SQL Server Data Tools – Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013 (SSDT BI) and SSIS on SQL Server 2012

This great blog entry titled
SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013 (SSDT BI), link below, highlights the lack of support for SSIS projects using SQL Server 2012, VS 2013 and SSDT BI for VS 2013. I see there is a new version
on SSDT BI for VS 2013 (12.0.2430.0, File Name: SSDTBI_x86_ENU.exe, Date Published: 10/27/2014) link below.
Does this version support SSIS projects using SQL Server 2012 using VS 2013 and SSDT BI for VS 2013?

Hi cjrinpdx,
According to the picture, it seems that we can use SSIS 2012 support is not included in SSDT-BI for VS 2013. And based on the previous versions, SSIS always different from SSRS, SSAS.
SSDT-BI for Visual Studio 2012 supports versions of SQL Server as follows:
SSAS project can target SQL 2012 or lower
SSRS project can target SQL 2012 or lower
SSIS project can target only SQL 2012
The following blog is for your reference:

Since I have no environment to test this at this moment,
I recommend you that submit the feedback at

Thank you for your understanding.

  • Error installing SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013

    Hi
I am trying to install SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013 and am getting the following error
This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.
    I am running
    Windows 8.1 x64
SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition x64
    Visual Studio 2013 Professional
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Biztalk Developer

Could you please check if Windows Installer service is running and is in automatic startup mode.
The other thing is, if you’re running an x64-based SQL instance (64-bit), make sure to select “New Instance” on the Installation Type page, and NOT “Add features to an existing instance”.

    Hi Lebohang,
As per my understanding, you don't have to make all users have CAL. You can install SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013 as a standalone business intelligence authoring environment or side-by-side with an existing SQL Server
Data Tools installed with SQL Server.

  • Unable to install Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2012

I have tried and tried to get the templates to show up in Visual Studio. I have tried all the suggestions that could be found from others in 2013. I am down to the "Command Report.NoOp" message when I click on "Sql Server Data Tools for Visual
Studio 2012", under Sql Server 2012 menu.
Can anyone help me get rid of this error message? I can't tell how many times I have uninstalled and reinstalled or repaired 2012 software. I believe I finally have the correct SSDTSetup.exe file and SSDTBI_VS2012_x86.exe file. The versions are 11.0.3402.0
    and 11.1.31203.1.
I have spent 3 days trying to get this working so I can create some SSIS projects. Please someone help me.....
    thanks,
    SMA

    Hi Shavona,
According to your description, we need to verify if the error message is “Command "Report.NoOp" is not valid” when you install Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2012.
If yes, it seems that the BI Templates are not installed properly. Please ensure that you have selected “Perform a new installation of SQL Server 2012” instead of “Add features to an existing instance of SQL Server 2012” when installing the
    update.

  • Which Visual C++ redistributable package needed for Visual Studio 2013 Update 3 and 4?

Which redistributable package should be installed at the client side for binaries built with either Visual C++ 2013 Update 3 or 4?
From the Download Center, "Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013",
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784 I downloaded "vcredist_x86.exe" and "vcredist_x64.exe", which have version number 12.0.21005.1
My system, which has installed VS2013 Update 3, also has "vcredist_x86.exe" and "vcredist_x64.exe", at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\VC\redist\1033", but these having a higher version number: 12.0.30501.0
A colleague of mine has installed  VS2013 Update 4, but has the same redistributable files as my VS2013 Update 3 installation: version 12.0.30501.0.
Is it correct to conclude that
the VS2013 redistributables at Microsoft's Download Center (12.0.21005.1) are outdated?
VS2013 Update 3 and Update 4 based applications may share the very same redistributable package (12.0.30501.0)?

    @Niels,
Maybe we cannot say it is not uploaded. We can see the package is named as
Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 Update 4
So the package may only specific for one version and does not mean it should have Visual C++ Redistributable Packages
for Visual Studio 2013 Update 2
If you want to report anything you can consider use Connect:
    https://connect.microsoft.com/
However I don't think we need to report this case on Connect.
For your last question, since the version 30501 seems to be the update version of 21005, I think you will not have them together. Anyway, for this particular VC++ runtime, I would recommend you keep it update to date.
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2019667?wa=wsignin1.0
Then you may get the latest features. And if you have any specific reason that you need a specific version, I think we can handle it case by case. For example, if you want to deploy you C++ application and you need a runtime version.

    Barry

  • Microsoft Office Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2013 on Windows 10 Technical Preview

Hi, I've never developed a plugin for Office before. I've downloaded the technical preview of Windows 10 and have it running via Boot Camp on my MacBook (Looks good! I'll buy it when it comes out). Obviously with this being in beta it's understandable that
there are problems, so this is just a heads up on one particular problem. Maybe there's already a solution or workaround?
I've downloaded Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition, brought a copy of Microsoft Office Home And Student 2013 and am currently in the process of installing Microsoft Office Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2013.
The only problem though is that when I try to install it I get the following message:
    http://s22.postimg.org/dxh1gtra9/Install_Problem_Office_Plugin_Tools.png
    Here is the log:
    http://pastebin.com/7wWkSfjF
I also tried to download the file directly and run that.
    http://s3.postimg.org/tj9vb660j/Install_Problem_Office_Plugin_Tools2.png
I right clicked on the file and noticed an options called "Troubleshoot Compatibility". There was a wizard, and I ran through the wizard a number of times through different routes but none of them worked. I was unable to find the option which turned
off compatibility mode. I then searched for answers online which told me to do some things in the regedit program but that didn't seem to solve the problem.
Anyway, I understand that this is a beta version of Windows 10 and that there are going to be problems but thought it would be best to let you know. Perhaps I should just bite the bullet and buy Windows 8.
    Many thanks,
    Lawrence

  • Not able to properly install "Tools for Apache Cordova for Visual Studio 2013"

    Hi,
I am using visual studio 2013 ultimate running on a 64-bit windows 7 home premium.
When I tried to install the "Tools for Apache Cordova for Visual Studio 2013", the installation completed but showed the following error in the end. This is what the error says:
    "  Joyent Node.js
Invalid command line argument. Consult the Windows Installer SDK for detailed command line help.  "
I thought maybe windows phone SDK 8 is not installed on my pc.( as mentioned in the requirements here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-in/library/dn757054.aspx). I tried to install the SDK, by choosing modify from the control panel (as
mentioned in the same link above), but it didn't show "Windows Phone SDK" on the list. And Microsoft says that you cannot install the SDK v8.0 on windows 7. Please help me with this.

    OK...
    1)  So, how do I write JavaScript code? There is only one option when I select JavaScript form the "New Project" window and that says "Blank App (Apache Cordova)". when I try to create one it shows all these errors:
" We've detected issues with your system's environment configuration
Apple iTunes - software is missing from your computer.
WebSocket4Net - software is missing from you computer. You may also have to configure it after installation."
    2)  I don't have iTunes on my computer. So, Is there a way to do it without installing iTunes?
    3)  And I've already installed the "WebSocket4Net", using both the "vs2013_mda0.3" setup and manually. But nothing worked. So what to do about it.?

    Hi All,
I need some guidance on executing\ calling a batch script from Release Management for Visual Studio 2013 as one of the activity during release and also let me know whether the tool provides the log of this kind of execution.

    Hi Manoj,
To run batch script during release process when use Release Management for Visual Studio Online, you can use Command Line Runner" tool which allow user to run comtom command line. You can check in by clicking Inventory tab then tools in Release Management

  • Where should I put my extended unit test assemblies for Visual Studio 2013?

Hi, I have a question about M/S Unit test extension.
    1. My purpose
I'm trying to extend Visual Studio Unit Test.
The points where I extends unit test is to output detail logs.
My development environment is as follows.
    OS: Windows 8.1Pro (64bit version)
IDE: Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2013
      (Version 12.0.30723.00 Update 3)
    2. Things which I'd like to know
To enable my test extension, it is required to put my test extension assemblies into designated sub folder under Visual Studio's installed folder.
The source of this information is MS developers blog below.
Q1. It's required to put the assemblies bellow.
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies
Howerver, the guidance in the blog is for Visual Studio 2010.
In Visual Studio2013, above "PrivateAssemblies" could not be found under "\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE" folder.
Where should I put my assemblies for my 2013. Is there any substitution for "\PrivateAssembly" folder?
Q2. Another requirement is to set Assembly information entry into the registry below.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\EnterpriseTools\QualityTools\TestTypes\{13cdc9d9-ddb5-4fa4-a97d-d965ccfc6d4b}\TestTypeExtensions
For Visual Studio 2013, I could find almost the same node hierarchy, but
could not find the last "TestTypeExtention" node. Instead,
    I could find "Extensions" node.
Should I write registry entry here? Or, should I make a new "TestTypeExtension" node and write the entry there?
Q3.Last question is more basic question.
Is there any way to kick extended test program in Visual Studio 2013's Test Explore
without registering my assemblies in the way recommended above.
I think it's much tender for developer's in debugging phase. For example,
it is very much helpful, if I could kick a unit test which uses my extended test class in the unit test extension solution.
That's all. Any information concerning this topics will be appreciated.

    Hi TrailRunner-MF,
One possible reason is that you didn't view the correct folder, for example, in my windows 8.1 64 bit, it is in the path: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE", not the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio
    12.0\Common7\IDE " folder.

  • FluidLayout missing from Blend for Visual Studio 2013 (Universal App)

    Hi,
I am building a Universal App with Visual Studio Professional 2013 Update 4 and Blend for Visual Studio 2013 and I cannot find the icon to switch on FluidLayout at all. The curvy icon does not seem to be there at all. When trying to find the xaml that goes
with UseFluidLayout, I noticed that this a property on ExtendedVisualStateManager which I don't reference since the assembly that contains this class does not seem to exists for Universal Apps. Has anyone got an idea what I need to do to enable FluidLayout
in a Universal App in Blend?
    Best wishes,

    Hello DobaKung,
    Thank you for your post.
I would like to know which version of Visual Studio you are using. Is the HTML project the HTML 5 project? Are you working with windows store app?
Based on your description, I feel that your issue is out of support range of VS general questions forum which mainly discusses

    Hi,
In my WPF 4.5 project in Visual Studio 2013, when I right clicked the name of my project it doesn’t show the option to open in Blend for Visual Studio 2013….. and when I try to open the project with Blend for Visual Studio 2013, it doesn't show anything.....
I don't see the project nor the UI of my WPF 4.5 project
How I can open my project in Blend for Visual Studio 2013???
    Thanks!!!
    Regards,

    Hi Jaquense,
open Blend. Open Project/Solution and select the .sln-file of the project you've created in visual Studio. That's it. In the Project Explorer in Blend you should see your files and you should be able to open up your XAML-files.

  • Crystal Report for Visual Studio 2013

I read on this forum that Crystal Report is available to be installed for Visual Studio 2013. How do I integrate CRVS into VS IDE you must run the install exe(!)?
How to get Crystal Reports Editor in Visual Studio 2013 Preview?

I did face the same error while installing SP9 (at the time of 64 bit runtimes).
I got this resolved by below steps.
    1. Uninstall SP9 (whole of it)
    2. Install 'Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update'
    Downloaded http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=14431
    3. Reinstall SP9.
