Sqlplus takes long time to connect
Hi All,
I am using database 11.2 on Linux x86-64 platform.
Using SQLPLUS (bequeath) to connect to the database as a particular user it takes a long time to connect and connecting to the database as any other user is instantaneous.
If I use TNS names and remotely connect to the database as the same user, it fails with following error
ERROR:
ORA-03135: connection lost contact
Process ID: 0
Session ID: 0 Serial number: 0
Again I can use TNS names to connect to the database as any other user.
The profile details for the problematic user are:

Wifi takes long time to connect
My MacBook Air (13-inch, mid-2013) takes a long time to connect to any wi-fi network (~ 30 seconds), including known/previously connected ones. Upon wake from sleep, the network will have disconnected and will have to reconnect, again taking about 30 seconds. Also, I notice that even when the display turns off briefly, the network will still disconnect. It does not matter which network it is. However, Power Nap notifications will still show up and be up to date upon wake, suggesting that the disconnection is happening only when I wake the computer.
Things I have tried:
- removing all networks
- toggling wake for wi-fi network access and put hard disks to sleep when possible
- setting Location
- deleting all network system preference files and restarting
- resetting SMC
- restoring OS X Mavericks (10.9.3, clean install) with no recovery of network settings
Any ideas on further things to try?The latest OS X update (10.9.4) is supposed to fix some problems like yours.

MacBook Pro takes long time to connect
I know there are lots of threads about MBk Pro Airport connection probs so apologies for starting another
I’m using a MBook Pro 2.2Ghz running 10.4.11 together with an Airport Extreme (11n) base station. I have only recently switched to the ‘n’ version from the previous 11g which gave a host of problems with disconnects and so on.
Even though signal strength is good, when using 11n, the MBk takes a long time (up to a minute or so) to find and establish the connection, even though this is the only network in the house.
I have a feeling that some of the mods I did as per other threads to get a connection using the 11g may not have been fully reinstated to the current defaults. At present I have the following in system/library/extensions:
AppleAirPort.kext v 3.4.9
AppleAirPort2.kext v 4.0.5
IO80211Family.kext v 1.6.2
I have a feeling I should also have AppleAirPortEnabler.kext (version?).
Could someone confirm the above are the current default up to date versions as at 10.4.11, and also whether I should have the AppleAirPortEnabler.kext installed as well.
I know I should have the originals - I did but they have gone missing. Probably buried in the drive somewhere, neither I nor Spotlight can find them.
Thanks for any help.
Happy New Year to all on these boards from a rather dull UK Midlands.Given your connection will eventually come good you'll probably find that your problem lies with your DHCP server and your MBP's inability to quickly get a new address. Check the DHCP's server admin that it has a decently large enough address pool as having too small a pool can often cause these issues. I normally recommend having a pool around 50% more than the number of computers that it serves else a minimum of 5.

It takes long time to connect Satellite A110-049 to Actiontec GT701-WRU router
Actiontec wireless router model GT701-WRU
Since buying a Toshiba A110-049 running Windows Vista (this was necessary because the old laptop gave up the ghost) We have been having problems connecting to this router.
Using the old laptop, running Windows XP, connection was instantaneous and reliable.
Now, using Vista, it takes a long time (10 minutes or more) to get a connection. In fact, we pick up signals from more distant networks more readily than from our own router.
I have been in touch with Actiontec technical support, who have been very knowledgable and helpful in the past. However, I am told that nothing can be done about signal problems.
I think it is rather strange that there were no signal problems before migrating to Vista: the router and laptop are both in the same locations.
Is there a known issue with either this model laptop or router?
I'd be grateful of any help.
JohnSorry to raise this problem again, but I have just discovered something.
Routinely, when I first boot up without connecting to the wi-fi router and then later attempt to connect, I can be waiting for twenty minutes or more before the router is 'seen'. Today, in fact, I waited for an hour without my laptop finding the router in the next room, whereas a neighbour's (unsecured) Linksys router was picked up instantly. Having become rather fed up by now I re-booted, this time via the 'Internet start button' (sorry, I can't remember its proper name, but it's the button just below the main start button on the left of the keyboard!). This time it connected with the router immediately.
Can anyone suggest what is happening here?

Front Panel DataSocket takes long time to connect
Hi,
I have build a very simple DataSocket application.(Front panel DS only)
I transferring data between two applications running on 2 PC's connected via a wireless network
What hapens to be is when the router is connected to internet (via ADSL modem) the connection between clieant and server is established imidiatly.
However when Modem is disconnected it takes about 1 minute to establish connection.
At both cases I am using the internal IP of the server PC (the PC datasocket server is running on)
1. I used 2 different wirless routers and result is the same
2. I used static IP addres on both client and server PC's
3. DSTP url I use is "dstp://l192.1.128.106/number" (not computer name but rather ip number)
4. datasocket server is running on one commputer. The other (client) is running under Runtime (its an "exe" file)
5.When I look at data socket server I see that "process connected" is updated immediately. BUT the front panel controls are waiting for about a minute till datasocked LED is turns green. During this time the datasocket server looks very busy.
I have to emphasis again when the router is connected to internet connection is established immediately.
My gut feeling tels me it has to do with DNS. I don't usderstand why.
Is is related to the server PC DNS?
The client PC DNS?
The router DNS?
Any help would be extremely appreciated!Thanks again Kyle, I have followed up some of you suggestions. With some trial and error (and a fiew bucks...) the problem was solved. The way I solved it: 1. I bought a new router (Edimax BR-6424 ~$40)2. I have configured the PC the Datasocket server was running on, as with dynamic IP and obtain DNS automayicaly. The router was not connected to Modem and everything is working fine. (if you look at atached VI - "time to establish connection was about 2S. This is the VI I am running on the client PC) Alternate 2. is configure static IP BUT LEAVE DNS VALUES EMPTY. that works fine too. (2S for connection) When I used static IP with some values in DNS the time to establish conection was ~16S. Aperrantly my problem was not related to modem at all.I have made my test with one bad (or misconfigured) router (level one WBR-3406TX).The test I made with the other router (old Edimax I borowed from a friend) were with bad DNS configuration.So I got wrong impression that my problem was related to absence of modem. I am going to use the new router. But just for curiosity. Do you have any Idea what could get wrong with the old router (level one). The DNS was configured correctly. (obtain DNS automaticaly) but still when I ran the attached VI it took 16-20 S to establish connection.??? Best regards, Hazkel

Why it takes long time to establish Database Connection ???
Can any one please have a look on the following code snippet and show me which mistake I'm doing so it take long time to connect to DB(more than 5 minutes !!!!)
Thanx in advance ...
try{
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
String dbString2 = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@" + "127.0.0.1" + ":" + "1521" + ":" + "nat";
aCon = DriverManager.getConnection(dbString2, "scott", "tiger");
stmt = aCon.createStatement();
System.out.println("Connection to DB Established");
catch (ClassNotFoundException cnfe)
System.out.println("Class not found:");
cnfe.printStackTrace();
catch (SQLException sqle)
System.out.println("SQL Exception: " + sqle.toString());
sqle.printStackTrace();Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
Why do you need this if you are going to Oracle. Try
removing this. It might be trying things out with the
old driver and then moving to the new driver. This has nothing to do with it. (And it doesn't "try things out")
>
Also check your machines. They might be slow. There is
no reason, it should take more than few hundred
milliseconds to connect to a database on localhost as
your case is.Possible reasons...
- Network traffic
- Faulty router/gateway
- Busy server
- Faulty network card (either end)
- Conflict with another box -
Database Connectivity takes long time if one of the Node is down .. ??
Hello All,
Env: 10.2.0.4 on Solaris 10
I have 2 nodes.
When Node1 server is down, it takes long time to connec to the database.
tnsping would give "OK(2050ms)". Below is the tnsalias.
RAC_test =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST=20.268.169.123)(PORT= 1521))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST=20.268.169.127)(PORT= 1521))
(LOAD_BALANCE = yes)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = DK.com)
(FAILOVER_MODE =
(TYPE = SELECT)
(METHOD = BASIC)
(RETRIES = 180)
(DELAY = 5)
)I put the trace on sqlnet.ora and found that first it pings to the "20.268.169.123",
since the Server is down there will not be any reply and this consumes the delay and
later it would ping "20.268.169.127" and connect to it.
If i keep "20.268.169.127" above "20.268.169.123" in tnsalias, and keep "LOAD_BALANCE=no",
it gets connected very fast, as its directly connecting to Node2. In tnsping i get Ok(40ms).
How do i reduce the connect timing if i use the first step. Why does it take long time for
Oracle Client to understand that the Node1 Server is down ?
TIA,
J JI hope the IP's you are using in the TNS are Virtual IP's.
You must use Virtual IP's / hostnames for the failover to be quick. If Node 1 is not available then then it's (Node 1's) virtual IP would also get assigned to Node 2 hence all client connections are still able to get a response from the Node Virtual IP address without needing to wait for TCP/IP timeouts. This helps clients to get notified immediately that node 1 is unavailable and the connection tries the 2nd ip/host in the connect descriptor.
Hope this helps.

We have recently upgraded from SAP B1 2007B to SAP B1 8.8 PL8. SP B1 Client connects very well on server but when trying to connect from client machine it takes more than 10 minutes to connect. We have disabled firewall on server as well as all client machines. We have 3 clients each having OS Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Kindly assist with the same asap.

In P6 8.4 web client for loading Resource page takes long time
As per tested configuration of P6 EPPM 8.4 we are using IE 9 and JRE 1.7.0.67.
I had checked RAM and its utilization is Max 40%, CPU usage is also very less.
Enough disk space is also avaliable (70% avaliable).
Enteries in resources are also very few just 20 numbers.
Project page is loading normally. But for loading resource page it pause for almost 15-20 seconds.
Last week i had faced issue that application freezes while loading resource page so i had restarted application and it was working.
May i know, what will be reason to take long time to load resorce page and possible solution.I am attching java console tracer log for while loading resource page..
please check.

RFC takes long time to reach to test
Hi,
i have issue related to RFC connection from BW to R3 systems
if i tried to test the connection it takes long time to respond
the result as following:
Logon 32779 msec
Transfer of 0 KB 1 msec
Transfer of 10 KB 2 msec
Transfer of 20 KB 3 msec
Transfer of 30 KB 4 msec
and if i tried after that to do the same test again it works fine
and the result as following
Logon 8 msec
Transfer of 0 KB 1 msec
Transfer of 10 KB 2 msec
Transfer of 20 KB 3 msec
Transfer of 30 KB 4 msec
So can you please tell me why it takes too long time to logon first time?
from the OS level i can ping the target system with out any problems.
Thanks
SE...

1.Check both the systems are on same domain.
2.Check in your SM59 ,you have mentioned gateway and gateway host .if yes try to remove and check else revert back
3.under special options check slow rfc connection if it is already checked try to unchecked and if not try to check it.
4.Is the background user aleremote for BW-R3 connectivity?If not can you check the user and it's roles?
5.attach the routetrace from BW server to R3 and see how long does it take fto reach there first time and second time and see the difference?
Good Luck.
Thanks

Hello .. I've been subscribed for ic;oud for 20$ per year and I found it useless for many reasons: that I can not disconnect my mobile while the uploading process and it takes long time for uploading my data .. Its not a reliable system that's why I need to deactivate the space service and take my money back .. Thanks
The "issues" you've raised are nothing to do with the iCloud service.
No service that uploads data allows you to disconnect the device you are uploading from while uploading data. Doing so would prevent the upload from completing. It is a basic requirement for any uploading service that you remain connected to it for uploading to be possible.
The time it takes to upload data to iCloud is entirely dependent on how fast your Internet connection is, and how much data you are uploading. Both of these things are completely out of Apple's control. Whichever upload service you use will be affected by the speed of your Internet connection. -
Why outlook2011 mac version* takes long time to boot with OSX
why outlook2011 mac version* takes long time to boot with OSX
Okay, so after doing all of the above, the computer still takes between 40 seconds and 1 minute or so to boot up, and the VersionCue messages still appear. However I discovered that the "kdcmond cannot retrieve..." messages disappeared after I disabled my ethernet connections. So at least I know that that had nothing to do with the extended boot-up time.
I have heard that the more RAM you have, the longer it takes to boot due to the RAM count. Since I have 10 GB, maybe this is why?
I've included the most recent Console messages below:

Why it takes long time to download and udates for iphone4
why it takes long time to download and updates for iphone4 ?
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
Why do you need this if you are going to Oracle. Try
removing this. It might be trying things out with the
old driver and then moving to the new driver. This has nothing to do with it. (And it doesn't "try things out")

Also check your machines. They might be slow. There is
no reason, it should take more than few hundred
milliseconds to connect to a database on localhost as
your case is.Possible reasons...
- Network traffic
- Faulty router/gateway
- Busy server
- Faulty network card (either end)
- Conflict with another box -
