Startup display not in full-screen

After connecting my Macbook Pro with Retina to an external display, the start-up screen was not in full-screen anymore. But when the startup is complete, the display returns to full-screen. May I know how to fix this problem? Thank you in advance.

  • Want Keynotes' presenter's display to be NOT in full screen

    Hello,
I do live music shows on a Single MacBook Pro. Retina Display, Running 10.10.1
In my show I run Keynote for visuals (always on a secondary large TV via HDMI out) and I run Audio via MainStage from the Logic Suite.
I want to be able to exit work in MainStage, (switching songs, changing volumes etc.)  WITHOUT interrupting Keynotes Video display or pictures, text, videos etc.
    How can I do this.
The only way to play a slide show is to play it, and when it plays it automatically turns the presenter's display to full scree, thereby locking me out of access to MainStage, or any other software.
Any way to play a Keynote slide show NOT in full screen for the presenter's display????
    please help.

When Keynote is in play, no other applications will be seen as Keynote takes over complete control of the graphics system, if you switch from Keynote to another application, Keynote will be hidden. Keynote has always worked this way.
We use two Macs to be able to display Keynote and a second  application.

  • Mac OS 9.2 Not in full screen

    Hi,
I just bought iBook G3 800Mgz from ebay, to run Mac OS 9 with old apps to open some old documents.
However, the iBook G3 work prefect with Mac OS 9.2.2 & Mac OS 10.4.11 ..
just one problem that Mac OS 9 doesn't run in full screen !!
I prefer to startup from full OS 9 rather than running as a classic sys under Tiger or Jaguar OS, ..
When I startup from OS 9, the startup operation work normally full screen with Mac OS 9 logo window appear for 2 second, then the screen becomes small during the startup processing, and the OS 9 continue complete the startup with the same size.
After several trailing to solve the issue but without effects, I discover where is the problem but can not fix it .. the problem with OS 9 feeling there are external monitor so it gives for that monitor full 1024x768, and on iBook screen 640x480 .. I found this on control strip with monitor control panel, also when I run the monitor control panel it's give me two windows, a window for each display !!
The picture below explain more with I mean .. OS 9 desktop with half size of screen and center of the display.
it's exactly same thing happen when you connect your mac with projector, even your screen support until 1280x800 for example, but the projector just 800x600, you will see your desktop on your laptop decrease with a large black frame ..
Now, with all my discretion, I didn't figure out where is the problem that push my iBook feel there is another monitor .. I tried remove some extensions and reset prm but no effect.
Please help and Thanks in Advance.

    Hi, asulaiti -
Now I figure out what's the problem, I tried to remove Display Preferences & Monitors Preferences files. But nothing change.
I thought that would probably not help. The problem is with some of the specific files (probably extensions) that are needed by the hardware on your iBook G3 - the ones you have are intended to support different hardware, hardware that is specific to the other model.
You will need to replace the applicable files with ones compatible with your machine. Two ways to do this -
    • Locate someone who can furnish you with copies of those files. I don't know for sure, but I suspect they would include all extensions whose name starts with ATI.
    • Re-install the OS 9.2.2, using an original disk set intended for your model. As I mentioned previously, this may be difficult to find. A retail (or universal) OS 9.2.2 Install CD was never released; the only install CDs for OS 9.2.2 are model-specific ones.
As far as sources go, you might check with an Apple User Group - most large cities and universities have one. This Apple support page may help in that regard -
    http://www.apple.com/usergroups/
You may be able to find an appropriate disk set on places like eBay, but chances of doing so are slim - and you need to be careful that you get what you need.
You might also check back with the seller of that machine - ask them for the original disk set for it (that disk set really belongs with the machine).

  • Flash Player does not launch full screen upon Windows restart

We have a Flash application file (flash.exe file) saved on the Desktop of our client's 46" touchscreen. We've created a shortcut to the application in the Windows Start/All Programs/Startup menu as we have 4 reboots scheduled during the day for this application. Upon reboot, the application does not launch full screen but if I cancel out of the application through the Task Manager and go to the Startup menu and double click the shortcut to the exe file, the application launches full screen. The size of the screen and application is 1920x1080.
    Other information:
    Windows XP SP3
    Flash Player 10
(Please note I have fixed the Window System Error that you see in this screen shot)
    Thank you for your help!

Do you have set it to Maximized ?

  • Application no longer assignable to a desktop in Spaces. Useable only in full screen, can't access it when not in full screen.

This is a repost to correctly ID this as a Spaces issue. I am using a MacBook Pro with a second monitor in extended desktop. I put iMovie in full screen and when I put it back, it disappeared off of both desktops. I can see it in Spaces and I can use it in full screen. However, it is not available when not in full screen. When I drag and drop it in Spaces to a desktop, it animates off of the top of the screen versus landing on that desktop. I have tried to change the application assignment by right clicking on the iMovie Icon > Options > Assign To, but it affects nothing. I have rebooted both with the external monitor and without, I have uninstalled and reinstalled iMovie and I have tried many combinations of screen resolutions and it is still assigned somewhere other than a desktop. It appears to no longer be associated with or assignable to a desktop. Anyone have any ideas?

Can you access iMovie without being in fullscreen when you do not have an external monitor connected? I cannot. No matter the monitor configuration, it is only accessible in full screen for me.
I agree - it is for sure a bug.

  • Please help: Linking from PDF to other PDF's that open in a new window... but NOT in full screen mode!?

    Hi All,
I have a project where a PDF is viewed in full screen mode when opened, from within this I wish to link to a variety of other PDF's.
Creating the links is simple, however I can not work out how to control the new window so that the new PDF opens with the toolbars and menus, ie not in full screen mode.
Any help would be apreciated, google is not my friend on this one.
    LB.

    Hi Thanks for the response.
I thought I had, but what seemed to be happening was that the Linked PDF was
adopting the full screen property of the original PDF. I'll give it another
    go and let you know.

I am using iPad 3 and I try to use 30-pin Digital AV adaptor for mirroring on my Samsung HD TV.  Unfortunately it is not a full screen projection.  Anyone can help?

The iPad Screen is almost square, HD TVs are rectangular so will never be full screen.  When watching movies, the movies native aspect ratio will be used rather than the iPads screen aspect ratio so will look full screen if the movie is full screen, but most likely will be seen in wide screen letter box format. with black bars across the top and bottom as that what most movies from iTunes are in, format wise

  • When receiving email, Thunderbird freezes and displays "Not Responding" in screen header. Adds popstate folder to account.

I'm running Thunderbird 31.6.0 on Windows 8.1 with BitDefender 2013.
    PROBLEM:
When getting email, Thunderbird freezes and displays "Not Responding" in screen header.
When TB is closed then reopened, a popstate folder (popstate-1.dat) is added to account. A new popstate folder appears with each crash/freeze, and as long as they are not deleted, they pile up with unique numbers (popstate-1.dat, popstate-2.dat, etc.).
    (see attached screenshot)
NOTE: I've included troubleshooting details below for all the fixes I tried, thinking it might be helpful to anyone who has a similar problem and is thinking about going down those paths. Ultimately, it seems that FIX ATTEMPT 5 is the winner.
    ==================================
    FIX ATTEMPT 1:
Following the suggestion in this archived mozilla support post: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1026288, I restarted Thunderbird in Safe Mode (Help > Restart with Add-Ons disabled...), checking the "Disable all add-ons" and "Reset toolbars and controls" and clicking "Make Changes and Restart" button.
In Add-Ons Manager, BitDefender Toolbar now appears to be disabled.
    (see attached screenshot)
    But the problem persists.
    FIX ATTEMPT 2:
Following the suggestion in this archived mozilla support post: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1016811, I clicked Help > Troubleshooting Information > Show Folder button. This opens a File Explorer window for 3I58b9dq.default (this is the "profile" folder) which contains panacea.dat and folderTree.json files.
I changed file names to panacea-changed.dat and folderTree-changed.json (rather than deleting them, in case I need to restore them), and I reopened Thunderbird.
This did not solve the problem -- and, furthermore, the profile folder seems to have automatically generated new panacea.dat and folderTree.json files to replace those for which I changed the filenames.
    FIX ATTEMPT 3:
Following the suggestion in this mozilla support post: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1044774, I restarted Windows 8.1 in safe mode with networking enabled (using these instructions: http://www.howtogeek.com/107511/how-to-boot-into-safe-mode-on-windows-8-the-easy-way/.)
TB does not crash when Windows runs in safe mode, but the aspect ratio of my display is distorted; everything's really big and stretched horizontally, and my two displays are mirrored rather than extended. Running Windows perpetually in safe mode is not the ideal fix.
QUESTION 1: I understand that troubleshooting is supposedly done best in safe mode — What might I do in safe mode to diagnose the Thunderbird problem?
    FIX ATTEMPT 4:
This article https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Antivirus_Related_Performance_Issues#Symptoms, suggests that problems with Thunderbird associated with BitDefender can be solved by uninstalling and re-installing BitDefender.
Not really comfortable uninstalling and re-installing, I disabled Bitdefender (Settings button > Antivirus button > Shield tab > On-Access Scanning toggle Off) to see if that would work. It did not fix the problem.
QUESTION 2: Would uninstalling BitDefender be any different than disabling it?
    FIX ATTEMPT 5:
Create a Bitdefender Exclusion for the Thunderbird folder:
Settings button > Antivirus button > Exclusions tab > Excluded files and folders link > Add button > navigate to Thunderbird folder (c:\users\username\appdata\roaming\thunderbird) > Both radio button > Add button > OK button
THIS FIX DID THE TRICK! YAY!

FIX ATTEMPT #5 above did the trick, and now I see that it was the chosen solution for a similar post of the same problem at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1044774

  • Apps do not remember full screen mode

When I open a app, like Safari, and I go to full screen mode the app works great. When I'm done, I close the app and after a while I open it again. In my case it will open the app, but it will open in the "normal" mode, not the full screen mode. Anyone having troubles with this?

I don't have this problem.  Try this:
Open System Preferences > General Settings > Make sure the "Close windows..." checkbox is unticked.

  • Safari does not retain Full Screen state

    Yosemite: version 10.10 (14A389)
    Safari: version 8.0 (10600.1.25)
Safari does not retain Full Screen state when opening, or re-opening, quitting and restarting Safari, or rebooting the computer, even when the last state was in Full Screen.
Under Lion, this did not happen. Safari would always keep the last state used even after quitting, or rebooting the iMac.

navigate to your Users Library folder ( it is hidden , so use Finder's "go to folder" menu ) , then locate inside the Library folder "preferences", search for com.apple.safari and delete the plist you find for Safari.
then restart Safari and it should present all new Lion Options.

When I'm using Safari, ocasionally the menu bar just disappears. I'm running the latest version of Lion and the latest version of Safari. This is not a full screen app problem. I have multiple windows open. This happens all the time! Firefox is fine! What the ****? Please help!

Right, like I'm trying to say, THERE IS NO SAFARI MENU bar. Example: I have multiple applications open, I click on a Photoshop window, the correct menu or title bar or whatever changes. Every other application window I click on brings up the correct "whatever" bar. If I click on the desktop, the "Finder Bar" shows up.
Everythiing else, BUT SAFARI, works the same way since OS X came out.  This is ridiculous.
I'm getting the vibe that Apple is trying to get rid of the finder.... this is the way wrong direction.
