There's no reason for a standard external USB hard drive enclosure not to work on a Mac. The technology is an industry standard. As you don't link to the specific item, we can't say anything about the quality, ect... but I guess for $1 you don't have much to loose. So long as you're sure the drive you have is an older IDE drive (as most drive for the past few years have been SATA). I guess that may be why they're selling so cheap as IDE drives are pretty rare in notebooks anymore.

  • Anyone had experience with 5D firmware 2.0.3, EOS Movie Plugin?

I just downloaded it. How does it work in terms of bringing in new 5D movies to Final Cut?

    HI H.
If you are not familiar with using FCP's Log and Transfer interface then the process will be a strange new experience for you ... but a good one, I hope Following the introduction of the E1 Movie plugin there were a number of good workflow walkthroughs posted for folks in your position .. here are a few links to get you started:

  • Has anyone had experience with the new moire slider under the adjustment brush in LR4?

There's a new moire removal tool under the adjustment brush in LR4. In the near future I expect to have photos that contain moire patterns. Has anyone used this tool yet? I'd like to get an inkling as to how effective it is.

There is an example of moiré on the Nikon Imaging site for the D800E.
    http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/dslr/d800/features01.htm
I was able to reduce the moiré significantly, but not eliminate it with the Lightroom 4 adjustment brush. I haven't found any software solutions that can completely repair moiré. The Lightroom 4 feature seems about as good as any I've tried.

  • Has anyone here had experience with a Sony NEX-VG10/E m2ts file?

A recently created file with this video camera, and importing its m2ts file into Permiere Pro CS5 is proving offering disappointing rsults.  The images are fuzzy and there is a great deal of what appears to be interlace issues.  If it were not for other programs playing these files very clearly I would dismiss them as coming from an inferior camera.
Is there anyone here who has had experience with these files and editing them in PPCS5?
The file in question is shown as being a "File type: TS(AVC) Format" and the "Image size is 1440 x 1080"
    Hoping to hear from someone.
    Cheers,
    Michael

    Thank you
Forgot all about that one - i.e. Playback - Full Resolution

  • Does anyone have experience with Virgin or Boost Mobile?

I have been with verizon for a long time...I have 4 lines with this service. I have since bought several phones off of craigslist or ebay just so I wouldn't have to be subjected to the tier plan. We use so much data it's crazy. I want the new Samsung Galaxy S4 so bad!!! Grrr! I've even thought about switching to Virgin Mobile or Boost Mobile. We pay so much for our phones now and I know of one guy who has boost mobile and loves it. Does anyone have experience with these providers?

BC's CRM is part of the package, Salesforce is of course more dedicated. That pretty much sum's up these sorts of use cases.

  • Does anyone have experience with Signatec High-Speed Digitizers?

I just purchased the PX14400 and I have a few questions for anyone that may have some experience with these.

    Hi ryder_2010,
Hopefully someone on here has experience with that board and can help out. I wanted to also suggest posting on the Instrument Control board since users on there may have more experience with third-party devices and the related software (such as IVI drivers), assuming LabVIEW or CVI can be used to control this device. Best of luck!

  • Does anyone have experience with CS2 installation on a new computer?

We have just been informed by Adobe that Adobe has "disabled the activation server for CS2 applications "..."because of a technical issue".  I don't believe Adobe.  Further explanation indicates that I can get a version that installs without activation, but the verification is on my existing computer and the disks do not work.  Further, technical support has been discontinued.  I understand that to mean that the version on my present computer can be updated by a new version, but reading between the lines I think by eliminating the disks and substituting a version that can only reside on my present computer eliminates transporting the software from computer to computer.  Also, failure of my present computer could mean that the verification process is lost, and the software is lost.  I'm reluctant to try to sort this out myself because I really don't think I have a complete understanding of what Adobe is doing.  Maybe I'm being too cautious.  Has anyone else had experience with this Adobe problem?  For the attorneys, is this a legal taking?

The CS2 activations servers were build on old, expiring technology. Rather than buying a bunch of new servers for a very old version of the software, we just disabled the existing hardware.
You have an incorrect understanding of how things work. Yes, we do have a version of the software that doesn't use activation. But the verification process has nothing to do with your computer, your disks, or anything else of the sort. All you have to do is follow the directions here: Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3

  • Anyone have experience with Virgin Broadband2Go devices on Mac OS 10.5?

I'm going to be staying for three weeks in a place that has no wireless. I've read that Virgin's pre-paid Broadband2Go devices, the Ovation MC760 USB stick and the MiFi 2200, a portable “hotspot” that connects to Virgin Mobile’s wireless broadband 3G network (Sprint) and then converts the signal into standard Wi-Fi, could solve my problem.
However, the one-time activation process seems to be a big hassle if you have a Mac--some users had to resort resort to activating the USB stick on a PC and then plugging it into their Macs, which seems to work, and one person reported a disastrous conflict when he plugged the USB stick (though apparently not the larger "hotspot"/router version) into his OS 10.5 Mac.
Has anyone had experience activating/using either of these devices, which are apparently the only pre-paid mobile wireless devices on the American market? (I know Verizon has a contract plan, but I'm strictly the pay-as-you-go type.) Thanks for any advice you have!

I'm trying it right now. I'm not at all convinced that this is gonna work. I keep getting a "no dial tone" sort of modem error where I am. http://www.novatelwireless.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=108& Itemid=5 suggests that the MC760 isn't one of the models supported by Novatel Leopard drivers... kinda odd if true.

  • Anyone have experience with LV 2011 SP1?

Just asking whether anyone has experience with the latest LabVIEW  2011 Service Pack 1?
I haven't had any problems with 2011 (I had big problems with 2010 and building big applications but 2011 fixed that).  One figures that a service pack with no new features should be a good version to stick with for a while so I'm keen to update but.....  there seems to be a patch f1 already addressing some major issues that weren't in the 2011 version!  I found one posting on 2011 SP1 where someone has reported problems with it but it ended up being a discussion on OOP so it wasn't clear if the LabVIEW SP1 version was the problem.  Maybe not many people have moved to it yet.
Regarding the patch f1 its not clear if someone installing the runtime engine only has to install this patch as well if the developer has used it to build an app.  NI is never very clear about this.
I also had an issue installing 2011 SP1 which I hadn't seen before.  Installation stopped early on with Error 1303 - something to do with not being able to access the Program Files directory for some Error directory.  I'm logged in with Administrator rights and as mentioned haven't had any installation problems with LV for some time.  I got round it by turning off the Windows Firewall and unplugging the network cable.  I had to activate products after launching them the first time.  This made me start to wonder if this wasn't a good version tol go with and stick to the basic 2011.
    Any feedback appreciated.

Helpful feedback.  Ben's comment on the problem with LVOOP probably explains an issue I reported in this posting  when I updated a program to 2011 where I used the Harmonic Cursor XControl.   The problem was somewhere in the LVOOP code but I didn't persist with it as I don't have the experience in that area.
    crossrulz comments were very helpful.
I'm still confused regarding patches that come out and compatibility between development environment and the run-time engine, as downloaded off NI's website.  It makes sense that if you build an installer for a client from the development environment that it should contain a compatible run-time engine. But for various reasons I prefer that a user of my programs gets the run-time engine off NI's website.
I just noticed that the filename for the latest 2011 SP1 runtime engine includes "f1" in the zip file name so thats pretty clear and hopefully no more patches.
I recall with 2010 when the early patches came out, that the text with the page for the run-time engine download actually noted that the run-time engine included the patches.  That gave some confidence.
I see from the current 2010 SP1 run-time engine page that it now has f5 in the zip file name.  I remember applying patches f1 and f2 to the development environment.  I see that there is a patch f4 for development environment but not a patch f5.  Configuration control just seems a bit messy.

  • Anyone have experience with other PHP Frameworks?

    Hey PHP devs,
I was hoping to get some advice on what other PHP Framework you guys like to use. (I realize ADDT might not be considered a PHP framework.)
I love the ADDT Framework, and it is a wonderful tool for many of the projects I do. However, I have a project coming up that will be much more extensive than my usual work. Don't get me wrong, I have built some fairly complex dynamic PHP applications with ADDT, but with this next project I need to go for more of an MVC type application. Also, I need to separate the php from the html.
Right now I am looking at CakePHP, symfony, CodeIgniter, and of course Zend. Anyone have any experience with these? Has anyone used ADDT along with another framework? Supposedly these frameworks can be used together in combinations.
    Thanks for any advice.
    Shane

    Hi Shane,
from all the frameworks you mention, Zend seems to get the highest appreciation from the developer crowd, whereas you´ll find a nice mixture of good & bad reviews on all others.
I realize ADDT might not be considered a PHP framework
what else would you call it ? :-)
Supposedly these frameworks can be used together in combinations
I doubt you´ll be able to use ADDT in conjunction with e.g. Zend, and from what I know, every framework out there is a sort of "closed system" with no hooks to access the methods used by other frameworks.

  • Anyone have experience with SmartCurve, especially in PSE3?

In a discussion captioned PSE 4.0 vs 5.0 (current last message 43, Oct 3, 2006)there is the exchange below. I decided to start a new thread because the old one had gone elsewhere.
Two questions: Does anyone have experience with SmartCurve? And does it care about version? I have PSE3. However, the software does not specify but was updated 9/11/06 and thus is for PSE4 at least.

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Robert,
Is this what you are looking for:
    http://free.pages.at/easyfilter/curves.html ?
    Juergen

    Jack,
You assumed correctly. Grant's Curve tool can only access the composite RGB channel. His tool does have the advantage of using an adjustment layer mask...so you can mask out parts you don't want adjusted by the curve. The advantage of using a mask vs a duplicate layer and eraser is that with a mask you never destroy pixils...just hide them...so if you make a mistake it can save a lot of time and frustration. On the negative side, you won't be able to reopen the curves adjustment layer once okayed...but you can still edit the mask.
BTW, Grant's tool sets includes several tools so it's a worthwhile download. However, if you have Hidden Elements installed, I don't know if you'd get anything extra/different. BTW, there's a freeware Hidden Elements set on the Adobe Exchange which might also be worth looking at. I'm not sure what all is packed in that set...and I'm not sure where they've got it stashed...perhaps Actions or maybe Plugins.

    I think a few have.
    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
