I use a french keyboard with ponctuations that appears to the recipients as black diamond with ponctuation marks in the middle.
Is it something from my end?

• Strange characters when copy/paste from Word

Hi,
I have in Word u2018hellou2019 and when I paste it in the Notes of IR and save it, it turns into 018hello 019 so the apostrophes transform into these strange characters.
I checked with Notepad, Excel and Wordpad and this issue does not occur, only for Word.
Do you know why this happens ?
It should be a Word/IE setting as this issue does not occur on a Terminal Server. Only on usersu2019
workstations.
Thank you

Hi Shiva,
Some styles for font of rich text aren't be kept when I copy the content from Word 2013 and paste into a wiki page from SharePoint 2010/2013(even SharePoint 2007 like this
post) site as same as yours, it looks like a limitation.
As a workaround, we can publish the Word content as a Blog article in SharePoint site, then copy the content from the blog page to the needed SharePoint page, it will keep the rich text content format, you can have a try.

• Strange font when printing pdf with Reader X

Hello,
Who can help? I recently upgraded from Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 to Adobe Reader X. Since then, a strange problem occurs. When printing a pdf files to a printer, the font is changed. When viewing the file on the screen and printing them with version 9, everything is OK. The Arial font appears as it should. But when printing, a very ugly font type appears. The pdf files I use contain only a 'standard' Arial and Myriad Web font. This problem is very annoying.
Can somebody help? I use version 10.0.1

If you go the attached web page:
http://www.adobe.com/support/reader/
(http://www.adobe.com/support/reader/) , you
will see "download an older version" underneath
the Download Adobe reader.
If you click in this link (download an older version), you
can pick from version 8 and 9.
Since erasing version 10 and downloading version 9.4,
my problem has gone away completely.
As with you, I consider this a major problem. It certainly added
a lot of grief to my life when I could not trust my printer
output at all.
Hope this helps.

• Odd characters when printing PDFs from iMac (10.6.3)

When printing a PDF from the iMac (new 27") above, we get odd characters printed down the right margin of the page. These characters do not appear when viewing in either Acrobat Reader or Preview. This also does not happen when printing from Parallels. The printer is an HP Officejet 6000. Just to throw an added wrench into this, the problem does not happen when printing from a new Mac Mini (also 10.6.3) to the same printer. Any solutions?

Check whether the fonts installed and active are the same. In particular, look for font conflicts in Font Book, and resolve them so both computers are using the same versions.

• All-In-One Printer- bad characters when printing

I have an OfficeJet T45 All-In-One printer, and PC with Windows XP. When I want to print multiple pages the first one often times prints just fine, but the remaining pages do not print the right letters and characters- it's as if you are printing a foreign language with the numbers and letters all jumbled up. Sometimes it's just the numbers in a document that print like this but not the letters. I find this to happen most often when I use the command box at the bottom of the page that comes up when you request printing a document, rather than the pull-down menu item on the task bar that says print. I also have a Brother-brand printer and have had the same thing happen. I can print the document to another printer and have no problem. I have replaced the printer cable in the Brother printer but it still occurs. Any ideas?

• Problem with special characters (&) when printing using XSL-FO ...

Hello everybody !!
I have a problem when I want to print a Report with a link to a URL where the character "&" is present :
I want to have something like : src="file:///...webfile?param1=val1*+_&_+*param2=val2"
In my XSL-FO file, I wrote : src="file:///...webfile?param1=<xsl:value-of select="IDARTICLE"/>*+_<xsl:text>&</xsl:text>_+*param2=<xsl:value-of select="MARQUE"/>"
When I try this only with FOP, it works. However, when I upload the XSL-FO file to ApEx, it says my PDF file is corrupted when I want to open it.
What do I have to put the '&' symbol when I want to print the Report ??
Could anyone help me ??
Thanks by advance,
Pierre C.

I believe this relates to something I have actually found in my own testing.
It is probably due to the Template not being URLEncoded prior to transmission to the FOP processor.
I actually determined that special URL characters, like '+' and '&', are lost on transmission because the type of submission is POST with x-www-form-urlencoded, but the fields are not actually encoded entirely. The XML Element contents are encoded prior to transmission in order to preserve data.
Work around would be to URLEncode the template as it sits in the WWV_FLOW_REPORT_LAYOUTS. I have been able to successfully get around the problem by doing that.

• Strange behavior when printing a PO in SRM

Hi,
We just done a copy of environment and have upgraded the kernel. When we try to print a PO (from the output tab in the PO) we are getting the error Device Window default printer does not exist. Moreover when i went in debug i found that the error appears when the conversion exist SPDEV is called. There a select is carried out in table TSP03L with the value stored in the printer area. What is weird is that the entry exist in the table but the value stored on the screen seem to hold a special characters that makes its unable to find the correct entry.
Have you ever encounter this issue. Is it possible to define different character set for the back-end and the srm web pages?
Thank you for your help.

I found a solution. Rename the Text layer by adding a space before or after the numerals. Now the duplicates are named as the written text with a suffix increased by 1 for each additional duplicated layer.

• Strange characters when writing files

I've made a program using a FileWriter. The program is coded and compiled on a Linux PC. I'm using the filewriter to dynamically write HTML-lines. I use "\r" to write returns. On my Linux PC and on my Windows XP sp2 laptop it works fine. On the PC of a friend it does not work correctly. It sees the "\r" as an unknown character. The browser also comments on that (illegal character). She also has Windows XP sp 2 installed running explorer 6. What could be the solution for this problem? Should I recompile on my friends PC? It is strange though. We use the same Java version (1.5).

I don't know why you aren't using a print writer (with a println) method.
Regardless with text files you will always find that they will render correctly on one system and not another because different systems have different line seperators and some software is pretty crappy when it comes to display and gets it's knickers in a knot when it sees line seperators it doesn't like. i.e. Notepad.

• Dropped characters when printing

When I convert an InDesign file using Adobe PDF Presets - (High Quality Print), the PDF looks fine on the screen, but drops random characters if I print it on a desktop or network printer. How do I resolve this print issue?
Adobe InDesign CS6
Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.0

I believe Calibri should embed correctly, but your description of success in Word certainly makes it sound like a ligature problem. Are you exporting to PDF or Printing/Distilling?

• Strange issue when printing PDF's

This problem started the other day. Whenever I scan to a pdf file or Save as from Illustrator the PDF looks fine (using the High Quality Setting) but prints out like a rastered high contrast jpeg image (with artifacting around all the edges of text and images). I thought this was a Distiller issue and checked all my settings. No Luck.
This morning I opened and tried to print a clients file and same thing happened. The problem occurs to both black & White laser printer as well as Epson R2400
I am using CS3 Updated to version 8.1.4 this morning on a windows vista machine.I would reinstall acrobat but when I had to do that a previous time, Vista and Acrobat would not play nice and I could never get Acrobat to install completely until I reformatted my whole drive and started from scratch. I do not have the time or want to try that again.
Could the preference file be bad? And where is that located?
Thanks,

This is not a scanning resolution factor and I have been scanning this way for years. These scans are not photos but documents. This problem just started. And as I said before, the problem also occurs when doing a save as from Illustrator, as well as supplied files from clients, so the scanning process has nothing to do with it. I just can't get them to print right.

• Strange characters when activating smartform (######)

Hi all,
im having a problem with long text´s and smartforms, and I've done a simple smartform with a simple text saying Hello World and when im activating the samrtform my text transforms in
Hello World#######################.
The Number of '#' is increases when i activate....
Iv tried to change the output page format and styles but the problem remains
Any suggestions ?
Thank and regards
Luis Constantino

Hi,
Please check whether there are spaces entered after the text because the printer would convert sometimes the spaces into #s.
Also check the printer with which you are trying to check the output.

• Bullets change characters when printing

I'm having a weird bullet issue. I'm using InDesign CS6 and have a paragraph style with bullets that looks fine on screen, fine as a PDF, and fine when I print in color. But when I print in black and white all of the bullets change to the number 9. It doesn't matter if I print from the file or from the PDF, the bullets all come out as 9s. Anyone have anything like this ever happen?

How do I do that? I did run Yasu but had the same problem afterwards. I'm using Font Agent Pro for my font management.
