Sql server 2012 evaluation edition expired

Hi Gurus,
sql server 2012 evaluation edition expired,
Here i don't have any backups and when i browsed few blogs suggest to upgrade to another edition from Evaluation edition.
1)Do upgrading the edition keeps all the user databases the same and how about the logins and jobs and other data in system databases.
2) Am having a developer edition 2012 can i attach the data files ( .mdf ) to the instance using attach database method from Evaluation Edition Instance 2012 to Developer Edition 2012.
3)If i uninstall the Evaluation edition 2012 can i have any loss of data.
4)Please suggest me the best practice if any thing available.

Lets take your question point wise
1. In place upgrade will take care of all Logins,jobs and other objects. But before running inplace upgrade its advisable to run SQL Server upgrade advisor
2. Yes you can do it perfectly. As Erland said this will not transfer logins and you might have
orphaned users
3. Since Eval edition has expired and if you uninstall it you might loose all data. This is not a correct approach please either do an in place upgrade to licensed version( like developer edition) or first install developer edition and move database by backup
restore or attach detach method. I would say to use inplace upgrade.
4 Best practice would be to do an inplace upgrade. Since Developer edition is same as enterprise and Evaluation edition you dont need to worry about features. Just run the Developer edition setup by running setup.exe file and then select maintenance on window
which pops up in maintenance select edition upgrade and then follow the process to upgrade evaluation to developer edition. Below link would help

1.Do you have MSDN subscription ? You can download from MS link directly if you have one. Please ask the vendor who provided you with License he would be best person to call.
2. On license page you just have to enter license key that's it , after that SQL Server just knows what it has to do. It does not asks you anything about license it just proceeds

Where can i download SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition?

Hello everyone!
I have bought 2 open licenses for SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition for my application.
I want to download from microsoft site the SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition software in order to install it to my servers but as i searched in microsoft's site, i can't find
Stanard edition for downloading. I only find Express and Evaluation.

Installing SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition or wait for SP2?

Hi everyone,
I just received my copy of SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition I ordered. As usual, before installing, I searched the web for any hint or other stuff on the subject.
I first found that SP1 was already available. Honestly I prefer installing using the last version available instead of upgrading. I found the SP1 install package using the following web address:

Is this the right install package to use?
Now, still reading everything I could find on that SP1, I found stories about major issues with SP1.

Unable to add replication feature in sql server 2012 web edition

Hi All,
We are using SQL Server 2012, Web edition and when it was installed replication is not an added feature so I tried to add this feature but getting below error.
Error: There are no SQL Server instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer.
Description: The version of SQL Server instance MSSQLSERVER does not match the version expected by the SQL Server update. The installed SQL Server product version is 11.1.3000.0, and the expected SQL Server version is 11.0.2100.60
And also please let me know how to identify the default file location of the setup file 'setup.exe' for SQL Server 2012 (Webedition, 64bit) Grateful to your time and support.
I'm using "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Setup Bootstrap\Update Cache\KB2777772\QFE\setup.exe" to add replication feature, please correct me if I'm wrong.

It looks like you are trying to add Replication Components, however, you are using the Cumulative update package 5 setup, which is wrong.
Note that you will not find the setup file for SQL Server on your file system, it will be on your installation media.
To install SQL Server Replication Components, locate your installation media and run Setup.exe. Select the add features to an existing instance option, select your instance, and add replication components.

Errro while installing sql server 2012 express edition on Windows 8 -64 version

Im trying to install sql server 2012 express edition on windows 8 machine(64 bit),however im getting same error every time.
The following error has occurred:

i've googled and checked all prerequisite which is already installed.so not finding the reason behind this error.

Installing Sql Server 2012 Enterprise edition on Windows 7

Hello,
I have a desktop with 1 TB Hard Disk and 8GB RAM. It has Windows 7 installed. I want this to be used as staging server at my work. I installed the SQL Server 2012 Enterprise edition. While installing I used service accounts as default when prompted
which I normally do while installing on a desktop. But now I want this to be used as a server where people can access this box as they do on a sql server machine .i.e. connect to server using SSMS and get to databases on the server and also remote
desktop into this machine. So, Is it fine to install with default service accounts?
Also how can I connect to this newly installed sql server box from another desktop using SSMS?

Is it possible to install SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition on a Windows Server 2012 Standard Which is installed on a Virtual Machine that is created by Hyper-V?

I have recently bought a Virtual Machine from a data center and installed a Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition on it. As I tried to install the SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition, the data center administrator denied me to do this telling me it is not possible
to install any licensed Microsoft software on a Windows installed on virtual machine created by Hyper-V. It was really strange for me! I wanna know if this is true.

This 3rd time I followed this link. But nothing new, same error.
Can you please tell me how to do follow, I cannt do the 1st step, how to change the local system to windows level account, vice-versa. It is shown mine as

To resolve it, follow these steps:-
When the installation throws this error, click on OK and allow it to proceed. It will fail for Database Engine, but the SQL Server service should have
been created. Check the Services console.
If the service is present, perform the following steps:-
1. Go to SQL Server Configuration manager, right click on the SQL Server service, and change the service account (if it is local system, give
it a windows level account, and vice-versa). It might throw a WMI error but you will see the account getting updated anyway. If not, then use the Services console. Change the account for SQL Agent as well.

2. Next, try to start the service. It should come online.
3. However, you will not be able to log in to the SQL Server
4. Now stop the service and start it from the command prompt using -m -c -T3608 parameters.
5. Now try logging in to the server using admin connection from sqlcmd (sqlcmd admin:<server name>\<instance name> ...)
6. Once logged in, use the sp_addsrvrolemember '<domain\username>','sysadmin'.
Also add the builtin/administrators to the sysadmin role
7. Now stop the service from the command prompt and start it from SQL Server configuration manager
You should be able to log in to the server now.

SharePoint 2013 Enterprise and SQL Server 2012 Standard edition vs. Enterprise - feature question

I can't seem to find any clear answers to the implications of installing SQL Server 2012 standard edition vs. enterprise in regards to SharePoint 2013.
I understand that to get many of the features you need Enterprise edition of SQL 2012; but, what I can't figure out is if the backend SharePoint SQL 2012 is standard; but, the PowerPivot/SSRS server is Enterprise will we still get the features?
If we have 3 tier SharePoint farm, one of those tiers is for the SQL Server database backend. If that SQL instance is 2012 standard and we add another server to the farm w/ SQL 2012 Enterprise to handle the tabular models, PowerPivot, and SSRS in integrated
mode will we still get the features?
Or, can we (should we) install Enterprise 2012 as the SharePoint database backend and let that instance triple down as also the PowerPivot and SSRS instance?

SQL Server 2012 Standard is not supported PowePivot for SharePoint . In addition, SQL Server 2012 Standard is also not support some Reporting Services Features.

SQL server -2012 ( Express edition) network interface error: 26

Hi
Could you please help me to resolve the issue the error :26 while establishing connection with SQL server-2012 ( Express edition) in my local machine. I have installed and configure SQL Server -2012 (Express edition). I have thoroughly checked and
configured TCP/IP to make Enable and insert IP address and port No. 1433 and accordingly set-up new roles in Firewall for both TCP/IP, programme option to recognize to access SQL server/programme to Firewall.
I have also configured SQL management studio Security option i.e New Logins> General > Server Roles> User mapping> as attached screen shoot with this mail.
I have also made enable (Yes) on ICPM through Firewall properties as using windows -8(standard version), but still SQL server isn't enable to connect. I hereby enclosed the error screen shoot. I am testing it ACT ( application compatibility toolkit)
prior configuring this server to SharePoint-2013 or 2010 farm server.
You co-operation in this regard be appreciated.

Great to find your response and excellent reference /article (WIKI publishing, your writing). I have followed your options accordingly to Connect or establish connection with SQL server through client machine ( using IP address and network) but failed and
shows the time out error as bellow screen shoot for your assessment.
SQL SERVER MANAGER OPTION:
-SQL server services:- I got five options as find bellow pic. Except SQL server Agent rest of the options are running well.
As I mentioned i am running SQL server-2012 ( Express edition), so i am not sure, is it a mandatory provision to not run, So please feedback in that option.
IP Config: I have tested IP address ( IPv4) and AZAD-PC, 127.0.0.1 those are responding well ( I have't yet set-up IPv6) including Ping testing.
Using SQL Server Management Studio on the computer running SQL Server, connect to the instance of SQL Server. In Object Explorer, expand Management, expand SQL Server Logs, and then double-click the current log.
In the Log Viewer, click the Filter button on the toolbar. In the Message contains text box, type server is listening on, click Apply filter, and then click OK.
I have configured accordingly on Management Studio.
Enable Protocols:
I have done that and also set-up IP address (IPv4) in all of the IP address options and port no 1433
Testing TCP/IP Connectivity:
Yes, it was success through all the option except ( IPv6)
Testing a Local Connection on Client Machine:
Yes, Working fine.
Testing the Connection:
Failed. I have tried to connect to my machine ( Management studio) using the server name:AZAD-PC\SQLEXPRESS:- failed shows the error no.26, But connected using:AZAD-PC
on ( Management Studio).
Please provide your feedback to resolve the issue.

Installing SharePoint 2013 with SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition

Hi,
Can we use SQL Server 2012 Developer edition with SharePoint 2013? One thing that came to my mind was setting max degree of parallelism, is that supported in Developer edition? Looking forward to your assistance here.

Licensing SQL Server for Non-production Use
The SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition is a full-function version of the SQL Server software—with all the
features and capabilities of the Enterprise edition—licensed under the Developer Tools model, which is a “per
user” model. One license is required for each person that accesses or uses the software.
When using SQL Server software for development, test or demonstration purposes, only the users are licensed
and there is no need for a corresponding license for the actual server systems running SQL Server software in
this case.
As long as only licensed users have access to the software, customers can install as many copies of the software
on any number of servers that are used exclusively for development, test or demonstration purposes. This
is significant, because it allows customers to run the software on multiple devices (for testing purposes, for
example) without having to license each non-production server system.
But no, as you can see above, you'll have no issues with the software (Developer Edition is Enterprise Edition with licensing restrictions, but no functionality restrictions).

Upgrade SQL Server 2008 R2 enterprise edition to SQL server 2012 slandered edition

Hi everyone,
Need help on below concern.
I have SQL Server 2008 R2 enterprise edition installed. Which contains SSAS cubes, SSIS packages and SSRS Reports.
I need to upgrade it to SQL Server 2012 Standard edition.
How can I achieve this ??
And I don't have much idea in SSIS package migrations.
Please help me to achieve this.

Please follow side by side approach for upgrade.Get a new windows box and install SQL server 2012 on it
Move databases from SS2008 R2 to SS 2012 by backup restore mechanism.
Move
jobs and logins by Scripting out and running it on SQL SS 2012.See links as well

Compatible in which way? There is no direct relation between Visual Studio and SQL Server, from .NET you can connect to any Version of SQL Server.
