SSHD starts after reboot?

Hi!
I need to make a script which disables telnet, ftp etc. accesses to a Solaris 9 host in order to use only SSH connections to that machine.
I would like to be sure before disabeling all those services that ssh is enabled and the daemon will start after restart. Is there any way to check this?
Thanks.

Hi
The sshd startup file will be mostly in
/etc/rc2.d (To check if it works run sshd2 stop & sshd2 start)
Once you have confirmed disable telnet & ftp in inetd.conf file
Re-run the inetd command to re-read the inetd.conf file.
In case the ssh daemon does not start after reboot then you always have the (Assuming) root password and the console access which shoul dhelp you to start the ssh daemon.

    Hi godithisudha
Have you tried backing up phone data and reset *#7370# followed by 12345 (Nokia default unless changed by you) in case anything got corrupted?
It may be an idea to reformat memory card as well after saving data!

  • SSH does not start after reboot

Hi, I have a problem with my sshd daemon. I have updated my OS, I have changed the .pacnew files and tested service with "systemctl start sshd.service" and it worked good. I have run command "systemctl enable sshd.service" and command executed good. But after reboot service does not start.
I have run "systemctl status sshd.service" and result is that service is loaded, but in Activa line it is inactive (dead).
I dont know what is happening, why is it inactive if it is loaded?
    Thank you for you help.

    These are outputs:
    $ systemctl status sshd.service
    * sshd.service -OpenSSH Daemon
    Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/ssh.service: enabled)
    Active: inactive (dead)
    $ systemctl status sshd.socket
    * sshd.socket
    Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/ssh.socket: enabled)
Active: active (listening) since Fri 2014-05-30 09:57:52 COT; 12min ago
    Listen: [::]:22 (Stream)
    Accepted: 0; Connected: 0
It looks that socket is working, but service isn't. I have reviewed "journalctl -b" and sshd service isn't shown it.

  • Firefox will not start, after reboot.

For a few months now Firefox will not start after I reboot my computer. In order to get it to start I click the exe then must go into task manager kill it, click the exe again, kill it again then, from there it will typically start, but sometimes it may take one or two more trys. When clicking the exe firefox will appear in the task manager under processes but will will start with ~7% CPU usage, then quickly drop to zero every time until it does actually open and start. I have ran a full system recovery and started anew after reinstalling mozilla several times failed to fix the problem. I run virus and spyware checks often and come up clean, and also run Chrome as a default browser.

    Hello Tom.
You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

  • PC Suite 6.86.9.3 does not start after reboot

    Hi!
I have some strange problems with the PC Suite. After the first install everything is working well but after a reboot the PC suite is not starting after double click on the desktop icon.
But i can install tools on the phone or start some of the suite tools. Only the PC Suit does not run.
The repair function of the installer does not bring any results. The only way ist to deinstall the suit and all drivers and to clear all remainig nokia registry entries. After that I can install the suite again and it will run again... until I reboot the system. And so on, and so on...
Does any one have an idea how to solve my problem?
    Thanks
    Michael

Actually it does not work on one Windows XP SP3 computer, but it does work on another Windows XP SP3 computer.
Probably this is a .NET application, as I have encountered several .NET applications that do NOT work on some specific computers.

  • CRS not starting after reboot

    Hi,
I have just installed RAC in a test environment using vmware server 2. I have Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 and used oracle 11g (11.2.0.1). I have not installed database software yet and just installed oracle grid infrastructure.
When i restart any of the node and issue "crsctl check crs", i see following output.
    [root@rac2 ~]# crsctl check crs
CRS-4638: Oracle High Availability Services is online
CRS-4535: Cannot communicate with Cluster Ready Services
CRS-4529: Cluster Synchronization Services is online
    CRS-4533: Event Manager is online
Now, "crs_stat -t" also does not work unless i manually start the crs daemon using "crsd start" command. Why crs daemon is not starting automatic unlike 10g RAC. Is it normal behaviour and what is proper way of making this daemon start automatic.
    Salman

I am assuming you are running crsctl check crs immediately after reboot. It takes bit of time for crs to start and you do not have to start it manually. By default crs is started automatically and if for some reason you disabled it, you can enable it by using "crsctl enable crs" .
You can also check the status of individual services by using:
    # crsctl check crsd

  • Mountain Lion Setup doesn't start after reboot

    I have a curious problem:
I wanted to upgrade my MBP to ML, but it doesn't work. I start the installation script, accept the licence agreement and choose the SSD as the installation target. The installation script prepares the installation (Install OS X data folder is created in the root directory) and want to restart the MBP to execute the installation.
But the restart doesn't start the upgrade, it starts the login screen and after that I'm back on my old 10.7.4-based desktop without any installation. What's getting wrong here? How can I force starting the prepared installation after reboot?
My SSD is encrypted with FileVault 2, maybe this is a relevant information.
How can I upgrade my MBP? Please help!

Unfortunately this is not the reason.
It doesnt't make any difference if FIleVault is activated or not. I decrypted the complete disk, but the problem still remains.
Any ideas? I can't believe that ML ist not installable on a six-month-old MBP :-(

  • EM Personal Edition Won't start After Reboot

...I installed Oracle 10g on a WinServer 2003 machine. EM worked fine after installation of Personal Edition; after reboot, EM service won't start. Everything else works; I can even query the HR tablespace from Access and SQL Server. I've set the correct user roles on the SYS, SYSMAN, SYSDBA, etc. accounts.
I also noticed that after the reboot, the folder that was previously called:
    OC4J_DBConsole__ORABETA35
    Is now called:
    OC4J_DBConsole_192.168.2.18_ORABETA35
...but when I try to start the service from the services snapin it looks for the previous folder. So I copied the new folder into another folder and renamed that to the previous name to see if that would work; it didn't.
    thanx,
    John Bonifas

There's a systemd service so maybe try systemctl enable [email protected]
There's also a checkbox in the dropbox preferences for starting on system boot.

  • OSX will not start after reboot from single user mode

    Hello,
Yesterday my iBook G4 was only starting in BASH mode. I've looked at discussions describing Kernel Panic and have followed the advice posted to the following post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1553062#1553062
When I reboot I get past the language setup and the boot progress screen/progress bar gets almost complete before going to a continuously stalling/reloading blue screen.
    When I try the command:
    rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
described in one of the responses I get a 'No such file or directory' message
I assume that as when I try:
    cd /System/Library/CoreServices/Setup\ Assistant.app/Contents/MacOS
    It returns '-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 58912 16 Aug 21:10 Setup Assistant'
it is the file that is missing.
As the discussion thread I was following seemed to go off on a bunch of other tangents (and was completed), I am hoping somebody might have suggestions for my specific problem under this new discussion.

    Welcome To  Discussions Kongxyz!
It will help if you first post some background info.
    "...only starting in BASH mode."
Explain exactly what was happening, and what the screen displayed.
Exactly which model iBook G4 is it?
    What is the Processor speed?
What size is the Hard Drive, and how much space is available?
How much RAM is installed, and is it original or added?
Which version number of Panther 10.3.x is installed
What peripherals do you have connected? A keyboard, mouse, printer, external drive or modem, router, etc?
What happened between the last time the iBook started successfully, and when it didn't?
Have you made any changes, like upgrading the system, updated or installed any applications or programs, etc?
Have there been any unusual occurences, like freezes, crashes, power outages, etc?
Are you able to startup from the system install disc to run Disk Repair?
    Have you run Repair Permissions?
    Instructions posted below.
Is the Mac shutdown overnight, or does it run 24/7?
Have you ever run any routine Maintenance procedures?
THESE ARE THE STEPS FOR USING DISK UTILITY TO REPAIR YOUR HD
1.Insert the System Install disk, Mac OS X CD-ROM disk, or Restore DVD disk, then restart the computer while holding the C key. Use the System disk, of the OS, that is currently installed.
2.Once started up from CD or DVD, on the Menubar at the top of the screen, choose Disk Utility from the Installer contextual menu.
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from disc to access Disk Utility.
    3.Click the First Aid tab.
4.Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5.Select your Mac OS X volume, if necessary.
6.Click Repair. If DU reports errors it has fixed, re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported.
7.Repeat steps 5 & 6, but select the Hard Drive this time. It's usually the first listed with the manufacturer's model number. Make note of the S.M.A.R.T. status.
8.When finished, select Quit Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
9.Select Quit Installer from the Installer menu.
10.In the resulting pop-up window, choose restart.
11.After the computer has restarted, you can eject the CD.
TO REPAIR PERMISSIONS ON THE STARTUP DISK
1.Open Disk Utility, located in Applications/Utilities, and select the startup disk in the left column.
    2.Click First Aid.
3.Click Verify Disk Permissions to test permissions or Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions. (I never "Verify". Just run "Repair".)
Rerun RP until the only messages reported, are listed here Spurious Permissions Errors Using: 10.3.x, authored by Michael Conniff.
When "Repair Permissions" is complete. Quit "Disk Utility".

  • WebLogic Admin server fails to start after reboot

    Hi Gurus,
Weblogic Admin server won't start up after a server reboot. Note that weblogic was gracefully shutdown before the restart.
Also note that the following files were accidentally deleted after the reboot (but I don't think that should cause an issue..):

    Issue is :
    Caused By: weblogic.management.provider.EditFailedException:
One probable reason can be some change made to the config.xml file . If you have previous backup for the config.xml file then try to replace the config.xml file and restart the server .
Another reason for this exception may be that there were some changes made to configuration through the Admin Console which were not activated completely and Admin Server was restarted . under this scenario weblogic will create a /pendig dir and have a config.xml file created there with the un-activated changes .
some workaround you can try to restore the Admin Server :
    Under domain dir ,
\pending directory -- take backup and delete the dir .
    Under Admin Server Dir :
data\store --- take backup and delete the dir .

  • OCS 10.1.2 on Win2003 - mail application cannot start after rebooting serve

    Hi
We have installed OCS 10.1.2 on Win2003 (single box) and the mail appln was running OK after the installation. On rebooting the server, we found some components that were not started (eg Internet directory for Infra) which we started manually via EM.
The Mail application however cannot be started giving the error message for all the mail components:
    - failed to start a managed process after the maximum retry limit
We tried to start it manually using
    - oesctl startup midtierhost:um_system:xxx
    and even got the message:
    - All processes already started for midtierhost:um_system:xxx
However, in EM, or when doing a
    - oesctl show status midtierhost:um_system:xxx, we get the error message:
    - midtierhost:um_system:nntp_in:116107583446856959 <no response>
Any idea of where we can check to see what's going wrong? I'm not sure of where to check the logs for possible errors.
    Thanks for your assistance

Glad I could be of help - maybe you could help me out too, please? I have the following problem: when I create an appointment with Calendar, and add some participants to it (with email notifications option checked), at first everything seems to go the right way.
But if I delete the appointment/meeting, the following happens:
    - the notifications regarding the delete of the meeting are not sent
    - the whole mail system seems to hang, and I am not able to send emails anymore
Do you have the same behaviour on your installation? It would be useful to me just to know if other people are having this trouble....
    Thank you!

  • ADFS 2.0 service does not automatically start after reboot

    Hello,
We have two ADFS 2.0 servers in a farm.  Any time these servers reboot, the ADFS service does not automatically start, even though the service is set to auto start.  If I manually start the service it starts within 10 seconds.
The error in the logs show:
A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the AD FS 2.0 Windows Service service to connect.
The AD FS 2.0 Windows Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
But after the reboot is completed, I can manually start the service with no problems.  Again, this ONLY happens on restart.  I've searched the forums and found potential solutions for people who have consistent issues with starting ADFS every time.
    Any ideas?

UPDATE - I built a 3rd ADFS server and was unable to reproduce the problem, until...
I went in to the service properties of ADFS and saw that even though I specified a Log On As account during the ADFS wizard, it changed itself back to "Network Service".  I re-entered our ADFS service account username and password, it was
accepted, and I rebooted.  On the next reboot, the service did not start automatically (with the same errors as the other ADFS servers), but I was able to manually start it.
I then went to the original ADFS server having the problem, switched it to use "Network Service", rebooted, and the service started up properly on reboot.  I then changed it back to the named domain service account, and the issue came right
back.  There are no other errors in the System Log indicating a problem with anything else.
So my guess is that something is happening to prevent the service from starting with the named Domain account on server reboot.  But what?
