Still images have very low quality

When I import images into Final Cut Express they are pixelated and look very bad. When I open the same image in Preview the image is displayed at full quality. How can I fix this? I am running Final Cut Express 2.0.3.
Thanks for your help

Are you saying that my vidieo is compresed?
How might I uncompress it?

  • When rendered, still images appear in low quality

    Hello everyone.
I'm facing an interesting dilemna with Adobe Premiere Elements 8. It usually works fine for me, and with time I have learned to fix most of the details that usually bother unexperienced users such as me.
What happens is that I'm importing still images (JPEG) to my video, and when rendered they're final quality appears to be so low. I mean, you can see the pixels very large, square-like, you know... as if I had a small image and had it stretched out a lot, but that was not the case at all.
I never had this problem before, and I can't recall anything different on my part in this new video.
Any ideas as to how to fix this?
    Thanks everyone.

    Hi everybody,
It is a bit late to join this discussion but for vacation reasons I didn't follow the PE-Forum for a while.
I think I have a comparable problem like fmrees: Since a couple of days the resolution of the Preview in PE8 is rather poor. Unfortunately I can't say exactly when it startet. Maybe it begun after I rendered the project.
After having read this issue I deleted the rendered files, looked at the preview: still the same. Re-rendering didn't improve the result.
The difference between the problem of fmrees and mine is: I do not use at all still images. The only video sources are AVI-Files from MiniDV.
I looked at other PE-projects I didn't touch for several week: I have the same problem! So probably it is something in the PE- or project-settings, but I have no idea what it could be (I am rather a newbee in PE).

  • After import from Iphoto some pictures are of very low quality. The original file in Iphoto is very good.

    Final cut Express
I imported several pictures by using Iphoto. Some of them, not all, are of very low quality even if the original file is of a very good quality.

It sounds as though you may have imported the thumbnails but I can't imagine how.
It all depends on what you mean by very low quality.
Your iPhoto  pictures will be around 4,000x3,000 pixels but when they are imported into a standard def timeline they will be around 720x540 which is a tremendous reduction.
They should still look OK but not  as good as the brilliant hi-res originals.

  • Rendered video very low quality

My camera shoots in MTS format. I converted the file to mp4 and edited it. I then imported that footage into After Effects and when I tried to render the video it was very low quality. I made sure the composition settings and render settings matched that of my video. I tried saving it as H.264, mov, avi, m4v, and mpeg2 non of which were good enough quality to use. The avi format came close in quality for the video but everything seemed to move in slow motion. The audio played perfectly though. I also tried rendering video directly from the MTS file and it still didn't work.
Is there a specific way I should convert or encode the file? I tried some different settings within Adobe Media Encoder but when I brought the file into AE and tried to render I got the same issues of it being low quality.
This is for a client so it's very important that I get the needed effects added to this video. Thanks in advance for any help!

I understand how After Effects rendering works and different file types. I just wanted to try rendering in different formats just make sure I hadn't missed something. I figured something out that came close to the quality I need so I guess it will have to work.
My original MTS file is 1920 x 1080 and 29 fps.
I rendered it with these settings originally
    NTSC, 1920 x 1080
    29.9 fps
    Bitrate CBR 30 Mbps
The file came out choppy and noticeably lower quality.
The last time I rendered it with these settings:
    NTSC, 1280 x 720,
    59.94 fps
    Bitrate CBR 20 MBps
The quality was much much better. It still had a little distortion with a lot of movement but it was much more bearable so I guess that's what I'm going with. If anyone knows of any better settings it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

  • Why is it that when I connect my iPhone 5S to my Windows Vista computer, the photos made with my iPhone are all of very low quality and most of them are turned upside down?

Why is it that when I connect my iPhone 5S to my Windows Vista computer, the photos made with my iPhone are all of very low quality and most of them are turned upside down?
On another note, the iPhone tells me that it's ''busy'' when opening a photo on the computer.
(I tried restarting my PC, connecting via another USB port, importing using PhotoStream, etc...)

Are you using the front or rear camera? When you say they are low quality, are you referring to file/pixel size, or how the picture looks? As far as upside down, how are you holding the phone? Older versions of Windows have issues reading the Metadata from the pictures and will not display the same.

  • Resizing Multiple Images to a lower quality of image in photoshop CS3

    Hi there,
I want to re size a lot of images to a lower quality. Is there a way of doing this process without having to open each individual file time after time. All the images are different sizes. I just want to lower the size of the file for putting in a pdf catalogue.
I'm sure there is a way of doing this and I probably have been shown before but I have completely forgotten.
I would appreciate any help or advice please. I'm using CS3.
    Thanks a million
    Ben

    Hi Ben,
I usualy crate an Action. This is what you do:
Place all your files into one directory, and create another directory inside that directory called for example. resized.
1.) Open Photoshop. Create an Action. New Action
2.) Than open one image from the directory
    3.) resize it.
    4.) Save it into resized
    5.) Close it
6.) Switch Recording OFF for the Action.
And than you just play it over and over again. Worked for me all the time.

  • IDT High Definition Audio CODEC v. 6.10.6395.0 Upon installation I have very low audio output

    IDT High Definition Audio CODEC v. 6.10.6395.0.  5/21/ 2012
Upon installation I have very low audio output!   Screen Shot    Screen Shot 2
        I have tried:
    un-installing and reinstalling the drivers.
Installed the original drivers via HP's website sp53222 for my particular model.  HP  Pavilion HPE  h8-1070t
Any suggestions? would be greatly appreciated.  It would appear IDT who I also emailed and they never responded is responsible for a codec pack that is not fully functional with this motherboard.
was wir lieben meistens nicht kriegen

Did you access the Catalyst Control Center in programs and look at the latest updates for your graphics card and make sure you didn't download the audio drivers they self install and are checked automatically each time you attempt an update for the card.
Did you right click on the speaker in the system tray and go into recodring devices make sure everything is setup propper there sometimes they too can change.
I'm familiar with cakewalk but never used it on Win7 its been many years since I played around with that. If you are using the onboard audio card and it has worked before and not now if I were in your situtation I would attempt to reisntall the dirvers via device manager they do sometimes become corrupt especially if you picked up any malware that was removed by your antivirus software due to the drivers and malware both reside inwindows\system32.
After the reisntall of the drivers if the issue is not resolved I would upgrade the audio card with a  PCIe x1 component such as:
Creative Labs SB1040 PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Sound Card
     http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs-SB1040-Express-Blaster/dp/B000W7PNZI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357...
After I paid for a real soundcard with Recording: 24-bit/96kHz and Sound Output Mode - 7.1 and bypassed my onboard audiocard I never had any issues again. My onbaord worked too in the begining for certain things than stopped mysteryously and the reinstallation became ineffective after a while so I decided the money for the tower was invested mainly in the CPU i7 the RAM and HDD.
*** Note if you did install the audio drivers for the graphics card you will have to change the onboard audio in the BIOS from automattic to enabled. Otherwise you will have no sound at all. So never take the audio drivers for the graphics card unless you need them for DVR recording or something. The PCIe audio cards are never effected by this however only the onboard audio. Another reason onboard is a cheap way to go and HP bundles it as cheap as it can my friend.
    Good Luck again!

  • DVR replay on the non-DVR STB - very low quality

I started recording a football game on the DVR, and about 45 minutes later I began to watch it on the non-DVR setbox in another room.  The quality is very low: every 10 seconds (almost exactly) the picture gets very choppy, stops and starts.
On the DVR itself, the replay is good.
Is this a known problem with the STB?

Have you attempted re-booting both STBs?

  • Incorrect image size and low quality file (Photoshop CC trial ver. on Macbook Pro Retina)

At first, I set 500x500 size
but in workplace, it show smaller than 500x500 (maybe 250x250?)
I check on "image > image size" it still show me 500x500 pixels
    Save for web
After that, i got a 500x500 file but It resize from smaller to 500x500 , so... i got a low quality file.
    what's wrong?
(sorry for bad english skill but i really want your help)
Ps. it also incorrect when i set resolution as 300dpi

Pixel is not a measurement unit of length per se.
If a screen has more pixels per unit of length an image (when displayed as one image pixel per one screen pixel) would appear smaller than on a screen with lower resolution.
To make sure could you please post an image that is 500px x 500px (according to Image > Image Size) but seems to be too small to you?

  • All fonts coming out very low quality

    Hey all,
I'm having a problem, and I think I may have inadvertantly changed a setting in Pohotoshop CS3.  What is happening is that when I'm dealing with images 1000px (width and height) or less, all of my fonts are coming out in very poor quality, almost square like.  I'm not sure what setting controls this, but it just started happening recently.  Here's a screenshot of a 900px wide image of some text, 300pix/in: http://imgur.com/TD864
I would greatly appreciate any help.

Check your anitaliasing, mine is set to sharp in thsi screenshot. You need to switch to the text tool to access anti-aliasing.

  • My iphone still plays songs with lower quality instead of 256kbps

I enabled iTunes match on my iPad and iPhone 4S. However, it already
has my songs already synced on them and when I play songs it plays at
lower quality than at 256kbps as claimed by Apple.
One option is to delete all the songs on the iPad and iPhone. But that
will require me to delete every song individually. How do I solve this
    problem?

When you turn on iTunes match on your iOS device it should warn you that it is going to delete your songs.  You will then need to redownload the ones you want to listen to from the cloud.

  • Slides have very low fps and laggy input for first few slides.

We are creating a project in captivate that is 50 slides long. The first 4 or so slides are very laggy and are very slow to respond. They have flash animations and they do not play at the full 24fps. After awhile (usually by the 6th or 7th slide, the lag stops and the animations start playing at 24fps, although they often pause in the middle of the animation). The first few slides do not lag if you manually jump to the first slide once the project has got up to full speed.
We are using flash animations, custom widgets that are modified versions of the "Flash Button" widget that comes with captivate, and text to speech audio on almost every slide. We are running the project locally, from the hard drive. The problem seems to happen only when there are button widgets (custom or the default Button.swf) on any slide. It goes away once they widgets are removed. The problem seems to still exist, but load faster when there are less slides in the project. I'm wondering if it has something to do with loading the button widgets, as it eventually goes away, like they are done being cached or something.

    Hi
Can you tell me which version of CAPTIVATE and OS you are using? and provide me the screenshots of SWF SIZE AND QUALITY under PROJECTS in PREFERENCES

  • Help! My 300 dpi images are printing low quality!

I've purchased print-ready images (300 dpi) from an extremely well-known stockphoto website to use in a brochure I'm creating.  On the brochure cover (which is 8.5" x 5.5"), I have placed 14 of these print-ready images.  (FYI-all of these print-ready images are pictures of people smiling while doing various activities.)
As you can imagine, I have had to reduce the scale of each of these print-ready images to approximately 1" x 0.7" to fit on the page.  The layout itself looks really nice, but when I attempt to create a .pdf using the "Print Booklet" option, all of my images look horrible!  I've also attempted to create a .pdf using the "Export" function and selecting "Press Quality" and my images are slightly better, but still look horrible!
I have also re-scaled the images in Photoshop (leaving them at 300 dpi) and created a .tiff file, but no matter what I do (and I've been wrestling with this single problem for DAYS), I can't get these images to actually appear clearly on a printed page.  When I forwarded my brochure (in .indd, .pdf, and .eps formats) to a professional printing company, they came back to me telling me to use print-ready images.
I've been working with print-ready images for well over a year and have sent multiple jobs to professional printers and this is the first time I've ever had a problem with images looking like they aren't print-ready.  Could it be that you can only reduce the size of an image so much?  Has anybody had this problem before???
Thanks in advance for your input!

Thanks for the comments thus far! I forgot to mention that all of my images are .jpegs (300dpi).
I've reviewed my "Print Booklet" settings and under my "Images- Send Data,"  I have "All" selected as opposed to "Optimized Subsampling."  My Effective Resolution is also set at 300 dpi.
I'm still working, and am open to more suggestions.
    Thanks!

  • Very low quality after using OCR

    Hello,
I am using OCR in a couple of documents which have tables I want to export to an excel document. The issue is that the letters after using OCR, are hardly legible. Hence, the text is not well detected and I can´t reply it on the excel document.
    Thank you very much.
    Kind regards,

    Hi Hugo_16,
I would recommend you to use High quality scan settings while scanning the document and then try running OCR again on the same document.
