SSL & The WRV200

Hell all, I am new to your community, and have a question surrounding the WRV200.
I have searched all over the place and couldn’t find anything related to what I was attempting to do.
I have Verizon Fios coming in and plugged in directly to a Netgear FVG318. Behind the FVG, I have a 16 port switch that runs off to other parts of the house that connects PS3's other WAPs etc. Everything is on the 192.168.0.x network. I currently use Greenbow to IPSec into my home network while away and when I connect, it assigns me an IP off of 192.168.0.x. I recently picked up a WRV200 toying with the idea of putting it behind my Netgear operating as a DHCP/SSL server. Here is where I am running into problems. i contacted Cisco, and they can't tell me if the WRV200 supports SSL over the LAN ports. Is anyone doing this today?
That said, my next attempt is to move the ethernet connection from LAN1 to the WAN. In doing so, I'll use the MAC address to assign it a static ip on the 192.168.0.x network. The issues with this is, unless i am mistaken, I will have to use 192.168.1.x (or some other network) on the LAN of the WRV200 now, which takes away its ability to be a DHCP server since it won't be able to assign on the .0.x. Additionally, if I SSL in, I presume it will assign me an IP off of the .1.x as well.
To resolve the issue surrounding the SSL, would a static route of 0.0.0.0 --> 192.168.0.1, which is the IP address of the Netgear solve the issue of getting to my other devices when SSL'ing into the network or am i just way over thinking this process and making this more difficult than it is?
At the end of the day, I am just trying to put an SSL device on the network and take away some of the load from my Netgear box.

I think this is not possible. Having your WRV200 behind another router will not perform the way you want it. I really think that the NETGEAR router should be the one doing all the stuff the you needed, even if you do static routing.

The firmware download for the WRV200 is not setup correctly.

I get the image file. The file downloaded is called "WRV200_1.0.39.img". Is this the firmware upgrade? Shouldn't it be a zip file or an rmt file?

When downloading the firmware file from linksys, this file is ready to be used as is and does not need to be converted or opened.

Coldfusion 11 SSL Certs applied - The APR based Apache Tomcat library which allows optimal performance in production environments,

Both the Coldfusion admin and additonal site work fine on HTTP.
As soon as I attempt to enable SSL websockets and install SSL certs, the Coldfusion 11 Application service will not start. I followed the steps below....

Server was a cloned VM of the test server with developer copy of CF11, but license has been purchased and applied. SSL certs have been imported successfully, paths are correct in CF Admin to the cert file etc.
Do I need to install another version of Coldfusion to get around this issue or is there a download update I need to apply?
If i reconfig the \cfusion\runtime\conf\server.xml to comment out the SSL sections it works fine.
Any assistance welcome - I can't allow this site to made publicly available with using SSL.

@Scott, first are you running update 3? If so, let’s clarify at the outside that, as that bug report (you point to) does indicate in the notes below it, there is a fix for a problem where this feature broke in that release. And as it notes, you can email [email protected] to request the fix (referring to that bug), or you can wait for it to be released publicly as part of a larger set of fixes.
If you are NOT on update 3, or you may apply the fix and find things still don’t work, I would wonder about a few things, from what you’ve described.
First, you say that the CF service won’t start, and you offer some lines from the ColdFusion-error log. Just to be clear, those particular error messages are common and nothing to worry about. They definitely do NOT reflect any reason CF doesn’t start. But are you confirming that that time (in the log lines) is in fact the time that you had started CF, when it would not start? I’d suspect not.
Look instead in the coldfusin-out.log. What does THAT log show at the time you try to start CF and it won’t start? You may find something else there. (And since you refer to editing the server.xml file, you may the log complains that because of an error in the XML it can’t “parse” the file. It’s worth checking.
You say also that you have confirmed that “paths are correct in CF Admin to the cert file”. What path are you referring to? There’s no page in the CF admin that points to the CACERTS file in which the certs are stored. Do you perhaps mean on the “system info” or “settings summary” page? Even so there’s still no line in there which refers to the “cert file”.
Instead—and this could be a part of your problem—the cert file is simply found WITHIN the directory where CF’s pointed to to find its JVM. Wherever THAT is, is where you need to put any certificates. So take a look at the CF Admin, either in the ”java and jvm” page (and the value of its “Java Virtual Machine Path”), or in the “settings summary” or “system information” pages and their value for “Java Home”. Is that something like \coldfusion11\jre? Or something like \Java\jdk1.7.0_71\jre? Whichever it is, THAT’s where you need to put the certs, within there (in its \lib\security folder).
Finally, when you say that if you “comment out the SSL sections it works fine”, do you mean that a) CF comes up and b) some example code calling your socket works, as long as you don’t use SSL?
To be clear, no, you don’t need any other version of CF11 to get websockets to work. But if you are on update 3, that may be the simple problem. Let us know how it goes for you with this info.

I also have the same problem, however if I use Firefox or Opera sites with ssl connection work fine. Still, I can't use Google Chrome (ssl), Safari (ssl), the Mac app store (generally), or the iTunes store (generally). Both the iTunes store, Safari and the app store won't respond, and Chrome displays this error: (net::ERR_TIMED_OUT). The problem persists regardless of what network I'm using. Also, when trying to access the keychain or iCloud, the process will not start (will hang). I didn't have these problems at all before updating to 10.7.2.
Sometimes rebooting helps, and sometimes not. If the problem disappears by rebooting, then it only lasts a few minutes before it reappears. It is very frustrating, especially since there doesn't seem to be any obvious or consistent way of which to fix it.
I'm also using a Macbook Pro 13-inch mid 2010.

By "ssL" do you mean "SSL", i.e. Secure Sockets Layer, aka HTTPS? I'm just not sure about the funky capitalization.
If you do mean SSL: when I google for "tomcat ssl" the first hit I get looks promising: "The Tomcat 4 Servlet/JSP Container - SSL Configuration HOW-TO".

WRV200 IPSEC VPN to a remote site with 2 different subnets

My old WRV54G had no problem with this! I'm trying to connect an IPSEC tunnel back to a router at my main office, there are two Subnets there 192.168.0.0/24 and 10.171.131.0/24. In my old router I would set up two tunnels to the same gateway with different subnets and everything would work fine.
When I do this with the WRV200 both tunnels come up but in the view of the VPN status they both have the remote network listed as 192.168.0.0 /24 and I can't seem to get them both to work. If I delete the 192.168.0.0/24 tunnel (tunnel #A) and just use the tunnel#B I can connect to the 10 network.
Anyone been able to get this working?

Ok, so the first thing you will have to think about is the encryption domain of the existing L2L VPN. Since your aim is to publish a Web server from another site through a L2L VPN connections you have to consider what the source addresses for the Web server connections can be?
It might be that you would need to have the source address for the L2L VPN in DC1 as "any" and naturally on DC2 the destination would be "any".
Though in that case it would probably cause problems if the Web server would need to use the DC2 Internet connections for something. This is because we would have now defined that traffic from the Web server to "any" destination IP address should be tunneled to the L2L VPN.
One other option might be that you actually configure DC1 site so that all incoming traffic from the Internet towards the 111.111.111.111 will have their source address translated to a single IP address (to be decided) before entering the L2L VPN. This would eliminate the need to use the "any" in the L2L VPN configurations because the Web server would see all connections come from a single IP address and therefore would not cause problems for the DC2 Web server IF it needs to access or be accessed through the local DC2 Internet connection.
Judging by your examples it would seem that you are using a 8.2 or older software level. Would you be willing to share some current configurations (with masked public IP addresses) or should I just give you some example configurations?
Most important ones would naturally be current NAT configurations and configuration related to the L2L VPN connection.

If the SSRS is changed to SSL mode and http binding is removed after Reporting Service Point is installed. The Configuration Manager Console shows nothing in Reporting Pane. After digging into this problem, the cause is that the SSRS information has not
been updated in Configuration Manager Database. The following steps are taken for finding the root cause.
1. After changing to SSL, the Reporting Service Point log shows the error as shown in Figure 1.
The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

From the error, seems the cause was the Reporting Service Point detected a wrong port. We digged around in Registry and found the information is a Registry key named ReportServerUri at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\SRSRP. After changing the Report
Server address to https. The error is gone as shown in Figure 2. But the issue remains, the Console still shows nothing. It is not a right direction.

It seems the Console wants to access the old http site and it fails to get into the site for sure. Actually, the Site Configuration information is come from Site Control File and as we all know that ConfigMgr 2012 doesn’t store the Site Control file in the
file system. However, it’s stored in the SQL database (as XML file). The XML file is stored in a view named vSMS_SC_SiteControlXML. This view is a read-only view. We cannot edit it directly. The related table stored the SSRS information for this view is SC_SysResUse_Property.
Running the following query will list the SSRS address. We can see the address is still the old one. This is why the Console shows nothing.

This article is just to let you know why the Console cannot show the Reports after changing to SSL mode. We do not intend to make you change the table in Database, if you want to change it, you will be at your own risk. The real solution to this situation
is to reinstall your Reporting Service Point.

Configuring JMS and loadbalancer with SSL termination? Has Anyone done it?

Hi all,
I'm having a problem getting JMS or even any JNDI lookup to work with a hardware load balancer and SSL termination. Has anyone used such a configuration? The load balancer in question is a Cisco CSS 11500 Series which has an SSL module. A client communicates with the CSS over SSL, the SSL module decrypts the packets and sends it for content switching and on to WebLogic as cleartext.
Without SSL termination everthing works fine. With SSL termination active, Web service and web content all work fine, but I can't get SSL tGetting Initial context from ms01

How to specify alias name in system property while making 2way SSL con ?

Hi All,
I am tring to run a java client with 2way SSL which uses CAC card as keystore for the client. I have addded the following system property in my client program to make it work and change the java.security file to add pcks11 provider.

The program works fine and handshake is successfully done . But the problem is when i have more than one trusted certificate in the CAC card, it take a default certificate. I want to specify the certificate that should be used to do the client auth maybe specify the alias name . I didnt find any system property to do so.
Please let me know how to specify alias name as system property so that the 2way SSL used the specified alias for the client auth or is there any other way to specify the alias name. As in case i acccess the server URL from any browser i get a certificate selection prompt and the connection is established with the selected certificate.

You would have to write a custom KeyManager. See the JSSE Reference Guide.

Hey guys. I have a simple SOAP_API I am using to send SOAP over SSL. It seems to connect fine but give off some shaky results. This is the error I keep getting:

it seems to mainly happen on these two peices of code:
UTL_HTTP.write_text(l_http_request, l_envelope);
UTL_HTTP.read_text(l_http_response, l_envelope);
Sometimes the first and sometimes the latter. I know my XML is well formed, and im thinking the response is to big for the variable (im thinking the response could be larger than 32k. not sure though).
I've searched all over this forum, but it seems like the people who have solutions to this particular problem found it on meta-link. I dont have a meta-link account. Could someone please simply explain the solution and problem im running into?

I have tested the exact call I am making using 'soapUI 2.5.1' so I can compare results to ensure I get the code right, and I am expecting a response of 1755 bytes (well short of the 32767 that is said to cause this error).

Printing with IPP (SSL) and job user names

Hi,
Environment: Windows 2008 R2 Servers, WIN 7 and WIN 8.1 clients, all 64 Bit
I setup a printing environment including a FollowYou solution. To realize data encryption from end2end, we decide to use IPP over SSL for Printing. Everything works fin, IIS is installed, all certificates are in place and the necessary clients are enabled/
installed.
Because of the FollowYou solution, i need the origin user who sent the Job from his client via the print server to the printer. Thats where my problem is. I tried three ways to print from the client: SMB, IPP and IPP over SSL. Just if i use SMB, the username
is transferred correctly with the Job and can be seen in the job list in the stopped printer queue. Neither with IPP nor with IPP over SSL the jobname is coming with the job (i see nt authority/IUSR instead).
Is there something i can do to see the username within the job using IPP?

Problems with connecting to MacOS X Snow Leopard Server using SSL

I can successfully connect to my SL mail server if I do not enable SSL, but if I do enable SSL the iPhone mail client just fails to connect with a message "Cannot Get Mail - The connection to the server "servername" failed". I have set SSL to ON in Mail preferences, but I cannot see how to install the server's certificate. With most mail clients it seems like the server's certificate gets installed the first time you try and retrieve mail, but this does not happen with the iPhone.
The reason I am having to switch SSL on is that I have a number of PC mail clients, and it does not seem as if any of the various versions of Outlook support any form of authentication other than plain text (except NTLM or SPA, which are not supported by MacOS X Server, probably because they are MS proprietary). So I think I will probably have to fall back to a plain text login, but using SSL to secure the process.
Excuse me if I have misconstrued any aspect of this, but it is based on what I have been able to trawl up so far in an extremely under-documented area.
I have looked at the iPhone documentation but it is very sketchy in the area of SSL implementation. For example the iPhone User Guide just says "To adjust SSL and password settings, tap Advanced. Ask your network administrator or Internet service provider for the correct settings."

Thanks for the suggestion, but the question is really to do with how to get an SSL certificate onto an iPhone since the normal way of doing this with an email client doesn't happen.
I have posted a reply in a thread in the SL Server section regarding the best way to cope with Outlook clients, which is the question the other way around. Essentially what I need is one form of secure authentication which works for both iPhones and Outlook - and this doesn't seem to be possible on the basis of my experience so far.
So back to my question - how do you connect from an iPhone to a mail server which requires SSL?

Forms no longer render in IE after turning on SSL.

We are using LiveCycle Designer 7 to create dynamic forms. The form is filled out on-line and then submitted back to the site. We have had no problems with this until recently. We did some security testing and found that when we turned on SSL, the form doesn't render in the browser.
Using Fiddler, I can intercept the request and open the content in adobe reader without issue. However, when the request gets to the browser, everything is rendered but the form.
We do have PDF's that where not generated through LiveCycle that display fine. But forms generated through livecycle do not. It doesn't appear to matter whether they are static, adobe 6 static or dynamic.
This appears to happen on different machines from XP to Vista. I believe we are all using IE 7. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't tell you if this is the problem you are having or not, but Microsoft did release a windows update which tightened some of the processing of SSL. This affected some certificates which had worked prior to that update. If your application worked but then stopped, see if you can correlate the date it stopped with installation of a windows update. Of course, if you made a change to your application around that date, that would be suspect also.
I didn't follow one comment you made "everything is rendered but the form". What is it that was rendered and what wasn't?
