after firefox updated 2 days ago I hear commercials coming from pc speakers for no reason. They seem to be movie trailers. I also am showing high memory usage in svchost.exe

First, try to reset Firefox. [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]]. This simple step will eliminate many Firefox problems with only one click.
A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this:
Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.
Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Update all your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): [http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/].
Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. [http://www.malwarebytes.org/ http://www.malwarebytes.org/]. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

After upgrade firefox does not ask for restart

On Linux Mint when Firefox is opened and meanwhile operating system package manager upgrades Firefox, then FF does not notify me that it needs restart.
I notice it since some extension stops working. Later I have checked package manager logs and see, that FF had been updated. Wasn't in older versions so that FF notified me that restart is needed for firefox?
Is it a bug or I have some setting missing. I need notification window be visible as long as user closes it or firefox is restarted...

Looks like that yea. I found out that for Ubuntu there is xul-ext-ubufox package which should do almost needed thing. I will install it into mint.

Attachments dont work in yahoo after upgrading firefox

After upgrading firefox. I can non longer attach documents to yahoo emails.
If I switch to internet explorer as browser, I have no problem with attachments.

Iphone 5s Hangs randomly after upgrading to IOS 8

I am bit worried about IOS upgrade. I am using Iphone 5s since March 2014. Till date it was working fine. But when I upgraded my Iphone from IOS 7.1.2 to IOS 8 problem starts arriving.
Symptoms : 1. The phone hangs randomly after upgrade.
2. After selecting any application , it disappear suddenly. I have to start the application again. This mostly happen when I select Setting icon
This is very much embarrassing that I am using one of the best phone in the world and it hangs automatically when I need it most.
The only resolution for hang phone is to reboot.
I upgraded to latest IOS 8.0.2 but still no improvement. I am expecting Apple team to look into this issue and resolve it. Waiting for your response.

I have 5 Iphone 5's and Ipad Air. All upgraded to ios8. Everyone locks! it is so locked you have to hold home button and power button serial times. It reboots and just shows apple. When you use Safari, or type a text message, they just get behind then lock up with half a screen or half the icons.
All my kids hate their devices now. I know Apple will fix. It is scary as i have never seen iPhones actually lock up and un-usable. this should have been caught in Beta. Perhaps Apple should get some "Real" outside normal users to beta. The ones they are using are not catching this stuff. Code is complicated, Apple has the best minds, Just keep holding the Home button and power button. Eventually it will reboot. Then close all the open apps. and don't tilt the phone sideways.
Also close all un-used webpages left open in safari. this seems to fix.
As for the Bug about lagging while texting and half screen lock ups. that needs to be fixed ASAP.
I know from building things, there is always a few hiccups. Yelling won't do anything, give Apple a chance to fix it. I love Apple, and will continue to purchase the items. The world economy is changing, suppliers are going green, thus you get cheap bendable parts too. Apple will find the middle ground and work the problem. Please all post they read these blogs.
If Apple deletes your posts and denies these problems then email Tim Cook. He does listen. Give it a week then it will all be sorted out. If apple sold iPhone 6 pluses that bend, then i am sure they will offer a replacement. Apple does care, May seem arrogant but they always come through at the end.
Hang in there, i always rush and put the update on the minute it comes out, over and over, then complain about the bugs. Better to wait a month. i am addicted to new and better and just click upgrade. My fault too. I know better after 37 years with apple.

QuickTime in Safari cannot play video after upgrading to iTunes 10.2

After upgrading to iTunes 10.2 and QuickTime 10 on my MacBook Pro, the latest Quicktime version embedded in Safari is behaving strangely. When I want to play video on certain websites like " http://www.lynda.com/Aperture-3-tutorials/essential-training/59221-2.html ", the Quicktime logo on Safari browser appears and just sits there with sound only. I tried it on Firefox, the video can only be played on the lower part of my suddenly splitted screen, there is an "error" message on a Quicktime logo background.
Could anybody help me solve the problem. By the way, all these videos can be played normally on my Windows 7 desktop using both Firefox and Safari for Windows.

To make the matter more weird, the QuickTime plays normally on my Safari after I log out and switch to the administrator account of the MacBook Pro. When I change back to a normal account, the QuickTime error takes place again. It seems there must be something I configured wrongly.

Problem using Yahoo Video Playlists after upgrading Firefox

I have Created Yahoo playlists in the past and after upgrading my Firefox they no longer work. meaning when i click on a playlist everything loads properly except the video itself and I can't play any of the other videos in the playlist either. Also i can't add new songs to those playlists or rate those videos either.

This is not a Firefox issue, you could try downgrading to version 18 or 17 but Yahoo needs to update their toolbar and they haven't been doing anything to solve issues regarding them except by laying the blame on us.

My Mac mini 2012 started making whistling sounds during download after upgrading to Maverick.

Personally, I feel that it is the new OS. I downloaded memory clean (since I had lion), and no matter what I am now always running less that 1GB of RAM (8GB currently on board). Every time I switch between text (websites and documents), to video. I always find that when I switch between them, it takes at least 20 seconds for the video to play (and after I click it, I start to hear my fan blow like never before). Even tonight when I tried to play a video off an external hard drive, it took over 30 seconds to load...and when it did, it responded by the hard drive disconnecting (with the fan). And I think it was the worst update for the mac mini...at least.
But I do feel if your fan is blowing more than normal, it due to the update. But if it’s blowing. But sounding weird...there maybe a hardware issue with it.

I see you are using a PPC Mac with OSX 10.5.8.
Either you can use the last release from Mozilla worked on PPC which is 3.6.*.

have you tried using imap instead?
if you can access your email from the web page then sounds more like a problem with windows live mail and not your BT account

After upgrading Firefox to v. 9.0, bookmarks in Firefox Home (on iPad 2 iOS 5) don't appear correctly sorted

Firefox Home was running fine on my iPad 2 iOS 5 until I upgraded Firefox to v. 9.0 on my desktop computer running Win7-64bit.
After the upgrade, Firefox Home shows my bookmarks unsorted within folders (containing subfolders).

The megaupload toolbar changed your useragent. To change it back so that it shows 3.6.7, type '''about:config''' into the location bar. You will get a warning message, accept the warning.
This will bring up a list of settings, in the filter box type''' useragent''', this will bring up a small number of settings. Right-click on each of them and choose '''Reset'''. (Reset is only available for any setting that has been modified).
This should solve your problem.

Unable to send text and play music after upgrading to IOS 6.1

After upgrading to IOS 6.1, I am having problems sending text messages (sms) to several of the contacts to whom I was able to send text earlier. Also all the songs I have downloaded previously from iStore have all stopped playing. Being a new IPhone convert I am seriously regretting why I got rid of my Blackberry

I can understand how you are upset, MJ406. I want to make sure that we do everything we can to get the text messages up and running with out any kind of problems.
When you are trying to send these text messages out are you connected to Wi-Fi or the cell network? If you are connected to wi-fi please do me a favor and turn of the wi-fi, try to send a text to see if it goes out without any kind of issues. Then go into Settings, Application Manager, Slide the screen to the ALL section, Scroll to Messaging and perform a force stop, clear cache, and clear data. Once that is done, power the device off and then turn back on. Once it is back up and running you can turn the wi-fi back on (if you had to turn it off) and retry sending a text message again.

After upgrading Firefox all the icons of all my bookmarks disappear.

After upgrading next version of Firefox all my bookmarks have lost their icons. To restore an icon I have to click on that bookmark and load a web pade again. That brings back an icon.
But I have so many icons that I can't just go through all of them.
I appriciate any help on this matter.

There was an issue with Firefox 9 that caused this type of behavior. It has been fixed in Firefox 10 though. You might want to try the Firefox 9 version of [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/latest-firefox-issues#os=mac&browser=fx9 this article] to see if the steps work for you.
You could also try an add-on to customize your favicons:

Video iPod Stopped Playing Video After Upgrade to 1.2

Hi everyone.
I upgraded mine and my boss' 5th Generation iPods (both are 60 Gig) to version 1.2.
Mine works fine, but he is getting on an airplane and his video stopped working after a few minutes of watching a movie.
Aside from reloading the software (which isn't an option at this point as he is on the plane) does anyone have any suggestions?
Has this happened to anyone else?
I can tell him to reset it, but any other ideas??

Now I can no longer view any of my videos (which I purchased online from Apple Music Store) on my iTunes...AND after upgrading to V1.2... now they won't download into any of my 3 iPods either!
(error msg: Video X was not copied because the video format was not supported by your iPod)...these Apple-supplied Pixar videos are in MPEG4 (.m4V format)?
