Spooling stops

When I attempt to print from a Quad G5 Mac w/4 gigs of RAM to an Epson 7600 printer using Photoshop CS3, spooling starts and then almost immediately stops. I am running Leopard 10.5.2 and using the latest driver available for my PPC machine from Epson's website. I can print to the 7600 from other programs OK. Anyone have a solution or suggestion?
- Craig Forrest

Neil,
The new driver is not full-featured. I assume you are talking about some of the earlier drivers having the ability to have configuration adjusted using the Epson Printer Utility. The configuration button is no longer there.
When I go to System Preferences and click on Print & Fax it shows the 7600 as idle with nothing in the print queue.

  • HP Laserjet Pro CM 1415fn crashes and spooler service stops

    Hi Guys,
Please assist. I have an HP Laserjet Pro CM1415fn multifunction printer installed on an XP OS. Recently the printer started to print giberish when I tried to print from any application (word, notepad, wordpad, image and fax viewer etc). I also noticed a popoup error message - Run a DLL as an App error. I unistalled the printer software and drivers and restarted, this after running a scan with malware bytes (no detections), and I was unable to get the printer to re-installed after. I keep getting a RPC service not found and Spooler subsystem App has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have checked that all services are running, but nothing is working. After much prodding and poking, I eventually noticed that all errors are directly associated with hppccompio.dll. Even explorer crashes when I try to access printer properties. What should I do? I hope ifnormation was sufficient enough. Also, printer is connected via USB.

    Hi Opp1,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you are unable to reinstall the printer software.
I will be happy to help you.
The print spooler is part of the Windows operating system and if it doesn't stay running the printer software won't install or print.
You could try the following steps to see if this will resolve the issue.
Normally with spooler problems the first thing to do is to clear the print queue.
Open a Run window (Windows Logo key+R), type cmd and press Enter.
Now type these commands, which are in capitals for clarity:
NET STOP SPOOLER and press Enter
    DEL %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\PRINTERS\*.* and press Enter
NET START SPOOLER and press Enter
    EXIT and press Enter
If you are still having issues with the print spooler stopped then right click on the start button, left click on explore, open the windows folder, open system32 folder, open the spool folder, open the printer's folder, then delete everything on the right window.
Then go back and try and start the print spooler again.
Run a full uninstall of the printer software. Disconnect the USB cable.
    To uninstall from CD:
    Go start and select computer.
Right click on the CD for the printer and left click open in a new window.
    Double click on uninstall.
Uninstall printer from the C Drive.
Go to start, computer, c:, windows, program files or program files x86, HP, printer name. Double click uninstall. Restart the computer.
Check to make sure the print spooler is running.
Ran the installation again. Don't connect the USB cable until prompted.
If the print spooler stops again you will need to contact the computer manufacturer to resolve this issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • I want to stop my printer from printing the same thing every time I turn it on.

HP 6500A: how do I cancel printing jobs so that the printer doesn't continue to reprint them?

    Hi Mjs51,
Try this - Assumes Windows 7 (you didn't say what OS your are using):
    Turn Off the printer.
Start > search / type, then click on "Control Panel" > icon view > Administrative Tools >
Services > Click on "Name" to sort by name > Scroll down, look for "Print spooler" > Stop
    Leave that Services window open...
    Open a Windows Explorer window:
Start > search / type, then click on "Windows Explorer" > type / paste in the title bar (to the right of the <--> arrows    C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
Alternatively, you can poke at each folder name (Windows > System32...) until you get to the folder named PRINTERS
Remove (delete) all the files you see in that folder directory.
    (Highlight > Right-Click > Delete)
Go back to the Services window:
    "Restart" the Print spooler service
NOTE:  If you cannot stop / start the spoolsv service, try Right-Click on services and "Run as Administrator" to give you permission to control the services.
Unplug the printer, wait a bit (One minute), plug it back in...turn it on.
NOTE:  There may be a buffer cache clear selection on the Printer - you could check on the front panel of the Printer Menu.  Try this in the event that you cannot get to the outlet to unplug the printer OR try it in place of unplugging the printer.  Choice.
I hope this helps solve your printer problem.

  • Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped working, cannot install

We have acquired license for MS Office Pro Plus 2013.  and downloaded SW_DVD5_Office_Professional_Plus_2013w_SP1_64Bit_English_MLF_X19-35976.ISO
to  be installed on my 64bit system. but i am unable to do that as it reaches half way and then shows below mentioned message,
Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped working
I have tried several suggestions like cleaning registry, disabling firewalls, antivirus, stopping print spool, stopping services etc.
please help me get thru this problem.

    Hi,
There are many reasons for the happening of this problem (Bootstrapper has stopped working), like a beta edition of Office exists, antivirus or firewall program or other security software, etc.
Have you ever attempted to install other Office products on this machine previously? Remnants of old Office installation is a common cause of this issue.
I see you've mentioned "cleaning registry", not sure how you did this, the recommended way to remove any traces/remnants for the old Office instance from your system is to run
    Microsoft Fix It tool.
After this, please try again in Windows clean boot and see if issue persists:

I have an HP2840 running with Windows 7.  Everytime I fax from the computer the print spooler STOPS.
I have to start, then stop, then start again everytime before any of my printers are available.
Is there a setting I need to change?

it sounds to me that the print spooler is crashing. Typically if the spooler crashes, when restarted it will try and process the job in the queue.  If it crashes again, the job will be purged from the queue.

  • Printer spooler will not stay running

I work in a K-8 district that services around 350 computers. We also service a number of printers of which we run through print management in windows server 2008 R2. However, we've recently had a problem with the print spooler stopping and remaining stopped
until being manually started again, only to have the spooler stop shortly after. Specifically, we've only had this problem in one computer lab that has an HP CP3505 printer and a RICOH SP4100. We have tried a number of problem solving techniques, including
    (but not limited to):
    -Clearing the C:\windows\system32\spool\printers & C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers
-setting the recovery steps to "restart the service" in the service properties
-reinstalling the latest PCL5 drivers for the printers on our server
-diving into regedit to make sure everything checks out over there
    -restarting the printer
    -installing latest windows updates
-taking ownership of the spoolsv.exe (we gave both specific users and everyone access, no avail)
-reimaging the computers (without sysprep, this is next in our list of things to try)
We cannot shake this problem, and the lab is heavily used. Anyone have any clue to what may be going on?

This happened when i tried to remove unneeded drivers:
Failed to remove driver Brother HL-5170DN. The specified printer driver is currently in use.
Failed to remove package prnbr001.inf. Driver package is in use.
the Brother printer is not even in use on the computer, just an HP 3505 and the Ricoh. Tried freezing the spooler service and that locked me out of even getting to that menu. i'd submit a picture but apparent my account isnt "verified" (which it should be,
i clicked the link in the email they sent me)

  • Spooler Subsystem error and printer gets closed

time and again my laser jet 1020 plus printer stops taking print and it is being shown that there is some spooler subsystem printer error as print spooler stops functioning . i even tried to get is started but automatically within 10 seconds it is again stopped. I am using window vista with my laptop.please suggest me ways to redress the probelm

The spooler stopping is almost always due to corrupted printer drivers.
Try to uninstall and reinstall the printer and see how it goes.

  • Canon MF4150 and Airport Extreme

A good friend of mine recently bought the Canon MF4150 (on my recommendation) for his home office. He needed to replace his ageing laser printer and wanted a AIO laser with faxing support, preferably from the Mac. According to the specs, the MF4150 did all this, so he purchased the unit and rang me when he couldn't get it working on his AEBS.
The MF4150 uses Canon's proprietary pdl called UFR2. Having used this driver with the imageRUNNER MFD's, I knew it was a driver that worked via TCP/IP and AppleTalk. So I thought it would work fine with his wireless network. But I was wrong!
After connecting the MF4150 to the AEBS USB port, the PSU was opened and Add selected. The MF4150 was displayed as a Bonjour device in the Default Browser view, but when the MF4150 was selected, the Print Using menu couldn't find the correct driver. If you browsed to the Canon folder, no UFR drivers were available, only the Canon BJs and GIMP/Gutenprint drivers.
Now, according to the manual, the correct procedure to add an iR via UFR is to select More Printers > Canon IP (UFR2). Then you input the IP address and leave the queue name blank. The driver then queries the printer and selects the appropriate 'ppd'. So, hoping that the USB port is somehow mapped to the AEBS's IP address (which according to Apple tech info (107998) it is possible for XP to print to the USB port by using IP) I was hoping the same could be done for OS X. But unfortunately it didn't work; the spooler stops as soon as the job is sent. The cups log shows the following...
    I [26/Jul/2007:13:27:52 +1000] Job 195 queued on '192168_11' by 'wazza'.
    I [26/Jul/2007:13:27:52 +1000] Started filter /System/Library/Printers/Libraries/PrintJobMgr/Contents/MacOS/PrintJobMgr (PID 373) for job 1.
E [26/Jul/2007:13:27:52 +1000] [Job 1] fatal: The printer is not supported, or the printer information is not acquired correctly. If the printer is supported, delete the printer from the printer list then add it again.: 10322
    E [26/Jul/2007:13:27:52 +1000] PID 373 stopped with status 82!
The error was generated because it is not possible to manually select the UFR2 driver, and the driver fails to find the printer on the AEBS USB, so it defaults to a Generic device, which the printer does not support. If the printer supported PS, or even PCL, then we may have been able to use a compatible driver, such as one of the Gutenprint drivers. But alas, the MF4150 only supports UFR2, and it only has a USB port, so it seems that there is no way that this model can be connected to wirelessly from OS X
So let this be a warning to anyone looking at the Canon MF4150 and who wants to use the device on their wireless OS X network. It works fine via the Mac USB (and Windows via wireless) but cannot be installed via the AEBS USB (AFAIK)...

    Hi Greg,
The UFR2 driver supports both network and USB printing, so what you have written is not the issue. If the printer is connected directly to the Mac's USB port, the driver software will determine the printer model and select the appropriate 'ppd'. However, it seems that when the same device is advertised via Bonjour, whatever information the software is expecting to be received is not, and therefore the 'ppd' is not selected. I therefore believe this is a Canon software procedural issue, rather than a protocol issue. And in typical Canon style, rather than resolving this problem, they release another model (MF4680) that can work around this limitation...
    Paul
