Still Can't Upgrade

I posted the following problem one week ago. I continue to receive update notifications for a 13.0.1 update for Illustrator, which continues to give the following error message when attempting an install: Adobe Illustrator CS3 13.0.1 Update failed to install. The update cannot be applied to the product. My daughter received the Updater message today for her copy of Illustrator running on her Intel-based MacBook Pro running Leopard 10.5.8, and she experienced the same failure to install, along with the same error message. What's going on with the 13.0.1 Illustrator updater?
Adobe Updater continually opens and attempts to update my copy of Illustrator with the 13.0.1 updater, but fails each time with a notification that the update cannot be applied to program installed. I have Illustrator 13.0.0 installed on a Mac G5 Dual Processor PPC running OS 10.5.8.
I have also downloaded the updater DMG and have received the same error message --- that it cannot update the installed program (Illustrator 13.0.0).

Well, if it were my system, the fix outlined below wouldn't have worked. Numerous requests for that fix can be found all over the Adobe Forum for Illustrator. The "truth" is that the Installers folder in the Adobe folder of the Application Support folder is not being well managed by the successive updates issued by Adobe. Only after I removed the garbage written into the Installers folder was I able to update Illustrator. That's not a consequence of my having a system problem, but rather the file management of the Patcher program. In any case, thanks to a Forum member, I was able to resolve the issue, and that's what matters most.
Go to MacHD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Installers, locate the {C4519961-AC64-4565-B3AF-9050296B5D5A}.patch file and delete it.

  • I have an imac 2006 running 10.6.8 but I still can't upgrade to Mavericks. Is this model not able to run mavericks or is there a way to download?

I have an imac 2006 running 10.6.8 but I still can't upgrade to Mavericks. Is this model not able to run mavericks, or is there a way to download? Apple says any imac running snow leopard or later.

Again, some proof would be nice
Instead of just making a casual, blanket statement, why don't you just post the actual install procedure here, then.
Also, the 2006 models really do not have sufficient RAM specs to run Mavericks well.
So, I seriously question that your 2006 model iMac is running well on Mavericks.
2006 models could either take 2 or 3 GBs of RAM (you can install 4 GBs of RAM to take advantage of more efficient RAM processing of matched pairs of RAM, but the hardware will only recognize 3.2 to 3.4 GBs of that total RAM). This is barely the needed "real world" "working" minimum of RAM needed for Mavericks to run adaequately.
New iMacs ship with a much better 8 GBs of RAM.
If you can't offer/post proof with an actual install procedure for installing Mavericks on unsupported Macs, then I would suggest you stop posting your assertion that
"I have done it" garbage and post knowledge and info that is REAL and relevant to users of 2006 model Macs that need accurate info about this.

  • I still can't upgrade my appleTV 2 software

Its been several days since the big software update and I still can't update my appleTV? is everyone else stil having this problem trying to update to 5.1?

You really aren't missing anything. This is the "crashiest" (most crash-prone) version of the ATV software I've ever used. It crashes and reboots itself on a regular basis. I simply cannot believe that Apple did any testing whatsoever before releasing it. Truly shameful.

Please help. I can't seem to understand what to delete and what not.

did you care to read the appropriate wiki page completely?
you compiled your own kernel, if you still want to use it, you need to rebuild it, If not, then simply delete it.

  • Still can't upgrade 4.2 with instructions...have itunes 11

Hi...your help so far would have worked, mabe, except i downloaded itunes 11. So i can't see my device on the left side like i used to or any commands on the right side.
I tried a backup and restore on the ipod, but that didn't get my any update option afterward.
    Still confused

If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar.  Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar.

  • Can't upgrade to Mavericks because of flash storage update 1.1

I get this message when I try to upgrade:
We could not complete your purchase.
Before installing OS X Mavericks, this system requires MacBook Air Flash Storage Firmware Update 1.1. Click on the Updates button in the Mac App Store to install the update.
The MacBook Air Flash Storage Firmware Update 1.1 has been installed "successfully" a number of times and I still can't upgrade.
I'm on a macbook air (purchased mid-2012) running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 that meets all space requirements etc.

Firmware updates are installed in two steps:
    1. The firmware update is copied to the EFI partition. If this is done correctly, the update will appear as installed when it's not.
    2. It's installed the next time you start up your MacBook, always that it's plugged in to the charger.
First, plug the MacBook to the charger, and download and install the update from the Apple website > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1690
If it doesn't work, reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

  • Can not upgrade from CC LR 5.7 to CC LR6

CC Lightroom 5.7 says upgrade available. I installed the desktop installer (many times, signed in signed out, restarted Window 8 as a test). After running the installer it says all apps are up to date. No proposition for LR 6. At one moment a message came saying Adobe has to upgrade my catalog to version  6. It was done. Then starting LR again it was still 5.7. Synchronization had been disabled and LR said that this was a security catalog copy.
Still unable to upgrade t version CC LR6

    I have LR CC and only 5.7 installed   "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom\lightroom.exe" .
Adobe support asked me to uninstall and remove Lightroom CC (2015) "with app preferences" ...than re-install.
I did this procedure but it is still LR 5.7 and still can not upgrade to  LR 6 ... even so LT updater tells me that there is an update but Creative Cloud Setup still tells me that Lightroom CC(2015) in Up to date. No progress from before.
The story with the catalog update to LR6 seem odd, but it seems that my catalog has really been updated, it is hardly possible that LR6 has installed without me noticing as it takes one hour on me connection to download.

  • E65 can't upgrade firmware!

    Hello again,
I see that there is a new version of the NSU. I made the update to NSU. I connect the E65 but still can't upgrade firmware.....
    Any news about that?
    The phone's code is 0542346....

From [email protected] I've got an answer:
"With regard to your enquiry, I suggest that you update your phone software, which could improve the overall performance of your phone and fix operation issues that you are experiencing with your phone. Nokia Software Updater now supports the Nokia E65. Kindly log on to the following link for Nokia Software Updater:
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4579163
It is highly recommended that you back up the data on your phone to a computer prior to using Nokia Software Updater as the contents of your phone would be erased. To do so, kindly follow the back up process below:
    1) Download, install and execute the Nokia PC Suite software from the following link: http://europe.nokia.com/A4144905
    2) Establish a compatible connection between your computer and your phone. More information is available at the following link: http://europe.nokia.com/A4423033
    3) Execute the "Backup" application to back up the data."
Does it work? I wish, but it does NOT!
Following instruction am trying to update my software:
NSU is "Preparing update. Identyfing connected phone",
but then I get message: "Connection error. Sorry, the Nokia Software Updater service is currently unavailable. Please disconnect your device and try again later".
Without last updates WPA doesn't work... I'm fed up with e65.

I ended up putting it in DFU mode.  It's kinda hard to tell it was in DFU mode because nothing showed on the screen, it was just black, but the sounds from the computer helped to tell me it was connected.
Itunes still didn't recognize the device for whatever reason.
So I used redsn0w.  I don't know if I can say that on these forums, but considering itunes was worthless at this point I am going to give credit where credit is due.
Now I am giving itunes a second chance to upgrade to 5.1, if it doesn't work, well, back to redsnow and maybe I will even jailbreak it this time rather than just using the fecovery fix found under extras.

    Hello pichastos,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot this issue where your camera is displaying a black screen, please follow the information outlined below.
You see a closed lens or black screen
If you see a closed lens or black screen when you open the Camera app, try these steps:
Make sure that there’s nothing blocking the camera lens. If you’re using a case, try removing it.
Force the app to close, then open the Camera app again.
Restart your device, then open the Camera app again.
If your device has a front and rear camera, try both cameras by tapping  (camera swap icon). If you see the closed lens or black screen on only one camera, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider for more help.
Get help with the camera on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Take care,
    Alex H.

  • How can I upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion if I'm still using Tiger 10.4.11?

I have an old (5 years +/-) MacBook that is still running on 10.4.11. I want to upgrade to a better OS but I think I need to increase the memory in the computer to be able to upgrade. Is this true? If so, how do I go about it?
    Thanks!!

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

Don't be afraid to bump this topic. There's also an App Store forum where you might repost this question, but give some of these details in your post.  I'd rephrase the topic to something like "Can't use App Store to upgrade." (Instead of can't "open".) Then give the details.
