[sort of SOLVED] keyboard stuck after first pacman call

Hi
I installed arch using a CD. The next thing i did was
pacman -Syu
Now I can't log in since the keyboard does not work any more. It does work in the grub menu I get before the login prompt. Is this a known problem. Are there any system files which might give me a hint what is going wrong. Would you suggest to simply redo the installation procedure?
Thanks in advance,
Keen

I did.
Same effect.
I am a bit confused anyway. The only reason I used this "old" cd was, the up-to-date iso I downloaded did not work as live cd. I got the error message:
arch linux unknown keyword in configuretion file: IPAPPEND
and then the bootup did stuck
Which seems to be a known bug. I do not understand why there is no newer release than the one from June 2010.
I did not check the MD5 sum so I will give it another try. And check it this time

  • OracleDataAdapter changes table row state after first Update call

    I have a single dataset containining multiple tables, connected by relation with cascade constraints.
    When I try to do something like:
    OracleDataAdapter da1 = new OracleDataAdapter();
    da1.InsertCommand = previouslyInitializedCommand;
    OracleDataAdapter da2 = new OracleDataAdapter();
    da2.InsertCommand = anotherCommand()
    using (TransactionScope ts = new TransactionScope())
    using (OracleConnecction conn = new OracleConnection(connString))
    conn.Open();
    da1.InsertCommand.Connection = conn;
    da2.InsertCommand.Connection = conn;
    da1.Update(dataset.Table1);
    da2.Update(dataset.Table2);
    ts.Complete();
    The second Update never happens because the first Update call changes Table2 row status to "Unmodified" so no INSERT command is issued.
    Anyone knows how this behaviour can be avoided?

    Hi,
    Maybe take a look here: [http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/33y2221y%28v=vs.80%29.aspx]
    I would focus on this part:
    Ordering of Inserts, Updates, and Deletes
    In many circumstances, the order in which changes made through the DataSet are sent to the data source is important. For example, if a primary key value for an existing row is updated and a new row has been added with the new primary key value as a foreign key, it is important to process the update before the insert.
    You can use the Select method of the DataTable to return a DataRow array that only references rows with a particular RowState. You can then pass the returned DataRow array to the Update method of the DataAdapter to process the modified rows. By specifying a subset of rows to be updated, you can control the order in which inserts, updates, and deletes are processed.
    DataTable table = dataSet.Tables["Customers"];
    // First process deletes.
    adapter.Update(table.Select(null, null, DataViewRowState.Deleted));
    // Next process updates.
    adapter.Update(table.Select(null, null,
      DataViewRowState.ModifiedCurrent));
    // Finally, process inserts.
    adapter.Update(table.Select(null, null, DataViewRowState.Added));r,

  • Keyboard disappears after first letter

    SSince the IOS 8 update every time I start in Google after typing 1st letter the keyboard disappears whilst in landscape mode.
    i Have read about changing the settings whilst in Google but that doesn't work.
    any idea when this will be fixed in an update,

    Thanks for the reply, but i don't think this will solve the problem.
    Here is some more detail: - it happened at the same time ( when updating to iOS8 ) on the iPad and the iPad mini.
                                           - i believe this shows that is definitely the updated OS that causes the problem.
    Also there are more "glitches" as well, like unable to update apps using wifi.
    When the notification appears on the App Store logo, and i check which apps need updating, followed by "update all",
    the small circle keeps turning ( the square does not appear in the middle)... signing in or not doesn't make any difference.
    When i sync with the iMac, it shows that the apps are updating but the notification remains. The only way i managed to
    clear that is to delete the app and reinstall it again. Very frustrating.... All this never happened with iOS7.
    At this time, the iPad has no apps, no photos, no videos... just as when it was new, following the restore, but i still get
    the disappearing cursor on Safari ! Amazing !

  • No network after first pacman -Syu, don't know why

    Hi All,
    I've been lurking on the boards since I installed Arch on a old Pentium II machine last summer.  I was pretty impressed how well it ran on crappy old hardware, so I am trying to put it on a much nicer Athlon 1200 box I recently aquired.  But I am having problems with the internet connection after the install.
    The new system doesn't have a ethernet card, so I am using a Linksys usb-to-ethernet adapter.  According to this website:
    http://www.linuxcompatible.org/cdetail10700.html
    this adapter should work with Linux and uses a module called CDCEther.
    After installing off the base CD I burned back in about June and fiddling with rc.conf to get it set up for dhcp, I was able to get on the internet.  So I proceeded to do a pacman -Syu and rebooted once it was finished.  After that boot I can no longer get to the internet at all.  I can't even ping my linksys router which is the gateway.  If I do ifconfig eth0 it says device not found, and if I do netstat -r it returns nothing at all.
    I didn't add kernel26 to my IgnorePkg line in pacman.conf.  Is it possible that the kernel got upgraded and now it can't load the module for my adapter?  When I do a uname -a it says the kernel rev is 2.6.10, while before the pacman -Syu I think it was 2.6.3.  I notice if I do modprobe CDCEther it says there is no such thing.  I didn't try that before it broke though, I didn't have any reason to check it out since everything was working.  But I assume it would have found the module then since I could get on the network just fine. . .
    What is my best option here?  Does anybody know how I can fix this situation, or should I just reinstall?  And if I do reinstall should I use the ftp install instead of going off the CD like I did this time?
    Thanks,
    Ralph

    I have nailed down the problem more and found a workaround for now.  I'll add the info here in case somebody else finds this post when working on a similar problem.
    I tried changing CDCEther to usbnet in both modprobe.conf and rc.conf as that link I posted above suggested.  That didn't help.  After rebooting I still had no network connection even though lsmod showed the usbnet module was running.
    So I left those files with usbnet in them and downgraded the kernel to the 2.6.3 version on my base install CD from last summer.  After doing that and booting the USB to ethernet adapter is fine and I can get to the internet.  So clearly it was the pacman -Syu upgrading the kernel that broke it, I just don't know why.
    For now I have put kernel26 in my IgnorePkg line of pacman.conf so this won't happen again.  I would guess if I figure out why it broke I could upgrade the kernel by recompiling or using ABS as people suggested above.  But I'll wait till I have a little more experience and know more about why the newer kernel didn't work before I try that.
    Thanks again to iBertus and sarah31 for the help.

    I can't open my lock screen. In this condition, I can received next incoming call, after receiving call my phone works normally.
    pls solve my problem.

    Hey yousufkhalil,
    Here are some troubleshooting steps that might help you out:
    If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
    If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
    If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
    If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
    If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
    Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
    If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
    If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
    If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
    Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
    If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more aboutrestoring iOS software.
    If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
    If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

    I solved the problem. There was an issue with my pacman.conf. Multilib wasn't properly enabled after the pacman4 transition.

    I'm using multilib.
    @Allan
    more fully than pacman -Syu? Or is my mirror not up to date?

  • Where is   sign when you call international number, but first you call local number and after connect open keyboard and see that sign   doesn't exist only 0

    Where is   sign when you call international number, but first you call local number and after connect open keyboard and see that sign   doesn't exist only 0

    No that is not work. Try to call some number and when is connect click on keyboard and you can see that sign "+" doesn't exist.
    So I use local number, when I'm connect I have option to call international number but like "+3193675xxxx" how I can put?
    Before on iOS 6 I do it.

    Apple mail app freezes after first use after reset.  iPad 3 and IOS 8.1.  How do resolve?

    Hi, sixfinger.
    Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    Try forcing all applications to close and restart the device.  Once this is done test to see if the Mail app functions correctly.

  • [solved] Suspicious happenings after pacman update

    Hello folks. I did a pacman -Syu not a few a hours ago and now it appears that all Google services appear to be hijacked.
    The offender is what seems to be called creditpuma.com hijack. I google-fu-d and found that only Windows machines are being infected. google.com is being spoofed to redirect me from each search result to a middleman page on every browser (firefox, opera, chrome) that I have installed. gmail, youtube, google accounts, nor google docs resolve. I wasn't aware that this was possible on Linux, though, as I am posting in Newbie Corner, I am not certain. I'm resetting all of my passwords now and preparing to back up my important documents for a full system nuke. What disturbs me is that this happened /right after/ a pacman system update. It was quite an update too, over 200 packages. I don't run any exploit-prone programs, not to my knowledge, I just develop software and browse the internet. No suspicious websites were visited recently.
    Could someone shed some light on how this might have happened? Which files may be affected?
    Thank you and sorry if this post is stupid.

    esquesque wrote:Thank you for your tips brebs, and I appreciate your skepticism. I probably jumped the gun on that one, and I'm currently working on gathering evidence. It's just that I felt rather emotional at the fact that my invulnerable machine is now vulnerable If this isn't malware then I'm at a loss to what's happening.
    Maybe I'm putting words in his or her mouth, but I don't think brebs was being skeptical about this being malware. I think the skepticism was about whether this is a rootkit.
    Once you tell us whether it's user-specific or affects your whole system, we'll know whether it's a problem with one of the packages, or just something that's been modified in your own user settings.

  • I can't update packages after upgrading pacman to 4.0.3

    I know this was already treated broadly about two months ago, but I can't update after upgrading pacman because of continuous problems with certain signatures (at least one).
    I have already tried this:
    rm -rf /etc/pacman.d/gnupg
    pacman -Scc
    pacman-key --init
    pacman-key --populate archlinux
    But I still get this error when trying to upgrade the system:
    error: virtuoso: signature from "Andrea Scarpino (Arch Linux) <[email protected]>" is invalid
    error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package)
    Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
    Could anybody help me? I'm pretty devastated with this.

    Thanks everyone! I guess it was a faulty mirror.
    I also had problems upgrading glibc because /lib had to be linked to /usr/lib, but I fixed it seeking for helpful tips on the forum. What I did was move everything from /lib to /usr/lib, shutdown, start adding break=postmount to kernel line, mount the filesystem, remove /lib folder, link /usr/lib to /lib and reboot. Then I reinstalled glibc and everything went well.
    Now some fonts look half-cutted in Gnome Shell when the window or panel which contains them is in background and I don't know why. But it is not the first time I have "graphical artifacts" with Arch Linux on this laptop. I think has something to do with the compositing.

    Well
    I tried all of the suggestions, sort of. I did not have alcohol wipes, but I did take alcohol and pour some ona white paper towel and then rolled the mouse touch ball aroound and that finally cleared up the problem.  Just inverting it on paper did not do the reick, it needed some help with the alcohol.  Of course the probelm is the debris that gets inside and it really needs to come out.
    This is a huge problem for RIM devices users too.
