SQL strange behavior after 11g upgrade

Hi all,
After upgrading from 10.2.0.3 to 11.2.0.1 (64-bit RedHat), one of my SQLs behaves very strangely.
These are the facts:
- This is upgrade evaluation phase in 'lab' environment
- First run (after db restart) returns results very quickly (acceptable 0.4 secs)
- Every consecutive run is very slow (3-4 minutes)
- Explain Plan did NOT change between runs;
- Number of 'consistent gets' changed drastically (from few thousands to few millions) ...which would usually lead to inefficient data access plan (index), but again, the explain plan did not change!
- If I flush shared_pool, next run is quick again, and the story repeats ... flushing shared_poll is possible in test system only, it's out of question for prod system of course
- All above happens in 'lab' environment, i.e. no multi-user load yet ... practically 'one-session' system
- I have tried both AMM and ASSM memory management(s) and same problem happens regardless (my old 10g database uses ASSM and I am trying to implement ASM in new 11g db)
- On same server, the SQL in question performs correctly if I run it in 10g environment;
- I have updated my 11g Oracle software/db with the latest CPU;
In addition, I have played with 'result cache' in 11g, and putting 'result_cache' hint in my sql resolved the issue. But that will open a lot of new questions for implementation in real app environment ... so at this moment, I don't want to evaluate result cache ...if I don't have to
I am thinking to try this on another server and eliminate eventual issue with some kind of faulty memory on existing server ... after that - to open ticket with Oracle ...
Any similar experience out there? Any thoughts?

Strange behavior after suspend.

Hi,
For some time I have a strange behavior of my system after I awake my computer(after suspend). This problem don't disappear after update.
Ok, so if I suspend my computer, and awake him I can't run any program. Even if i was open some application, this application crashes. I have to restart my machine.
Somebody had similar problem or know how help?
I'm using Arch Linux x64, kernel 3.8, openbox. Suspend by "systemctl suspend".

DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN.CHECK_PRIVILEGE' must be declared after 11g upgrade

Hi,
I just uograded my dev database to from 10.2.0.4 to 11.1.0.7.2. During the testing phase of the upgrade, I had come up wiht scripts to execute after the upgrade to 11g so that my utl_smtp packages will run. But now, after upgrading to 11g, when I run these scripts, I get the below error -
ORA-06550: line 4, column 33:
PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
ORA-06550: line 4, column 3:
PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
ORA-06550: line 6, column 4:
PLS-00201: identifier 'DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN.CHECK_PRIVILEGE' must be declared
During the testing phase, I installed 11g instance and created an 11g database and then imported the 10g objects into the 11g database so as to test the application. Now, I think what happened is when I upgraded my 10g database to 11g using DBUA, it did not install APEX. I ytried to configure APEX by following instructions from this site - http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/11gr1_db/install/apexinst/apexinst.htm and this gives me error the error -
PLS-00201: identifier 'DBMS_XDB.SETHTTPPORT' must be declared
How do I install apex?Can someone please guide me this?

Hi, Ogan, I got this resolved.
After the upgrade by using DBUA, I tried to execute scripts to configure ACLs since my database has dependent objects. That's when I got error saying that dbms_network_acl_admin was not found.
when I queried DBA_registry , it didn't list XDB as one of the components. So, I understood this didn't get installed during the upgrade with DBUA. So, I installed XDB manually by running catqm.sql. This however created a lot of invalid objetcs which wouldnt get validated after tryign to recompile them with utlrp.sql. Most of the errors were looping chain of synonyms. Finally, I de-installed it and re-installed xdb and ran utlrp.sql to validate all the invalid objects. Now, everything is fine.
I guess xdb doesn't get installed during the dbua upgrade and maybe it needs to be installed seperately. But, that's kind of confusing because xdb is supposed to be a mandatory component in 11g. Can someone please clarify this?

Strange behavior after using NIK plug-ins

Every once in a while I encounter this strange behavior of Aperture. I first process the NEF's in Aperture (white balance, Exposure, Enhance... and, when needed, Cropping) and then I fine tune the image with the NIK plug-ins; when needed DfIne 2.0, Viveza, Color Efex Pro 3.0 and Sharpener Pro 3.0 Output Sharpener.
If I look at the processed picture then, I get a perfect presentation of the photo;

But when I press Z to zoom into a 100% preview I get this;

When I select the Loup in the normal view mode I get this;

This doesn't happen with all my pictures, yesterday I processed a series of 8 pictures an 6 of them showed this behavior the other two acted normal and I can't see what I did differently whit these last two.
When I export the strangely behaving photo's to a Tiff or a Jpeg, I get perfectly normal pictures.
The original NEF behaves normal. I have seen this behavior with NEF's from a Nikon D200, D2x and a D300. I have Aperture 2.1.2 running on a 2.33 GHz Intel Core Duo MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5.6
Does anybody know what's happening and if so, how to solve this problem?

I did some testing and what I found is too weird to be true.
First this mashed up look doesn't only happen after using NIK plug-ins, it also happens when making a roundtrip to Photoshop, given that certain conditions are met.
Give it a try yourself. Crop an image to an uneven pixelcount dimension, for example 4227 x 2797 and make a roundtrip to Photoshop. Then have a 100% view look at the new image in Aperture. You'll have a mashed up view, at least I do.
Now crop the same original image to an even pixelcount dimension, for example 4228 x 2798 and make an roundtrip to Photoshop once more. When you have a 100% view of the new image now, you'll see a perfectly normal photo.

I followed the solution provided on metalink[ID 736627.1], then also I am getting the above error.
SQL> @?/rdbms/admin/catnsnmp.sql -- drop user
SQL> @?/rdbms/admin/catsnmp.sql -- create user
Please let me know, if anyone of you know any other solution to resolve this.

That is correct but if any one have faced same issue, I can do it in easy and quick way.

After 11g upgrade "REP - 501: Unable to connect...."

Hi All,
There is a problem in one of our application which is deployed on 10g AS(10.1.2.0). The database it was connecting was upgraded to 11.2.0.3 from 10gR2.
A report is not getting executed from a form. But from web browser the report is working in standalone. Below i have checked so far.
Error I am getting:
REP - 501: Unable to connect to the specified database.
1. Disabled case sensitive login in the 11g database.
2.Used FORMS_USERNAME_CASESENSITIVE = 1 in ORACLE_HOME/forms/server/default.env.
3.Checked for zrclient.jar and rwrun.jar in classpath env variable.
4.Changed Service_name to sid in the tns connect string.
5.Restarted the whole opmn stack.
6.Run the form in debug mode and find the username,password and connect string it is throwing to report is OK. I can connect through sqlplus.
No error in forms server log in opmn or in report server.
Please help.
Now where to look at?

Well you may say this is a mistake from my side. The URL that was being generated by the form was with wrong report server name. The application has the capability to fetch the report server name from the server and store in a db table. From that table the report server name is read and URL is made. Don't know why, some developer wrote the report server name in the form instead of fetching it from the db. So there was a mismatch of the report server name and it was not running. All I was having access was screenshot of the error and the logs. So I missed out the URL.

After 11g upgrade - catalog objects not showing up

Hi,
We have recently upgraded from 10g to 11g.
Our repository is working fine, but the presentation services does not contain our objects.
I hav granted all privs to BIadministrator role and I belong to the BIAdministrators Group.
But, all of our contents are missing, dashboards, subject areas, prompts, etc.
Any idea what step I am missing here?

Is your installation client only .? Then its a known bug, you cannot open catalog in Offline Mode client-only installation. Catalog Manager is only available with OBIEE Server Full components install on Server.

Few questions here:
What is your authentication system ? Is it default ?
Are all your the Subject area permission is set to Default in repository. If that Default is set to NO ACCESS so may want to change default setting to READ.By default all users can see the subject area if we manually give him Read access in Subject Area Permission.However, if this is set to NO ACCESS in NQSConfig.ini then change this to READ under [SECURITY] DEFAULT_PRIVILEGES = READ;
Could you also generate Permissions Report in RPD and for a few subject areas and then see if the permissions are setup right in repository for that Roles ?

Strange behavior after software update

I'm working with a 13" MacBook running OS X 10.4.11. Recently, the owner ran Software Update to download the most recent security update. On shutting down before restarting, she was prompted to recover unused space in her Filevault-protected home directory. The recovery process hung, and she was forced to force-restart the Mac. And that's when things got weird ...
The Mac now exhibits all kinds of odd behavior, including widespread amnesia with regard to its preference files. Several applications - Mail, iChat, Address Book etc. - will randomly 'forget' all their stored data and revert to the 'never used before state'. iTunes repeatedly complains that its library file is corrupt. Mail attachments go missing. The Address Book lost all its data, and it took multiple attempts to get it to re-read the backed-up version of the data file. The Console indicates some errors reading plist files. Downloaded files appear damaged (trying to download the OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update, for instance, resulted in failed verification) although downloading them to another volume seems to work.
TechTool 3.11 doesn't indicate any problems with the computer, and following the Apple-recommended procedure for verifying a sparse image (i.e. a FileVault home directory) didn't report any errors. However, it's pretty clear that something is very wrong.
Has anyone seen this issue before, and found a fix? Or is the best solution to nuke and reinstall the OS from zero, then restore all the user's data from backups?

One other possibility would be to reapply that update and/or the The combo update for Intel-based Macs...

Strange behavior after waking from sleep

I recently got a Mac Pro 3.33GHz 6-core and put an OWC 60G SSD in as the boot drive. It worked great for the first month or so, but now it's acting strange. Before, when waking from sleep, my computer would immediately come on and be ready to use. Now when I wake it up, it takes a good 20 seconds for me to be able to use. (It's a very long time compared to my computer being awake before I could turn on the monitor.)
When waking, moving the mouse makes a stuttering motion and its not useable at all until my computer is done with whatever its doing. And, my external firewire drive always crashes like I didn't properly eject it. It never used to do this.
I've tried waking my computer without the drive on but it still acts the same. I haven't changed or installed anything since it has been doing this. Does anybody know what's going on? Thanks

Yes that is something I was thinking about mentioning which is called zapping the pram. It will reset some of your settings back to there defaults but no big deal and it does eat up your battery on your logic board so only do it when needed.
It may get rid of the problem.

while restarting, hold down option, command, P and R all together, which is supposed to do some kind of restore to hardware (I think)
Before you hit the power switch hold down the command option p and r keys then hit the power button and hold it down until you here the computer chime twice then let go.

the other bit he said about holding the boot button with everything unplugged I have not heard before but I would do it then zap the pram and see if your good to go.

SPA504G phone change in phone behavior after firmware upgrade

I have a SPA504G phone that was set up with a speed dial to 800 which initiates the page all feature of the phone. On the previous firmware I ran (7.4.8) That light was in a solid green state. I have recently upbraded to firmware 7.5.2b and now that key is blinking orange. The key still functions as intended and the paging works but I need to know how to get this light to show up as green again. Does anyone have any suggestions. Below is the XML line that Im using for that line.

Extended_Function are big mystery for me. Despite documentation. Especially interaction's of sub= and ext= in combined functions (like blf+sd). And the behavior is changing between firmwares (no change in documentation, no notice in changelog), so my confusion seems not to be caused by my misunderstanding of documentation.
Try one of:

It may or may not help. Note, the last one will monitor the state of 800 as well (if supported by PBX).

Strange behavior after waking from sleep, lion

Not sure how to describe my problem... When I come back to my Mac to resume working after the screensaver has been activated for some time (say 10 minutes or longer), the screen is frozen.... Well, not exactly. As I move my mouse around to wake it, it leaves a "pixelated" trail... Almost like an etch-a-sketch. When I locate my login icon, I then click it and the password window is revealed.
Note: it takes 10 times longer to wake from sleep than it did with Leopard. The system also feels generally much less snappy and responsive. I booted from an external drive today and ran Disk utility to verify and repair (it found tons of issues) but with no improvement. Also note, I performed "clean install from scratch" this time.

Resolution
Move the mouse or trackpad cursor over the center area of the login window so you can see the user icons. Click on the icon of the user that you would like to login as, type in the user's password, and press Return.
If the login window is configured to show only the name and password fields, type in the user's name and password into the fields, and press Return (even if you cannot see the rest of the login window).
Additional Information
This issue will not occur if the display is not sleeping when the account is logged out. Use the steps below to confirm that the account is not configured to log out automatically while the display is sleeping:
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. Click the padlock to unlock the preference pane and enter your admin password. Click the Advanced button at the bottom, then see if the option "Log out after N minutes of inactivity" (where N is the number of minutes) is enabled.
Open System Preferences > Energy Saver and configure Display Sleep to occur after the account is logged out, by dragging the slider to a number of minutes that is greater than N was set to in the previous step.
Important: If automatic log out is not needed, disable "Log out after Nminutes of inactivity" in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. This will also prevent the issue.

Strange behavior after granting a role associated to an access policy.

Greetings.
I am using OIM 11.1.1.3 and I am using also the DBUM Adapter 9.1.0.4.
I Defined 3 roles in OIM after that I defined three access policies with the purpose of provision roles at a database.
Every policy is associated to a role and a DBUM resource.
At the end I have the following policies.
Policy Name OIM Role Database Role
1. Policy Role A - Role A - DBRoleA
2. Policy Role B - Role B - DBRoleB
3. Policy Role B - Role C - DBRoleC.
When a role is granted to OIM User using the Administration Console the correct database role is provisioned at the specified database. But If I revoke a Role from the user and grant the same role again the specified role is not provisioned to the specified database.
Example: An user have "Role A", "Role B" ,"Role C" at the database the user have DBRoleA, DBRoleB, DBRoleC.
After revoking "Role A" from the user the database have the correct roles DBRoleB and DBRoleC.
But if the "Role A" is granted again to the user the DBRoleA is not provisioned at the database.
I enabled the dbum log file and it looks like the wrong role was chosen and the DBRoleB is the database role to be provisioned. Because we see at the log file when the "Role A" is granted to the user:

Finally we opened a Service Request to solve this issue, and it was a bug "OIM SENDING WRONG ENTITLEMENT NAME TO TARGET DURING ADD ENTITLEMENT OPERATION" and Oracle generated the patch 13499465 for DBUM Connector. Oracle had to provide us a new Readme to apply this patch because it wasn't well explained. So far the patch seems to work, we are making some tests now to be sure that the issue is solved. I just want to share that with the OIM community.

Strange behavior since auto upgrade to 10.4.11

Since an auto update two days ago, I get a dark box appearing on my screen sometimes where I'm typing, sometimes outlining a window, sometimes on the Back arrow in Safari; i don't perceive a real pattern. It doesn't interfere with anything but it's very annoying.
Also, certain menu items are now duplicated in the Apple menu: Restart, Log Out, and Shut Down appear twice.
How can I clean these up?

2. Whether the old 10g Page Group and Pages will be still available after 11g upgrade? Also can customer import the old 10g transportset into Portal 11g?
3. How about the customized Portal 10g objects (such as customized template, style, attributes) after 11g upgrade? Still be usable?
4. Customer use PDK to develop many portlets in 10g. Can they use JDeveloper 11g to migrate their old project to 11g automatically?

Export/Import through transports sets has always been limited to instances of the same version. It is not supported between versions as documented in the Administration Guide :

Can they use JDeveloper 11g to migrate their old project to 11g automatically?Never done this, but the Portal framework is able to consume JPDK providers which are running in older versions of the toolkit. If the providers are running in standalone OC4J containers, you would be able to upgrade the framework and keep the providers in their OC4J containers. This will allow you to focus on the framework first and worry about your providers later.
