  • HT4993 My volume down button is not working.  The UP button works, but not the down button.  I have tried to restart it and that didn't solve the problem.

My volume down button doesn't work on my iPhone.  The UP buttown works, but not the down button.  I have tried a hard reset and that didn't fix it.

    Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

When I go "system preferences" "sound" There is no option to activate the internal speakers. How do I restore it?

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article.
    2. If your model has an audio-out (headphone) port, and a red light is coming from it, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    3. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones.
    4. Boot in safe mode. Don't log in; just reboot as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    5. Reset the NVRAM.
    6. Reset the SMC.
    7. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
    8. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

  • When I plug in my ipod touch the sound works but not the video

I got this app for my kids and I want to play it on my tv the sound works not the video.   But when I put the same app on my iphone 4s it works fine on my tv using same cord etc  I don't know if there is something I need to do to my ipod to make it work.

The 4G iPod TV (video) out only works with apps that support TV out. The Video app is one such app. The iPhone 4S (and later iPhones, the 5G iPod and iPad 2 and later) on the other hand can mirror the iPod's screen for TV out.

  • One charger works but not the other

Just had something weird happen to my Macbook (13' 2.4GHz Model). I tried plugging in my adapter (L shaped one) and it was not charging. LED light was not lit up on the charger and connection felt loose. So i thought this meant I have a damaged port.
Just to be sure, I took out the T shaped adapter that I had kept from the previous macbook and lo and behold it is charging my macbook. The connect is loos-ish but not as bad as before. So that made me think the L shaped adapter was damaged. But then when i tested that it out on my old macbook which began charging as if nothing was wrong. The connection was a lot stronger.
Now my question is, should I get my magsafe port on my newer machine checked out or should I continue to use the T shaped adapter? And if I should replace the port would I be able to replace the existing port with the port in the older machine (machine has damaged logic board so it's really just for parts)

Actually, there are other threads about another issue that sounds similar. If you remove your battery and replace it, the charger will begin working. If for some reason this does not work, you can reset your SMC.
Until this is fixed, my new method for plugging in my 2008 Macbook Pro is to plug it in before opening the cover, and if it doesn't work, then remove and replace the battery before opening. That way, if it is sleeping (LED pulsating) when the battery is replaced it will restore sleep from the saved image. If you were to remove the battery too soon after closing the lid, it would be in the process of saving the sleep data, and a full restart would be needed.

  • My audio works but not the video

My audio will work but when I want to watch any video on any different app the video doesn't work.why?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My Stocks widget is not working.  The graph part works, but not the stock value section.

My Stock widget is not working.  No prices are displayed.  Fix?

If it is the Apple provided widget, Yahoo! Finance, there have been a rash of problems lately - see the More Like This box at the top right.
    1. If you have any mutual funds loaded, try removing them.
    2. Try opening a 2nd copy of the widget. That has worked for me a couple of times.
    3. If you have a backup, try restoring the widget. It is normally in the hard drive/Library. It might be in your user folder/Libary also. See below on how to access your user library.
    4. Try removing the com.apple.dashboard.plist in your user folder.
You need to look in your user Library/Preferences for the .plist. Either hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command and select your user Library in your home folder or use the Finder “Go To Folder” command and enter ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dashboard.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.
Log out/in and test. If it works okay, delete the plist(s) from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist(s) to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
    Show User Library
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.4. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • Pings work but not the content

    Hi All,
I have a server 10.56.3.40 trying to access a page 10.56.10.11 which is the VIP address for the content delivered by 10.56.3.50, 60 and 70.
I can ping 10.56.10.11 from 10.56.3.40 but when I access the webpage www.net.com (DNS resolves this to the VIP address 10.56.10.11), I cannot access it.
I have the load balancer sitting in between a firewall and the server vlan203 (10.56.3.x).
The VIP address for the contents are 10.56.10.x. The CSS has 2 interfaces (one to fw with ip 10.56.10.3 and one to server vlan 203 with ip 10.56.3.3.). I have the following config

I do not see any asymetric routing. But not sure why port 80 traffic is not accessible from vlan203.

    classic nat issue.
When x.x.3.40 goes to the vip, the destination address is changed to one of the servers ie: x.x.3.50.
Now, the response from x.x.3.50 must be sent to....x.x.3.40
They are on the same subnet, so x.x.3.50 responds directly to x.x.3.40, bypassing the CSS.
You need to do client naton the css to nat request from the servers.
    service servicex40
    ip address 10.56.3.40
    active
    group servernat
    vip address 10.56.10.11
    add service servicex40
    active
If more addresses need to be nated, you may want to use acl to do this.
This has been discussed many times, so you should be able to find sample configs and documentation.
    Regards,
    Gilles.

  • Sound heard through headphones, but not with internal speakers

Recently, my computer stopped producing sound from the speakers. However, I plug in headphones and everything can be heard. I've already checked Sound in System Preferences. Nothing is muted and all sliders are in the correct position. In the Output Pane, my only option for the output source is headphones, no internal speakers. What happened? What should I do?

I recently got the same problem. Its not that bad but confused me at first. If that is the worst problem you get with your computer consider yourself lucky. You could bring it by an apple store genius and see what they say but its most likely a switch problem like tteuer said. If my memory serves me right that switch is connected to the logic board, if you have it still under warranty, great, if not, you might as well get another laptop if it really bothers you.
Tip: I have made it work by either slowly removing the headphone from the jack or rotating it. If that did not work the first time I repeated it.

  • Sound from external speakers, but not from internal speakers

I tried searching as much as I could and couldn't find an answer....
I always use my function keys to turn my volume up and down. It has worked fine until today, then all of a sudden, my internal speakers wont turn up or down when I use my function keys. The volume window comes up and below the volume level bar there is a circle with a line through it (like no smoking sign, but without the cigarette)which I guess leaves my internal speakers on mute.
So i came home, and plug in my logitech speakers, and I can control the volume fine from my function keys. Then I disconnect my logitech speakers from my computer and I get the same problem with my internal speakers.
I probably confused everyone but I guess a short version is my function keys wont turn on my internal speakers, and when I have external speakers plugged in, everything is normal.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Brendan

If you look in the headphone jack, can you see a glowing red light? This happened to many people, it was an issue where a switch got tripped to make the computer to think that a pair of headphones or external speakers were plugged in. Try inserting a toothpick inside the headphone jack and gently probing around in there to try and turn off the switch.
    See here.
And by the way, you don't need to bump topics that are only three hours old.

Go to the link below.Enter your Product Number as listed on Service Tag attached to bottom of notebook (may be under battery). You can also get the Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key. After entering PN, click Next ,then choose Software & Drivers. On the next page use the dropdown to select your OS (probably Windows 7 64bit). A list will populate with drivers. Download & Save the latest Audio driver.

  • I bought an I phone 5 in the USA in April. Worked fine until yesterday. will not connect the telephone now. the internet works but not the telephone.

I phone 5 purchased in USA not tied to provider. Brought to Azerbaijan and set up with Elcell - worked good for 3 months - then would not connect the telephone. SIM card OK as it works in other phones.

Warranty and support is only valid in the country of origin. Return the device to the US for evaluation and possible replacement.

  • I have audio working, but not the microphone on my toshiba satellite

Hi there, I'm a newbie to the arch way, but I'm not a newbie to linux, however I'm pretty stumped with this one (I'm not used to having to look after everything, but I'm loving it!) I have a Toshiba Satellite C650D-10W, and it has a very annoying soundcard built into it. I have the sound working, thankfully, however I cannot get the inbuilt mic to function. Some info here:

looks like we've got the same chipset.
one stupid pdf-file found on hp.com sais that the codec is ADI 1984AJCPZ High Definition CODEC, but I can't be sure...
i tried different model= parameters to snd-hda-intel module, but nothin helps
i can capture external jack-in microphone only if external jack-out is free (which is completely stupid for home audio studio experiencing)
internal phones are not mute automatically until jack-in freed (but i can easily mute them in alsamixer instead)
if anyone find a workaround or anything useful, please report here or use my contacts
