Stock of material at different revision levels

Hi,
We are planning to have revision levels (from Engineering Change Management) for a material. There will be different revision levels of the material (for each minor enhancement) and there can be stocks of the material at each of these levels. Can I get the stock of the material for each revision level?
Please note that I will not create new material for each minor enhancement.
Regards,
Lakshman

Thanks for the replies.
Workarounds are fine... (I have already considered these workarounds) but my question was whether I can see the stock at different revision levels.
To rephrase with an example, I have a material 1001 with the current revision level 03. Can a standard report show me the following:
material 1001, revision level 01 stock 100 ea
material 1001, revision level 02 stock 300 ea
material 1001, revision level 03 stock 700 ea
I am looking for an answer to this specific question.
Thanks
Lakshman

  • How to map revision level materials to already created inspection plan?

    Dear All,
I have created single inspection plan for many existing raw materials. Now it has been found that each raw material have different revision level as well as valid from date.
My inspection plan is created on 02.07.2014 and each raw material has different revision level with valid from date which is also very old (like 11.03.2012 for revision level 09).
My Requirement is:  how to correct my inspection plan?,  so that it will work for each assigned raw material and there will not be any material revision level wise problem created for the inspection lot so that my inspection lot should be created in REL status in QA32 transaction i.e. inspection lot is assigned automatically as per standard SAP functionality.
    Thanks,
    Narresh

    Hi Amol,
    Thanks for your reply.
In this business scenario, we are not creating inspection plan for each raw material because there is similarity in inspection for 40-50 raw materials and total number of raw materials are around 500. This will be very difficult and unnecessarily data creation in the system.
As per my understanding revision level is for material master revision and if material master changes then how it affect so much on inspection plan? also is it means that for every revision in future we will have to create new inspection plan?  hence I believe that if I will make back dated inspection plan for raw materials then it may work. Is my understanding is correct?
Expecting much better solution from QM experts.
    Thanks,
    Narresh

  • Multiple Revision Levels for a Material

Today, Tyco Electronics has many manufacturing sites located around the world.  A given material may be manufactured in multiple locations.  When Engineering determines that a given material must change revision level, they determine a date that this new revision level becomes effective.  Unfortunately, not all manufacturing sites can be ready to manufacture to that new revision level.  In fact, based on tooling, one manufacturing site may manufacture to both the old and new revision level for a period of time until all of their tools/dies have been switched over.  In addition, customers may require that only the latest revision be sold to them.  Does anyone else have this requirement/issue today?  If so, how are you handling this within the SAP R/3 system since material revision is at a global level and there is no component revision level field on the bill of material.  Requirements are to sell at a material/revision level, plan to a particular material/revision level, stock at a material/revision level.  Any input you have would be greatly appreciated.

Which strategy shall I use for picking?
Can you please guide me what material master data fields are required for these strategies.
    regards,
    VS

  • Synchronizing Material Master revision level across multiple plants

    Hello,
If an organization uses material master revision level to maintain the details of material's validity across different plants then we see a material master with different revisions in that organization. Now I  would like to understand the impact of this practice in big organizations , is it advisable to have a material master with different revisions in different plants? , if not then which is the best way to synchronize these material masters ( with different revision level ), which are already in use?

    Hello Ulf,
Thanks for your reply, the actual issue is..
There are two companies; both are using the same material.
We are building a central system and synchronizing the materials from all companies.
While synchronization, we found that revision level are different across companies.
    1.      Should we avoid using revision level in our organization?
    2.      If I can find the validity of a material with change no + material + plant, then what is the purpose
             of the revision level?
    3.     What will be the impact, if we remove the entire revision level across all companies?
    4.     In real world, across different organizations, how revision level is synchronized across companies or at least in the central system.
Please let me know your valuable inputs.
    Thanks

  • How can i attach a document to a specific material revision level ?

    Dear guru.
I manage a material with revision level.
I need to attach a specific document , created using DMS , for every revision level of this material.
How can I do that ?
    Thanks.

    Hi Cris,
This cannot be achieved through std process.
Alternate way is, As soon as you create material with different revisions better to create document with material no as document no with different versions.
In SPRO->Document Management->Define document types->Define Object links, for object MARA set document version            as 1:Default:current version ,so that whenever you view material in MM02/MM03 of different version you can see document with current version only.

  • Create Material Master Revision Level using CC02

    Dear oss ,
Using CC02 for a change number I can view object material and I can insert a new material. The revision level field is greyed.
Can I have a chance to create  revision level for a material directly using CC02 ?
    Thanks.

If you want to create revision level of Material then use t-code CC11. I hope it would help you.

  • Material revision level

    Hi,
What is the procedure to assign Revisin level to already existing Material .
and tables where Revision level is reflected
    Thanks

My requirment is to   assign new  Revision level to material and change revision level of already existing revision levels of material.  and to display Purchase order with material with revision level.
for already existing material with  revision level , Purchase Order and Delivery Schedule is showing Revision level.
(Revision level is assigned using CC11 and stored in table AEOI).  it is updated to table ekpo.
for PO and Delivery schedule , m picking data field from EKPO-REVLV.
and it is working fine. PO an DS shows REVISION LEVEL field.
( above case was during implementation )
but for last one year no one updated the revision level  of material.
now requirement is to update the material with revision level.
But the Problem when i try to assign new revision level to material or want to change the already existing revision level of material then ,it is assigned to material with CC11 and CC12 and  shown in table AEOI . but revision value is not updated to table EKPO for field REVLV . so by thins  PO and Delivery schedule is coming without  revision level.
how to reflect revision level assigned to material to table EKPO ? may be m missing some step ...
    i checked OS54 table
    my OS54 settings are
    REV LEV ACT                   (active)
    Ext. Revision Level            (inactive)
    Higher REV Level              (Active)
    Rev Lev Automatically      (inactive )

  • BOM explosion in subcontracting order according to revision level

    Hello experts
I have different revision levels available for a subcontracted material, e.g. the BOM of this material has different versions depending on the validity date.
When a BOM explosion is carried out in the subcontracting order (either in the purchase request or in the purchase order) the selected version of the BOM is done accordingly to the delivery date. It does NOT take into account the revision level even when I change it manually.
Do you have any idea if it is possible to force SAP to consider the revision level instead of the delivery date for the BOM explosion ? (custo, user exit, BAdI, ...)
    Many thanks
    Amaury

    Hi
BOM explosion in Subcon PO will be carried out automatically when you select the item category L.
If you want to control the BOM selection based on the Alternative then you can go with Production version option and get the help from PP consultant to create the production version.
Assign the production version in Subcontracting Inforecord.
Click the BOM explosion button the switch to alternative BOM during the PO creation.
    Hope it helps
    Thanks/Karthik

  • Revision level in BOM

    Dear All,
I want to bring the column of the revision level in Bill of material display screen
    Regards,

Going a little farther with this concept:
If I have a material planned through MRP and there are multiple revision levels for the item, will the reservation for the material reflect the revision level at the time the reservation was made or the revision level at the time the material is required?
For example, material A has a change record which creates a new revision level a month from today.  Today, MRP creates a reservation for that item due for production in six weeks.  Does MRP create RESB with the revision level as of today or as of the new change record?  What does MRP use for the revision level determination date?

  • Stock report for single material contains different material groups

    Hi Experts,
I have a scenario.I want to maintain material group for a material at the time of po creation. In next time i will maintain different material group for the same material.
But I want to view the the stocks for material group wise which i entered in po.Is it possible to achieve this?
                  Please suggest solution.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Deepika.

Please read the KBA document  2012912 - Changeablility of the field "material group" in purchasing documents
It clearly says that material group can't be changed in case you will use material master in purchase order.
So, it is clear that you can't use different material group for material master in purchase order.
For stock report, system will only show you the material group which is assigned to the material master (MARA-MATKL). System will not look into the purchase order section (like EKPO).

  • Open PR Material Master Revision Level

    Hi,
I am working on upgrade from 4.5b to ecc6.0.In this Project Material Revision Level and Change Number is assigned with Z Program.
The Requirement is the Program has to check the Open PR 's and that particular Material  needs to be updated with Change Number and Revision Level.
Now the Functional Specification to be prepared for the Technical Team -Based on the Open PR condition  -Now what are the fields to be specified in EBAN table in order to fullfill the open PR.
As per my understanding Open PR means PO is not created and PO is created means that PR is closed.
Or any other fields are to taken into consideration for preparing Functional Specification
    Please reply me ..
    Thanks for the reply.

It is very much possible. You can try this use case. It's pretty simple. But Vice-versa is not possible.

  • Revision level not appearing in material tab of purchase order

    hi
I have matained revision level in material master but it is not appearing in material tab of purchase order and print preview of purchase order
    regards
    Badari

Hi, If u have created proper change no in CC01 with assigned object material with proper validity period u can give revision level to material.
In order to reflect the current revision level on PO printout, the coding in PO print program should be designed accordingly to pick the latest revision level. PO output needs to be re-issued so that the new output can pick the latest information like PO revision level from the master.
Refer below link also for more information,

  • Revision level of material automatically assign to purchase order

    Hello all,
when I create a new purchase order for a material, is it possible to assign the latest revision level of that material (material master - basic data 1) automatically to the Revision level field on item level - Material data for the material in the PO? Meaning when I create the PO with this material, SAP automatically fills this field with the revision information from the material master?
    Thanks
    Anne

It should pick latest revision level.Becuse PO get all data from material master.

    Hello Rahul ,
Please see the following link for more information regarding the Revision Level in Material Master.
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_03/helpdata/EN/ff/5160a249d811d182b80000e829fbfe/frameset.htm
A revision level identifies a specific change status of a material with reference to a change number. It is used, for example, to identify changes affecting other areas such as Production.
You generally assign a revision level when processing a material BOM (bill of material created with reference to a material master record). However, you can also assign a revision level when processing a material master record.
You can display a revision level assigned to a material by choosing Display revision level on a departmental data screen in a material master record.
I hope this information has been helpful for you.
    Best Regards,
    Frank
