Still cant open RAW file in bridge in CS3

I am on a g4 powerbook and have both cs3 and cs2 installed on my computer. In cs2 bridge i can double click a raw rile and open it in bridge, and i can also paste my raw adjustments to said file in bridge. I cant do any of this in cs3. i ran the script to delete the beta and tried suggestions in other posts, but no luck. anyone have an idea?

Have you installed the ACR plug in for CS3 (current ACR 4.4) in the right place according to the install instructions?
If you look in PSCS 3 in the menu under Photoshop - About Plug ins it should show you Camera Raw with the version number and only one install.

  • Can someone help me open raw files from bridge in CS3?

MIne used to work and it quit.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program and it won't work.  I'm using Windows 7.  Help!  Please!

    Edit:
Glad to hear you got it working.
I'll just leave what i had put here anyway.
    You want Program Files (x86)
That's where the 32 bit programs such as photoshop cs3 are on a windows 7 64 bit system.
Also, in bridge cs3 under Edit>Preferences>Thumbnails ensure Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for Jpeg and Tiff files is checked.
    (then restart bridge cs3)

  • Can't open raw files in bridge from canon 70d

I am a windows user, and I've updated my camera raw to the most current available...6.7. But when trying to open raw files in Bridge it says that my camera model is not supported by the current software. What else should I do?

Which version of Camera Raw do you use (Photoshop > About Plug-In > Camera Raw) and which one is needed for that camera?

Cross-referencing these two lists, it would appear that the PSE11 updated to its maximum ACR version of 8.0 will read DMC-G5 raws, and XZ2 raws, but not 70D raws, which you'll need PSE12 updated to ACR 8.3 to work with.
What version of ACR do you have for your PSE11?  Use Help / About Plug-ins / Camera Raw to find out.

  • Still cant open embedded files with Adobe Reader 10.0.1

    Hi!
In the first version of Adobe Reader X you had to disable the Protection Mode in order to open PDF-files on a network drive or that are embedded in a i.e Word document.
I have now upgraded my version to 10.0.1.
The first issue seems to be solved (open files on a network drive). But I still cant open PDF files embedded in another file??
I get the error message: The Program used to create this object is AcroExch. That program is either not installed on your computer or it is not responding. To edit this object, install AcroExch or ensure that any dialog boxes in AcroExch are closed.
And if I try to embedd a PDF-file myself into a document I get the same result.
As soon as I turn of the Protection Mode it works...
Is there a way to keep the PM on and still be able to open documents???
    Regards Daniel

I'm not sure why Adobe hasn't looked into this.  One description elsewhere in the forum seems to suggest that if the computer has had older versions of the reader installed, it will work -- somehow the embedded file needs an older registry key.  I have yet to try installing older versions of reader onto my machine.  This machine has only had reader 10 installed on it.
I tried the recommendation that is given in another thread.  Turn off running reader in protected mode.  The first time I did it, it didn't work.  The second time I unchecked the "use in protected mode" box, I closed and then reopened reader.  Now I can open embedded pdfs in word.

  • Couldn't open RAW files in Bridge Cs3

    Hi,
the RAW files (CR2) cannot be opened/developed with using Bridge CS3. When I double click the file (CR2) in Bridge, it just gave this prompt in Photoshop, "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
I used to be able to open Raw files in my friend's G5 using Bridge. When I double click the file, it will automatically open the Canon Camera Raw with settings for me to adjust before I develop the picture. However when I tried on my own computer, it came out the prompt I mentioned above.
Please advise what is the problem with my Bridge. Do I need to reintall the whole of Adobe suite?
    Thank you so much.

    Brian
first check again the right location of (only one!) ACR plug in (see post 3 of this thread for details)
Then quit Bridge, in user library go to preferences and manual trash the plist file for Bridge (com.adobe.bridge2.plist), restart again with option key and again reset prefs.
If this is still not working create a new user account and check if Bridge is working correctly in this new user, if so your user account is corrupt and you should do maintenance for the OS (Archive and install).
If still no luck go again to the user library/cache/Adobe/BridgeCS3/cache. This cache file can grow to the enormous portions, check the size and if you wish make a copy for back up. Then delete this whole cache file by dragging it to the trash. Again delete plist file and again restart option to refresh prefs. By deleting the cache file you will need to recache all your folders so it is a very hard way but it worked for me several times.

  • Opening RAW files in Bridge

According to p. 235 of "Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac", you are supposed to be able to right click on a RAW file in Bridge, and then you will presented with a pop up menu displaying the menu item "Open in Camera Raw".  Clicking on "Open in Camera Raw" in Bridge is supposed to give you access to the full set of ACR features that Photoshop CS4 users enjoy.  On the other hand, using PSE 8 to open RAW files results in a stripped down set of features in ACR.
Unfortunately, I am unable to open NEF files (Nikon's RAW files) in Bridge. When I right click on a NEF file in Bridge, there is no menu item which says "Open in Camera Raw". However, if I right click on a .jpg file in Bridge, then I do see the "Open in Camera Raw" menu item.
I am able to open NEF files in PSE 8 and edit them with ACR using the stripped down feature set.   My PSE 8 came with ACR 5.5.  I installed ACR 5.6 to see if that would help, but I get the same results.
osx 10.4.11, PSE 8 for mac, ACR 5.6

Hmmm. Works for me -- when I right-click on a NEF file in Bridge (or select and then click on the "open in RAW" icon in Bridge's top menu bar), it works fine for me. I see the full-featured ACR. I use ACR 5.6, PSE Mac 8, and OS X 10.6.2.
When you installed ACR 5.6, you followed the PSE-specific instructions, right? In Preferences, you've got NEF associated with PSE? And you're not trying to mix-and-match Bridge and iPhoto simultaneously?
So far, the only difference is I'm using Snow Leopard. And i've never installed NX2 et. al. Not that it should matter, but which camera are you using?

  • Opening RAW files with Bridge CS3

When I try to open a RAW file from Bridge CS3 it defaults to Mac Preview and does not open Photoshop Elements 6 RAW converter.  If I open a RAW file outside of Bridge it work fine.  What did I do wrong??   Using a iBook G4 with OS 10.5.8 and Photoshop Elements 6 and new Camera RAW plugin for my Panasonic LX3 camera.  hjz62

Bridge requires the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw to be installed.  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4581 Adobe states that this is the latest version of camera raw compatible with PSE-6 Mac. Others may have additional information.
As to the issue of defaulting to Apple software, this issue is usually a configuration problem wherein certain file extensions are granted permissin to be summarily opened by a given program. ((Right clicking any given file, then choosing "open with", and selecting a given program  is a work around, but to avoid this step, you need to reconfigure your program settings.)) This is the Windows file path/solution, I am not familiar with Mac. I am confident that the issus is the same

  • Sony NEW RX10 & iPhoto Cant open RAW files

Hey Guys, I know that not ALL RAW files are equal! I just picked up a NEW SONY RX10 and its shooting RAW files in Sony's ARW format.. I see that the NEW a7's are updated in OSX updates, Im assuming that the a7's and the New RX10 are the same ARW format, but I cant open these files in Preview and Iphoto wont see them either! Im using OSX 10.8.5 (ML) and Iphoto 11 (9.4.3) (720.91) Is anyone else having this issue with a RX10 or newer Sony camera with ARW files... Please reply! I really would like to shoot in RAW and use iPhoto to edit! I guess not ALL SONY .ARW are equal????

Im assuming that the a7's and the New RX10 are the same ARW format,
There you go - that is an incorrect assumption (as most assumptions are - as you know when you assume you make an ***ume out of ***ume & assume) - every RAW format for every camera is different and requires specific support for tha tcamera - notice in the support list that many different cameras in the same family are listed seperatly
Usually Apple releases Sony RAW support pretty quickly since Sony is a major manfactuer of consumer and professional cameras
Tell Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback
The Sony software that came with the camera may help (although my experiance is that Sony has poor to non-existance support for Macs) and possible the Adobe RAW converter can help until Apple releases the required update
And it is very possible that the update will only apply to Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.x so it is possible that you will have to upgrade your OS and iPhoto (both free) - when you do be sure to backup first
The current Mavericks list is at http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5955

  • Cant open RAW files from Nikon D300S

I have a Nikon D300S.  I can't open RAW files in Adobe CS4.  Screen message is 'Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document'.  I understood from this Adobe website that the fix was to download Camera Raw 5_5.  I've done that and the same screen message appears.  What am I doing wrong / what do I need to do to fix the problem.   If you can list a step by step process in the plainest terms possible then that would be appreciated.  Thanks

Firstly thanks to all who are trying to assist.  I appreciate your spending time on this.   Hopefully this additional info will help:
    (1) the camera is a Nikon D300s.  I'm not aware of any model details beyond this   It was bought c9 months ago.
    (2) I bought Adobe CS4 before buying the Nikon D300s.   I've used CS4 to convert RAW files from my other cameras - a Nikon D2H and a Minolta Dimage - without any bother at all.
    (3) CS4 is loaded onto my Windows based PC in to the Windows 'Downloads' folder.  I'm not using any Mac computers.
    (4) The procedure I followed to upload the Adobe files was:
    (a)  I clicked 'Help' - About Plug-in - Camera Raw.  Info on screen says 'Version 5.0.0.178
    (b)  In looking at the Adobe support web pages (I can't now find which one it was) it indidated I should check for updates.  I downloaded and saved  Photoshop_11.0.2_mul_AdobeUpdate.  Its filed in my 'Downloads' folder in Windows.
    (c) I used the Adobe search engine using an enquiry "CS4 Camera Raw Updates'.  This produced a page with box at the top and 2 headings 'Digital camera raw file support' and 'Adobe camera raw and DNG convertor downloads'.  Under this second heading there are choices to click for Widows and Mac OS.  I selected Windows.  The result produces a list of Updates / Programmes.   I selected Adobe DNG Convertor 5.5 update and Camera Raw 5.5 update and downloaded both into my Windows 'Downloads' folder.  I chose these because according to the list info they were relevanf for the Nikon D300s.  I attempted to open a photo taken from the D300s in Raw and the photo would not open - the usual '......not the right document' message.
    (d) from Forum contributions I then deleted version 5.5 of both files downloaded at (c) above and installed version 5.7 and then tried to view the Raw image again, Same result.  This is the up to date position as at this post.
Have I missed a step somewhere? eg should there be a step forcing a link from the downloaded updates to CS4 or do the downloads automatically link to CS4 when the download is complete?
Any furhter help you can offer is appreciated.  Thanks.

  • CS4 downloaded raw 5.7 still cant open cr2 files on windows 8 HELP!!!

Does CS4 work ok on windows 8 I have purchased a new windows 8 laptop and installed CS4 and I could not open my CR2 files so I downloaded raw 5.7  convertor and still nothong can you please help.

Your camera, the Canon EOS Digital Rebel T1i EOS 500D EOS Kiss X3 Digital.  Has been supported ever since ACR version 5.4, so ACR 5.7 is the correct one to install.
Note that we're NOT talking about the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 5.7, which needs to be launched and run separately from Photoshop or Bridge every time you have a new batch of raw Canon files in order first to convert them to raw DNG files.
No, we're talking about ACR 5.7, the Camera Raw plug-in 5.7 that you need to download and install in the precise location strictly according to the precise instructions on the download, and only then re-launch Photoshop and/or Bridge CS.
If you downloaded the DNG Converter 5.7 by mistake, that's not going to magically or automatically open your raw files.  You need to look for, download and install ACR 5.7 in the correct location.  Here's the link to the Windows ACR 5.7 download:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4683
    Installation Instructions
After downloading a ".zip" file, use the operating system or a utility such as WinZip or PKZIP to access the file's contents.
Need help with downloading? See our Downloading Help documents.
This new version of the Camera Raw plug-in replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Adobe Creative Suite 4 or Photoshop CS4.
To install with Adobe Creative Suite 4 or Photoshop CS4:
    Manual installation on Windows®:
    1. Exit Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Bridge.
    2. Open the download file, double-click Setup.exe, and follow the onscreen instructions.
    3. Launch Photoshop CS4 or Adobe Bridge.

  • Opening RAW files in Bridge - not recognized as "Camera RAW files"

I would appreciate any help with this as I am frustrated after spending hours trying to figure this out:
    I use a Mac OS X laptop
I have a Panasonic (DMC FZ8) camera that I've been taking RAW pictures with. I plug my camera into my computer and try and open the RAW files directly from the camera using Bridge (I have Photoshop CS2)..I have also tried copying the files to a folder on my desktop and opening from there. The problem is that Bridge doesn't recognize my .RAW files as actual "Camera RAW" files and the icons remain as the Preview icon and not actually a preview of the image. If I click on it to open it in Photoshop the "Photoshop RAW Options" come up set on 8 bits and when I open it, it's just a gray screen. I have checked the settings for RAW Camera and the Panasonic RAW files .raw is selected. I have also tried selecting "show only camera raw files" in my window that is open and my .RAW files that are there gray out - so the program isn't recognizing them.
I just downloaded the Plug-in 3.7 Camera Raw and had to create folders for it in Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS2/File Formats. the only folder I had was Application Support/Adobe so the rest I created.
I'm now lost as to what I should do next. Nothing I try seems to be working.
    PLEASE HELP!

    >I plug my camera into my computer and try and open the RAW files directly from the camera
    Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!
That is a monumentally bad idea. Transfer the closed files to your local hard drive first.
This excerpt is from a long-gone post by the late, lamented author Bruce Fraser:
    Bruce Fraser - 4:17pm Jun 14, 04 PST (#5 of 21)
Opening files directly from the camera is a bad idea for a variety of reasons*, and it most certainly isn't faster than using a FireWire or USB2 card reader.
             Drains the camera battery
Runs the risk of the software you're using to open the images writing to the card and destroying the format
Runs a small but significant risk of USB power frying the camera
Slowest method known to mankind of getting images off a CF or SD card

  • I cant open raw files fron cannon 700d

Using CS5 which says it is "up to date" Bridge and Camera Raw all say they are "up to date" but are not the latest version and wont open the files from the Cannon 700D

The Canon 700D was first supported by Adobe Camera Raw 7.4 which is only compatible with CS6 and higher
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
ACR7.4 is not compatible with CS5.
    Your choices:
    Upgrade to CS6
Purchase Lightroom 5. Open the Raw files from the 700D and convert them to TIFFs. Edit the TIFFs in CS5.
    Join the Cloud
    Join the Photoshop Photography Program
    https://creative.adobe.com/plans/offer/photoshop+lightroom
Convert the Raw files from the 700D using the free Adobe DNG Converter. Then edit the DNGs in CS5
