Static text in textfields renders differently when published in CS4/CS5

Hi
I am experiencing an issue where legacy files I created in Flash CS4 look different when published in CS5. Fonts are rendered differently. I have noticed it so far on DIN and Goudy Modern. The output when published in is CS5 is markedly different than the output when published in CS4.
Can anyone offer any pointers on how to think about, deal with, avoid etc.
Many thanks.
Mike
UPDATE
A little more logic to add.
It seems to be opening the file in CS5 changes the fonts somehow. CS4 files that I have not opened in CS5 publish as I would expect in CS4. CS4 files that I have opened in CS5 publish differently whether then published in CS5 or CS4. On Goudy for example. In CS5 adding .5 to the character spacing and 3.5 (not 2) to the line spacing makes the font render similarly in CS5 as it did in CS4 at 0 character spacing and 2 on the line height.

Yes. It's static. I recreated the text and now it works. Weird.
Thank you for your reply and time.

Nobody can tell you that. CS2 activation was turned off because of bugs in the software that made it too difficult to maintain. so far no such thing has been the case with the otehr versions. Either way, if and when that time comes surely Adobe will let you know and provide a solution...

  • Captivate 6 rendering issues when publishing flash only

    Hello,
I wanted to ask if anybody else is experiencing the same issue as I am experiencing when I publish my captivate 6 projects:
    Issue:
Project consists of 46 slides.  No advanced actions.  Multiple rollover images and text captions are on several slides. software capture
When publishing to a USB or my desktop then previewing I get rendering issues and these vary from parts of the software that I am capturing not appearing at all to my master slide templates disappearing.  Whenever this happens I try publishing to flash 10 and ctick the force republish of all slides - sometimes this fixes the problem sometimes it does not.  So I try publishing to flash 9 force republish of all slides sometimes this fixes the problem sometimes it does not.  It is just so hit and miss I have to publish 4 to 5 times before I finally am successful.  So of course this is extremely frustrating when I have to make changes to the project and republish.
Also notice that viewing in web browser has the same issue.
Think I am going to have to go back to captivate 5.5, which is such a shame as I really love some of the new features in 6.
Does anybody have any ideas as to why this may be happening?
I have attached two screen dumps - one where the screen is rendered poorly and the other where I have crossed all of my fingers and toes and republished and the screen has been rendered correctly:
    Thanks
    Ali

    Hello Sankaram,
I am experiencing the same problem as Ali, where my master slide randomly disappears in my published project. I tried the options you listed above. I also deselected "Use Master Slide Background" and "Project Background" on each slide.
Also, I have a button on each slide (next button to move through the slides) and sometimes disappears as well. However, I can still click in that region where it should be visible, and it will progress to the next slide.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jackie

  • Font is different when published

I published my site. I didn't like the bold look of some of the fonts so I changed the font and made a couple of other changes. The site then looked the way I wanted before re-publishing publishing.
I then re-published but the fonts are still look bold when I log on to the site. How can I correct this?

Some of those tips really helped - especially turning the text into a graphic - but how do you do it on blog summaries/Album names or on navigation titles? (put the 5% shadow on?). I love iweb but was very dissapointed with the fonts turning to bold versions. I have been a grpahic designer for years and am glad I could do web stuff because of iweb - so a small thing like it looking BOLD when published bummed me out! Anyone know how to edit/add shadow to the aforementioned elements? Thanks in advance....

  • Why do my fonts turn out different when published?

On one of my pages I have the font handwriting dakota and when I view it on the internet it is arial. What do I do?

Hi David - when publishing a website on the internet you need to use 'standard' web fonts.
This is because the fonts are not 'embedded' in your webpages - the people viewing your website need to have the same font(s) installed on their computer as the ones you have used in your website for it to appear the same. If you use a non-standard font (such as Dakota) they will more than likely not have it installed on their machine and will see a substitute font instead (e.g. Arial, or Times).
'Standard' fonts are those common fonts which come installed as part of the operating system, be it Mac OS or Windows, and the list is fairly limited. Here's a link to a handy page listing them.
If using a non-standard font is crucial to the design of your website, then you need firstly to save the text in your particular font as an image file e.g .gif or .jpg, and then insert that image into the layout of your page as necessary - this way anybody's web browser around the world is simply displaying an image file and it doesn't matter at all whether they have the font installed on their machine or not.
    Hope this helps?

  • Drop shadow on slideshow not rendering right when published

The drop shadow looks fine when applied while in muse but when previewed or published it does not.
The problem started after the February update. This is how it looks when published. Please help!!!!!

    NViereckel schrieb:
The only way I can make it go away is to save the file as an illustrator ai file and use that for pdfs. This would be OK, but other suppliers need to use the file and want eps format
EPS is simply unsuitable when dealing with transparency (which is what your drop shadow is). So you need to work with AI for placing in InDesign. If other suppliers need EPS, then just send them that. Nothing should keep you from exporting another file format.

  • Question - Y do my fonts look slightly different when publish site to .mac?

I've created a website on iWeb but when i publish it and view it in safari the fonts look slightly different. It's hard to explain but they basically just look worse. Can anyone let me know why this might be and how i could fix this problem. Thanks in advance.

Quit iWeb, go to Home Folder/Library/Preferences and delete the file com.apple.iWeb.plist.
Restart your Mac, launch iWeb and republish.
You should really convert any text done in "copperplate" to an image. Otherwise it will be converted to an (ugly) alternative on any computer that doesn't have this font installed.

  • IWeb site looks completely different when published compared to on iWeb...

For whatever reason, whenever I publish my website (I published it to a "local folder"), it looks completely different and VERY ugly.
This is what it looks like in iWeb right now:
    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y53/WWEFreak69/Screenshot2011-03-22at34527PM.pn g
This is what it looks like when it's published:
    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y53/WWEFreak69/Screenshot2011-03-22at33817PM.jp g
    There's an obvious difference.
So what am I doing wrong?

For one thing there are many files that did not get uploaded to the server.  You can see which by viewing your site in Safari and bringing up the Activity window (Command+Option+A).
The pages where the navbar is down the site appear to have much of the site's objects in the navbar section rather than the body of the page.  Go to the iWeb preferences and check the checkbox to show guides and image indicator.
The design link on the home page is inoperable.  Did you intend to have just the text be the link for the hyperlinks on that page or also the image that each text box is on?  Makes for a very small link to find.

  • Why do images brought into flash from a psd appear differently when publish

I am creating a flash banner using a layered psd.  The account team is happy with the look of the psd. BUT, when I bring the images into flash and publish the file, the colors look different.  I import them into flash at the highest quality yet they don't look the same.  Any advice?

The answer relates to color spaces (profiles) and color management in Flash.
In the other creative suite applications you work with a color space to define the colors your using—i.e., if you have #ff0000 full red this will be a different color in sRGB (an RGB color space) than Adobe 1998 (a different RGB color space). You need to have a color space (profile) to make sense of the color values.
Flash doesn't honor profiles currently, which means it ignores these profiles. By default in Flash Player 10, and the only option in all players before 10, it gives these color numbers to the operating system without a color space, so the operating system is in charge of making sense of these numbers. In Windows it will assume these numbers are in the sRGB color space, on Mac it will assume that these numbers are in the monitor's color space (on my macbook this is Color LCD, which I believe is the color space for all macbooks by default).
The way to get the colors to look the best in Flash is to make sure that the document is sRGB before you bring it into Flash. In Photoshop you can convert the colors into the sRGB color space, which will change these color values into the sRGB color space, by going to Edit -> Convert to Profile, and find sRGB in the RGB dropdown. Another way to do it if you are saving just a flat image is to use File -> Save For Web & Devices and check the Convert to sRGB checkbox on the right. Now when you bring the image in to Flash and publish it it should look right on Windows, and probably better on Mac.
Flash Player 10 adds a feature where you can say that all the images are in the sRGB color space and it will hand the color values to the operating system as sRGB numbers. This makes it work better on Mac, if the swf file is viewed in an environment that honors profiles (Mac and Windows honor profiles but most browsers still ignore profiles, but that's getting better). You can turn this feature on by putting this code into your Flash file: stage.colorCorrection = ColorCorrection.ON;. Read more on that at this link: http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2008/10/get_better_color_through_fp10.html. I also gave a presentation on color management and blogged about it, which you can read about and watch here: http://blog.elliselkins.com/2009/02/flying-through-color-space-uflash.html.
Feel free to ask me anything. Hope this helps.

  • Page formatting looks ok in iweb put looks different when published

    Hi
I just got a new MAC Book Pro, and am still using the iweb o8. Today I made a web page that looked very much like a resume...indents , bullets, alignment. it looks great on the screen in iweb...but when I publish it and access through safari...all of the indents etc are gone or changed. Any clue what I am doing wrong? Thanks for any suggestions

No I haven't tried that but I will try it later tonight. Should I do it in word and then convert that doc to a pdf and then use that. The reason I ask is that I did turn the iweb page into a pdf because I wanted to proof it in paper form (old fashioned, I guess)...and when I printed the pdf document is was huge..
or maybe it looks small on iweb and in the actual web page and the pdf is normal size I was using 14pt type so it was readable on iweb...but when I printed the pdf it didn't fit on a page width wise, and the printed copy looked like 14 pt type....but the iweb page looked about 10 pt.
anyway I will try your suggestion and let you know
I tried to take screen shot...to show the misalignment of the text....but I couldn't get the screen shot into this screen.

  • Background image displays differently when published

I am using Captivate 5. I did a software simulation  and in Captivate the background image is correct (the one on the left) but when i preview it or publish it and view in the browser the colors are off (second image) ..I tried to play around with the brightness/sharpness but it did nothing dramatic...any suggestions?
    Hi,

    Hi there
Generally speaking, Optimized ofen works well too. I'm unsure of the file size differences (if any) between the two settings. Because the image quality improves it would be logical to assume that the file size will increase.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Continue / Retake Quiz buttons act differently when Publishing in SWF vs SWF/HTML5

Hi, I use Captivate 7 and when I compare what I publish as SWF/HTML5 with SWF only it seems that there are 2 issues with the SWF/HTML5  site on Chrome (also on Safari)
    Issue 1
I have 1 quiz on a course and I have set the Quiz setting to require a Pass to continue. I put the "Retake" Quiz button over the "Continue" button so it covers the continue if the person fails and will show the continue button only if the person passes. (I had also changed the Caption on the Continue button to say Print Certificate)
This works when I publish the course as SWF only. When I publish as SWF/HTML5 and view on Chrome/Safari then when the person fail it seems that the "continue" button still shows and makes the "retake quiz button" transparent or behind the continue button. If the person passes then it works fine.
    Issue 2
In the same example if click the "continue" button several time it the website continues even though the person had failed
Not sure if anyone has found this an issue or has a better way for not making the Continue button to appear if the person has failed.
My objective was that there was a Certificate document after the quiz and if the person passes then they can go get the Certificate. If they fail then they cannot go tto the next slide to get the certificate. Maybe there is a better way to do this ?
    thanks
    Hatim

OMG, just checked it out and you are right: the Review button appears always on top of the Retake button. Please, log a bug report, will do as well. This is really very annoying because the terminology can be confusing,
For SWF I found a workaround: change the stacking order in the Results Master slide, send the Review button Back. That seems to work. But for HTML5-output, no way... Review is always on top of Retake. I also played with unchecking, and rechecking but cannot find a solution.

  • Captivate 6 not rendering video when publishing

Hello, I am very-brand new to captivate - as in, I've been using Captivate for around 36 hours..  I was given this project on Friday and asked to have it finished by Monday.  After about 14 hours of pulling hair I think I've finally got the training finished, but when I hit publish only the slides that do not contain video show up.  The whole thing plays when I preview within the software, but as soon as I export it goes away.
I'm running windows 7, my poor laptop is around 5 years old, and I'm using Captivate 6.
I swear I'm not crying as I type this.

    Hi ,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums,
Could you please check the exact version of Adobe Captivate (Go to Help > About Adobe Captivate) ?
Go to Edit > Preferences > SWF Size and Quality and uncheck both the options which says Advanced project compression and Compress SWF file ,
Save the project after the changes and republish the project with a new name and save it to the desktop .
After publishing make sure that you check the output by viewing .htm file not the .swf.
    Thanks

  • Adding image to page results in permissions error, etc. when publishing in CS4

I manage dozens of sites on the same server, all managed with Contribute CS4. One such site had to be rebuilt. But now, when I add an image to a page from my computer and try to publish, it gives the following error:
Access denied. The file may not exist or there may be a permission problem.
Then, once the page returns to editing mode (since I didn't successfully Publish), the image I tried to add shows up in the Drafts Console (top left) as a separate document. When I click on it in the Drafts Console, it says:
    Editing Draft in Another Application.
Strangely enough, the images are being successfully saved to the server, to an /images folder that has permission set to 777.
Still, though, Contribute won't let me add images, even directly from the server ("from website").
Does anyone have any idea what's happening? I've rebuilt the site several time, even using the original files (which worked well for years).
    Thanks,
    Greg

Note that when the images appear in the Drafts Console, and I click on them in order to delete them, Contribute asks me:
Are you sure you want to permanently delete your new page?
Why would it be calling an image a "page?"
    And further, it says:
You are currently editing this page in .
I'm assuming that space before the period is where it would normally list the application used for editing. Something's definitely off here.
And it's not just my version of Contribute. Another editor (on another computer on another network) is also experiencing the same errors.

  • [JS] Items on page vs pasteboard move differently in CS3 vs CS4/CS5

I'm trying to move all the items on all the pages in a document (including the master pages), regardless of what layer they are on and I want to retain their locked/unlocked states. In trying to figure this out I came across Adobe's AdjustLayout Sample script. This was quite helpful and I adapted it to move all the items a specified amount (the modified script is shown below). There may be a better way, but this was pretty much working.
    Except one problem:
    - In CS4 and later all items move, those on or off the page (in the pasteboard).
    - In CS3 though, only the items on a page move, and NOT the ones on the pasteboard (which I do also want to move).
I have searched this forum and read a lot, but still haven't figured out how to get CS3 to also move the pasteboard items. Can anyone help? Below is the script I adapted, but I am open to other ways if there's something better. I used this because it seemed close to what I was looking for.
    Thanks, in advance.

    No.
You'll need to loop through all pageItems and move them individually (checking if they're locked as you go...)
