SteelSeries Siberia V2 MSI Dragoon Army Edition - Member Unboxing and Review

Hello guys,
So I finally received the SteelSeries Siberia V2 MSI Dragoon Army Edition I won from the forum event. I did some unboxing photos and a short review as well. Hope you guys like it.
Front of the box. It is totally different from the ordinary Siberia V2 sold in stores. This particular headset goes along with some variants of MSI Gaming Laptops.
Side of the box.
Top of the box.
Back of the box.
The headset. It is surprisingly lightweight and the headband really hugs your head firmly. It feels very comfortable compared to my other headset which is a Roccat Kave 5.1. It feels secured and I doubt it would fall or budge during intense gaming. Audio quality is superb! The highs are very crisp. Now I know why this headset is really popular. It is not just stylish and cool, the performance and superb audio quality plus the lightweight material is really a winning formula. Good job SteelSeries! Perfect match for an equally superb gaming laptop from MSI.
Volume rocker and microphone mute button
Two 3.5mm jacks. One for audio and one for the microphone. There's an engraved steelseries logo in the rubber joint the connects the two jacks.
Right side of the headset. There's a MSI Dragoon Army logo in the mesh part of the headset and a SteelSeries logo in the frame.
The retractable microphone of the headset.
Left side of the headset also have the MSI Dragoon Army logo on the mesh but also on the frame instead of the SteelSeries branding.
The headband hold the MSI notebook branding.
There's also a MSI Dragoon Army design inside the muffs.
Included in the package is a 2-meter cable extension just the other Siberia V2 headsets.
A tiny product guide.
Last item included in the package is a SteelSeries sticker.
Again, I thank MSI for the awesome event and for the readers as well.
:D

Thanks guys!
Words cannot explain how surprised I was about the headset. The weight is just totally surprising! It's the lightest full sized headset I used so far. I was listening to music for 2 hours last night and it felt totally comfortable. Heavy full sized headsets tend to be hot in the ears after long hours of wearing and the leather muffs are also warm... you get this hot sensation after wearing one for a long time... the siberia v2 doesn't since it's really lightweight and I think it is somehow ventilated through the mesh... I am not sure but it does help a lot

  • 17.3" high performance gaming NB - Limited MSI GT70 Dragon Edition

In recent 2 years, MSI did not focus on the Ultrabook series as many other brands, they mainly focused on high performance of Gaming series Notebooks,
that makes MSI to become a well known gaming products company in the market, also shows how important of the Gaming related market.
MSI Gaming, Dell Alienware and ASUS ROG are the top 3 of the gaming laptop products in the gaming laptop market,
that's the well known brands in the gaming laptop market. The higher product position comes with much higher price range.
MSI extend their Gaming series become more price range segments, GT series on the top, GX series based on AMD platform,
and GE series focus on the performance level market with better Cost/Value, so that more consumer could consider their GE series with better price range.
This time we would like to share the latest version of MSI GT70 - The GT70 Dragon Edition.
The GT70 Dragon Edition totally changed with their box design, make it slimmer and with better looks of their dragon logo to impressed gamers and power users.
The ID design of GT70 Dragon Edition.
Compare with their regular GT70, the GT70 Dragon Edition use red metallic cover design with the Dragon Tattoo on it,
that makes GT70 more gaming style and high performance looks.
The metallic cover with normal light will be deep red, but the metal will reflect light of the color with different angle,
so the color of the red will be lighter when outdoor with sunshine.

34~38℃ when idle mode. (Cooler Boost on)
Run the InteBurn Test to make CPU with full loading - 73~86℃(Cooler Boost off)
Run the InteBurn Test to make CPU with full loading - 72~77℃(Cooler Boost on)
We use idle mode and full loading test to compare the Cooler Boost fan function to check difference.
The temperature difference of Cooler Boost on and off, it's about 2 degree when idle,
and biggest gap is 11 degree when CPU is full loading burning test, so the Cooler Boost really helps when users need it.
Besides the fan performance, about the noise of the cooler, it's not easy to hear the fan noise if Cooler Boost is off, and Cooler Boost will make the noise louder for sure.
But the noise is not high frequency that makes people uncomfortable, if you listen to the music or play games with Dynauido sound system, you will not hear the noise even you turn on the Cooler Boost.
Many notebooks with Dual Core will be 40℃ more when idle mode, and full loading will be 80~90 degree.
So the temperature of GT70 with Core i7 and GTX675MX is really well controlled, MSI did have good design skill on the thermal solution with small space inside the notebook.
Conclusion of MSI GT70 Dragon Edition:
    Pros:
    1. Dragon Edition makes the chasses with special coating with Dragon Tattoo, also improve the packing a lot. Upgraded hardware on GTX675MX and Killer Double Shot.
    2. Dual mSATA3 SSD and 2.5 inch 750GB HDD makes great balance of performance and capacity. 4xDDR3 DIMM with good extend of the RAM size.
    3. Rich on IO interface, 3 USB3.0 and 2 USB2.0, with HDMI, D-Sub and eSATA as well.
    4. Full size keyboard by Steelseries with back light, add on Turbo, Cooler Boost to boost up GPU and fan performance.
    5. Special 2 channel with 1 subwoofer design with Sound by Dynaudio system, the sound quality even better than previous version of GT70.
    6. Built in 1920x1080 Full HD matted display, that will makes your eyes more comfortable when gaming or watching movies.
    7. Latest Killer Double Shot function, the LAN is faster and WiFi comes with 2x2 and 2.4GHz/5GHz dual band design.
    Cons:
    1. SSD will be better if use the Micron or Marvell control chip.
    2. Maybe IPS panel is more expensive, but still expect the GT70 could option with IPS panel in the future.
    3. The NVIDIA graphics driver still need to improve on Windows 8 system, some 3D benchmark or games still can't get good performance on GTX675MX with full speed.
    4. Recommend to use Creative Sound Core3D quad core sound chipset.

    please guide me .
in nvidia control panel it shows the laptop display is connected to the intel HD4000 how do i move it to nvidia.
    regards ,
    rob
What exactly do you mean? Like when you want to play a game? You need to open up the NVidia control panels, go to "Manage 3D Settings", and then in the right most pane, click on the "Program Settings" tab. In there, you need to add each game/program you want to use the NVidia adapter with when it runs. This allows you to only use the NVidia adapter when you're running programs that require that graphics card. Very neat, and cool feature.

  • MSI GT70 Dragon Edition Nvidia Problem

First of all my first languages is'nt English if you can understand I would be gratefull.
I use MSI GT70 Dragon Edition with Ge force GTX 675 MX but Windows 8 doesn't recognise my graphic card. When I click the dxdiag I see Intel Graphic Cards.

Quote from: darkhawk on 14-January-13, 00:09:48
Yeah, ignore dxdiag and put a real 3D game in and see if it switches, thats the real test.
Wow am I late to the party. However I also fear that my GTX780M is not actually functioning in games with my GT70. How do I know for certain that it is "switching" from the Intel HD graphics. My distrust comes from the fact the in advanced tab under screen resolution (Windows 8) it always displays the Intel Graphics. The Nvidia card is listed as working in the device manager however. All of my power setting are set to gaming/high performance and in the Nvidia settings I have the GTX 780M set to global. Thanks is anyone can provide feedback.

  • PC suddenly restarts while playing games MSI 660Ti Power Edition OC 2GB

    Hi,
I have the following problem since I replaced my graphics card (before 9800GTX+, now MSI 660Ti Power Edition 2GB) I got 3 random restarts while playing games. The computer is not overheating, the CPU's temperature is around 58-59 degrees after running prime95 for 3 hours. The graphics card temperature is 70 degrees after running furmark for 1 hour, the stress tests never failed, just when running games. The computer has been stable. For case cooling im using (2X12cm front, rear 1X14cm below 1X12cm and above 1X12cm +1 X14cm).
I got two random system restarts while playing Doom 3 BFG and one system restart after playing Wolfenstein for 4 hours. The PC just restarts itself.
What could be wrong? I have no more ideas? Should I replace the CPU cooler (im running the stock CPU cooler but all stress tests dont show overheating?!)
Is it possible that the PSU is the reason, but it should be strong enough ...
    The system:
    GA 870A-UD3
AMD Phenom II 1090T (cooler box)
MSI GeForce 660Ti Power Edition OC 2GB
    12GB RAM (12GB Kit 3X4GB DDR3 Kingston Genesis 1600)
    Samsung 256GB 840pro
    WD Blue 500GB
    Thermaltake Thoughpower Q-Fan 750W PSU
    Housing NZXT Source 210 Elite
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
    Thank you.

The temps for the graphics card are quite normal. I have the same one and under load it will go to 70 to 75C, depending on ambient. What Nvidia driver are you using? Did you do a new driver installation?
If I look at your CPU though, then you are very close to the max CPU temp and throttling may invoke the shutdown    http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCPUDetail.aspx?id=640&f1=&f2=&f3=&f4=&f5=&f6=&f7=&f8=&f9=&f10=&f11=&f12=
    62C is max.
Could also be your PSU that's not completely stable and continuous power draw may cause Overcurrent or overtemp protection. Speculating here as to probable causes.
Another possibility is your RAM. That should normally be paired in 2's. Have you tested with only 2 modules ? Remember we don't support that MB here, but its just another test I would run. But you would know, probably having run it like that with the previous GPU.

  • MSI 670 POWER EDITION SLI HELP!

Okay so i recently bought another MSI 670 Power Edition card. I loved my original and wanted a bit of a performance boost.
    I run a MSI Z68 GD80 G3 mobo with i7 2600K. 16GB of Corsair Vengeance memory.
So after a few days of testing i get about 10-20fps increase in certain games. Now after comparing my PC to other Computers with similar specs and my cards are faster than theres.
I am not getting that much of an improvement as i should.
On unigine Valley "Everything max at 1920x1080" i get a score of 2333 thats with both cards. To me that seems rather low or am i being silly. Also i was watching a video of a guy running the Metro Last Light benchmark and he was hitting over double what i had in terms of FPS.
Then i read that it could be because i have a sandy bridge and it doesn't utilize PCI.E 3 correctly. Any help would be awesome THANKS :D

As flobelix stated before, you are limited to PCI-E 2.0 because of your Sandy CPU.
Talking about bandwidth, SLI with PCI-E 2.0 x8-x8 is the equivalent of PCI-E 3.0 x4-x4.
Not very good, but not very bad either.

Tomb Raider Tress FX off everything Ultra average FPS 36.3 - Single GPU original
    Your scores are ok.
With a better CPU (i7 3770K), the scores are around 2200 (single) and 3000 (SLI).
Those with higher scores have overclocked GPUs (and CPUs).
Tomb Raider is one of those few games with great SLI scaling (most of the games are not).
As you can see, you get a 70-75% boost in this game.

It's not low, as you can see the most people with the same card has the same scores and they are into the same big graph as you

i bought msi 7750 power edition. it's idle temp remains constant at 39` and while playing games like darksiders, temp reaches 79` even with moderate or low settings. the fan on such temp reaches max speed .. 99% and makes it really noisy. is the temp normal or is there any defect wid my piece ? .. Please Reply

Temp is absolutely normal under load. Anything below 9ß°C is nothing to worry. Try using Afterburner (>>How to use MSI Afterburner<<) and start Kombustor out of it to check tempa under maximum load.
