Spoof Mac Address

Hello
I am trying to replace my Linksys router with the time capsule.
The problem is that I have a static IP so I need to provide the ISP with it to approve it.
This usually takes a long time to get.
Is there a way to do this on time capsule. ie: mac address spoofing?
thanks

Sorry, but unlike the Linksys routers, the AirPorts do not offer a MAC spoofing/cloning feature.

    No that is not a feature of any of Apple's base stations.

    On windows XP or linux have a MAC adress Change function  allow 00 mac adress and another normal mac adress range.On windows 8.1 all Mac changer program dont work.This 2,6,A,E on second adress are not vaild Mac adress. You simply can not use normal MAC
    addresses on windows 8.1.When i connect the usb the Pc windows 8.1 recognizes the adapter but the default  driver and the downloaded ralink driver the same problem.On windows xp the current driver works perfectly have (Local Mac Network Adress) funktion
    and works with the 802.11b hot spot.I got the internet my PC and laptop too public HotSpots and another wifi HotSpots if wont work correctly i can not use neither the windows 7,8,8.1 or 10. Many users have expressed interest in the problem more forums.
    The 3. problem im tested in virtualbox the windows 7 and 8.1 on 8.1 (on the blue wifi platform) not show correctly the signal strengh. On windows 7 show this correctly.The windows 7-8.1 Configure/advanced the advanced options on Ralink 3070 the default (windows

    Hi,
    For changing the MAC address for Windows 7 is designed with some limitation, we cannot get over it. Thanks for your understanding.
    Under Windows 7, the possible range of spoofed addresses for wireless adapters that can be set is limited.  To be used by Windows 7, a spoofed MAC address should have 0 as a least significant bit (unicast) and 1 as a second least significant
    bit (locally administered) in the second nibble.  Thus possible values for the second nibble are limited to 2, 6, A and E.
    In other words
    MAC address:  “XY-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX” “X” can be anything hexadecimal.  The hexadecimal “Y”, written in binary format, is  Y:  “kmnp”,  where “p” is the least significant bit;
    p=0 --> unicast;
    p=1 --> multicast;
    n=0 --> globally assigned MAC;
    n=1 --> locally administered;
    So, actually MAC can be changed  to any combination in which p=0 and n=1;
    “Y” can be 2, 6, A or E.
    So the possible MAC addresses in Windows 7 for wireless adapters:
    X2-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX
    X6-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX
    XA-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX
    XE-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX

  • Why does my AE gen 2 crash when I put my iPhone MAC address in?

    AE gen 2 with Time Capsule.
    I use MAC address for security (I think that is OK). I have a number of items that need WIFI and their specific MAC addresses are put into the box. All OK so far! Recently my wife and I have purchased iPhone which I also want to have access to WIFI from AE. In goes WIFI address for both phones and it will not restart after 'UPDATE' command given.
    Push the reset button while it is plugged in and it comes back minus the MAC addresses specific to the iPhone!!!!!
    Any ideas? Could it need replacing?
    I tried going to WPA2 Personal but my wifes laptop kept coming back with "Connection Timed Out".
    Have done HARD reset (Reset button with power cord out then insert while keeping reset button pushed) and no difference.
    Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thx
    David

    Both our laptops are MacBook Pros.
    Then they both really shouldn't have any issues connecting to a wireless network configured to use WPA2 Personal which uses the AES/CCMP encryption protocol. Currently the strongest security type available for consumer wireless networking.
    I was under the impression MAC addresses were pretty secure.
    Although MAC addresses are unique, as I have mentioned they can be spoofed. So a wireless client, using a spoofed MAC address, can easily bypass any security method that relies on these addresses. The other security failacy is closing or disabling the broadcast of the wireless network name. This may thwart the most casual network leech, but like MAC addresses, the network name (or SSID) can still be found using utilities easily obtained from the Internet.

  • Changing MAC address (spoofing)

    Hello,
    I want to change the MAC address on a Mac Book Pro running OS X Leopard utilizing the command:
    +sudo ifconfig en0 lladdra 00:11:22:33:44:55+
    Even though the command does not give a warning, nor an error message, the MAC is not changed. In Tiger, it the same command did just fine.
    How do I enable MAC address Spoofing on OS X Leo? Is there any parameter to send to the Kernel?
    Mh.
    For somewhat ever reason, MAC address spoofing for the wireless interface (en1) still seems to work!?
    Makes me fell confused:-)
    Help strongly appreciated!
    Thanks,

    This is how it works on my machine. Note the change of MAC address and because I am using DHCP it changes the IP address also. I have changed the MAC address in this info so as not to use my real one. So I am now running on the new MAC address. It will revert to the original on reboot, you would need a script to change it every time you restart the computer. Not sure why but this does not work on the airport.
    This is a nice exercise but why do you would you want to change it?

    Sorry, but no. MAC spoofing is not an available administration option for the Graphite base station.

  • Spoof current MAC address to a known address to trick router and regis

    I was not sure where to place this question in this forum, so if this is an incorrect placement place move it.
    I have a problem where I want to connect a device to the internet, a Roku player, that has its own MAC address. The network that I currently have access to requires that I login using my information prior to being connected to the internet. The process is such that the first time you try to access a website you are forwarded to a "login" page where you enter this information.
    The problem is that the Roku player does not have a browser in which I can use to do this step - so when I attempt to use the device it just sits. Even though I am connected to the internet, I do not have access to it through the router. So I was thinking that it may work if I used my laptop to spoof my MAC address to the specific address of my Roku player and login that way to register this device.
    Would this work? If so, how could I go about doing it?

    Wouldn't hurt to try. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/MA … s_Spoofing

  • Buffalo dd-wrt unintentionally spoofed the mac address

    i followed some steps that I found on a website to have free internet in an airport for example, so I tried to escersie in my home and I entered the mac address of the router, now it only works by ethernet.
    this are the steps I followed:
    1.
    2.
    sudo ifconfig en1 ether [I entered the dd-wrt as mac address]
    I hope someone can help me

  • I need to change the MAC Address for Airport on MacBook

    I have a specific need to change my son's Airport MAC address as his school requires the use of USB network cards that aren't compatible with MACs. These cards are needed because the school's router uses MAC address filtering.
    Before we upgraded his Mac to Snow Leopard, we were able to change the MAC address to the MAC address of the useless dongal the school supplied. We basically created an AppleScript program that ran the "sudo ifconfig en1 ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" and all was good.
    This command no longer works for changing the MAC address. We tried it as root user as well and by typing it into the terminal window as root. After running the command, we can run "ifconfig en1" and it does display the new mac address but when we turn the airport on and try to connect, it just hangs and won't connect.
    Our other non-Snow Leopard still works fine after running the commands so I'm guessing Apple disabled this functionality. It's hardly a security issue by being able to change your mac addres.
    Is there a new way to accomplish this? I've searched everywhere.
    Thanks!

    Would an easier solution be to provide the school's IT admin with your mac address and have it added? If they can add a block of mac addresses for the usb dongles, they can add more for machines that cannot use the dongle.
    Also: "It's hardly a security issue by being able to change your mac address."
    While it may not be a security issue for your machine, it is a security for the school network who is using mac address filtering as hopefully only one part of their wireless security.
    That being said, have you read this?

  • How can i get the time capsule to use my mac's mac address

    on some wireless routers you can get the router to use the mac address of a client connected to it instead of it's own.
    Can i do that on the time capsule?

    Sorry, but no. You cannot change (spoof) the MAC address on any of the AirPort/Time Capsule routers.

  • Changing Mac Address/Static ip

    I recently bought an New iMac and Migrated everything over from my old mac.
    However I mistakingly migrated the Static IP address or MAC address from the old machine too!
    This is now giving me problems when trying to connect both machines to my network via Ethernet!
    My wireless access is fine, but ethernet is saying ‘no ethernet cable is inserted’ on both machines now. The cable is in and works fine on other machines.
    Do I need to change the MAC address on the machine?
    If so how?

    Hi
    System Preferences > Network > Select the interface > Advanced > TCP/IP. Have a look at both macs to see what they're using. Change one of them.
    You can't change a MAC address unless you know how to spoof it or if the NIC hardware has changed. The MAC address is not your macintosh IP address. In this instance MAC stands for Media Access Control. It's the unique ID number given to a network adapter. No two are the same, leastways they should not be. If you want to view both your macs MAC addresses. Apple Menu > About this Mac > More Info > Network. Select the interface you're interested in.

  • Changing MAC Address

    Recently i have been trying to change my Router's MAC Address. I have a WRT54g v.3. I have done it before where i had unplugged the internet cable going from the wall to the modem. I saw the change on the 192.168.1.1 status page. And i noticed with a proxy and the new changed MAC address i was able to get into gaming servers i hadn't been able to before because my IP was banned.
    Now when i try to change my MAC address, it doesn't seem to change on the router stautus page like it did once before. I'm sure that it's possible to concel my identity of my old IP and get a new IP (through a proxy), many people do this for security reasons so i'm hoping linksys products can offer some kind of security by doing this.
    btw, sorry about the name, if it's possible can it be changed to Joe. Thanks guys.

    Your MAC is "stuck" to that router, you need to spoof it. Google it.

  • How do i find the internet MAC address for my MBP?

    I am trying to get my MBP integrated into my home wireless network.  Need to enter MAC address.

    System Preferences > Network, select the connection type (probably Wifi). Advanced button > hardware tab.
    The MAC address is listed there.
    MAC address filtering is not actually adding any security to a wifi network, so you may want to turn that off - it is trivial to spoof a MAC address & they are visible to anyone in range. Use WPA2 with a good password if you can.
