    Dear Sir

    1) i have turn on archive log and log is generating following following directory
    :\db2\PSD\log_archive\DB2PSD\PSD\NODE0000\C0000000
    2) we want to take archive log backup, as per SAP DB13 tcode there is option "Archive log file to tape", we are not using tape drive, is there any option to take archive log backup to disk?
    regards

    Yes you can restore the backup as follows :
    1 . Restore the database :
          db2 restore db <SID> from <backup_dir> LOGTARGET <directory_to_which_log_files_will_be copied>
        Rollforward the database:
        db2 "rollforward db <SID> to end of logs overflow log path ('<directory_to_which_log_files_will_be copied>')"
    2. The simplest way is to use the following command .
         db2 RECOVER DB <SID>
        This will use the latest backup image and rollforward to the end of logs using all default values.
    Also an online backup as of DB2 9.7 includes the transaction logs by default , you do not need to exclusively specify.

  • How Stop DB2 db BACKUP

    Hi,
    The system Runs in DB2 DB, and actually need help with this topic.
    My Backup are running fine, but recently, have a problem with operation time and my scheduled online backup, my system got slow, so now i need to know how to stop my online backup, because sometimes we need  reschedule it later.
    My database are in DB2 and have Partitions, the backup its online and with compress, so the instruction i use its next:
    /db2_software/bin/db2 -v backup db $db2sid on all dbpartitionnums online use TSM with 2 buffers buffer 1024 compres include logs >> $LOG/$DB2SID.log
    Now i need to stop that on line backup, i am unable to see it in application level
    1. I try something like this, but doesn't work beacuase i can't know whats the process id, the command does not return results
    db2 list applications show detail | grep -i backup
    db2 list applications show detail | grep -i perform
    This command does nor return results, so i can't run a force application
    db2 "force application (25322)"
    2. I tried from OS, but theres a secuence and i can't determine how to kill that process
    ps -eaf | grep db2sysc
      db2Database  8519880  8388826   0 05:16:05      - 17:20 db2sysc 2
      db2Database  8585416  8454342   0 05:16:05      - 16:43 db2sysc 1
      db2Database  6160876  4653414 138 05:16:05      - 169:29 db2sysc 0
      db2Database  6947078  9830400   0 05:16:07      - 16:25 db2sysc 3
      db2Database  7536944  7668022   0 05:16:08      - 16:40 db2sysc 4
    so i can't kill the backup
    kill -9 ID
    Please help
    Thank you

    Hi,
    One option is to restart datbase instance however it needs a wise decision as it will have an impact on business operations (for production system DB).
    Are you using database tools like TSM, Veritas,or Legato etc? In that case killing (using the "force application" command) the backup process on db2 may result in hung database. It is not recommended!! .
    Thanks,
    Ambarish

  • Time Machine backup crawls, stops early. Logs show crash.

    Recently had a hard drive crash on me. Since then I've bought a new SSD to replace it, then migrated everything over to from my Time Machine backup.
    Now I'm getting frequent crashes, and notably, I'm unable to complete a fresh Time Machine backup. It doesn't show that there is a crash in the Time Machine interface, just stops. The logs, on the other hand, show a crash.
    I'm copying them here. If anyone can read through and help me parse it, that would be a great start. I'm running Mavericks on a 15" Macbook Pro, early 2011. Thanks.

    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
    Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Archive Files Log Backup in DB2

    Hi,
    I have archived files moved to /db2/TXT/log_archive from /db2/TXT/log_dir.
    I have very less space configured for /db2/TXT/log_archive file system.
    I don't have tape drive connected to production server to take backup of Archive log file to TAPE using DB13.
    Currently I am taking Database backup to DISK not to TAPE and would like to take the archive log files (Offline transaction logs) backup also to DISK.
    Please let me know the way out for this situation
    Thanks

    Hello,
    I think brtools for this (brarchive) is not usable for db2 because this is typical for oracle and not supported for db2. For more information about the log management see note 913481.
    Which DB2 version you´re using? If it is 9.5 the standard is an online backup includes logs so you´ve your archived log file in the online backup. If you´re using a DB2 version smaller then 9.5 you can include the parameter "include logs" in your backup command.
    Regards
    Olaf

    but for the comfirmation where and how i can see the contents of tape
    Point in advance from me
    Jayesh

    Hello Jayesh ,
    using db2tapemgr you can display the tape header DB2TAPEMGR.HEADER using
    db2tapemgr SHOW TAPE HEADER  <tape device>
    in "contents:" field you can see , which logfiles are on tape at which position .
    see
    [db2tapemgr - Manage log files on tape  command|http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9r5/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.db2.luw.admin.cmd.doc/doc/r0011704.html]

  • Update deactivated when DB2 transaction logs fill.

    Hi All,
    We are running SAP on DB2 Version9 on AIX platform.
    We notirced that when transaction logs get full, the Update workprocess gets deactivated. This happens in any usage type that we have.. SRM, ECC , BI.

    I have never heard of Update being deactivated for transaction log full at DB level. Update can be held up butwill it get deactivated.
    Is it possible that update gets deactivated if it not able to post the tranaction data in DB?
    Please let me know your ideas on this and how we can prevent this update from deactivating.
    Thanks and REgards,

    Hi,
    If you search for "SQL0964C The transaction log for the database is full" then some of solutions ask for to execute the below mentioned steps :-
    Use the following procedure to increase the size of the DB2 transaction log (logfilsiz):
    1. Determine the current log file size setting by issuing the command:
    su - <db2instance>
    db2 list db directory # to list the database name
    db2 connect to <databaseName>
    db2 get db config for <databaseName> and check LOGFILSIZ parameter.
    A sample output given from my test system :-
    Log file size (4KB)                         (LOGFILSIZ) = 16380
    Number of primary log files                (LOGPRIMARY) = 20
    Number of secondary log files               (LOGSECOND) = 40
    Changed path to log files                  (NEWLOGPATH) =
    Path to log files                                       = /db2/<dataname>/log_dir/NODE0000/
    Overflow log path                     (OVERFLOWLOGPATH) =
    Mirror log path                         (MIRRORLOGPATH) =
    First active log file                                   =
    Block log on disk full                (BLK_LOG_DSK_FUL) = YES
    Percent max primary log space by transaction  (MAX_LOG) = 0
    Num. of active log files for 1 active UOW(NUM_LOG_SPAN) = 0
    2. Increase the size of the log file size setting by issuing the command:
    db2 UPDATE db cfg for <databaseName> using LOGFILSIZ <new_value>
    Example:
    db2 UPDATE db cfg for <databaseName> using LOGFILSIZ 5000
    3. Stop the ibmslapd process.
    4. Issue the commands:
    db2 force applications all
    db2stop force
    5. Restart ibmslapd process.
    Once the db issue is resolved then your update work process must be running fine.

  • How to stop a key log

    how do you detect and stop a key log

    A keylogger is by far the least likely explanation for what happened. Probably the bank had an internal security breach for which it wants to blame you. However, if you want to be reasonably sure that your computer isn't compromised, see below.
    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
    Paste into the window of another application.
    Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
    to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • The log shipping restore job restores a corrupted transaction log backup to a secondary database

    Dear Sir,
    I have primary sql instances in cluster node and it is configured with log shipping for DR system.
    The instance fails over before the log shipping backup job finishes. Therefore, a corrupted transaction log backup is generated.how to handle the logshipping without break and how to know this transaction back is damaged.
    Cheers,

    Cheers,
    Well when failover happens SQL Server is stopped and restarted on other node. So when SQL Server is stopped and it is doing Log backup the backup operation would stop and there would be no trn files . The backup operation wont complete and hence no backup
    information would be stored in SQL Server MSDB and no .trn file would be generated.
    You can run restore verifyonly on .trn file to see whether it is damaged or not. Logshipping is quite flexible even if previous log backup did not complete the next wont be affected because SQL Server has no information about whether backup completed

  • Unable to stop the event logs on access point console

    Hi team,
    I have an AIR-LAP1131AG-E-K9 access point having ios c1130-k9w8-mx.124-21a.JHB1.
    When I am trying to take the console of it there are many logs generated like LWAPP ...Go join the controller, Discover controller etc. and the ap is unable to register to the controller(2112 with ios version 6.0.199.4). I'm trying to enter the command but there are many event msg generated....How do i stop this event log. I tried entering the command no debug all. but still there are many logs...
    I want to enter the the following commands
    #lwapp ap  ip address <ip addr>.
    #lwapp a pip default-gateway <gateway ip addr>
    #lwapp ap controller ip addr <controller ip>
    #wr me
    Revert me back on urgent basis
    Thanks in advance..

    Thanks Rashika,
    Now the access point got registered to the controller..This happened becuse of country Code..
    I have changed the country code to UK, Belgium it started working fine.
    Initially when it was IN the access point was not getting register..
    But now the problem which arised is that the user is unable to get authenticated to the radius server.
    Radius server is reachable and we have done every changes required for radius server authentication.
    Users are getting rejected.
    Customer is saying that the radius server is in IN domain and the WLC/access point is in UK,BE and hence the users are unable to connect..
    Is it so??
    Rply
    Thanks in advance...

  • Getting error while taking MAX DB trans log backup.

    Hi,
    I am getting error while taking trans log backup of Maxdb database for archived log through data protector as below,
    [Critical] From: OB2BAR_SAPDBBAR@ttcmaxdb "MAX" Time: 08/19/10 02:10:41
    Unable to back up archive logs: no autolog medium found in media list
    But i am able to take complete data and incremental backup through data protector.
    I have already enabled the autolog for MAX DB database and it is writing that log file directly to HP-UX file system. Now i want to take backup of this archived log backup through data protector i.e. through trans log backup. So that the archived log which is on the file system after trans log backup completed will delete the archived logs in filesystem.  So that i don;t have to manually delete the archived logs from file system.
    Thanks,
    Subba

    Hi Lars,
    Thanks for the reply...
    Now i am able to take archive log backup but the problem is i can take only one archive file backup. Not multiple arhive log files generated by autolog at filesystem i.e /sapdb/MAX/saparch.
    I have enabled autolog and it is putting auto log file at unix directory i.e. /sapdb/MAX/saparch
    And then i am using the DataProtector 6.11 with trans log backup to backup the archived files in /sapdb/MAX/saparch. When i start the trans backup session through data protector it uses the archive stage command as "archive_stage BACKDP-Archive LOGBackup NOVERIFY REMOVE" If /sapdb/MAX/saparch has only one archive file it will backup and remove the file successfully. But if /sapdb/MAX/saparch has multiple archive files it gives an error as below,

    ===========================================================================
    We are able to take offline, online backups but we are facing the above mentioned problem while taking archive log backup
    We are on ECC 6 / Oracle / AIX
    The kernel is latest
    The drive is working fine and there is no problem with the tapes as we have tried using diffrent tapes
    can this be a permissions issue?
    I ran saproot.sh but somehow it is setting owner as sidadm and group as sapsys to some of the br* files
    I tried by changing the permissions to oraSID : dba but still the error is the same
    Any suggestions?

    Means you have not initialized the medias but trying to take backups.
    First check how many medias you have entered in your tape count parameter for archive log backups (just go to initSID.sap and check)
    Then increase/reduce them to according to your archive backup plan >> Initialize all the tapes according to their name (same as you have initialized in initSID.sap) >> stick physical label to all the medias according to name >> Schedule archive backups
    It will not ask you for initialization as already you have initialized in second step.
    Suggestion: Use 7 medias per week (one tape per day)
    Regards,
    Nick Loy

  • RMAN never deletes archive log backups

    Hi all,
    I have same problem as some of you have already faced.
    I have some instances 10.2.0.4 running un archive log mode.
    I take full hot backup daily.
    I setup a rman script to backup and delete obsolete backups according to the following policy:
    CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY WINDOW OF 2 DAYS;
    CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 2;
    and then:
    run {
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL RMAN_BACK_CH01 TYPE DISK;
    BACKUP AS COMPRESSED BACKUPSET DATABASE FORMAT '/mnt/rman_202/pnetpres/db_pres_%U';
    CROSSCHECK ARCHIVELOG ALL;
    BACKUP AS COMPRESSED BACKUPSET ARCHIVELOG ALL FORMAT '/mnt/rman_202/pnetpres/al_pres_%U';
    CROSSCHECK BACKUP;
    DELETE NOPROMPT OBSOLETE;
    DELETE NOPROMPT EXPIRED BACKUP;
    RELEASE CHANNEL RMAN_BACK_CH01;
    crosscheck archivelog all;
    delete noprompt archivelog all completed before 'sysdate -2';
    DB full backups are being deleted, however archive logs backups are not deleted.
    There are no tablespaces in backup or offline mode.
    How can I know the reason why some archive log backups are kept ?
    Even I clear the policy and perform a crosscheck and delete, those are not marked as obsolete neither deleted from disk.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Fernando,
    This are the ouputpus of the commands:
    RMAN> REPORT OBSOLETE;
    RMAN retention policy will be applied to the command
    RMAN retention policy is set to redundancy 1
    no obsolete backups found

    For example the backups of archivelog from Feb 21st will never be deleted unless I force the delete.
    I'd like to understand why it happens :-)
    Thanks a lot,

    "BR157E Value 'QAS_TUE2_00' for option '-v' longerthan 10 characters"
