Sony BRAVIA network streaming

Hello people,
I am fairly new to the apple community and i am facing a problem.
its been a whole week since i am trying to figure out how to stream video on my new bravia over the network. I ve even replaced my router last night.
Equipment:
Mac Pro - Snow Leopard 10.6.5
New router - Apple Airport Extreme Base Station
SONY Bravia KDL40EX710 (http://www.sony.lv/product/t32-ex-series/kdl-40ex710)
I ve tried the following servers:
Twonky
MediaLink
Eyeconnect
and many more that cant recall right now.
I feel that i am doing something wrong.
P.S.: Booted on Windows 7, detected sony, enabled streaming and TADA.. all good. But quality on some videos is altered badly.
Any ideas on how to get it working on Snow Leopard ?
Thanks,
George

Just some comments:
There's got to be more sophistication to this idea than setting up another user-level program on an iMac (or other computing device) requiring configuration effort and running around to control what and when it can stream via DLNA/UPnP or another network protocol to a TV.
I wish the industry would be a little bit more progressive and in a sense I wouldn't be surprised to learn one day that Apple and cohorts have already considered a solution that not only avoids clutter around a TV (with yet another box and cables to cast audio/video) but that also avoids software mess and configuration effort on computing devices that provide the stream to the TV.
Concepts such as "VGA to IP" or "desktop to IP", or more sophisticated ideas such as PCoIP will reveal that what I'm referring to isn't new. For example, why not have a laptop have its (or another computing device's) desktop and audio (broad/multi) cast to IP (rather than to the omnipresent VGA interface) in such a way that the TV can render the contents of desktop and reproduce the sounds generated by the laptop. The desktop can be any portion of the screen or vice versa and the stream can be encoded in MPEG2 or another format that the TV understands or it may not be encoded at all. Wired and many wireless home networks can handle clear/unencoded 1080p streams. All of this except the proper communication is supported by state of the art TVs and computing devices.
The laptop example illustrates that firstly no VGA, DVI or HDMI cable is required to connect the laptop (or any other suitable computing device for that matter) to the TV. Secondly, the software that is required on the computing device for the noted purpose requires a lot less user configuration than Twonky (no offence) and its friends. Wouldn't that be nice?
Considering the above, thinking of the (laptop's) keyboard as the remote control opens up another world of user-friendly solutions. You just got to separate and/or divide components of traditional monolithic computer systems and turn the pieces into new devices. Leaving the receiving part of a graphics interface card in the computing device but moving the rendering engine into a TV/monitor may work quite well. Essentially its all an interactive movie bringing a lot of data to the user and returning comparatively little information from user input back to the computing device.

  • Stream music from my RDIO client on mac to Sony bravia

I would like to be able to stream the music I hear on my mac (not mp3) to the Sony bravia, which has a DNLA and WiFi. Most of my music is consumed via the RDIO service, which streams the music to the mac and now I want to be able to stream it to the TV, which is connected to the Onkyo receiver.
    Your help is appreciated.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • How to connect a Sony Bravia TV to the internet through your Airport network

Since it took me a lot of time to figure out how to connect my Sony Bravia TV to the internet through my Airport network, I better share how to do it. Hopefully saving others a lot of time.
My 32EX600 Sony Bravia TV is Ethernet connected to my Mac Mini, which is part of my Airport network, together with another Mac, an Airport Extreme Base Station and an ADSL modem/router. Moreover, the Mac Mini is connected to the TV by HDMI.
Whatever I tried in the TV’s Wired Network Set-up (Auto, or Manual with manual IP, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS IPs), I couldn’t get it right. Cable Connection and Local Access were mostly OK, Internet Access always Failed.
The solution lies in the Sharing panel of the System Preferences of the Mac Mini. In the Internet Sharing item of that panel, you should choose to “share your internet connection from WiFi to computers (the TV in this case) using Ethernet“, and NOT (as I had chosen before and seemed so obvious) “share your internet connection from Airport to computers using Ethernet“. After that change, the Bravia Network Set-up, using the Wired and Auto options, flawlessly connected to the internet. No expensive (Sony) WiFi USB dongle needed.

I have now had a detailed reply from Sony Europe and the way to do this is to:
    1.       Press Home on the TV Setup
    2.       Use the right and left arrow to select Setting.
    3.       Use the up and down to select Network, press Enter.
    4.       Select Network Setup.
    5.       Select Wireless setup.
    6.       Select Scan
    7.       Select your network
    8.       A new screen will appear asking for entering the security key.
    9.       Enter your WPA2 key.
    10.   Select Enter.
    11.   It will take you back to the same screen asking for entering the
    security key.
    12.   Press the right arrow.
    13.   Select Auto.
    14.   Press the right arrow.
    15.   Select Save and connect.
These instructions are not the same as shown on the TV but they worked fine for me so they may help others with a similar problem.

  • Can I connect 2 sony bravia's, a sony home theatre, 2 macbooks, 2 ipads, 3 iphones and a dell laptop and stream media from my apple devices to my tv?

Can I connect 2 sony bravia's, a sony home theatre, 2 macbooks, 2 ipads, 3 iphones and a dell laptop and stream media from my apple devices to my tv? I have a sony bravia 600 series and 700 series and a home theatre( sony 7100 series)

The only way to stream directly to your TV would be if it is an AirPlay-enabled device.
There are many AirPlay-enabled devices but I am not familiar with Sony's products. If yours do not specifically indicate AirPlay capability, then you need an AirPlay-enabled device such as an AppleTV connected to your Sony TV or Sony AVR.

  • Apple TV and Sony Bravia, Slight video distortion when streaming local video

I have a 3rd Generation Apple TV and a Sony Bravia TV
When I am strwaming movies from iTunes, it appears it is skipping frames every few seconds. I have it hooked up through a Sony ES receiever, and i have by passed it to go directly to the TV. Below is all the troubleshooting i have done:
    - Changed the HDMI cable
    - Plugged it in directly to the TV
    - I have tried 2 Different TV's in the house (Video Streaming is fine on both TVs)
    - Tested the video on 2 macs and window media center, videos play fine
    - Moved the Airport Extreame and internet connection next to the unit
    - streamed from Both my macs and the WMC PC.
    - tried connecting either net to Airport extreame with the Mac
    - Streamed a movie trailer and it looked fine.
    - Changed the resolution of the apple tv from 1080P to 720P
    - Played movies from the PS3 and DVD play, no problems with the picture on the TV
    - Power cycled EVERYTHING!
I have over 400 movies on my media server, and none of them acted like this on my 1st generation Apple TV i just sold.
The weird part is that it only happens to the movies i am streaming on this specific TV. I know the TV is good, the moveis are fine. And the connection between the device and the system hosting the movies is fine..
Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

    Make sure its compatible
H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store): Up to 5 Mbps, Progressive Main Profile (CAVLC) with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

  • I have a 2008 black macbook and access UK tv through a purchased proxy site. I want to buy a sony bravia internet connected tv to watch the channels in more comfort. Sony tell me this won't work - that the tv cannot capture my macbook content. Any advice?

I have a 2008 black MacBook and acess UK tv through a puchased proxy. I want to purchase a Sony Bravia internet connected tv and stream the site through a tv - Sony tell me this won't work - that a latest model tv cannot capture content and sites from a MacBook - is this true???? Surely there is a solution? Any help or advice welcome.

They are correct.  The only stream you can wireless connect the TV to a Mac is through an AppleTV, and that's purchased content on iTunes, and your own homemade content that is H.264 MPEG-4 that is 1800kbps.   Conversion of commercial video to that format is illegal, and hence how can not be stated on the forum.    Alternatively, as long as the TV is HDMI, you can wired connect it to your MacBook using the same advice here:

  • How do I wirelessly connect my iPad 4 to a Sony Bravia TV?

My Sony Bravia KDL-32W653A recognises that my iPad4 is on my LAN. But I just can't get the iPad content ( videos ) to show up on the TV screen.
The iPad Settings shows the " direct -GC-Bravia" other connection, but it wants to revert to my (John Lewis wireless connection.
If I tap on the other, Bravia panel I am asked for a password. I don't have a password for it and never have had. If I try to use my Apple password or that of my Sony support log-in or even my LAN home group , the iPad just messages:-  "Unable to connect to Diect-GC-Bravia"
I seem to go round in circles and get nowhere- Can anyone out there who has an iPad 4 (retina display AND a Sony Bravia TV help me please?
Maybe even a Sony employee? who owns a similar iPad?
    Davidthebass.

You dont.  Apple won't allow widely used standards and Sony is so behind the times in this area it's painful and almost as bad.  Apple forces you to buy an Apple TV whereas Sony forces you to own an android phone to do this natively.  Surprise!
disappointed I started my smartphone tenure with Apple; had no idea how badly it was going to burn me in about 100 different ways over the years.  All they have on android these days is more efficient hardware...: and since they don't take advantage of it... It's a moot point at the price premium.
as for Sony.  I just spent more than I did on my last car for their flagship and id be satisfied if it costed about 75% less and wasn't a "smart" TV.  Since it is - and this is 2015; the cost coupled with the inability to properly stream or mirror from.... Meh.  Not gonna waste another word.  If neither get it by now, they never will.  Talk with your wallet guys, it's the only language they understand.  Unfortunately they are wise enough to know the sheep outnumber dramatically so it's in vain anyhow.

How do I connect my I pad to Sony Bravia TV so that I can watch content , streamed tv on it

    Hey wrend123,
You can use AirPlay Mirroring to mirror exactly what’s on your iPad to your HDTV via Apple TV. You can read more about that option here:
    iOS: Use AirPlay Mirroring
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5209
You can also use TV out, which you can learn about here:

  • How to Connect a Sony Bravia TV to Time Capsule

I am trying to get a Sony Bravia KDL26EX553BU TV to use my Wireless Network which consists of an Apple iMac PC which is linked wirelessly to an Apple Time Capsule which has a wired connection to a Netgear DM111P ADSL2+ Modem.
The Wireless Network is very good and I don't normally get any problems connecting equipment but trying to link the Sony TV does not appear to work by the conventional method of scanning for the network, clicking on it and entering the password.
In addition to my Network Password the Sony TV requires a WPA Key which I am unable to identify and which Sony state "The WPA address which the TV requires can only be provided through your internet service provider. Please try to check with your service provider for the WPA address and let us know if this has been helpful."
My ISP only provide support for the Routers that they provide and so they cannot help - I have looked through other questions and I thought that I had found the answer with an Equivalent Network Password which was a 64 digit WPA Pre-Shared Key but this would no work. When I connect the items together with an Ethernet Cable it works fine but other than that I cannot find out how to link the TV to my network.
I am a little surprised that Sony don't have an answer  and any help would be appreciated.
