Stacking folders/web pages - facility seems to have vanished!
When I first had my new machine (a month or so ago) when I minimised web pages/ folders they used to automatically stack - now they just sit alongside each other ... what have I done wrong? - How can I get them to stack again please?

of course, that's how it should be. I'm still confused about what you are trying to do. as i said, minimized windows don't stack on top of each other. neither do folders you put into dock (such folders in the dock are called stacks so maybe the name created confusion). the only way to combine several minimized windows in one in the dock is by using "minimize to application" feature of snow leopard. if you enable that feature in dock preferences app windows will minimize into the application icon in the dock. you'll have to press and hold on the application to get them back.
Then of course I moved them around a bit and they went 'poof' in a puff and gone - I had to go into time machine to get them back.
why? just drag those same folders from finder back to the dock again.no reson to go into TM. what you see in the dock are just aliases. when you drag a folder off the dock and it goes poof it has no effect on the original folder in finder.

The Firefox Page Zoom feature does a domain by domain level of saving the users preferred zoom level settings, there is no default Page Zoom level setting in Firefox.

help. I have a Google Hangout in 40mins and my sound seems to have vanished. I went to Sys Prefs and it came up with Digital Out....and the Internal Speakers option is no longer there. How do I reboot, or fix this please?
There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
2. Make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. If not, the machine needs to be serviced. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by the warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
11. Reset the NVRAM.
12. Reset the SMC.
13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/Preferences/Audio
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Recreate your settings in the Sound preference pane.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
14. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
15. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store. -
PS CS6 Auto Recover??? Posted earlier but seems to have vanished
Hi... posted this earlier but the problem/question seems to have vanished... so, reposting.
Was asked to troubleshoot a Win 7 PS13 (CS6) crash today - first time to my knowledge PS has ever crashed! On restart, no Auto Recover option. All work lost. Did some checking.
Found two folders:
1. On the boot disk, found Users\xxxx...\....\AutoRecover
2. On the exclusive scratch disk - set on G: - found the folder G:\PSAutoRecover (as well as the PS temp file in the root of G:).
Both the AutoRecover folders were empty.
Set auto save time to 5 minutes... Rebooted. Restarted PS and created a new file - test01.psd. Saved it. Did some work, didn't save... kept checking... (played games for 15 mins). Checked. Both AutoRecover files remained empty.
Crashed the system (forced shutdown). Auto recover option and the test file was not showing up in the recent files list... opened the original test01.psd. No work subsequent to the original save showed up. Nor any recovery option. Did some more work on the file... just checked... both the AutoRecover folders are still empty.
(Just closed PS and saw that the PS temp file deleted itself. Both the AutoRecovery folders remain - empty.}
So, my questions are:
1. Is there a 'Permissions' attribute i need to set? Or...
2. Is the AutoRecover messed up? Or...
3. Is the installation messed up and should i advise a reinstallation?

Think you can somehow help... Have done the following, again today:
1. Uninstalled the entire CS Suite. This includes registry and folders
2. Ran the Adobe CS6 Cleanup tool - twice. Once for the entire suite and a second time for PS
3. Ran a registry clean up program
4. Did a Disk defragment - not really important, but still
5. Rebooted between various stages...
6. Reinstalled CS6 Master Collection minus some programs which are not needed such as Flash, AI 32 bit, etc. But installed both versions of PS
7. Validated using PS
8. Started - separately - both versions of PS. Set scratch to E drive (primary partition - 100GB) and Autorecover to 5 mins
9. Ran both versions of PS and opened and modified a file
In each case, the 'PSAutoRecover' folder was created on the scratch drive - E:\ alongwith the PS temp file. But the 'PSAutoRecover' folder never got populated.
Must be something unique to this system but can't figure out what. It can't be a permissions issue because both the scratch file and the autorecover folder are being created.
BTW... all Adobe entries in the config.sys startup are disabled - except for the Adobe CS6 Service Manager. But can't be those either as they are all related to updates, Acrobat, etc.
Yet, putting the primary scratch on C;\ solves the problem. However, as both Curt and you have tested, that should not be an issue...
(Have not been able to check on any other system as this is the only one that has CS6.)
System specs: Intel i5 processor, 12gb RAM, 64bit Win 7, P-55 USB3 Motherboard
Grateful for any suggestions / ideas...

have you checked the song file folder to see if the files are there? if they are you may want to load them into a new song template. if they're not and you remember the the audio file titles then do a search to locate. does the regions changed give you the option to search for the files? if so, then point to the folder they're in.

It would be 'Bookmarks' > 'Show All Bookmarks' and in the window that appears there is an 'Import and Backup' menu on the top. Click that and then choose 'Export Bookmarks to HTML..'. Now on the other PC it would be the same procedure except for the last, where now you have to choose 'Import Bookmarks from HTML...'. -

If I got your query right, do you mean you don't have all the options in the Accordion Options panel as pictured below?
If the above is true, can you try re-inserting the Accordion panel and check if the options then become available for you. Also, please check if you're running the latest version of Muse i.e. 4.1.8 as on today.
If the problem persists, please try creating a new Muse project and see if you are able to replicate the behaviour on a fresh Muse site as well.

Hi, I have a project with a lot of stacks. I want to export a selection of it to a Web page. I set up a smart album to populate the Web page. That works fine... in Aperture's Browser. In the actual Web pages (and the viewer), only one image per stack is used. I tried to select the images by rating or by color, same result. Stack picks only is unchecked.
Even if I don't use a smart selection, but add the images directly to the Web page, only one per stack is used. Stacks are all open.
This feels like a bug to me, but does anyone know of a workaround?
thanks!Hi Grant. Stacks are, by design, collections within a Project which have one specified image as the "Pick" for each collection of images (Project or Albums) that includes the Stack. (Think of literally arranging photographs in a grid for review, and sliding pictures that are so similar that only one is of interest into a stack with the "pick" photo on top, the similar ones underneath, and the stack occupying one spot in the grid.) This general idea of "one important image per Stack per location" is how Stacks are implemented in Aperture -- as you've discovered.

When you drag a stack into a webpage album, web journal album, book album, or slideshow album, the entire stack appears in the Browser, but *only the stack picks can be used for publication in webpages, web journals, books, and slideshows*. {Emphasis mine.}
One is temped to use Stacks as a general subordinate organizing level within a Project (or Album). In my experience, this never works out. Stacks are a specific organizing tool for sets of images which have one "Pick". Whenever I have two or more photos I want to work with within a Stack, I split the Stack so that each important photo becomes either a Stack Pick or stands alone. This violates my organizing method, but works well in practice.
(I see the same (mis)behavior when dragging an image from one Stack to another even when the Stacks are expanded (Aperture merges the two Stacks). This happens whether the Stacks were created by splitting a Stack, or by independently creating separate Stacks. I suspect this is a bit of unknotted fringe on the edge of the code, otherwise known as a bug.)
I use Stacks regularly and find them invaluable. Just remember that each Stack can have only one "image to use" per container, and that that image must be designated the Stack Pick for that container. Since you cannot have more than one usable (roughly speaking) image per Stack per container, you must extract from the Stack images you want to use until all of these images are either Stack Picks or stand alone.

I'm at work and my MacBook Pro is connected wifi but a web page will not display. Other have the pros and is connect. Tried restarting but not working
You're not a liar. They should not charge you $90, it is within the 1-year warranty that comes with it and you are entitled to a free replacement. I have never had the problem myself on a 15 month old MacBook, so there must be SOMETHING that happened to it, maybe without you noticing. But might I recommend a wireless trackpad or Apple "Magic Mouse?"

I downloaded the most recent version of firefox and since then when I type a web address into the address bar, I can no longer just press enter to get to the website I want, Instead, I have to use the mouse to point to the arrow at the end of the address bar and click on it.
Driving me nuts! Never had this before!Success! I disabled the AVG search and now I can press enter to get to a web page! Thanks for the quick response!

My web page short cut icons have chnged
My O/S is Windows 7 and I use the latest Firefox.
I have trouble with some of the Icons for web page short cuts, that I save to the Desktop. I make these short cuts from the Firefox browser on to my Desktop, using the drag and drop method. When I make a short cut, I keep the icon that automatically appears with it, which is specific to that particular web page. Some of the icons have changed arbitrarily. This happened after I cleaned the Computer using a third party programme. I tried making new short cuts after deleting these, but the same wrong icons keeps coming back.
See the two icons in attachment. One is showing the proper icon for g-mail and the other just a blank wrong icon.
How can I get back the original icons for these short cuts?

I need to have the app Money start automatically at 0700 each day so that I get automatic notification of billos to pay today. I used to be able to do this through an apple script, then more recently through a standard alert within iCal. But things seem to have changed and that no longer works. I have tried adding an attachment to the daily event but that also does not work, and there seems to be no recent documentstion/help which assists me.
Problem solved. Use a calenday which is on the Mac, not on iCloud. Then set up a daily event and use Custom Alert to open the .app file.

Thank-you.go to help at the top of your browser then click on restart with add-ons disabled, firefox will close then it will open up with just basic firefox, then you can swicth the add-ons back on and it should be ok, ive just done this myself and it worked
