Soundfont Manager initialization fai

My problem is fully described in the title to this thread, but a little backstory might be helpful:
I used to do a lot of musical composition and work with MIDI on a computer with an Audigy soundcard. This computer had the Creative Software Suite installed, and I found the Soundfont Bank Manager an indispensable resource. But in the fullness of time, the computer gave up the ghost, and died. :-)
So now I have to do all my MIDI stuff on another computer, that I bought on eBay. This computer has a SB Li've! 24-bit card, but did not come with any CDs for the soundcard. I searched around on the web to find a place where I could get the Bank Manager, and found out, from this forum, that one could download ISOs of the Creative soundcard driver and software suite CDs. So I got the one for the Li've! 24-bit, and installed the Creative Software Suite on my computer. The Bank Manager was not installed automatically with the other programs, but again I found out from reading this forum where on the CD the installer for it could be found, and so I installed it.
And now we come to my problem: Whenever I run the Soundfont Bank Manager, a popup window appears, saying "". However, all the other programs work fine. Does anyone know what is causing the error, and how to fix it's
Thanks,
Mark

  • "Soundfont Manager initialization failed"

    Hey there, folks. S.O.S! Please help me, someone.
    Please keep any negative comments regarding the equipment / software I am using, to yourselves. Helpful comments ONLY, please. I saw similar forum threads regarding my problem, but either they were not completely answered or it didn't relate to my specific computer / OS / programs.
    I am running Cakewalk Pro Audio 9, on Windows XP. Also, I am using a TASCAM Midi Interface (US144 MK II).
    My soundcard is the Soundblaster Live! Though I realize some of these software programs are no longer supported, I have been running them before my recent unrelated computer crash, and they still work when configured correctly.
    When I click on the "Soundfont Bank Manager" (SFCM MFC Application for WinXP), the error message reads: "SoundFont Manager initialization failed."
    I have been told that this is because I need to download SOMETHING like (drivers/registration files), or something to that effect. HELP! HELP!!!

    Anyone? Please? Bueller????

I have tried adjusting the cache level (I have 2 GB of RAM BTW in my system), I keep getting an error can not load. Please HELP!!! I even tried the registry edit.. It did not help one bit.. appears its an issue with the program! What should I do?

    hmmm for some reason when you call your EJB and it throws an exception, the JTA transaction is marked as rollbakc so the BPEL EM engine fails to save the instance.
    Could you please provide us some additional pieces of information:
    obversion.bat.
    The exact exception that your EJB throws.
    JTA configuration of your bean
    Have you looked at the BankTransfer demo?

  • Tape management & initialization - BRBACKUP

    Hi,
    We have ECC 6.0 with Oracle on AIX 5.3.
    I am taking backups onto tape using BRTools. The device file BRBackup recognizing is /dev/rmt0.1
    First, I initialize the tape with the command:
    brbackup -i force -v <tape volume name>
    Then I will use BRTools to trigger backup.
    My query is :
    I have a set of 20 tapes loaded on to the cartridge. When all the 20 tapes are finished, I will have to take backup on to the 1st tape again. However, there will be a backup taken earlier on this tape.
    How do I handle the tape that is already written once?
    Do I need to initialize it again with a new volume name?
    Is the new backup appended to the already taken backup or is it written from the beginning of the tape?
    How do I restore the the current backup in case of a necessity?
    Thanks for your help,
    Abdul

    Hi
    tape_address=/dev/rmt0.1 and tape_address=/dev/rmt0 are pointing to the Tape Device Drivers to achieve two different functionalities/characteristics of that connected Tape Device/Drive in AIX system. Both are Operating System specifics.
    Both are used for positioning and rewind operations while performing backup/restore operations using BR Programs.
    Please refer [this useful link|http://blog.worldiswelcome.com/science-and-technology/aix/backups/2009/03/all-you-wanted-to-know-about-aix-tape-device-backups-ii/] to get more information.
    with /dev/rmt0 (rewind driver)
    The backup/restore operation will start at the point where the device pointer is at present.But, the tape is rewinded to Zero position once the backup/restore operation is finished.
    with /dev/rmt0.1 (no-rewind driver)
    The backup/restore operation will start from the previous point where the pointer was, at the end of previous backup/restore operation. Similarly, the tape is not rewinded to start after the backup/restore operation is finished.This is the most common option used in tape backups.
    As per this [SAP Note 4160 - Tape management for recovery|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/4160],
    When using the "rewind driver" , the tape is automatically rewound to the beginning after completion of the command.
    Positioning (e.g. mt -f/dev/rmt/0mnfsf <#>) sets the tape to the<#+1> file. E.g.:
    mt-f /dev/rmt/0mnfsf 4 positions to the 5th file.
    The "rewind driver" must used for rewind, the "norewind driver" for positioning.
    Use the"norewind driver" for restore and file displaying, so that the tape head is then always automatically set to the next cpio block.
    The value of expire_period is the retention period for the Tapes writen by BRBACKUP/BRARCHIVE. If you have set expire_period=5 then, on 6th day the Tape will be overwritten. It means that writing to a volume is possible 5 days after the volume was mounted and used.
    Please do not change the existing settings of tape_address and tape_Address_rew parameters.
    By keeping in mind the following factors,You can design your Backup Cycle Strategy.
    The Role of System in Business, the Size of Database, The size of Tape, Growth Rate of Database, Number of Backups per Backup Cycle, Frequency of Backup operations, The data protection period, etc.

  • SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Soundfont Manager Prob

    Hey everybody how you doin?
    ok here is my problem i installed all the latest updates for SBAudigy 2 and software.
    But now i am using that Soundfont Bank Manager and when i play with my MICE there are no problems. but when i play with my Keyboard on the notes the sound are hicking up and some wont' play. I had before this a soundblaster li've 5. and there the Creative Keyboard worked great (i reinstalled my PC so there are no traces left of the old drivers) So can someone pleace help me and if you don't understand what i typed ill try then to explain it better.
    Thanks

    Hi!
    I've had those same drivers installed since I started hanging around on here.
    And yes, my card was OEM version. It came in a little sealed plastic wrap and with one CD-R that had 'Audigy 2' written on it. That CD had NO software on it at all. Just a driver (SB Audigy) which I had to update to the one you mentioned in the above post anyway.
    What I'm interested in is the software, specifically Audio HQ so that I may use the SPDIF passthroug option! I'm even willing to buy the CD if it's available.
    Also, I've tried to get some of the software programs from this site but they seem to be just updates, not the actual full version programs.
    Thanks!

  • Graphic EQ/Surround Mixer/Soundfont Manager for Audigy 4

    When I originally got my Audigy 4 SE OEM version, I downloaded the driver and software for it from this website. The cd that came with it had only the driver, and I figured the site would have a more up-to-date version of that anyway. The package I downloaded included the driver, the soundfont bank manager, the surround mixer, the graphic equalizer, and other useful bits of software.
    I recently reinstalled Windows, and when I re-downloaded the driver package, I discovered it now comes with only the driver itself and the Creative audio console. I searched the forums looking for others asking the same question, but only found people linking to ISOs of the install cds, and the only one that was for Audigy 4 wouldn't install for me. I'd like to know where I can find the full package, and also, why has all this software disappeared from the downloads section of this site?

    you can try here but I don't know if it has the CD for your card.

  • Will SoundFont Bank Manager work with Audigy SE in Vista x64?

    = I have been a LONGtime Creative Labs product user, back to the days of the SB Pro and continuing through SB Li've, and now (with my newer Vista x64 system) I just purchased a SB0570 Audigy SE card because it claimed Vista compatibility. I am a musician and desire to be able to use different SoundFonts.
    I am unable to get SoundFont Bank Manager to install. When I first installed the card, I declined to install the Creative MediaSource software (I already have an earlier version of MediaSource working on my computer which I need for my Zen MP3 player, and which does not have MP3 encoding crippled). I have searched the forum and tried various downloads, but it appears that SF Bank Manager is not going to work in Vista x64 with my Audigy SE.
    Does ANYONE have this working? If so, how? All the other threads talk about either the X-Fi cards OR Audigy 2 etc OR they say SounFont Bank Manager works in XP only.
    I did try Synthfont and it does switch soundfonts successfully so this is not a limitation of the hardware.

    A I donwloaded the latest SF Bank Manager for the X-Fi Extreme Music card from the Asia Creative site (SFBM_PCAPP_LB_3_2_00.exe), which should work in Vista x64. It does install, but won't run ("SoundFont Manager initialization failed" error). Any help on that one?Message Edited by Jsouth on 02-08-2009 2:08 [email protected]

  • Soundfont Bank Manager and Windows Vista/Seven (64 bits)

    Hi everyone !
    Well I own a SB Audigy SE, running on Windows 7/Vista in 64 bits architecture. The fact is, when I try to launch the SF Bank Manager, I do have an error message : "SoundFont bank manager initialization failure".
    I tried to run it in various compatibility modes (XP, Vista, etc ), nothing works. The SB audigy SE is SoundFont .x and 2.x compatible, so I don't understand why it does not work.
    Does a version of the SF Bank Manager exist for 64 bits versions of Vista/Seven
    PS : the same kind of problem appears with Vienna SF Editor (latest version) : the software does not find any "SoundFont compatible" device.

    Going on what Daniel has posted here,

  • Session Manager Problem

    Hello,
    after creating some IVI Drivers I wanted to create an IVI Steptype for Teststand 4.2.0. After searching, I found the Session manager which was created to simplify management of different kind of sessions (IVI, VISA..) in Teststand. Unfortunately I'm not able to find any helpful documentation (except the "NI Session Manager Help") describing in which way the session manager initializes a session. The example shipped with Teststand uses different functions than described in the help file (& function panel). Here is a snippet which describes my problem:
    <<....>>
    SMObj_IInstrSession session = 0;
    CAObjHandle smSession = 0;
    long instrHandle = 0;
    char * logicalName = 0;
    SM_NewIInstrSessionMgr(NULL, 1, LOCALE_NEUTRAL, 0, &smSession);
    SM_IInstrSessionMgrGetInstrSession (smSession, NULL, logicalName, VTRUE, &session);
    //SM_IInstrSessionInitialize(session, NULL, "") ); //not necessary, getHandle intializes session
    SM_IInstrSessionGetHandle(session, NULL, SMConst_SpecificDriver, &instrHandle);
    <<....>>
    If I try to call a IVI High Level Function I'll get a "A connection to the instrument has not been initialized" error.
    The IVI Driver is initialized, because the init Function is executed and the SM_IInstrSessionGetStateDescription(...) function also displays that the session is initialized. Anyone has an idea why this happens?
    I have used the driver several times in Teststand without any problems and the settings in MAX are also correct. I'm using LabWindows 8.1.
    Thanks in advance
    7even

    Example is from the Teststand Directory ("TestStand 4.2\Examples\SessionMgr"). I have now changed some lines in my code. It is exactly the same way the example shows:
    __declspec(dllexport) void _stdcall ExecutePMIStep(CAObjHandle context)
    ERRORINFO errorInfo;
    ErrMsg errMsg = "";
    int error = 0;
    CAObjHandle step = 0;
    CAObjHandle engine = 0;
    char * logicalName = "TestSession";
    ViSession handle;
    CAObjHandle session = 0;
    tsErrChk( TS_SeqContextGetEngine (context, &errorInfo, &engine)); //Get Teststandengine
    tsErrChk( TS_SeqContextGetStep (context, &errorInfo, &step)); //Get Step
    tsErrChk( SM_GetSession(logicalName, &session, &errorInfo));
    tsErrChk( SM_GetHandle (session, NULL, SMConst_ClassDriver,
    &handle, &errorInfo));
    errChk( IOLMClass_SetMode(handle, 1, 23) ); //Custom Class Driver
    Error:
    If I execute these lines I'll get a "BFFA1190 The session handle is not valid. " error.

  • Help with RTP: Format of Stream not supported in RTP Session Manager

    Hello everyone,
    I am quite new to JMF and RTP. So far I've succeeded in capturing audio from the microphone and playing it back. However, I failed when I tried to send the stream over using RTP.
    Here's my program, all it does is: get a DataSource from the CaptureDevice, create a Processor with that DataSource, convert the tracks in the Processor to one of the RTP formats, and create an RTP SendStream using the Processor's output DataSource.
    I can hear sound by creating a Player for the DataSource; however I get errors when I try to create RTP SendStream for the same output DataSource.
    Here's my code:
                CaptureDeviceInfo cdinfo;
                Format fmt = new AudioFormat(AudioFormat.LINEAR, 8000, 8, 1);
                Vector deviceList = CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList(fmt);
                if (deviceList.size() > 0) {
                    System.out.println("Device Found.");
                    cdinfo = (CaptureDeviceInfo) deviceList.firstElement();
                } else {
                    System.out.println("No device!");
                    return;
                DataSource ds = Manager.createDataSource(cdinfo.getLocator());
                Processor processor = Manager.createProcessor(ds);
                StateHelper sh = new StateHelper(processor);
                if (!sh.configure(10000)) {
                    System.out.println("Could not configure...");
                    System.exit(-1);
                // Get the track control objects
                TrackControl track[] = processor.getTrackControls();
                System.out.println("Number of tracks:" + track.length);
                boolean encodingPossible = false;
                // Go through the tracks and try to program one of them to outout some "RTP format"
                for (int i = 0; i < track.length; i++) {
                    try {
                        track.setFormat(new AudioFormat(AudioFormat.DVI_RTP));
    encodingPossible = true;
    } catch (Exception e) {
    // cannot convert
    track[i].setEnabled(false);
    if (!encodingPossible) {
    System.out.println("Could not encode..");
    sh.close();
    return;
    processor.setContentDescriptor(new ContentDescriptor(ContentDescriptor.RAW));
    if (!sh.realize(10000)) {
    System.out.println("Could not realize...");
    System.exit(-1);
    System.out.println("Realized...");
    DataSource outSource = processor.getDataOutput();
    System.out.println(outSource.getContentType());
    processor.start();
    player = Manager.createRealizedPlayer(outSource);
    player.start();
    SessionAddress addr = new SessionAddress(InetAddress.getByName("224.144.251.104"), 8194, 4);
    manager.initialize(addr);
    //manager.addFormat(new AudioFormat(AudioFormat.GSM_RTP), 1);
    System.out.println("RTP Session started...");
    stream = manager.createSendStream(processor.getDataOutput(), 0);
    I get an error on the last line, the error is: javax.media.format.UnsupportedFormatException: Format of Stream not supported in RTP Session Manager And again, if I try to encode the tracks into *AudioFormat.GSM_RTP* instead of *DVI_RTP*, I get a different error on the same line:Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NullPointerExceptionWell I don't understand what's happening, is there something I need to do before I can use RTP?
    Hope you guys help     Hi,
    seems that you are encoding a track to RTP format but outputting a RAW format.
    Your encoding section is also a little bit lazy as you don't check supported formats...
    Try this between configured and realized state:
              // Get the tracks from the processor
              TrackControl [] tracks = processor.getTrackControls();
              // Do we have at least one track?
              if (tracks == null || tracks.length < 1)
                  return "Couldn't find tracks in processor";
              // Set the output content descriptor to RAW_RTP
              // This will limit the supported formats reported from
              // Track.getSupportedFormats to only valid RTP formats.
              ContentDescriptor cd = new ContentDescriptor(ContentDescriptor.RAW_RTP);
              processor.setContentDescriptor(cd);
              Format supported[];
              Format chosen;
              boolean atLeastOneTrack = false;
              // Program the tracks.
              for (int i = 0; i < tracks.length; i++) {
                  Format format = tracks.getFormat();
              log.info("Input format for RTP conversion: " + format);
              if (tracks[i].isEnabled()) {
                   supported = tracks[i].getSupportedFormats();
                   // We've set the output content to the RAW_RTP.
                   // So all the supported formats should work with RTP.
                   if (supported.length > 0) {
                        if (supported[i] instanceof VideoFormat) {
                             tracks[i].setEnabled(false);
                             continue;
                   else if (supported[i] instanceof AudioFormat) {
                        // set audio format for RTP transmission
                        chosen = new AudioFormat(AudioFormat.DVI_RTP);
                        tracks[i].setFormat(chosen);
                        tracks[i].setEnabled(true);
                        atLeastOneTrack = true;
                   else
                        tracks[i].setEnabled(false);
                   else
                   tracks[i].setEnabled(false);
              else
                   tracks[i].setEnabled(false);
              if (!atLeastOneTrack)
              return "Couldn't set any of the tracks to a valid RTP format";
    The important thing should be theContentDescriptor cd = new ContentDescriptor(ContentDescriptor.RAW_RTP);part.
