Starting an application within a presentation

I am doing a presentation in a few days where I would like to do some demos of other software (LaTeX, R, Netlogo). Is it possible to open an application from within a Keynote presentation? That would be neat ...

Hi Tom_Backer,
I am not too sure of what you mean. But if I am understanding your query properly, as far as I know, you cannot open up another application from within Keynote. You can do hyperlinks to Webpages. I don't know if this might help as you can showcase the software webpages. You might consider putting in screenshots or even a quicktime movie of you using the software (there are some good 3rd party applications for this). Just some ideas. Not what you were hoping for, but it might allow you to still show demos of your software in action.

  • Automatically Start Up Applications within Guest Account

    How do I figure my guest account to automatically start up an application when a guest logs in?

    there might be an easier way but the following will work.
    1. Download and install [Leopard Server Admin Tools|http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/serveradmintoo ls105.html].
    2. make sure guest is logged out and start Workgroup manager (it's part of Server Admin Tools).
    Enter localhost in the address field and authenticate with your admin username and password.
    3. select Guest account in the left pane and click on Preferences. Then choose Login and finally select the Items tab. select Always and add the program you want to start when guest logs in.

    Hi Rammohan,
    You cannot use OPEN DATASET to transfer data from application server to presentation server.
    You can do the following :
    <b>Do 1st point in BACKGROUND</b>
    1. Read the data file from application server into an internal table using OPEN DATASET
    <b>Do 2nd point in Foreground</b>
    2. Once you get the data into an internal table, then use FM GUI_DOWNLOAD to download it on presentation server
    You cannot use the above 2 point together in Background because its not possible. Hence you need program it partially in background and partially in foreground.
    Best regards,

  • XML document structures must start and end within the same entity

    Hi there,
    I'm working with a client/server application and using SaxParser for reading in xml. I get the SaxParserException: XML document structures must start and end within the same entity. I understand what that means, but it isn't applicable! The xml data being used is well-formed. I checked the well-formedness with Stylus Studio to make sure. Here's the data:

    I'm using Eclypse as my IDE. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with it? Or maybe there's something wrong with the class I'm using for reading in the XML? Followng is the class.
    Please advise,

  • Is it possible to run a java application within a web browser?

    Hello everyone here! I have a question about running a java application within a web browser and I would appreciate it very much if anyone here can give me some answers.
    I have a standalone java application written with AWT. Basically this free application lets users to select spectral lines from a big file based on some criteria and plot those selected lines. Yes, it is a very simple application. Now I want to run this application within a web browser so that users don't need to download the application from the ftp site and thus don't need to install in their machine. Is it possible to run this application within browser? If yes, can we get the same plotting function as we run the application separately and where should I start out?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Automatically focus JInternalFrame when starting the application...

    Hi,
    I wonder why my JInternalFrame is not selected (focused) when I start the application - in NetBeans GUI editor I have set the following properties to make my JInternalFrame automatically selected when the app starts:
    o enabled
    o selected
    o visible
    Can anyone tell me how to make my JInternalFrame focused?
    Thanks
    - Stephan

    Thanks but unfortunately that didn't solve my problem...
    I even tried the following code excerpt...
    try {
        jInternalFrame1.setSelected(true);
    } catch (java.beans.PropertyVetoException e1) {
        e1.printStackTrace();
    }... but it didn't work - my jInternalFrame1 is not focused on startup. Is this a bug in Java 1.4?
    On the other hand I noticed that the example application (InternalFrameDemo) doesn't focus the first internal frame on startup, too - when creating another internal frame from within the application that frame gets focused...

  • Help!Could someone kown how to call ArcGIS application within Labview?

    For my desigh, ArcGIS must be as a application within Labview.Since I haven't found any information in this field. Could some help?
    Now I have finished the two individual parts of Labview and GIS module, but the main problem is how to call for GIS module in Labview. Maybe some one can give me some suggestion.
    Thank all!

    Hello
    If you created a DLL out of your GIS application you could then call it from LabVIEW using a Call Library Function Node.
    The best place to start understanding Call Library Function Nodes is the LabVIEW Help.
    Also, you might want to take a look at this link.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to start a application with a login window?

    hi there
    does anyone have any idea on how to start an application with a login window? a login window is the first frame or window to be displayed when an application starts running. and only correct login id and password have been entered the real application will start. any sample out there? thank you.

    You can start a new thread by making a thread object and passing it an implementation of a runnable object. Runnable has just one method, public void run(), this is was gets executed in a second thread. perhaps the code you would use would look something like this.
    <code>
    // set up thread for login window
    new Thread(new Runnable() {
    public void run() {
    // construct your login window here
    // when you are done processing the
    // password....
    if(goodPassword) {
    authorized = true; // a global variable
    notifyAll(); // don't forget this
    else {
    System.exit(42);
    }).start();
    // control does not stop this code gets executed while
    // the above thread is running.
    // Set up main program here. This is done in the
    // backround.
    while(!authorized) {
    synchronized(this)
    { wait(50); }
    // now when the user logs in this frame pops
    // up real quick.
    myFrame.setVisible(true);
    </code>
    Hope you can figure it out.. good luck :)

  • How to start an application in the background using "oscmd" on windows

    Is there any way to launch a windows application using oscmd without suspending xmath?
    From a "cmd" window one can use the start command:
    > start notepad
    Which starts the application without suspending the "cmd" window.
    From xmath command line, one may use:
    > oscmd("start notepad")
    This starts the application. However, the user cannot interact with xmath as long as the application is running.
    Thanks

    Hi Farshid,
    There is a command in the Shell API of Windows that runs an executable:
    #include <utility.h>
    #include <ansi_c.h>
    #include <shellapi.h>
    #include <windows.h>
    int main (int argc, char *argv[])
        int res;
        if (InitCVIRTE (0, argv, 0) == 0)
            return -1;    /* out of memory */
        HINSTANCE stuff;
        stuff = ShellExecute(NULL, "open", "notepad.exe", NULL,NULL, SW_SHOW);
        printf("%i",stuff);
        return 0;
    You can build a similar program into an executable and since the Parent
    executable will finish executing, control will return to XMath even
    while notepad is still open.

  • How to transfer file from application server to presentation server in background?

    Hi Experts,
    How to transfer file from application server to presentation server in background?
    Thanks in advance
    Namita

    Thanks Raman and Challa,
    We want to move file from application server to Shared folder, not on local machine. We checked FM which you guys have provided but those are not able to read file from application server.
    We need this program to run in background so that we can use this in daily process chain.
    Appreciate your inputs on this.
    Thanks,

    ..please help me ..its urgent..

    you can do the FTP with Unix commands..
    initially connect to the application server  by using command
    FTP <app server ip>,then it willl ask for username and password... after successful connection you  can use the following commnads to transfer file
    lcd <destination path name>(set the dest path)
    cd <source path>(set the sorce path),
    get <filename to be transfererd>( do the transfer)....
    You can do same with ABAP code also, for this you need to use some function modules like..
    FTP_CONNECT ( to establish the connection)
    FTP_COMMAND ( to execute the commands like cd, lcd get,put)
    finally FTP_DISCONNECT to close the open connection...

  • Why do I get "Error 1 occured at Config Data Registry.vi(get data) invalid object 0" while starting my application?

    Why do I get "Error 1 occured at Config Data Registry.vi(get data) invalid object 0" when starting my application created in LabVIEW 7.1?  I am starting the application in a PXI rack running Windows XP.  I have an executable written in LabVIEW 7.0 that runs without this error.  After clicking the Continue button in the error, the application seems to continue happily.
    Is there something I need to include when I make the executable?
    I would like to understand and eliminate this start up error.
    Thanks in advance.
    BobNorth

    Hi Bob,
    I looked through the program and I figured out where the error is coming from, and potentially what is causing it. In a lot of the cases of the program you are searching a 1-D array for the name of the case, and if you don't find it then it skips the function and gives "Error 1 occurred at Config Data Registry.vi(CASENAME) invalid object 0". I attached a screenshot that shows what I mean. The Search 1-D Array.vi is returning a -1 which means it didn't find the case. The reason I believe this is happening is because the shift register for that array is not initialized. While the other cases "reset" and "register" interact with the array shift registers and most likely create the array you need, if the program defaults to the "get data" case then it will try to run that before registering and won't have an array to search. This would also explain why it only has this problem at first and seems to run just fine after that. To fix this you should either make an initial array and wire it into the shift register or make the "reset" case the default as opposed to the "get data" case.
