Sorry, this update isn't available for your PC" while upgrading to Windows 8.1from 8

Hi,
I have been encounting this problem from the time i tried to upgrade my laptop or at the time 8.1 was launched .
I never reinstalled the operating system it is the way it came preinstalled by HP, windows is also 100% updated at the time of posting.
Product name: HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC
Serial number: [Personal Information Removed]
Product number: E3B56PA#ACJ
Windows 8 Single Language 64-bit
Now the problem : When i click Upgrade to 8.1 on the Microsoft site it takes me to the Store where i get the below message.
I contacted Microsoft Support and with the help of Logmein they took control of my PC and after the check conformed this is a problem of Volume Licensing .
Now i would like to know how to get this problem solved as this was HP's fault and not mine .

I would like to help you, but comments like "Iam sorry to say but its of no use.." without specifics and detailing what you have checked are not helpful.
You have to be communicatively proactive and helpful for this to be a succesful and two-way troubleshooting event.
Have you looked to verify that the updates required to enable an update to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 are present in your operating system?
Others have faced this issue. They have gotten past it  and updated to Windows 8 by verifying and updating their Windows 8 OS, as decribed in the Microsoft  article.  I had the same issue with one of my laptops.
I also notice that the browser tool that the lithium forum uses has detected that you are using Windows 8.1. Is this the same notebook with Windows 8 you are asking for help with?

"This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." ?
This error message will appear erraneously, if you skipped the update to Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.1 and went straight from an earlier MacOS X version to Yosemite, without first updating to iPhoto 9.5.1 and associating iPhoto to your AppleID.
Try first to buy iPhoto with your AppleID instead of updating. Delete iPhoto from Applications, but don't empty the Trash, then go to the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto. If you are lucky, it will show as free and you can buy it directly.
If iPhoto  is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support: Ask for a redemption code. You will need to provide a prove of purchase for your mac with iPhoto preinstalled.

  • I purchased a new Mac Air. I try to update apps and I get this:This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. They do not show up in 'Purchases'.

I can't update iMovie, Garage Band, Numbers, Pages, Keynote, and iPhoto. on my new Mac Air. 11". I had hoped when I updated to OS X Yosemite that would solve the problem. It didn't. I get this: This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. I went to the app store, as was suggested in someone else's post, using the only ID I've ever had, and went to the purchases tab, to "accept" the apps. That didn't work, because they weren't there to 'accept'. They did come with my purchase, however. Please advise.

It appears Best Buy is up to their old tricks of palming off returned units as new. Take it back for a complete refund of your money. If they give you any static escalate your problem to management immediately.

macbook pro - iPhoto keep prompting to update after Yosemite update. Error message when trying to update -This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.

I only have 1 apple ID and the same was used to set up this early 2011 macbook pro and iPhoto app. I don't want to loose out on any photos. I tried logging out of app store and back in but no luck. PLEEAASEE HELPP!!!
This problem has been reported by quite a few forum members, who skipped the update to iPhoto 9.5.1 while running Mavericks. In that case try to purchase iPhoto again instead of updating.
After making your backup try the following:
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the applications folder, but do not empty the Trash.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your AppleID.
Open the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support, as Niel pointed out: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/

  • When trying to perform updates I get this message. This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. What do I do?

When trying to perform updates I get this message: This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. What do I do? I just bought the MacBook Pro new and migrated my apps from my old MacBook Pro.

Perform the following, stopping with the first one which works:
    1. Open the Mac App Store's Purchases tab. If you're prompted to accept them into your Apple ID, do so.
    2. Move them out of the Applications folder(they may need to be put into the Trash temporarily), and then see if you can download them for free from their individual product pages. If you're asked to buy them, see #3.
    3. Click here, contact Apple, and wait for a response.
    4. Buy them.

  • IPhoto update can't be installed on my MAC ref. "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." this is not possible help?

Recent upgrade to OS X Yosemite on my MAC and iPhoto update can not  now be installed msg reads, "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." this is not possible help?

That error message can be misleading. It means, that iPhoto on your Mac is not associated with your Apple ID.
Either you did not set up  your Mac using the same Apple ID - did someone help with your setup and use a different ID? Perhaps a family member? Or did you let someone borrow your installer disks?
Or did you not yet "Accept" iPhoto and other iLife apps to your Apple ID? Check the "Purchased" tab of the App Store, if any applications are waiting to be accepted. If you see "Accept" buttons, press them.
You may  be unable to "Accept" now, if you missed the update to iphoto 9.5.1 on Mavericks. You could try to buy iPhoto, however. If you are lucky, it may show for free.
Backup your iPhoto library, if you do not have a current backup.
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the Applications folder, but do not empty the Trash, so you can put it back,if need be.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your current AppleID.
Open the main page "Featured" of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support to sort out the AppleID. Use this link: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/

  • Somehow my iphoto got canceled?  I keep getting this message "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or canceled. Help!

Somehow my iphoto got canceled?  I keep getting this message "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or canceled.  How do I fix this?

No - you can not open iPHoto - you need version 9.5.1 - I did not suggest Photo
    I suggested
If you are logged in with the Apple ID that was used to purchase iPhoto or to set up the computer if it came preinstalled then quit iPhoto, backup your iPhoto library  and drag the iphoto application to the trash (do not empty the trash yet) and then go to the App store and install iPhoto - 9.5.1 in your case

  • How do I solve this problem: "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."

    Hello there, gxt88.
It seems you are having issues downloading an application from the App Store. To troubleshoot this issue, let’s follow the steps for iTunes Store connectivity:
First, try signing out of your account in Settings > iTunes & App Store. Once signed out, go ahead and restart your device. Once your device has restarted, sign back in to the iTunes Store and try to download the update.
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account

If the above did not resolve your issue, refer to the following:

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • Trying got update iPhoto after OS update - This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.???

Trying got update iPhoto after OS update - This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.

With Yosemite you need to update to iPhoto 9.6.
The error message means, that iPhoto has not been associated with your AppleID. You do not say, which iPhoto version you are trying to update from.
Associating iPhoto with your AppleID should have happened, when you bought the computer with iPhoto preinstalled with MacOS X Lion or later or with the Mavericks upgrade, if your Mac came with SnowLeopard. Try, if you can "accept" iPhoto now:
Sign into the AppStore with your AppleID
Open the "Purchased" tab. Do you see iPhoto with an "Accept" button?
Accepting associates your Apple ID with the preinstalled iPhoto. It should move iPhoto from the "Accept" portion of the App Store to the "Purchased" tab. After that, you should be able to update iPhoto from the Updates tab of the AppStore. If you do you not see the update there, try to buy iPhoto. iPhoto may show for free, so you do not have to pay again.
Backup your iPhoto library, if you do not have a current backup.
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the Applications folder, otherwise you cannot buy it again. But do not empty the Trash, so you can put iPhoto back, if need be.
After you update iPhoto, your iPhoto Library will need upgrading. Make a backup of your iPhoto Library, before you open iPhoto the first time after updating.

  • This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. what i can do for that ?

This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled i have never use any other id so i am confused.... what i can do for that ? any idea...

Please test after each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes. Keep in mind that no one here represents Apple or can help with customer-service issues.
    Step 1
A purchased app can only be updated by signing in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to buy it. There's no way around that limitation, which also applies to free apps. If you can't sign in with the buyer's ID, delete the app and reinstall it. You'll have to pay for it again, if applicable.
    Step 2
If you get the alert when trying to update a bundled iLife app, select the Purchases page in the App Store and locate the app in your purchase history. If there's a button marked ACCEPT on the right, click it.
If you have a used Mac, the bundled apps were linked to the original owner's Apple ID and can't be transferred to you. Reportedly, customer service has issued redemption codes to some second owners who asked, but it's not guaranteed.
    Step 3
If you're trying to update iLife or iWork apps that were installed from a purchased DVD, or if you have a refurbished Mac bought directly from Apple, contact App Store customer service for a redemption code. You may be asked for the part number of the DVD.
    Step 4
From the App Store menu bar, select
              Store ▹ View My Account
Enter your Apple ID password at the prompt. At the lower right corner of the window that opens, click the Reset button. Close the window.
    Step 5
According to a report, the error can result from changing the language setting of your Apple ID account. I can't confirm.

After updating to Mavericks the apps store gives me the message "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."  How do I still update apps such as iphoto??

What happened was you never accepted these apps into your Mac App Store account.
Drag & drop the apps in the Trash and use OS X Recovery to install them again. after installing the apps be sure to accept them into your account this time from the Purchases pane of the Mac App Store.
