hi!
does anybody know what is the special content that SRMMDMCAT01_0.sca have?
different iViews?
if i'm implementing srm-portal-mdm-r3 it's necessary?
because i'm not using all the srm catalog, and only installed the mdm portal content, i'll have some problems?

The purpose of SRM-MDM is to use MDM as the catalog. You would store the data in MDM and SRM will then reference MDM ad-hoc. As part of the implementation, SAP delivers a webdynpro application which is deployed on a Netweaver Java stack, and that's what the user uses to search the catalog. The two applications (iViews) are called SearchUI and AdminUI. If you aren't going to use these, how are you planning on searching the catalog from SRM?

Please assign full control, end user ticked permission to the content admin role in the permissions under system admin->

SRM-MDM CATALOG PI Content Import

Hi All,
We have imported SRM-MDM CATALOG 3.0 in Integration Repository.
When we imported .tpz files all the objects are imported in SWC SRM-MDM CATALOG
except CatalogueUpdateNotification_Out (Message Interface and its corresponding datatype and message type)
are not imported.
Could you please give me path from where I can download PI content for SRM-MDM CATALOG 3.0 that wil have CatalogueUpdateNotification_Out (Message Interface and corresponding datatype and message type objects)?

Use of the 'Back' link in Catalog/Portal - Useful info for Catalog Admins

Some info for anyone out there who may have noticed the small 'issue' with catalog items being duplicated when exiting a catalog using the Portal 'Back' link rather than the 'Return to Application/SRM' link.
A problem has been identified there where portal navigation causes duplication of catalog data even where no item is selected in the catalog.
The process might be:
1. User accesses a catalog (any, SAP or External) and selects/adds to cart an item.
2. User selects the 'Add Item' button in the 2nd step of the SC GAF, returning to the same catalog.
3. User clicks on the Portal 'Back' link and is returned to the 2nd step of the Shopping Cart Guided Application Framework
4. The initial shopped item is duplicated in the shopping cart even though no items were selected by the user.
To ensure that this does not happen SAP have created note [1445078|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1445078] which provides the means to remove the 'Back' link thus negating the possibility of this issue occuring in the case of any catalog access.
Please follow the steps provided in the note to modify the Portal Content and remove the back link entirely.

The catalog no longer opens in a new window from SRM 7.0 as we now use Portal as UI or NWBC, in order to maintain session reliability the catalog frame is launched from within the Shopping Cart Guided Application Framework, this SC 'session' is then placed in ACTION SUSPEND, until the return from catalog is generated where the session is triggered to reopen with a RESUME command.
If you wish to remove the portal navigation 'back' link, I believe you already have a note for doing so, if this has not worked, re-trace all the steps in case something was missed. It should work. By adding the bypassinb/outb_handler parameters into the call structure you should then have available the Return to SRM link instead in the catalog.
You are also correct, use of teh integrated call structure in SPRO is no longer recommended, it is relevant for older UI technology like ITS.

Error in loading Portal Content with IE

Hi,
I have some problems with customization of Sap Portal, maybe someone can help me
with some informations.
I am using Sap Netweaver Portal 7.0 with IE 6.0.2900 SP2 and Mozzila Mozilla/5.0.
When I try to display Content Administration -> Portal Catalog with IE I have one
error(after a long period of "Loading..."):
Error: Object required - and the Portal Content is not displayed at all .
In this way, I don't have acces to Portal Content with IE.
I also tried with other browsers (Opera, Netscape, Lotus) but there is the
same issue.
In Firefox, the Portal Content it's displayed, but there is another issue:
I open a Role object and I try to Edit it's properties: these aren't displayed
in the right corner of the screen. I checked in the Error Console of Firefox
and there is a JS err: event is not defined: error in roleeditor.js
In this way I am not able to handle any issue regarding Portal Content.
Maybe some of you, guys, had this problem or have any idea about solving it.

Yes, the error appears when you access the portal with the IP address which should not be the approach.
Use the domain name instead ... i.e hostname.domain.com:portnumber.

Portal content in Arabic for limited users

Hello Colleagues
We are about to implement ESS on EP.In our backend system ECC 6.0 data is available in English.
Our client requirement is that for certain users Portal content should be available in Arabic.I have gone through some threads in which we can change the Portal language to Arabic for all with Portal Translation .But my question is whether it is feasible for limited users as rest of users will access Portal in English.

Based on the Language set on UME standard things will change in portal. To translate your Custom application language in Portal then follow the below link and translate it manually . So that only users with Arabic language set can see portal in Arabic Language.

SRM Catalog Download

Hi all
I need to download the full SRM Catalog structure together with all details from SRM to logcal XML file.
I've checked all around here on SDN but have not comed up with a clear solution...

My concern is more or less UNICODE..
So far I have tested this
- I have a deep structure with all the data about the Catalog structure <t_dyntable>
- then I try to convert this contents into UTF-8. By doing this I will get some of the special characters to show up as they should ( it think one of those were .amp that were successfully translated to &)
- Then CALL TRANSFORMATION were done to get the XML-file
Below you can see some different way's I have tried... Trying to use XSTRING.... and download via type BIN for GUI_DOWNLOAD. My starting point was with UTF-16, but with that I could not read the XML file at all - With UTF-8 I can read it but still as soon as some kind of special sign shows up the XML-editor complains about - Not allowed letter. Please help

With coding above the download xml-file will contain
&amp : is interpreted as & in the xml-editor = OK
BUT the file contains other special signs that do not work:
± : is not interpreted ok. XML-editor will stop analyzing the file = NOT OK
Do you know if I could use another way of codepage or something to also handle these special signs.

Howto setup portal content folder path?

we want to deploy our par-file (portlet archive) into the portal catalog folder path
/portal_content/other_vendors/every_user/com.name.etc.etc.par
How to setup this path so that the par-file is correctly build and deployed to this path?
The path can be seen with the Portal Content Inspector inside the NetWeaver portal.

A par file is not being deployed into the pcd, it is being deployed to the server.
You can then build an iView based on this par anywhere you want within the portal_content folder.

Default Node in Portal Content

Hi,
Is there any way i cud set a particular folder as my default node, so that when i click the content administration tab on the TLN , it should load this path as a default.

This helps when there is a huge list of nodes and is a pain each time to click all the nodes to go to my working folder..

Hi Peter,
there is no possibility at the moment to mark a folder as default in the Portal Content Catalog. What you could do, is to use a "_" in front on the NAME of the folder (and not the only the ID), so that it comes up at the front of the folders list.

Problem with Permissions while accessing Portal Content

Dear All,
Im facing some problems with the permission in accessing the portal content.
When i right click on any of the folders in the catalog displayed under the System Administration - > System Configuration -> System Landscape -> Content directory provided by SAP . I get the following Menu options on right click -> NEW -- > Folder, Change ID, Copy, Delete.
I dont get a option such as NEW --> System(from template) which is important to configure the ABAP ECC 6.0 System with the EP 7.0 to enable logon through the Portal to access the ABAP Database through Web browser.
I have installed EP 7.0 JAVA stack alone separately and ECC 6.0 ABAP stack alone separately.
I have tried assigning System Admin Role, Super User Role, Group as Administrators. But nothing seems to work.
Im not sure of the roles to be assigned.

Scripting error and no portal content display

Everythin is installed and workin fine execpt wen i login d EP usin superadmin(username:admin password:admin) i am not able to view any Portal content. the portal catalog is empty. i am recievin d scripting error:

Forget about it, this thing has bitten me before ... grrrr . use the FQDN (or at least the hostname) instead of the IP address. Everything works fine now.

is KM required in EP for 'publish to EP6' - portal content & role? we are not try to publish to KM catalog, etc. just the portal content and role. does KM required for that?
