Steps for **SUCCESSFUL** installation of 11.5.9 on Windows

After a lot of effort (formatted the hard disk 5 times and installed everything from scratch ; Searching for 10 hrs on metalink and google ) of trying to figure out the "JSP not responding " problem, I sort of figured out the problem with help from my friends who work at Oracle..
Here are my steps.. (my Environment is Win 2000 Professional with SP4 on a Dell SC400 Pentium 4, 2.4GHz with 1.2G Memory and 120 GB hard drive)
***Made sure that there are no spaces in the directory structure. Also restarted machine after install of VC++ , jdk and Domain name information insertion in hosts file***
1) Installed MKS toolkit (Version 7.0 - I had a trial version)
Installed directory is C:\MKS
2) Installed VC++ 6 from Microsoft Visual Studio CD to c:\MVS (where MVS stands for Microsoft Visual Studio) and applied service pack 5
I read some metalinks where they copied the link.exe file that is in the C:\MVS\VC98\bin folder to c:\winnt\system32 folder.. I did the same for good measure
**** RESTARTED MACHINE****
**NOTE:: RapidWiz asks for MSDev directory during install ( it defaults to C:\VC98).. but during the VC++ install , the environment variable that VC++ sets for MSDev directory is C:\MVS\Common\MSDev98.. (On a Dos window, type "set" )So during install, I set the MSDev directory in RapidWiz to C:\MVS\Common\MSDev98 NOT TO C:\MVS\VC98 **
3) Downloaded make-3.79.1 (NOTE .. This is the only version that is certified to work) unzipped it to C:\ and ran the build_w32.bat file.. Had to run it twice to get the gnumake.exe file in the WinRel folder . I copied it to c:\MKS\mksnt folder
4) Downloaded jdk1.3.1_09 from http://java.sun.com
PLEASE NOTE THE VERSION # and build!! _09!!
Installed it to c:\jdk13 ** Also note that there is no "." in the directory name as specified in the installation instructions by Oracle***
Set Classpath = .; in the environment variable and also added the c:\jdk13\bin to the PATH variable.
**RESTARTED MACHINE!**
5) i)created applmgr, oracle users with Administrative rights..
ii)Made an entry 127.0.0.1 omega.xyz.com
(where omega is my machine name and xyz.com is a **fictitious** DNS domain name) in c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file
iii) Changed the Virtual Paging Memory to 4000 M on both hard drives on my machine( Right click on "My Computer" , go the advanced tab and then Performance Options and change the Virtual Memory settings
iv)Also, Go to Network - > Local Area Connection -> right click Properties -> click TCP/IP properties -> advanced -> click DNS tab -> enter DNS suffix for this connection as your domain (xyz.com)
**RESTART MACHINE **
6) I copied all the CD's to the Staging folder and started RapidWiz.. I chose d:\oracle as the installation directory!! I installed the Vision Demo and it sort of took 12 hrs..
****MOST IMPORTANT STEP****
During the installation, somewhere during Step 4 of 5 , the files for Jserv are unzipped to d:\oracle\visdora\iAS\Apache\Jserv\
Go to the "etc" folder and open jserv.properties (not jserv.conf)
At the very beginning there is an entry "wrapper.bin" which points to the java executable..
SURPRISE SURPRISE!!! The value that it contained was
wrapper.bin = c:\jdk1.3.1\jre\bin\java.exe !!!
It was supposed to have jdk13 ..And that's why JServ doesn't start up and we get the JSP not responding error!!
CHANGE THE VALUE TO CONTAIN THE CORRECT PATH AND SAVE FILE!! (THIS IS BEFORE STEP 5 of 5)
wrapper.bin =c:\jdk13\jre\bin\java.exe
IF YOU MISSED setting this value (you cannot be around the machine all the time :-) ) and the post installation
steps are executed by RapidWiz with JSP not responding error , Go to the Services from Start->Settings->Control Panel ->Administrative tools ->Services , locate the Oracle HttpServer service, stop it , make changes to the jserv.properties file as outlined above and restart the HTTP Server . Wait for 2 minutes and hit Retry on the RapidWiz window and your system would pass the JSP Test!!!
Phew!! Hope this helps .. Please follow the instructions above.. Read them atleast 2 times ( I just want to save you the pain of installing a second time :-) ) before you install
Cheers
-Srinath

I installed oracle apps 11.5.10.2 using steps given in thread and I didnt have any problems. I then installed it on my friends laptop and it worked fine. but recenly it stopped working in my laptop, i was not able to open login page from main url (http://www.msb.ora:8000) it gave error : page cannot be found
So i reinstalled it on fresh system again.. but since then it not working. I have tried atleast 9-10 times and everytime it ends up with same error "jsp is not responding", I am able to open the rapid install main page but I am not able to open login page. it says page cannot be found. i followed all the steps suggested by you guys in this thread to solve this error, but still have no luck.
I have tried following steps to solve the issue
1) As its recommended to installed apps on fressh os without jdk i did the same, as i didnt worked i tried installation with jdk preinstalled,
2) i have tried on both windows server 2003 and win xp professional
3) I tried to change the jdk path in jser.properties file

I am sure you know this but just in case ... 10.1.3.3 is not a complete software distribution, it is a patchset. In order to install this (10.1.3.3) patchset you must first install 10.1.3.0, 10.1.3.1 or 10.1.3.2. You can read more about 10.1.3.3 patchset here:

  • POST Installation steps for SAP XI 7.0 SP06

    Hi Experts ,
We are trying to install XI 7.0 SP06.We are suppose to carry out  post installation
steps but we are not able to locate a proper post installation guide for the same.
We have succesfully installed XI 3.0 earlier .However XI 7.0 post installation steps in the guide that we have "SAP NetWeaver 2004s SR1 ABAP+Java on Windows: Oracle" , are relatively less...
Nevertheless, we have carried out the following steps
5.21.1 Performing PI-Specific Steps for SLD Configuration
Local and Central System Landscape Directory (SLD)
    Mapping Security Role to User
    1. Log on to the Visual Administrator of the J2EE engine of the SLD host.
    2. Choose Cluster® Server® Services® Security Provider.
    3. In the Runtime tab, choose Policy Configurations and then the column Components, and select the component
    sap.com/com.sap.lcr*sld.
    4. Switch to the Security Roles tab to display the assigned roles.
    5. Select role LcrInstanceWriterLD.
The user SLDAPIUSER already exists with its security role LcrInstanceWriterLD.
    6. Switch to edit mode and add user PIAPPLUSER with the same role LcrInstanceWriterLD.
    Note
For a central SLD, the user PIAPPLUSER must be created in the central SLD ABAP system first and be
assigned to ABAP role SAP_XI_APPL_SERV_USER. The password must be same as in the XI Exchange
Profile on the XI Integration Server.
    Note
For information on the UME actions, see the Post-Installation Guide - SLD of SAP NetWeaver 2004s, section
Configuring SLD Security, at service.sap.com/sld® Media Library.
Maintaining SLD Connection Parameters (ABAP API)
    1. Log on to the SAP XI Integration Server System as user DDIC and call transaction SLDAPICUST. The screen
Maintain SLD Access Data is displayed.
    2. Choose Display <-> Change and proceed as follows:
    a) Replace the existing SLDAPIUSER with PIAPPLUSER user.
    Note
For a central SLD, make sure you use the user with security role LcrInstanceWriterLD.
    b) Make sure your entry is marked as Primary.
    Note
Only the entry marked as Primary is active.
    c) Save your settings.
    April 10, 2006 PUBLIC 97
Now we don't know wether the sld configuration is over or not ...or for that matter in RWB we see only J2se based adapter engine and  not J2ee based adapter engine...
    Kindly help

    Hi..
Instaed doing this, please try out template based configuration which has been mentioned in the installation guide or else do as follows
    1.Login into NWA (netweaver administrator)
    as
    http://<host.<domain>.<com>:<port>/nwa
2.Use J2ee_admin user id and password
    3.go to deploy and change
4.select template based configuration for PI
    5.execute the template
    6.install it
you can find the list of other templates which are clear and easy to do the post installation step..i found it useful ..
Apart from these, as per sandro, you can check the data transfer in visual administrator or go the abap engine, transaction RZ70, press accept proposal button
then execute button , check the data supply without any error
    Thanks

  • Post Installation Steps for ERP add-on Inventory Manager 4.0

    Hi,
I need to confirm what are the post-installation activities we must to perfom for ERP Add-on (Inventory Manager 4.0), besides de BC Activation. I did not find any information regarding the post installation steps for the ERP Add-on of Inventory Manager 4.0 (the installation guide for IM 4.0 on service marketplace does not remark the steps only explain the theorical part of the installation)... And we need to confirm if the steps are the same of Inventory Manager 3.2 Add-on or we must do an additional step?
    Best Regards,
    MC
    Stephen Streeter Manju Venkatesha

    Yeah...of course...
    I forgot to specify it.
I install the first ERP 2005 SR2 on Oracle 10.2.0.2 and the other have to be installed on the same version of DB.
    All installation are not MCOD.
This mean every installation has its own DB with different SID for every installation.
And of course I have at least doubled the space required by installer. Taken from sap notes the required space for ERP 2005 SR2 is about 90 GB.
The total space of mount point is about 500 GB....
    Thanks

    What is ESS
Employee Self-Service or ESS is a web-based solution designed to automate many of the repetitive tasks of the HR function
by allowing employees direct access to HR information and services. The basic idea of ESS is that employees are empowered to be responsible for their own personal information.
    Benefits:-
One of the major reason for organizations implementing ESS is that it allows HR professionals to spend less time in administrative tasks like paper filing,
attendance monitoring etc and more time dealing with more complex and strategic HR issues.
The Gartner Group had estimated that 40 percent of traditional HR activities were handled by ESS in the year 2000 and this can only increase over time.

  • Steps for Installation of CC 5.1

    Dear All
On monday I have to start an installation of Virsa Compliance Calibrator version 5.1.
I´ve been looking for right steps to do this, but it´s no so clear to me. So please, give me some advice which are the correct steps to do installation with minimum troubles.
My installation will be on Unix.
Also, is it possible that One installation can attend more than one ECC system??
What I need to know is that if only one installation can supply the CC functionality to more than one organization.
    Thanks in advance.

    Oliver,
CC 5.1 is web based and it has to be installed on a Netweaver box.  There are basically two areas to CC. One is the installation which is done by basis, and the second part is the configuration of CC.  If you are basis and will be installing CC, when you download the RTA for 5.1 from SAP service marketplace it should come with the guide to install CC.  But if you are configuring CC for the client then I am not sure if that is included in the download of CC 5.1.
Also, is it possible that One installation can attend more than one ECC system? Yes it can point to multiple ECC systems, however you have to consider your master user source and if you have multiple ECC systems and multiple master user sources that might be more complicated than just installing more than one system.

    Hope this helps
