARW files. When I download the link you sent and try to open it, it pops up as version 5 and I get this image (attached). This is my first time in one of these threads, not sure if i have to reply to each of you individually?

  • Finder can no longer preview RAW (.arw) files

    Hi everyone,
Since the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.7, Finder will no longer preview RAW (.arw) files. This issue also affects Preview & iPhoto.
I've tried re-installing the update but the installer errors and then quits.
I've noticed that the /System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle/ folder is missing since the update.
Any recommendations on how to resolve this small problem?
    Justin

Did Apple re-release the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.7? It appeared again within Software Update. After installing it, Raw files are recognised correctly now.

  • LR 4.2RC and ACR 7.2 RC won't read SONY RX 100 ARW files

I was at a wedding yesterday and had two cameras with me - a Nikon D800 and my little SONY RX 100.  I was using an Eye-Fi Pro card for the Sony.  I'm uninterested in the Wi-Fi capabilities when I'm away from home, but like the camera to upload pictures when I'm close to my big processing machine.  Long story short.  This was the first time I've used the LR 4.2RC and ACR 7.2RC with the Sony RX 100.  I plugged the card into both the regular Eye-Fi USB reader, and into my Hoodman USB 3.0 reader.  Of course, LR doesn't like the Eye-Fi reader, but it loves the Hoodman.  Finally, it recognized the Hoodman and the Eye-Fi card.  I have previews set to minimal and I was attempting to import all the raw (ARW) files into Lightroom.  When the initial previews come up as I start the import process, it shows about 1/3 of the previews and then tells me it can't read the rest, including MP4 files.  When I actually begin the import, it simply times out and reports that it was unable to import ANY of the ARW files, nor the MP4 files.  I have no trouble reading 63 files into Raw Photo Processor so I know there is nothing wrong with any of the files.  I can only conclude that there is something wrong with LR 4.2 and/or ACR 7.2.
Anyone else reporting this problem?  I'm puzzled because this is the ONLY time I have ever had trouble importing files from supported cameras.
    Thanks for feedback.

Well.  After some experimentation, I discovered what the problem seems to be.  For reasons completely opaque to me, Lightroom expects not only that the Eye-Fi card will be read from its own reader, but it also expects that the Eye-Fi helper application be installed and running.  Of course, this means that I end up with duplicate copies of every file - once to the Eye Fi directory, and again to the appropriate Lightroom Folder on a completely different set of drives.   I guess the conclusion I can draw from this is that without the helper application, the Eye Fi card is dumb and the images only partly visibible.  The Eye-Fi helper can import the .ARW files, but it doesn't display them because Apple hasn't updated its camera list to include the RX100.  Until they do, I think I'll just use regular cards and consign the Eye-Fi card to the hall of unhelpful cards.  Yikes, the darned thing is as expensive as the Lightroom upgrade.
    Sigh.

  • Can't view Sony RAW (.ARW) file in Adobe Bridge

    Hi all,
    Need some assistance here.
I'm currently using Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Bridge.
I've installed the Adobe Camera Raw update version 4.6.
With this, I'm able to do the relevant editing with the Sony Alfa raw files (.ARW) in Camera Raw.
But the funny thing is, when using adobe bridge I can't view the thumbnails as I view it in camera raw / photoshop.
The thumbnails is "blank". This only happens on .ARW files. I'm able to view jpeg files in thumbnail.
When I check the camera raw preferences in adobe bridge, it shows me it's 4.6.
I'm currently using Mac OS X (Leopard).
Do any of you faced this before?
Hope that any of you could shed a light on this matter.
    Thank you in advance.

Have you figured out a workaround for this?  Most of the forums regarding this issue
are windows related or full of arguments.  I'm guessing there may not be a solution to this problem so I'm curious what approach you're taking.
    Thanks!

  • Sony a6000 raw files

I have a Sony A6000 camera and can't seem to get Lightroom 5.6 to recognize the files and download them on a PC running Windows 8.  No problem on a Mac.   The Windows PC will see it with windows explorer but can't seem to get Lightroom to recognize the raw files.  I saw some articles about downloading a a plugin for lightroom but no where can I find where to download anything.  Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks... Gary

That camera has been supported since version 5.4 of Lightroom. Are you sure you have Lightroom 5.6 installed? There is no plug-in for Lightroom to provide the camera support. Lightroom does not use the Camera Raw plug-in.

  • Does Lightroom 4.4 support Sony a6000 RAW files

    Hello Group,
I have tried and tried to get my version of Lightroom 4.4 to read my RAW files from my new Sony a6000.  I have updated my adobe programs and still have had no luck.  Do I need a newer version of Lightroom?  I am not sure if there is something I am doing wrong.  I do not have any plug-in that I can see.   I can see the files when I downloaded the files to my MAC but I would like to open in Lightroom.   Please help!
    Thank you

You need version 5.4 minimum, current version of LR is 5.7.1. Alternatively you could convert (outside LR) the RAW files to DNG files using the Adobe DNG converter and import them into LR.

  • CS6 will not read/open Sony a6000 raw files

Have just purchased a Sony a6000 and I shoot in raw. When I came to retrieve the files from Bridge in CS6 it will not open them. The software shows up to date and if I try to open directly in CS6 nothing shows up. My Nikon downloads fine in raw. Please offer advice to start downloading my photographs.

  • Sony a7 mk2 ARW files will not import

I have a Sony RX100 and LR 5.7 imports the ARW files ok, However I've just bought an A7 Mk2 and Lightroom will not import the ARW files from that camera. I've downloaded CameraRaw 8 so I can convert the files first and then import into LR, but it seems strange that I cant import and convert from withing LR itself.

Use the links above to upgrade to LR 5.7.1 or if you have a Creative Cloud account subscription login to your account and check if there is a button indicating "install" available next to Lightroom and proceed to click the button and install the update.

  • I think LR 5.7 broke the Sony A6000 raw conversion

i installed LR 5.7 yesterday and today i was out shooting with my Sony A6000.
back at home i noticed that the sky looked very ugly (like jpg compression, strange blocky artifacts).
i was shooting with ISO 100 and did not see this before.
so i opened older files from my A6000 and i see the same strange artifacts i did not notice before with LR 5.6.

    ssprengel schrieb:
I’m sure you can make the Camera Standard one as ugly as the Adobe Standard one is you crank up the Clarity on the Camera Standard one.
    nope tried that.
camera standard looks still much better.
but i found what causes it.
i use the BLUE and AQUAMARIN luminance sliders to darken the sky a bit.
when i let them at 0, both adobe standard and camera standard look nearly identical from the noise pattern.
    like i would expect.
but when i darken the sky with both luminance sliders and i then switch between "camera standard" and "adobe standard" the later gets worse.
i just never noticed this before because with LR 5.6 and before i set the default profile to "camera standard".
and you won´t notice any differnece as long as you don´t use the luminance sliders to darken the sky.
i just checked with my nikon cameras and they behave the same.

  • Working with Slow motion (240fps) Sony F55 Raw mxf files

I'm working on a project that uses both 25p files and 240fps slow motion files from a Sony F55.
The problem is that when I add the slow motion files to my file list everything gets media pending, even the normal 25p files. If I delete the the slow motion files from the list the normal 25p gets back to normal behaviour, withous Media Pending.
It seems that Premiere Pro cannot work very good with Sony RAW 240fps files. Is that I known bug? Is there a way to fix it?
