Strange Entries in System and Console Logs

I have some strange entries in my system and console logs. In the system log, I regularly see these entries:

In my console log, I regularly find these entries:
2006-02-25 09:23:24 -0600
2006-02-24 21:07:30.530 loginwindow[803] FSResolveAliasWithMountFlags returned err = -43
On occasion, I find something like this in my console log:
Assert failed: /Users/dave/dev/flash/player/FlashPlayer/platform/mac/plugins/../../../core/spl ay.cpp:7105
I admit to being something of a novice with the Mac, so I am not sure what to make of these entries, though I never noticed anything like this on my eMac, or on my prior iMac. Also, on the entry above, there are no users named dave on my Mac.
Has anyone else noticed this, and can anyone shed any light on what these messages mean?

SBBOD and Console Log

The "scrolling beach ball of death" continues to inhabit every program on my laptop. After finding an article on trouble-shooting, I found the following logs inside the Console Log. But, I have no idea how to read what they mean. They were posted about the time that the SSBOD occurred the last time.
Can anyone assist in interpreting if these logs may point to some cause of the SBBOD?

Hi,
First off, the network tab does not work in weinre with the exception of XHR. The resource tab is limited to Session Storage, Local Storage, and Databases. From what I know these are fact-of-life limitations of the tool.
I just tested the console tab and console logging for a local page and it's working fine for me with our hosted version of weinre. If you're not seeing logging messages can you describe about your environment and how you're testing? Can you provide a test asset that's not displaying console log messages?

Regarding the reply for the second one (Nothing to do with Chinese), I noticed there are several similar issues found in this forum, and it seems no response could solve my that problem. The related methods and classes were also well check, as well as the parameters put.

Deleting hidden folders and console.log files

I have heard that OS X logs activity of various programs and Applications in hidden folders/files.
Can someone please tell me how to view and delete this information in the hidden folder(s) without compromising my OS X system?
Also, how do I delete information in the console.log folders?

The invisible files & folders are hidden for a reason!
If you don't know exactly what you are doing, you shouldn't muck about with them!
The Mac OS X is very good at protecting us from being our own worst enemy.
Your Mac runs Cron Scripts daily, weekly, & monthly, if the Mac is left on 24/7.
If you prefer, you may also choose to run them manually.

I put my Display to sleep after 15 minutes of inactivity, but never Sleep or seldom Shutdown My iMac, and my Console folder, within the Logs folder is only 276 KB.

System and security logs

1. Login, Clear Logs and log off events in Windows 2003 when does this happen and what are the IDs for
these events ? what is the system login?
2. In an event when administrator account and password are shared by more than one person, is it is possible
to prove who cleared the security logs?

DW 8.0.2 Novell Server System and FTP log-in and Password encryption

I think I have found a bug. Dreamweaver 8.0.2, Windows XP,
and using Novell server system. In the Novell system using Dynamic
Local User, at each log in to Novell the user is assigned a unique
SSID each and every time. Unfortunately Dreamweaver uses the SSID
for the encryption key for Login and Password for the settings in
an FTP Site. So these saved settings break at each log in to
Novell, and give an error at the launch of Dreamweaver when it
attempts to log into the FTP site set up.
Dreamweaver saves the FTP Site Login and Password settings
at: HKCU\Software\Macromedia\Common\Sites\-Site0\Keychain
TechNote 3491671c does not fix the problem as it only fixes
the settings location - which is fine.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Strange entries in lighttpd access log -- help!

I run a lighttpd server at home. I just use it for working with some scripts, and sharing stuff with my friends. I have a dynamic IP address, so I use dyndns for getting a hostname.
Today I noticed some strange entries in the lighttpd access log:

What is going on here? Some kind of spambot? Note that I don't have the sendmail service installed, and port 25 is not forwarded on my router. Is this a threat and how do I deal with this?

This thing is trying to send a POST action to another site. Is there any way I can restrict POST actions to my own domain?

Strange console.log messages: Here 0, Here 1, etc.

I just opened Console.app to check the logs for something, when I saw a very strange list of messages in console.log. There are no time stamps or process IDs listed with these messages; they just look like this:

You get the idea. This list goes on for over 7000 lines! Based on the time stamps of the messages before and after this list, I can see that this happened sometime during a 2-hour period this morning, and no more have appeared in the last 30 minutes.
Since the messages have stopped, I am more curious than I am worried. However, I would really like to know what caused this to happen. Does anyone have any clue? Has anyone else seen this happen?

Well, although I still have no idea what the messages mean, I've discovered what is causing them. It's the result of a conflict between two applications: NeoOffice and ShoveBox. This morning, I inadvertently tried to assign a keyboard shortcut in NeoOffice that already had been assigned to the "Send to ShoveBox" option in the Services menu. Apparently, ShoveBox does not understand input from NeoOffice, because if I select a cell in my spreadsheet, and press Command-Shift-E (the "Send to ShoveBox" shortcut), a long string of those "Here" messages suddenly appears in console.log. If I use that keyboard shortcut in another application—like with text selected in TextEdit—the selection is properly sent to a new text note in ShoveBox.
I guess the reason, there were so many lines of those messages this morning, is that I kept trying to use the shortcut when nothing was happening in NeoOffice. The strange thing is that I've successfully used that exact shortcut in NeoOffice many times before, even with ShoveBox installed.
So, I will just pick a different keyboard shortcut for what I want to do in NeoOffice, and go about my merry way. I'm happy to know my computer isn't sending out "Here" messages to some malicious server, or anything like that.

Can I delete my Console Log and be safe ?

for some reason this file "console.log.2 " is 31.33 GB in size
Would it be safe to delete it ?

Hi Greg, that is huge! Yes, you can delete the log files. I'd leave the 501 Folder and console.log but delete the other contents. (Also be sure all that is in there are log files.)

Getting a failed service every time I boot that I can't seem to fix. Here is the error message:

No console.log files under Leopard?

I just wanted to look inside an old console.log file from a view days ago, but I can't find it under Mac OS X 10.5 anymore. Will the Console Messages don't be saved in files under Leopard?
Under Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger the files where saved in /Library/Logs/Console/501/console.log (and console.log.0, console.log.1, console.log.2, ...)

Well, from Leopard's own Console help:
The console and system log messages are stored in the log database in the ASL.db file. The console log messages come from applications run by the current user.
So no more textfiles, it would seem, and some Unix wizardry will probably be needed to extract and save the console log text from the binary database file before it is automatically rotated out.

Console Log files taking up 7gb of space.

I am trying to clear up some space on an old eMac. I have come accross two log files one called console.log.0 which is taking up 1 gb, and console.log.3 which is taking up 5.8gb. Both of these files are located in Macintosh HD/Libary/Logs/Console/emac (emac is the username). What are these files for, and is there anyway I can take back this space?
