Strange item in desktop dropdown list after CS4 installed

Since installing CS4, there is a new item in the dropdown list when I
right-click on my desktop
The new item is "Adobe Drive CS4". It has two items showing under it. They
are "Connect to", and "New Project". The "New Project" is greyed out, even
when Photoshop CS4 is running.
Can anyone advise me what this is all about?? CS3 is still installed, but I
will be removing it shortly. But it did not create any such item in the
list.
Ron Hirsch

OK, so I now know what it is. But why is it there in the dropdown listing?
If I click on "connect to", a small window opens, And, this last time that
the window opened, it actually had text in it explaining what you did
explain. Previous times had nothing in the box explaining anything.
I don't feel I have any need for Version Cue or Adobe Drive CS4, but I see
no way to change anything there. I did not install Verson Cue when I
installed CS4. I don't see it in my Windows services listing, nor in the
list of many startup items. I'd like to uninstall Adobe Drive CS4. I see a
listing the XP programs window of "Adobe Drive CS4". But I see no path to
get rid of that. Is there a path to do so?
A new search in Google turned up the following
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Any of you who have installed Adobe CS4 will know you will get a context
menu entry for Adobe CS4 Drive, even if you chose not to install the actual
program so effectively the entry is useless. After some googling and
experimenting found two ways to remove it.
1. Install & Uninstall
Install Adobe CS4 Drive using the installer then uninstall it. This seems to
get rid of it.
2. Manual Remove
Open Regedit and delete these two entries.

I'll probably do the Registry editing

  • Dummy parent item that displays dropdown list in smartphones

    Does anyone know how to create a dummy parent that will display the child items in the dropdown list? Or do you have to create an actual page for all parent items? I don't have a smartphone so I can't experiment (is there an online site that provides this service, similar to the no-defunct Device Central?)...

    Does anyone know how to create a dummy parent that will display the child items in the dropdown list?
    What do you mean by a parent item? Do you want to create a navigation or just a simple dropdown list? If it is a dropdown list, why are you talking about an 'actual page' for it? Please elaborate your question to help us help you. Thank you.

  • How to have a unique list of items for separate dropdown lists?

    Software: Acrobat X (10) pro on Windows
    I want to create a pdf form in which all dropdown lists are populated with the same list of items to choose from. If I use the same field name for all drop down lists, the item selected in one dropdown list is automatically selected in all lists. This is not what I want. I wish to be able to select a different item in each & single dropdown list. I could of course maintain separate item lists for each field (using separate field names) but what a waste of time!... especially as the field lists would then have to be updated separately. There's got to be a better way to do it.
    Any idea how this could be achieved? Thank you.

    Here's a sample script that first defines a list of items in an array and uses it to update a number of dropdowns, name dd1...dd10:
    // Populate an array with the list items
    var aItems = ["-- Select a state --", "Alaska", "Hawaii", "Washington", "Oregon", "Idaho", "Montana", "Wyoming", "Nevada", "Colorado", "Arizona", "New Mexico"];
    // Loop through the dropdowns...
    for (var i = 1; i < 11; i += 1) {
        // ...and set the list items
        getField("dd" + i).setItems(aItems);
    That's all there is to it. This can be run from the Mouse Up event of a temporary button that you create, the interactive JavaScript console (Ctrl+J), etc.

  • Strange yellow color cast after CS4 install

    I just ran into a strange problem helping a friend install PS CS4. Everything seemed to go fine, but now all of a sudden his images are displayed with a strong yellow tint. I don't mean a slight color cast, I mean a STRONG yellow tint. The images appear the same in Photoshop, the Bridge, and even ACR. I re-calibrated the monitor (Gretag McBeth) and generated a new profile just be sure, but that wasn't it. The same images viewed in other applications (Picassa, opened in a browser, etc.) on the same computer display normally. This appears to be only Photoshop related. What's also interesting is that CS3 now exhibits the same problem after the CS4 install.
    I reviewed all the color settings and workflow, and nothing is out of the ordinary. The Nikon raw images were imported via ACR, and opened in Photoshop with ACR workflow options set for 16 bit/Adobe RGB. Photoshop working space is Adobe RGB. I also installed the 11.0.1 update. But here are what may be a couple of clues. First, it's not just the image files that look bad. The colors are awful in the color picker in the toolbox. The entire color picker slider is almost all yellow and orange. And here's another good one. We tried importing some new raw images via the photo downloader in Bridge. With the downloader in Advanced mode, the image previews before download show the same yellow cast. But after I click the Get Photos button, the image colors appear correct as they flash on for a couple of seconds while being downloaded. This has got to be a big clue for someone. What's different about how the image is displayed during that two second preview during the actual download?
    The PC hardware is a 3.2Ghz Pentium 4 Dell tower (2G ram) running XP Pro w/SP3, with a nVidia GeForce 7800 graphics card, and the screen resolution is 1024x768. I'm thinking maybe a graphics card issue or corrupted system profiles, but I'm a Mac and he's a PC so my PC troubleshooting skills are limited.
    Has anyone else seen a problem like this before?? Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Add a extra item to a dropdown list in Creator 2

    In Creator 2,
    I created a dropdown list and bound it to a database.
    The dropdown is working fine and displaying the values
    from the database. I would like to know is there anyway
    to add extra items to the same dropdown list without
    adding it to the database, like an option "ALL" or a
    default option which could be blank.
    Thanks in advance.
    Daniel

    Please see this thread for instructions on how to add an "All" option to the top of a drop down based on a database:

  • Not All Items Appearing In Dropdown List

    Hi,
    You have a newbie here. I am trying to populate a dropdown list in a JSP with the following code, but not all the records are being displayed (approximately 4900 records are displayed). The Submit button that follows this Select tag is not being displayed, nor are any error messages being encountered. The last Option tag is incomplete. Any clues?
    Thanks,
    Neil.

    out.println("<option value=\"" vGSDB + "\"selected>" + vName + " **" + vGSDB + "**</option>+

    +}+
    +i++;+
    +}+
    +%>+
    +</select>{color}+

    You have 4900+ records?? I'd say there was some exception being thrown somewhere, either you're running out of memory or something. Your response isn't coming completely which indicates that your output was interrupted but since it had been committed, the server couldn't redirect to an error page or display the exception or stack trace.
    Check your logs, there'll definitely be something there.

  • How to display configuration items as a dropdown list

    Hi,
    When delivering a repository manager, we need provide a configuration archive (cc.xml and co.xml). For an attribute cc.xml, can we display it as a dropdown list and let user choose the value?
    For example, in cc.xml:
    <attribute name="Protocol" type="string" default=""/>
    I want do display a label "Protocol" before a dropdown list, in which the user can choose from "HTTP" and "HTTPS".
    Normally the user can only fill in the blank of the attribute, but I wanna let user choose the value.
    Thanks,
    Ray

    Hi,
    I think you cannot change the label on thy fly. The internationalization on other hands should work.
    Let's say you have in your <b>XXXX.cc.xml</b> this:
    <b><attribute name="param_protocol" type="enum"/></b>
    Create in the folder where you have <b>XXXX.cc.xml</b> file a folder <b>bundles</b>. inside this folder, inside this folder another folder <b>classes</b>. Here create a file <b>XXXX.properties</b> (XXXX is from your config name). So you will get this structure:
       XXXX.cc.xml
       bundles
          classes
             XXXX.properties
    Inside this file you define labels for your properties, in this case:
    lbl.param_protocol=Protocol
    In fact I haven't tried it in another language, I suppose that creating <b>XXXX_de.properties</b> shold do the trick for DE language and so on.
    Hope this helps,
    Romano

  • Unable to install Adobe Acrobat 8.1.0 after CS4 install

    I have no idea why this could be, but I have recently installed Adobe CS4 Web Standard without Dreamweaver, then Dreamweaver CS5 edition on a clean install and as I was about to install Adobe Acrobat 8.1.0 from an installation CD I got this message:
    "Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed.  Setup will now terminate.
    Thing is... I never installed Adobe Acrobat on this machine after the rebuilt, and I can't see it in the listing  of my installed programs, so why do I get this message?
    I would like to know, what can I do that Adobe Acrobat 8.1.0 continues with the install.
    Are there applications in CS4 that send this false alarm of Acrobat already being on the machine?
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Have you looked at the add/remove programs list to be sure there is no part of Acrobat there? You might use a registry cleaner (MS or CC typically) to clean out any related issues for Acrobat. I agree with you conclusion if AA has never been installed, but CS4 may have been the culprit in the installation process.

  • How to delete an item from the addItem list after it is entered in a field

    I have a form which contains a list of names. My problem is, I would like the form to remove a name after it is entered so that on the next row that name does not appear. For example, I have on the preopen event:
    Name.addItem("Andrew")
    Name.addItem("Bernie")
    Name.addItem("Chris")
    Name.addItem("Doug")
    and I select  'Bernie", I would like the next row to only have 3 names excluding the one I previously selected. And in the end, it should have no names if all four names have been selected, or should display a message.
    Is it possible to do this in LC. either in javascript or Formcalc.
    Thanks.

    I have checked the above example and it works perfectly for static fields. My problem is that the form I am using using employs the addinstance script to add new rows. How do you script for the new rows to not include names that have already been selected.
    In the example, I would like for new rows to exclude names that have previously been selected.
    Thanks.

  • Solution to High CPU Utilisation With *Nothing* Running After CS4 Install on Mac OS 10.6.1.

    I'm posting this in case someone else has the same problem. (If anyone else even notices the problem.)
    Another possible title [to help with people searching for the solution] "Computer runs slow after installing CS4 on Mac OS 10.6.1 Snow Leopard"
    I just purchased CS4 Design Premium and have been trying to install it on a fresh install of Snow Leopard (10.6.1) and whilst everything appears to be fine, my CPU sits at 60% with *every* application closed. The instant I uninstall CS4 the CPU drops back to 1-2%. I've conducted this test twice already---that is installed CS4 on a fresh Snow Leopard twice over.
    To be clear this isn't resolved by restarting, as is the solution to one known bug mentioned in the CS4 read-me.
    I did eventually solve the problem. The tech support guy at Adobe was useless, even though I told him that I had re-installed twice and once re-installed Snow Leopard, he had me run the Adobe cleaning utility thingy. Three hours of re-installing (for the third time) and another 700MB of updates (from my precious download quota) and I was exactly back to where I started.
    Then when the updates for Version Cue and Adobe Drive failed to install, it got me thinking. Looking at the box it states that Java is needed for Version Cue Server. That being a unique requirement and the update for that particular program failing, sent me on the search. I eventually found the directory containing Version Cue Server and moved it. I next planned to restart but I didn't have to, the instant I moved the directory my CPU usage plummeted from 60% to 1%.
    I've been working on this for days and all I had to do was issue the command.
    mv /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/Adobe\ Version\ Cue\ CS4/Server ~/Disabled
    *sigh*
    David.

    Thank you for posting this, I just spent the last 72 hours trying to figure out why my macbook was suddenly burning up my lap (and my battery) without any visible processes in Activity Monitor. This is a pretty major bug (and not the first major one by Adobe on mac) but I am just glad that I didn't need to do a full reinstall. Getting rid of Version Cue takes care of the problem straight out. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, hopefully others will find this before trying to track down other sources.

  • What's the proper way to remove CS3 after CS4 install without screwing up Acrobat?

    During CS4 installation, I had some serial number issues with Acrobat. It turns out that even though Acrobat is part of the creative suite, the licensing for it is different. I've got all of that sorted out now and CS4 is successfully installed. Now I need to remove CS3, but I don't want to remove any shared components that would disable or affect Acrobat.
    Should I just remove the CS3 folders in my Applications folder or should I use the CS3 Uninstaller?

    I can't run any of the CS3 apps because of the Acrobat licensing issue that I mentioned earlier. Therefore, they're just taking up hard drive space now. I also have a suspicion that CS4 and CS3 might be sharing resources? Can't quantify that but quitting CS4 apps takes forever and shutting down the machine after quitting CS4 apps takes even longer.

  • Problems Installing CS3 after CS4 install.

    About 3 weeks ago or so i downloaded the beta for Dreamweaver CS4. And just a couple of days ago i tried to reinstall Flash CS3 from my CS3 Master Suite and i got this message.
    Component install failed. The original installation media has been moved or deleted. Please replace the media at its original location: C:\Documents and Settings\Lucas\Desktop\AdobeCS4\Dreamweaver CS4 Beta\payloads\AdobeALMAnchorService2-mul\AdobeALMAnchorServices2-mul.msi
    Right now i am trying to uninstall the DW CS4 but has anyone ran into a problem like this or have any advise on how i can fix this?

    >SURELY that is implied?
    Absolutely not! My guess is that the average user knows what "beta" means and the implication not to use it for real work, just in case. If they can take the time to warn you about that then they could at least let us know of potential problems in simply removing the damn thing. In fact, not so much removing it, I can live with it on my machine, it's the realization that it can seriously interfere with further installations - of their own software! If I remember correctly the beta release was displayed prominently on the Adobe homepage - "BE THE FIRST TO TRY IT!" or something similar, the implication, to my mind, is that it's safe to download.
    With my fingers crossed, I hope that my upgrade to CS4 will be trouble free so it may not be a problem, but it obviously is to Lucas at the moment. I've downloaded numerous betas and removed them without any problem and assumed Dreamweaver CS4 would be the same. As I said, the average user thinks of the bugs being in the operation of the program. I now know that there's much more risk involved (with Adobe at least) and I'll be more cautious in the future.

  • Windows running programs after CS4 install ?

    Hope this is the right place for this....I've noticed there are 6-8 new programs running in task manager on windows startup after installing CS4 webdesign premium ?  Are all these necessary...or can I delete them from starting on windows startup...?...for instance one of these is Adobe Version Cue CS4 ?
    If I disable these new startups...will it negatively affect CS 4 program operations...or will the simply start upon the individual apps launch ?
    Running XP Pro sp3 and all CS4suite apps up to date
    Thanks, TR

    If I don't need it I don't want it ?  What is Version Cue and what does acrotray do ?
    Other startup programs that are now running:
    Acrobat Assistant 8.0     -  acrotray.exe
    Adobe Acrobat Speed Launcher   - acrobate_sl.exe
    Adobe_ID0ENQBO     -   versioncuecs4tray.exe
    Adobe.Acrobat.ContextMenu   -  contextmenu.dll
    Adobe Drive CS4   =  adfsmenu.dll
    Adobe LM Service  -   adobelmsvc.exe
    Adobe Version Cue CS4   =  versioncuecs.exe
    I think that's it.  Will CS4 run ok with these disabled or not loading at system startup ?
    Thanks

  • Browser not supported after CS4 Install

    I installed CS4 Design Premium today and have been having browser trouble since. I'm getting alerts from multiple websites that state that my browser is not supported or that my system does not meet minimum requirements (veer.com, netflix.com). I have used all of these sites in the past with no problems on the exact same computer and system.
    I'm receiving this message in both Firefox 3.0.10 and Safari 4.0. I would really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
    In case it matters, I'm on a MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz with 4GB RAM, OS 10.5.7.

    I ran into a similar issue recently. Samsung HDTV used to work fine via HDMI from my Mac. After upgrade to Mavericks, the TV would just show a "Mode not supported" message.
    Simple fix did it for me:
    * Connect the television to the Mac via HDMI cable as I normally would.
    * Power on TV and set to correct channel.
    * Go to System Preferences|Displays
    * Click the "Gather Windows†" button, which brought a hidden, 2nd Display window onto my Mac's screen.
    * Using this 2nd window, I was able to configure the resolution for the Samsung HDTV; in my case, 1080p.
    † Note the "Gather Windows" button is only visible when multiple displays are connected and detected - which is the case when you see this "Mode not supported" message.
