Storage maxed out on iPad due to photos & video
How can I remove all the photos on my iPad? Syncing is not working - so I must not fully understand how to do it to keep photos on MacBook but not on iPad. I'm going to assume that because the system is over limit w photos that's why my mail app will open and immediately close and why FB is going haywire. Suggestions? Do a full reset and clear everything?

I have a 13" mid 2011 MB Air 128gb and a Time Cap.802.11AC. My HD is maxed out because of 30GB of photo storage after migration to 10.10.3 Photos. I have reduced apps and files as much as possible so the only thing left is to move the photos. Please recommend an external drive compatible for connecting to my TC 802.11ac and moving the iPhoto Lib off my HD which will free approx 15 gbs. of space. I don't plan on using it for any other purpose so a small capacity drive will suffice. I know the "optimization" is supposed to adjust for this condition but I don't trust that assertion.I only have 2gb free space remaining.

If you really only want such a small capacity drive.. what about just buying a 32GB or 64GB USB memory stick.
You should still have a back up to the internal hard disk of the AC TC.
Or just buy a WD Passport.. don't waste your money buying 500GB as it is only a bit more to buy 1TB and a bit more again for 2TB.. For future use if you do buy a USB hard disk buy 2.5" type.. and buy 1TB or if the budget stretches 2TB.. -
My movie storage on my Ipad is maxed out. I tried to download Peter Pan for the kids but got prompted not enough storage. How do you remedy this?
If I delete the other movies, can I download them at a latter date again from my past purchases? I already paid for them on Itunes is my concern and don't want to loose them. I am thinking that is the only solution.Conserve space on iPad
You should download movies to iTune (computer) and only sync them to iPad as and when you want to watch them.
After watching the movies, you can unsync the movie to make space for the next one.

You can try this, but it appears as though the download went bad and you might very well have to restore your iPad to get rid of the "Other",
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
"Other" consist of non media content .... App documents and files, contacts, calendar entries, Safari bookmarks and history, notes, email messages and so on. It should not be bloating your iPad storage. -

Yes. That is exactly what you need to be doing on regular basis.
Import the photos to your computer.
Either via syncing with computer or using iCloud Control Panel (Windows) or iPhoto (Mac).

After you import the photos, delete them from Photo Stream/Camera Roll.
You can sync the photos you want on your iPhone back to the iPhone using iTunes. (These photos are not part of the iPhone backup)

IPad as a photo/video storage device?
I'd love to replace my netbook with an iPad for travel. I use the netbook for internet access and for storage of data from my camera. I know I can transfer images to an iPad via the camera connection kit. However, my camera also takes video in a wacky AVCHD format. I know there's no way to view this sort of unprocessed video on an iPad. However, is there a way to copy the file structure from the camera ? AVCHD, at least on my Panasonic GH1, uses a series of subfolders.
Is there a way to copy this data to an iPad via, I presume, the camera connector, and then sync it intact to a MAC?Apart from format compatability you may also want to consider resource management while on the road. It was only via a tip of a developer that I learned how to remove video's directly on the iPad (choose cover mode, keep the finger on the video you want to remove until a delete cross appears). For Photos the filemanagement is still very primitive, though. On the iPad you cannot delete events or albums at once, and if you've synced them with iTunes you cannot remove them at all. In short, you have to consider rather carefully beforehand how much space you will need for your data vault.

My iphone storage is full and I do not have enough storage for upgrades or to take more photos/videos, download apps, etc. I do have my photos/videos ON for icloud sync but not sure if I can safely delete them from my iphone to make room. And if I can delete them from my phone how do I access them on my icloud? I logged in for the first time and do not see where to access photos/videos?
You can't just store photos on icloud. They can be included as part of a backup or when using photo stream to sync photos from one device to another, but 1) photo stream keeps photos for up to 30 days after which they are deleted from the servers, and 2) never rely on a backup to icloud as a way of storing photos. (When photos are deleted from the device, they are no longer on recent backups, and older backups get deleted in short time.)
When it comes to photos, users should sync them to a computer for archiving. Then they can delete the photos from the device, as the computer will have copies.
Photos in backups on icloud cannot be viewed on icloud.

IPad full - storing raw video files...?

I have an 64Gb iPad which I like to take away with me on snowboarding holidays (in place of my 15" MBP3,1), which I copy video files onto from my GoPro Hero2 video camera’s SD memory card via the camera connection kit. After a little editing down in iMovie I'll upload the movie to Facebook or YouTube.
My unedited video files can be a few gig in size (if I leave the camera on for a whole run down the mountain (35 minutes is about 3.9Gb)), so the problem I'm having is that a few days or a weeks worth of video files can easily fill the iPad's 64Gb memory - if I'm away for longer this becomes a problem as I soon max out the iPads storage.
Uploading unedited files to Dropbox for future editing isn't really an option (as it takes hours and hours to upload even a single 3.9GB file over a typical chalet’s wifi connection, and file size limits aren’t great either), so I was wondering what other options people might suggest?
I have an iCloud account, but that possibly has the same transfer time/storage limitations as Dropbox?
Is there any way of copying files off of the iPad onto an external hard drive for storage? Would this require jail breaking the iPad? Any apps available?
Anyone have any other suggestions?
I know Apple want to push cloud services, but I’m surprised Apple haven’t provided a solution for this gigabyte storage problem for movie editing when wifi isn’t great…

when you did copy the whole file structure, you have to chose 'import from camera/open archive' …
I'm following the same workflow as you do:
• in Finder, without FCPX, on my extHDD I create a folder 'backup Zoo Day May' (or any other descriptive title)
• drag the whole file structure into it from SDcard to folder
• when finally finding the time for editing, in FCPX, import from camera, then open archive, then digging thru my drives to that folder
• FCPX notices this folder as a 'cam' and offers the usual import options, no need for that old (sorry, mish ) trick with dmgs -
So very excited bought iPad and new speakers today! Want to get all my music sorted as across iMac (G5), MacBook os 10.6 (maxed out ram and memory) and old iPod. Saw Match would be an option but can't use due to old OS so I can get the raw music library files but then what do I do to get all in one place? Any help appreciated.
A good route would be to attach a USB drive to the macbook. You can use the drive to assemble a copy of all of your music from your various devices. iTunes on the macbook can be used to create a new library, located on the USB drive, into which you can import all of your music.
Two major benefits:
1. From here you can run iTunes Match across your entire music collection; and
2. You will have created a full local backup of all of your music on the USB drive.
Once complete you will be able to access the music from any iDevice capable of running iTunes Match, Do remember as you add music it is important to maintain a local backup in order to keep your music safe. -
This driving e crazy as my whole storage is maxed out with photos which aren't visible in my camera roll. therefore as its also maxed out i cannot sync as itunes will not allow it. please help, has anyone else experienced this and found a solution

Has anyone maxed out their storage since iOS 7 update forces download of all email? I'm on my way to that end. I will have to delete my email accounts. Apple told me to do so and just use the providers' apps instead of iPhone accounts. This pretty much renders my smartphone useless. Not to mention I no longer like using my phone since this awful update. Not as intuitive or fun!

It sounds like it still has her information on it, so it might be efficient to navigate to Settings, then General, then Reset, then Erase All Content and Settings. You can then set up the phone again, using your information. This way the phone will be yours, officially, and her data and information will be removed.

My iPad and iPhone4s both state "NOT ENOUGH STORAGE" and can't backup due to not enough iCloud storage available in the cloud.
I have sync my phone to my pc using itunes, but I still get the msg on the phone - could it be that the ipad and phone both receive the same mail? I did go into Settings - icloud - and shut off Mail on phone - I will sync the iPad as well - both devices receive my mail as well as Acer pc.? thank you -Not having enough storage in your iCloud account isn't caused by using your iCloud email account on your device. It may be caused by having lots of email in your account though.
Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage to see what is taking up the space in your account. -

Found the issue. BAD "EXIF" file data. Spent a few hours searching for EXIF editor to modify.
Ended up using "PICTOMIO" to edit camera orientation data. Worked OK.
