Spaces allowed in iPhoto filenames? when syncing to iPhone/iPad?
It took me a while to narrow this one down,
in short, if the underlying filename of the photo you attempt to sync from iPhoto using iTunes to your iPhone/iPod contains a space character,
then the sync will fail with the, rather unhelpful "unknown error -50" condition, iPhoto itself has no problem with filenames containing spaces
This iTunes sync error has been happening since I first encountered it long ago,
I've worked around it by painstakingly renaming all the offending files but when I recently got a new bunch, it took me a while to confirm that this bug still bites.
Yeah, I know it's surprising that such a simple (to fix) bug still persists. I thought I'd share in case anyone else can benefit from some, ahem, documentation. It might help me to remember for the next time.

Ah yes, This is just like wetting my pants while wearing a dark suit. It gives me a warm feeling but nobody notices. Actually, I just checked and this bug has been known to Apple for several years. At least I got that warm feeling though.

When syncing my iphone all of the pictures on my computer are saved onto the phone as "Camera Albums" . As they are taking up too much space I want to delete them from the phone but don't see how to do this. Also, how do I prevent the pictures from the computer from being imported to the phone in the first place?
Photos are transferred from your computer to your iPhone, not imported.
This is selected under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences, which can't be selected by itself. This requires user interaction.
All photos transferred from your computer are stored in the iPhone's Photo Library. If you transfer multiple albums or folders of photos, all photos in all albums or folders are stored in the Photo Library. The photos in the albums below include a pointer to the original photos stored in the Photo Library. Photos in the albums below are not duplicates taking up double the storage space. This way you can view the photos in an album only by selecting the album, or you can view all photos in all albums by selecting Photo Library. -
I tried syncing my iPhone to Mac and got this message when iPhoto pictures got synced: " this iPhone couldn't be synced. The requested file could not be found". Help what do I do now?
Try deleting the iPod Photo Cache from your computer.

When I sync my iPhone & iPad through iTunes iPhoto syncs my Photo Stream Events (folders) like say Jan 2013 Photo Stream then Feb 2013 Phto Stream but after the 6.1.3 update it does not sync my iPhoto Library Events anymore... similar problem. in itunes, the option to synch photos no longer appears. Icloud has been doing this and storage has free space. Want to change my preference and have synch come directly from my Adobe Photoshop elements photo files. No option to do anything with photos appears on iTunes. appreciate any help!!

certain events in iPhoto will not sync to my iPad. No Error messages comes up and the photos themselves are ok. its like my ipad doesn't see them. Cause i can get some photos on there just not all. Photos are from the same camera and should all be in the same format.
What is the file name of the video(s) you want to sync?
Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

I deleted some of my text message histories to get rid of 'other' space (6.33 gb). They were gone from iMessage, but they still showed up in search, so they were still taking up space on my phone. I synced my iPhone (4s) with iTunes but the messages are still there. How can I get rid of these texts for good and have more space on my phone? 6.33 gb of other space is way too much, thats almost half of my overall available space (13.5 gb.) I don't want to reset my phone and lose all my other texts/ app progress/ photos. I do have backups, but when I restore from the backup the other space comes back along with everything else. What can I do to get rid of this other space and the 'deleted' text messages? (I'm running iOS 6.1.3 if that helps)
But once again, I do not want to lose my other texts, app progress, and photos. I could sync the photos but i would still lose the app progress and texts. I would only restore if it was the only option left, but the other space, as already stated, isnt the main concern. The main concern is those 'deleted' texts. If they go, then a good size chunk of the other space goes. I know you CAN delete texts for good. It worked fine before. All i want to know is why its not working for me now, and how to fix it.
I also know that when you delete texts on your iphone, they get marked for deletion, however they stay on your device (thats why they show up when you search for them.) then when you sync your device with itunes, the texts marked for deletion should disappear. When i synced they didnt disappear. Thats what i need an explanation/solution for. Why the texts marked for deletion didnt get fully deleted after the sync. -
When syncing my iPhone with my iPhone, I get a message that 2 items did not sync - use iTunes for help.
But I can't find any help information in iTunes at all, let alone when items are not syncing.
How do I figure out what is not syncing?Since it seems App related, I'm not sure what to offer you. I guess the only suggestion I have is for you to reboot your iPad and then try again. To reboot, hold the power and home buttons at the same time for at least 10 seconds (keep holding past the swipe to shut down bar if it appears) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart. You won't lose any settings or data, so it's worth a shot.

I'm at a loss as to what to do. Any help is appreciated. When syncing my iphone I get an message, "itunes could not sync calendars to the iphone because an error ocurred while merging data" I sync my calendar to outlook. My iphone calendar has all and the most updated information. Outlook calendar only shows my recurring events.

i've found a great & simple solution for this problem
just open your iCloud acc on iPhone
turn off calendars (it wil ask you to keep info or not - KEEP IT!)
and turn back on (MERGE!)
now SYNC it..
and that's it

Upgraded pc to ios 7 but when syncing to iphone 4 it crashed. Phone is now in recovery mode but it nearly finishes recovery then stops with error 3014. Phone rendered useless until this is fixed. Help pls? I have tried many of the suggestions for the error code given. Im getting frustrated. I'm not a techno so would appreciate simple terms or ways of explanation. Thx!!

Error -4 when syncing my iPhone

Configure your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.
Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.

Recently my pc crashed and I had to have a new profile built. Now when syncing my iphone 4s to the computer the sync gets stuck on step 8 and "syncing artwork" It never finishes syncing...just sits there for hours. Subsequently most of my music and apps are missing from my iphone because it never finishes syncing. How do I fix this?
1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

I have the iphone 4 and when syncing my iphone an error message appears half way through saying "itunes cannot sync apps to the iphone because the apps installed on the iphone cannot be determined" can anyone help? I cant back up my iphone as this appears every time :-(
As another post suggested, I restarted both the iPhone and the computer, and that fixed the problem.
