Stereo signal on all 5 speakers

Hi
I am thinking of buying the inspire p5800 5.1 speakers for my computer. I have a 5.1 soundcard so I don't have any worries there.
However, I am also thinking of connecting the speakers to my TV.
The specifications for the p5800 says that there is an auxilliary 3.5mm line-in jack.
The TV has stereo phono outputs, and I have a phono to 3.5mm "Y" cable.
So, my question is, will a stereo input to the line-in socket be played back on all the speakers (ie not true 5.1, but rear speakers play the same thing as front)?
Or will sound only come out of the front two?
Any help would be appreciated.

If your connecting your TV Out to the Aux Line In jack on the subwoofer, you will only obtain sound from the front speaker. (Stereo source). What I can suggest is getting the DDTS-100 decoder along with the speaker. The decoder features Dolby Pro Logic II. With this mode on, stereo material will playback as a 5.1 channel soundfield. Hmmm, I don't have an X-Fi, but to answer your question the first thing someone needs to know is how you have your speakers connected. If, for example, you're running throgh a receiver you need to separately output each channel (using 3.5mm mini plug to RCA cables/converters you would buy at Radio Shack) to the external decoder of your receiver. Of course, in that insance, you would output the DD source stream from the optical out of the card through the optical in of the receiver; stereo playback would be from a 2. signal. I run both configs on mine. Now, if you're running computer speakers already plugged into the correct outputs of the sound card that's a different question, and it's one I can only relate from my experience with the Audigy 2 software.

I'm trying to configure my Creative Gigaworks S750 speaker system for listening to Music but I can't seem to get the sound configuration that I would like.
I have the speaker system connected to my computer (with all 3 connectors) and when listening to Music I would like to have the same amount of volume in each speaker. Or to treat all speakers on the left as a single front speaker, and all speakers on the right as a single front speaker.
Right now, no matter how I tune the software/hardware I always get a movie surround style sound. Most of the sound is coming from the Center, then the left right and the middle and back speakers have barely any sound coming from them.
Hardware-wise:
I have already minimizes the volume on the center channel on the hardware volume control that comes with the speaker system and also adjusted the center/rear volume to Maximum.
I have also tryed the 5.->7. and 6.->7. up mix feature.
Software-wise:
Every software that comes with the speaker system is installed. I use "Entertainment mode" when listening to music and in that mode I have tried:
- Adjusting the speaker mode to 2./4./5./7.
- Turned the CMSS3D on/off
- Adjusting to "Gigaworks S750" in the THX menu
- Listening to the Speaker assignment in the THX menu and all the speakers give the same amount of noise there
I have also tryied changing speaker modes in the Speaker configuration in Windows and that doesn't do anything.
I've tried both Winamp and Windows Media Player.
How can I fix this?
P.s.: Don't get me wrong, I still want the surround for when playing games and watching movies. That feature works very well.

How to split stereo to 5.1 speakers (connect MP3)

I need adaptor connect mp3 to 5.1 speakers.
I want that it will be so:
stereo signal on front and rear speakers and mono of the same signal on center,sub.

go to Adobe Premiere 2.0, and then drag an audio clip you desire and put it in the time frame, then select the Audio transition, and selected 5. sound. Drag the transition into the audio and save it now!! LOl...>ROFL....LMAO!!!

ITunes not using all speakers (4 surround and a woofer)

iTunes will not play music on all speakers. I know at one time it did, but it's like it does it when it wants to. Even if the song doesn't have surround or anything, I'd like it to play from all speakers. ***?

Not an expert in this, I don't have surround speakers.
Go into Quicktime settings and verify it is set to use surround instead of stereo.

Equium A200-196: Cannot get all speakers to work with Creative T7900 home cinema system

I run windows Vista home premium, on my Toshiba Equium A200-196, and i have a 7.1 Creative T7900 system.
I cannot get all speakers to work. Only the woofer and two front speakers are currently playing sound.
The sound option in the control panel doesn't give me any options besides stereo speakers.
I have no option of selecting 5.1 or 7.1 speakers and i need to know do i need a software driver (all drivers are showing up as up-to-date), or do i have to change some other option, or purchase an external sound card?
I only have two jack inputs, a mic in and headphone out. How can i get all speakers to work and achieve the home cinema experience?

I dont think that the sound card is capable to do 5.1/7.1 since there are many more jacks required then only one "sound-output".
If I were you I would purchase a external USB-soundcard which is capable to do 5.1 or 7.1 to deliver you the full home-cinema experience.
Another solution is not existent. Sorry mate.

Prevent OS X to upmix my stereo signal when using 6 channel HDMI

I just bought a new MacBook Pro 13" (2015 version) and I'm used to watch series using my Windows notebook or Desktop machine plugged to my Home Theatre system with a HDMI cable. Because every series is produced in 5.1 and then encoded to a Dolby stereo signal everyone can have a surround sound experience when putting it through a Dolby Pro Logic decoder although the sound is delivered as 2 channel stereo. You guys may have noticed it when watching TV and then put the sound signal through a Dolby receiver. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolby_Pro_Logic#Dolby_Pro_Logic_II)
When I was watching my movies using my PCs it would send the stereo signal through my HDMI cable (set to 5.1) and at the receiver it gets converted to surround sound. But now when I watch using my Mac my stereo signal gets upmixed to all channels (which ruins the dolby signal) and my home theatre cannot decode it anymore.
It works when I put my HDMI settings to a 2 channel configuration in OS X's Audio MIDI setup but I want to keep it in 6 channel mode in case I have a 5.1 audio file or watch a 5.1 movie.

Well then maybe you could take a screenshot because the appearance of such a window is news to me.

To take a screenshot hold ⌘ Shift 4 to create a selection crosshair. Click and hold while you drag the crosshair over the area you wish to capture and then release the mouse or trackpad. You will hear a "camera shutter" sound. This will deposit a screenshot on your Desktop.
If you can't find it on your Desktop look in your Documents or Downloads folder.
When you post your response, click the "camera" icon above the text field:
This will display a dialog box which enables you to choose the screenshot file (remember it's on your Desktop) and click the Insert Image button.
⌘ Shift 4 and then pressing the space bar captures the frontmost window.
⌘ Shift 3 captures the entire screen.
Drag the screenshot to the Trash after you post your reply.

I could be *very* wrong but did not know you could output from HDMI into displayport consistently with no issues.
Try a mDP to DP cable like this (the mDP end will go directly into the thunderbolt port of your laptop)

Yes you can. All Ipad's are unlocked and can be used any where in the world. Buy the AT&T version which is GSM in other countries

No signal at all on Airport suddenly??

I have a Powerbook G4 and have never had problems using airport to connect to the internet but I just swtiched it on after 10 days and it is no longer showing any signal at all. It is definitely switched on I have checked a bizzilion times so why is the signal gone? Last time I used it 10 days ago I was in the same spot exactly and had full signal. I also have an iphone and a pc both receiving full signal in the same spot? My daughter was fiddling with some buttons but I am sure it cant be this. I cant get any of the other internet connections to work either although I have never tried them before so dont know if I'm just mucking things up more? i.e vp something is not configured - does this need to be configured? Is their a system restore I can try to go back to the last time it worked?
Any help would be really gratefully recieved.

I'm assuming that you're not able to access the Internet with your AirPort Express Base Station (AX), not just void of a status light ... correct? If you have already performed the "factory default" reset, and still cannot access the AX ... and based on your comments, I'm afraid it's quite likely that the AX has failed.

Playing Music on ALL Speakers

I use my Airport Express to extend my network and play wireless music. This is a comment hoping that someone from Apple will either take this suggestion or that someone else might suggest an alernate solution...
I want iTunes to allow me to play music on ALL speakers detected via iTunes, not just one. I use an AE in my living room as well as main bedroom, and I want the ability to play my iTunes songs throughout the house on ALL speakers and not be limited through iTunes to only ONE location for audio.
If anyone knows anyways around this, let me know, otherwise I hope Apple will incorporate this as an addition to their next iTunes update.

I use that sound card with some 5. system made by Hercules. This sound card works great in XP, but in Vista, don't even make me start. I would say that if you use XP, the sound blaster li've! 24 bit will provide an enjoyable experience, but for Vista use other card, especially something NOT made by Creative because they don't provide even basic functionality with older sound cards in this operating system.

hi peter, that was the plan to get o2 to unlock the which they do 4 £15 but as i cant get any network signal signal of them (but i am getting a 3g signal as i can access the internet???) o2 are saying there is nowt they can do. i still get no signal after doing a factory reset which in a perfect world should reset my network back to o2 but no signal only getting 3g.im at lost now on how to restore the network im sure its something to do with the carrier signal ?

Stereo signal on monitoring, but only recording in mono

Ive got a line-in cable going into my SB Audigy 24 sound card, carrying a stereo signal. When I hit F10 to monitor the recording level, Im getting a stereo signal.
However when I come to hit record, I only record a mono signal. It does this at both 16 bit and 32 bit depth.
I never had this problem with Audition 2, and I had the same sound card.
Please, what do I need to do to fix this?

I've just had the same thing happen... it's one of those things Vista decided to do for me because I didn't reset it myself. If you have been recording in mono through no choice of your own, the setting in Audition's Audio Hardware Setup has got changed to one similar to this:
Default Input: [01M] Line In (name of sound card)
Click on the down arrow for the dropdown menu of input choices and set it to
Default Input: [01S] Line In...
and that'll fix it for you. M=mono. S=stereo.
