Sorting the year without affecting the tracks

How do I sort the year from most recent to oldest without affecting the order of the tracks?

The most recent albums at the top of the list is "last is listed on top", and apparently Apple has not set up a sub filter to list albums "last on top" while listing tracks "first on top".
If you list Albums "first on top" then the tracks will also be "first on top".
Yeah it's kinky.
At the top of iTunes, click iTunes/Provide iTunes Feedback. Tell Apple what you think.

How do I sort specific cells without affecting entire rows?

In Excel I can sort specific cells ascending/descending and only what I highlight will sort.
In Numbers, when I try to do that the entire row sorts.
Is there a way to only sort the highlighted cells and not have the rest of the rows sort as well?

Here's a link (Dropbox download) to a Copy Sort Acending service, that in your menu would look similar to this:
To use it, select the cells you want to sort, just as in Excel, and make the choice from the menu.
After that, unlike Excel, click once in the first cell where you want the sorted values to start appearing (either the original range, or a different range if you want) and type command-v or option-shift-command-v to paste.
The one-time installation takes a double-click on the .workflow package and a click on 'Install'. You may also have to go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy and click 'Download anyway'. Installing simply moves the service to your Library > Services folder so that it will appear in your menu. It does nothing to the innards of your Mac, and does not run unless you specifically tell it to by choosing it from the menu or running it from within Automator. You can view the script by opening it in Automator. You can remove the service if you don't need it by holding down the option key in Finder, choosing Go from the menu and navigating to Library > Services, where you can delete it the way you would any other folder or package.

Can I sort a column in Numbers without affecting the associate rows?

I have a schedule with date columns and lists of names. I would like to sort the names alphabetically in each column, but the rows are tied to the column. Is there a way to sort each column without effecting the entire table?

Why would you put data in different columns of the same row that don't have any relationship to each other? The purpose of a row is to create a record of related data. The Apple guys are sticklers about things like this. If that bothers you, reverting to Excel is your best option.

I can't change the track's year to 0 using the Organizer

I like to have the year for all the tracks on my Zen Micro set to 0, and I have been able to set them to that in the past, but now it doesn't let me. I change it to 0 and it appears to work, but when I exit Organizer and check my Zen Micro, the year has changed back to what it originally was. The odd thing is that it will let me change it to any other year without changing back, but it always resets when I change it to 0, which has worked fine in the past.
I realise that the years aren't really that important but this is still annoying me and I'd like to be able to fix it. Thank you in advance.

Oh. I see. We all have different preferences. I don't mind the date on mine though.

How to replace a layer which has a mask applied without affecting the mask?

I have a layer with a photo. I have animated a mask on this layer, but now the client wants the photo replaced with another one. When I add a new photo to a new layer and copy the mask properties from the good working layer, the mask winds up in a different place than the original. I've tried doing a replace footage with the source photo trying to make it the new photo but same results, the mask always gets repositioned.
How can I replace an image on a layer that has an animated mask on it with another one without affecting the mask?

Thanks everyone. Now that I understand more about Track Mattes it works fine. I can scale and position new layers under the animated mask. This helps tremendously

Timestretching ESX chops without affecting the pitch

Say I had a sample of a beat at 110 BPM. I changed my mind and wanted it to be drum & bass in stead, 160 BPM. I had already chopped the sample in to ESX 24 and deleted the original sample + track from the arrange window (to get some order in my project.) That means, I don’t have a chance to simply stretch the loop on the timeline by using the ⌥ button.
How do I now stretch the time to 160 BPM without affecting the pitch? First of all I’d need the whole loop in the sample editor, and not just the chops. Any ideas?

Logic's Time and Pitch machine, found within the sample edit window, will do this.
Select the audio region, open the sample edit window, and under the factory sub-menu, you'll see "Time and Pitch Machine"
When it opens, you have some options to play with, such as the algorithm, etc... FYI... 100 cents is equal to one half step.
Many here (myself included) will tell you that you can probably get better results using third party software, but sometimes the Time and Pitch machine can come through very well, depending on the source material, of course

How can I copy albums from itunes to an SD card without splitting the tracks?

I've tried putting albums onto an SD card from itunes on my Macbook Pro by dragging & dropping, but all the tracks have been split up. When I access the SD card the tracks are mixed up and not grouped together in albums.
I've also tried to find my itunes files but unable to locate them using finder.
Any help would be welcome.

When you have albums in iTunes the songs are organized because iTunes is a database. When you copy the albums/tracks to an SD card (or any other location) they are just files, there is no database keeping them in order. So the order you see on the SD card is whatever sorting order you have the Finder set for (or other program if you are using it).
The easiest way to ensure track files are in the desired order on a disk is to preface the track name with a sequence number ... so, for example, you rename Black Magic Woman as 01-Black Magic Woman, etc.
The location of your iTunes Library is normally users/yourusername/Music/iTunes ... and your actual media files (albums & songs) are in a subfolder named iTunes Music

Very simple. Turn off Find my iDevice, then Tap Settings, General, Erase, Erase all content and settings.

I am using the "NivoSlider", for my dreamweaver page but I am not sure how to tell styles that one page has one attribute and the other one will have a different attribute.
For example: in my "about us" I have a small slideshow with its own pictures. I then put a gallery page with its own pictures, yet, I want to make that slideshow box larger without affecting the other small slideshow.
I am using just one Style.CSS for the slideshow.
Anyways, is their a way to tell tell the code that one page is going to be a different width then the other?

Embedded CSS rules take priority over styles in external style sheets. So you can add page specific rules between your document's <head> tags and after all other links to external CSS files.

If it requires a Photoshop CS5 re-install, (I belief that it may fix the problem) and re-install the two third party plugins (NIK Viveza) and (Onone Perfect Resize) how and where do I get to the proper Adobe upload page to do that.
I have tried to fix this problem by changing the memory allocations, I have spend many hours on it and are very disgusted with it but it needs to be fixed. The current memory settings are;
Ram available = 1588 MB
Range = 873 -1143 MB
Recommended Photoshop usage range = 857 however I have tried every setting to max and in between. Nothing works. Current setting = 1588 (max)

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I need some help in hiding particular rows in an ALV Grid without affecting the total sum at the end of the table. I am trying to hide the rows that have negative quantities, but I still need those values so that the user can still compute for the total sums. Can anyone help? Thanks.

The phone MUST have a SIM present in order for activation to complete. The process will not finish otherwise.
For the OP:
If the iPhone 5 is locked to a carrier, you must use a SIM from that same carrier. Otherwise I think you would be OK borrowing the SIM to activate the phone.

I used the option to restore from the external backup driveand went back some time as it was my intention to reinstall individualcomponent in an attempt to find out where the problem might lie. This hasintroduced an entirely new problem! If I open Time Machine from the desktop itappears that all backups from late 2009 to June 2011 are intact. But, in thiscase there are none of the restore functions &c on screen. The latter areonly shown if Time Machine is opened from the menu bar or from the dock but, inthis case, available are only backups in late 2009!
I also opened the Apple Hardware Test in an attempt toestablish the nature of the problem. The ‘quick’ version said there’s nothingwrong; the more detailed one reported “Error detected, 4HD/11/40000004.” I haveagain tried to employ this test but nothing I do can induce it to open!!!
What to do? I need help urgently and would appreciate anyadvice that offers solutions to the problem.
