Static vs Dynamic difference when viewing in Acrobat 9
With ES2 or ES4, saving output as a static pdf results in the following when previewing and when viewing in Acrobat 9.4.5:
When viewing in Reader X or XI, or when saving as a dynamic pdf and viewing in Acrobat 9.4.5, the output is as expected:
One obvious solution is to upgrade everyone to Acrobat X+, but that's not an option for the enterprise. Is there scripting I could add or a registry fix or some other alternative to hiding these annotation sequence numbers (or whatever they're referred to) in the static pdf, as the EDMS delivering this pdf to the end-users cannot currently handle XFA-enabled PDFs and so it must be static?
My suspicion is this is more of an Acrobat 9.4.5 issue than an LC issue, but I have researched extensively and cannot find a resolution.
The "annotation sequence numbers" are probably referring to the "Tab Order". You can access and modify the "Tab Order" from Designer; Go to the "Window" option and click on "Tab Order". For ES4 it's between "Data View" and "Object Library". Under "Tab Order", there's a button that should either be displayed as "Show Order" or "Hide Order". Clicking on that button will toggle between the two choices. I am assuming that if you click to make it "Hide Order" that your numbers will disappear.

Why do images within a PDF look jagged when viewed in Acrobat Pro 10.1.6?
Using a MacBook Pro running Mac OS version 10.7.5 with NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB graphics card. High-resolution source images look fine in other software, and embedded images in a PDF look fine when viewed on Google Drive, but curves and diagonal lines look jagged when viewed in Acrobat Pro 10.1.6. Checking smoothing options in Preferences only adjusts the position of the jagged edges; it neither enhances nor ameliorates them.
I created a sample PDF to illustrate the problem I'm having. Created in illustrator, exported to PNG and converted to PDF. Here is a screenshot of the source PNG side-by-side with the PDF I created from it:
Please note that when I preview the PDF in Finder, and when I view the PDF in Chrome using Google Drive, the image looks fine. Here's a link to the sample PDF:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/77f5m6
Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks!Unfortunately, as I mentioned in my original post, I've already tried toggling smoothing options. They don't make the jagged edges go away—they just change them slightly. In some cases, as with the sample file provided, it does help smooth the art out, but it never looks as good as it did going in, in a recent project, toggling smoothing options didn't affect the appearance of the image at all. Zoom does not appear to relieve the artifacting.
A little clarification: this PDF was created from a flat PNG, but I have had this issue with PNGs and TIFFs as well, generated by both Photoshop and Illustrator. To reiterate, the PDFs display fine in other software—Finder preview looks great, and the same file viewed in my browser via Google Drive looks as intended as well. A colleague was able to replicate this issue in Acrobat on his Windows machine. This appears to be a rendering issue specific to Acrobat with regards to the files I use it to create. -
What causes areas to be grayed out when viewing in Acrobat 9?
What causes text to be grayed out when viewing in Acrobat 9?
Douments which were fine in Acrobat 9 suddenly have areas blacked or grayed out. The same thing happens if opened in Acrobet Reader. Is there a setting that causes this.It could be that the text is an image.
Try going to Edit>Preferences>Page display>Page content and information and check the box hat says "Display large images". -
Texts in pdf form don't appear when viewing in Acrobat nor in Reader.
Texts in pdf form don't appear when viewing in Acrobat nor in Reader nor when printed after the form has been filled. But the texts appear when one clicks inside the field. What is the solution to be able to print and view all of the texts in all of the fields that have been typed.
More than likely caused by someone filling out the form with Mac Preview.
Here's a potential fix: http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/885/cpsid_88564.html -
How to hide watermark when viewing in acrobat 8 standard
Hi,
2 of my colleagues (also having same versions of acrobat) manage to open a pdf file without the watermark showing.
I have been googling around and found that there is an option to set.
To specify when the watermark appears, select or deselect Show When Printing and Show When Displaying On Screen.
But i couldn't find the option on my PC(windows xp). I would like to know how to hide the watermark when viewing in acrobat 8.?
Thanks,Thank you, i understand now.
so in that case, why does my 2 colleagues can view the pdf file with the watermarks hidden. While for me, i can see the watermark when i view the same file?
appreciate your clarification. -
Difference when viewing PDF render with /workspace-server/ and /DocumentManager/
Hi all,
There are 2 scenarios when viewing file in attachment:
1) When user is processing the form, they view the attachment in attachment tab. The url's format is: https://mydomain/workspace-server/documents/-6195445997301787088-16.pdf
2) My client's requirement is to view files in attachment tab even after the process is complete.
What i have done is to write a custom java component, retrieve attachment of the last task and return to user.
The url has format: https://mydomain/DocumentManager/docm1266831910962/53650adc3948bd502cf8c81d4885feec?type=Y XBwbGljYXRpb24vb2N0ZXQtc3RyZWFt
(I also found that the file is generated under GDS folder)
In both of the cases, navigateToURL() function is used to view the pdf in new window.
My trouble starts from here. In several client's machine, case 2 always ask them to save the form instead of viewing in the browser, while case 1 always can be viewable.
Below is the image of case 2 when i click in the link:
The strange thing is in local environment, both cases are working ...
Is there any idea why it happen?
My client is using windows xp, IE 6 and adobe reader 9. Some of them are using windows vista, IE 7 and adobe reader 9.
In local environment, we have tested successfully with
1)
Window XP
IE6/IE7/FireFox/Google Chrome
Adobe reader 9
2)
Window vista
IE7
Adobe reader 9
Regards,
AnhYou are confusing me
But first, the setContentTypeFromBasename() is an ES2 addition to the Document class. Didn't realize this was a pre-ES2 case. Sorry about that.
Next, you say you are removing the ?type=ASDFASDFASDF from the url on the client. This must be there so the DocumentManager servlet can set the proper content-type in the http response. I looked at the code and if it isn't there, no content type is set so it will be browser and os dependent on what it will do,although i would expect most to prompt.
And however your custom component and the short lived process work, that document output variable needs to have the proper content-type set in it (the Document has a setContentType() method in 8.2 but you will have to do the mapping from file extension to mime-type yourself in 8.2). If it does and you don't remove the type parm from the url, then things will work. But if that type parm isn't there or the content-type isn't set in the document output var, the browser will not know which application/plugin to launch and will prompt.

Document Language not exported into PDF when viewed in Acrobat Pro 9?
I've been working on making our PDFs accessible, but it looks like the LiveCycle-generated forms are causing some issues. While I can set the Form Locale in LiveCycle ES (8.2.1), generating a PDF from this and viewing it in Acrobat Pro 9 leaves the Reading Language field greyed out. I'm new to LiveCycle, so it might be something simple (but I've tried Googling everything).
I've tried saving it as both a Static PDF and Dynamic XML PDF form without luck. The Generate Accessibility Information Save Option is checked. I am doing a Save As rather than in-app generation (I understand this can be the cause of some issues).
Help!?Unfortunately, as I mentioned in my original post, I've already tried toggling smoothing options. They don't make the jagged edges go away—they just change them slightly. In some cases, as with the sample file provided, it does help smooth the art out, but it never looks as good as it did going in, in a recent project, toggling smoothing options didn't affect the appearance of the image at all. Credit Management: Difference Between Static and Dynamic Credit Check
Hi,
Could anyone tell the difference Between Static and Dynamic Credit Check?
According to website: http://www.sap-basis-abap.com/sd/difference-between-static-and-dynamic-credit-check.htm ... this is the answer:
====================
Simple Credit Check : Tr.Code - FD32
It Considers the Doc.Value + Open Items.
Doc.Value : Sales Order Has been saved but not delivered
Open Item : Sales Order has been saved , Delivered, Billed & Transfered to FI, but not received the payment from the customer.
Static Credit Check it checks all these doc value & check with the credit limit
1) Open Doc.Value / Sales Order Value : Which is save but not delievered
2) Open Delivery Doc.Value : Which is delivered but not billed
3) Open Billing Doc.Value : Which is billed but not posted to FI
4) Open Item : Which is transfered to FI but not received from the customer.
Dynamic Credit Check 1) Open Doc
2) Open Delivery
3) Open Billing
4) Open Items
5) Horizon Period = Eg.3Months
Here the System will not consider the above 1, 2, 3 & 4 values for the lost 3 months.
====================
Question 1: Could you further explain the above information, if there is any?
Question 2:: What is the Tcode to customize settings of:
a) Simple Credit Check (isn't this same with b) below?)
b) Static Credit Check
c) Dynamic Credit CheckHi Tanish,
Diff between Static and Dynamic Filters.
Example One at report Level.
Create a variable for a Infoobject say ,Material .
1)In the Query Designer and if u restrict it to some 10 materials at query level, the report will display for only those 10 materials only. This is Static Filter.UR AHrdcoding it to those materials. You cant change them at Query Run time.i.e not changeable by user.
2)If u give the variable as input ,and when u run the query ,u can can choose the material, may 10 may be 1 or may 20 .It is dynamic.Changeable by user at run time
Example Two at DTP and Start Routine Level, say Document Type.
1)If u give filters in Start routine it is Static as u cannot change it in Production, not changeable by user.
2)f u give filters in DTP it is Dyanamic as u can change it in Production.U can give any doc type,Changeable by user at run time.
Hope it is Understood.

Acrobat X: Option to hide the dotted line in between pages when viewing in 2 page view?
Acrobat X: Anyone know if there is an option to hide the dotted line in between pages when viewing in 2 page view? So that the 2 pages can look seemlessly joined, with no gap and no dotted line? This would be useful when viewing PDF magazines or books in which 2 pages join for a larger picture.
Create a Page 0 item which will be available on all pages.OMG yes I can use items in page 0 ! I should have think of that :/ Shame on me.
Application item values can be set from JavaScript using AJAX and an On-Demand Process.Yes I already tried ajax with ODP, my getappitem() function works but my setappitem() function won't assign value to application item, but it's not a problem now, I removed the ajax part and I will use page items :D
Thank you fac586.

Forms created in Acrobat Pro XL do not display data when viewed on iPads
I have a simple form that when completed and saved as an Acrobat Pro XL document and then emailed to customers, do not display the field contents of the form when viewed on iPads. So the customers just see a blank form. I have tried to use Optimize for Web and Moblie to solve this, but it appears that many times, since the iPads are so prevalent, that people can;t see the full content of the form that I send. Is there a solution for this?
When your customers opened the PDF form (which was as an email attachment) on iPads, it is highly likely that Apple Mail (not Adobe Reader for iOS) was displaying the preview of the PDF form. Please note that Apple products on iPad/iPhone (e.g. Apple Mail, iBooks, Safari) do not render field contents or annotations (sticky notes, highlight, underline, strikeout, freehand drawing, etc.) in PDF documents.
The Mail sections of the following FAQ documents describe how to open PDF attachments in Adobe Reader for iOS.
For iPad, see How to get PDF documents into Adobe Reader for iOS (iPad on iOS 7 version)
For iPhone, see How to open PDF documents in Adobe Reader for iOS (iPhone on iOS 7 version)

Acrobat X Pro: Configuration error when viewing pdfs
Hi all,
A colleague is having problems viewing pdfs in Acrobat X Pro. After a fresh install, things are fine for a while, then after some random time, when he opens a pdf, he can view the pdf for a few seconds, then the following error pops up and and Acrobat stops working.
Configuration error
Please uninstall and reinstall the product.
If this problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.
Error: 6
http://www.abobe.com/support/
Anyone have any ideas what's causing this and how to resolve?
Thanks,
Amber
Update: version is 10.1.0
Also, the error occurs when just opening Acrobat, without opening a pdf at the same time.I have exactly the same problem with Acrobat X Standard. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software - no success. I chatted with a Adobe supporter @ USA for 30 minutes - when he realized that I'm running a German Windows 7, he declared himself as not competent - quite weak. The German support answered with "Adobe doesn't support OEM products" (Acrobat came preinstalled by DELL). The DELL support declared it a Adobe problem - which seems correct to me. Classic catch 22.

Difference between Firefox and Safari when viewing iWeb created content.
Greeting Mac fans,
I've noticed that my iWeb pages load 2-3 times faster when viewed in Firefox than Safari. I find this a little suprising.
Also, my hit counter shows when the page is displayed in Firefox, but not in Safari.
Any ideas?
All content was created using iWeb and is hosted at my dotmac account. I have a domain name and I'm also using "masked URL fowarding"
Peace
super_tee
Emac 1.25ghz Mac OS X (10.4.8) Packed to the eyeballs with goodies....There are two things that I think are at play
here...
First, the difference in loading times between
FireFox and Safari.... I haven't noticed that huge of
a difference myself, but what I have noticed is that
FireFox is much faster at pulling up cached
material....or maybe figuring out whether to pull
from cache vs. anew. I've noticed that FireFox also
hangs on to cached material more tenaciously than
Safari, meaning that sometimes I have to go in and
empty FireFox's cache in order to see something
update...I have to do this much more often in FireFox
than Safari.
Second, about your counters. If you turn your
masking off from your domain forwarding, you .Mac
counters will be visible to all. Using masking will
make them invisible to certain browsers under certain
conditions.
James, I guess I should download and use Firefox, but remember feeling burned the last time I did. I downloaded it, and soon after, things went awry with my computer. I am hoping that the were unrelated events, since Leo Laporte, the KFI techie guru, also recommends using Firefox for various reasons. He says that it is very safe because, basically, it is "dumb" (his words). But he meant that it's lack of bells and whistles made it go very fast, and made it avoid all the problems of Internet Explorer.

TIFF & JPEG renders of RAW files appear different when viewed in Bridge
I am working with the demo of Photoshop CS6, with ACR 7.1. CS6 System Info will appear at the bottom of this post. Summary: AMD Phenom II x6 1090T, 16GB RAM, Win7-64bit, nVidia GTX 460 video w/1GB RAM, approx. 2.5 TB free space on multiple internal physical drives, Canon 50D, CR2 files. I have a camera profile generated through Profile Editor, and the monitor is calibrated with i-1 Match.
I have been practicing with the new Basic Panel controls (Process 2012). When I felt that I was getting the hang of them I started saving JPEG and TIFF files and noticed differences between what appears in Bridge and ACR. I worked on this for some time and searched out some other discussions in the Forum which seemed to talk about similar results. I have now tried Image Processor via Bridge, Save Image in ACR, and Open>Save manually in PS CS6. By whatever route, the TIFFs and JPEGs are different (lighter in the following examples, but this is not always the case), while PSD saves seem to be close, but not identical to the CR2 when viewed in Bridge or Photoshop. Here is a screen capture of Bridge thumbnails which show the differences.
I hope the labels come through legibly. The two images on the second row are CR2 and PSD respectively. What is really odd to me is that when I resaved the PSD file as a TIFF, the same sort of difference shows up in the TIFF. (See _MG_7960_via_PSD.tif above.) I have uploaded the CR2, its XMP, a TIFF and a JPEG on Sendspace (107 MB). I did this earlier in my experiments and regret that the file naming is not as informative as might be.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/t0lhko
I have run a few other ACR adjusted CR2 images through Image Processor and seen a variety of differences between the rendered files and the RAW versions. The differences seem to be in Exposure and Contrast. Most of these looked somewhat darker, unlike the examples above.
I will happily provide any other information on request. Thanks!

Thanks again,
Kieren
EDIT: Bingo! I took Auto Tone off in ACR Preferences (in Bridge) and the non-RAW files immediately regenerated thumbs and previews. They now are indistinguishable from the PSD. There is still the very slight difference which I mentioned between the PSD and the CR2. While that seems odd, it is small enough to be relatively trivial.
Many thanks!

Does anybody know why type might render strangely when viewing a PDF in Chrome, Firefox and IE?
I have a client who I create a report for every year. This year there seems to be a problem with the PDFs that I have exported when they are viewed in various web browsers. To elaborate, the type is rendering inconsistently – in Chrome the weight of the type is inconsistent (ranging from light to something more heavy) and in IE the type appears more condensed, and the x-height is variable.
To my knowledge Chrome, Firefox and IE are all affected in one way or another. The problem does not occur in Safari.
We always use Helvetica Neue and have never had problems like this before. I am using the same version of Helvetica Neue as I always use, but even when I change the font to Helvetica the problem still persists.
On a deadline so would appreciate some support here. Box of beer to the person who can provide me with a working solution!
Thanks kindly
Simon WinterHello Ellis. Thanks for your efforts in helping narrow down this issue, and for offering workarounds for Simon. Here are the steps I sent to Simon, enhanced by the info you provided above:
1. I typed some text in Id CC 2014.0 (Mac OS 10.9.4) using the system font Helvetica Neue Light at 12 pt. All defaults were on, including ligatures.
1.a. I used the text in Simon's example, “An Annual Report marks the end of a year’s work, but it is also an opportunity to reflect on the principles that” and reduced the text frame width so that it wrapped across 4 lines.
1.b. I also tried creating an all-page text frame and filling it with placeholder text (same font, same point size).
2. Export > Interactive PDF (or Static PDF: doesn’t make a difference), using all the default PDF export settings.
3. View resulting PDF in the latest Chrome (36.0.1985.143) on that same Mac, or on Windows, at various zoom levels, on a retina display as well as on a lower-dpi monitor. It looks fine to me: all words and lines have the same even "color" or weight.
In all cases, the fonts embedded in the PDF were listed as:
HelveticaNeue-Light (Embedded Subset)
Type: TrueType
Encoding: Ansi
HelveticaNeue-Light (Embedded Subset)
Type: TrueType (CID)
Encoding: Identity-H
If you follow the above steps, can you repro the problem? -
Static Vs Dynamic Safety stock
Hello Gurus
I want to know the following
1. Whats a Dynamic Safety Stock ?
2. The basic difference between Static Vs Dynamic Safety Stock
3.In which business scenario do we use a Dynamic & in which cases Static safety stock -Dear Raja,
There are two types of availability checks
1) Availability Check for stock types in Inventory Management (Static Availability Check):
This check takes only the existing stock at the time of entry into account. This check is carried out automatically & no setting can be made for it in the system .It covers the relevant stock affected at the plant, storage location & special stocks level. The stock affected is determined via the movement type.
Ex: If you enter transfer posting with mvt 321 for 20 nos from Quality to unrestricted the system checks whether 20 nos.are actually available in Quality stock
2) Check of available stocks from the view point of MRP (Dynamic availability check):
In this case in addition to stock physically available in warehouse, here planned receipt & issues can also be taken into account. This check enables you to prevent an already reserved quantity from being withdrawn or reserved for another purpose.
For Ex; Today we have a stock of 100 nos. 25 pieces are reserved for withdrawal tomorrow & another 25 nos are reserved for day after tomorrow which means only 50 pieces are available today. If you try to create another reservation of 60 nos today system will give warning or error message.
Hope this will clear your concept
Vivek
