Strange things happen: mail disappears/appears/is shown wrong

Strange things happen: mail appears in "drafts"/mail disappears after "send"/title-content doesn't match
I'm having some Problems with mails that get worse and worse
First thing I remember is, that I found mails in "Drafts" that weren't drafts, but just mails I received or mails I sent.
They were kind of aliasses of the original. Deleting them in "Drafts" deleted the original in its Mailbox too.
Re-indexing Mail (removing the envelope.index files etc.) fixes it, but it reappears very soon
Next thing:
When I send an email, it happens sometimes, that it is not send (no sending sound, no copy in the "Sent"-Folder). It just "disappears"
Re-indexing Mail fixes this: When Mail is ready with reindexing, it sends those messages (kind of funny, when I do this reindexing after some weeks... kind of...) - but it will reappear
The third thing happens more seldom:
When I klick on the emails name in the list, I get another Mail shown in the Previewbox. Doubleklicking the mail shows the wrong mail too.
Re-indexing fixes this, - but it will reappear
Well after having re-indexd my Mail library 10 times this week, I want another solution for this...

1 Pop account,
1 .mac account (i don't use)
Mail, after being sent, is moved to "Sent"mail never to be deleted
Mails Spam Filter is active (and working fine, by the way)
about 80 Mailboxes for old Mails I got, partially nested
More than 4000 Mails in the whole Database
Things I've already done:
Reindexing mail, as I already wrote (Quit mail, removing the files "Envelope Index" and "Envelope Index-1", and the folder starting with "Mac-", then start Mail again, that tells me to klick "ok" for reimporting the mail)
I deleted a bunch of emails with attachements, so there are just a few with attachment now.
I emptied the "Sent" folder and put those old emails in 3 Folders (each of them is containing about 500 mails now)

This is not a security risk - a setting change you should make.
1. Take a look in settings - i message and see what the 'recieve at' addresses are declared. If you do not want to see phone messages on the pad, clear that number out of there - and just use your e mail address.
2. Since you used to have an i phone, that device is likely still registered go to your i tunes account and de register the device.

The answer is very simple: You were not the original owner of the phone. Target sold you a phone that had been returned. You can verify the date of the original sale here: Apple - Support - Check Your Service and Support Coverage. I suspect you will find that the warranty expiration date is not one year from the date that you bought it.

Help! Strange things happen when I use Get Info command

Hi, I have updated iTunes for 7.7.1, and since then a strange thing happen: whenever I pick a Smart Playlist, select a song and use the Command-I, the Get Info screen appears for a few seconds, and then the "Cancel" button is highlighted, as if I had clicked on it, and the screen is closed.
Funny thing is that I am not clicking the "Cancel" button, but it happens automatically after a few seconds, and only with songs in the Smart Playlists. I haven't found a thing about it at the Discussion forums, can anyone help?

In iTunes, right click on the file and Get Info.
Make sure it is marked Remember Playback Position.

Very strange thing happening

I developed a spreadsheet today and had a very strange thing happen while I was working in Numbers.
Every minute or so Stuffit Expander would open and expand a file and place it on my computer. It started out as a quick flash on the screen and would be gone in an instant. I saw that it was being made by Stuffit so I opened up Stuffit and went into Prefs and told Stuffit to ask before expanding the file. This, then, stopped the process so I could see what was going on.
A folder was make called "[file name].numbersFolder"
Inside the folder are two files called: "buildVersionHistory.plist" and "index.xml". Along with these files is a "QuickLook" folder that has a thumbnail of the spreadsheet I am working on inside.
The xml file is large and has several URL's embedded including the Apple developer site (http://developer.apple.com/namespaces/sfa).
Can anyone tell me what is going on here.

If I recall, this is StuffIt expanding what it thinks is a ZIP file. It is correct, in a way, but you don't want it to do that. I do not have StuffIt so I do not know what settings it has. Hopefully it has one along the lines of "automatically unzip zip files" and you can turn it off.

Neo2+OC- Strange things happen to my mouse at teatime?

Strange things happen to my mouse at teatime when the room heating kicks and the ambient temperature of the room increases approx 5° (system temp of 49 from 44 reported by SpeedFan).
To compensate the fans in the Antec power supply automatically speed up as well as the case fans - which Antec also controls. When I reboot under these conditions the Logitech wireless mouse (USB Navigator) hangs in Windows XP. I can recover the mouse by removing the USB connection and reseating. This does not happen during every boot but always at teatime. Has anybody else had this effect?

I updated bios to v1.37 and still same effect. I had a thought that the problem could show itself somehow through voltages and temperatures measured - and performed a comparison check in bios, CoreCell and SpeedFan and unleashed another problem.
The following table shows what I got (different readings from different applications ):

The following differences stand out +12v and +3.3v. The Antec power supoply regulates these to within 3%, so can anybody explain the above differences. Also why does SpeedFan provide completely wrong readings on the SMbus. Is my motherboard or the power supply at fault. Has anybody else seen similar?

Strange thing happens when smplayer use xv-intel video overlay

i started to notice some strange thing happens when i turn on the desktop composting effect on kde,smplayer's video show blue colors,and smplayer menu has a thick blue line surrounding it.
whatever other windows i dragged over the smplayer show the same effect,which is very annoying. i figured it's something with the video output.
the default video output is xv-intel video overlay,so i changed it to xv,gl,etc,and things become normal,xv-intel textured video works fine,too.
of course if i turn off the compositing effect,everything will be ok.
so it's because there are conflicts between the desktop effects and the xv-intel video overlay output?

Strange Things Happening to my iMac

I've had some very odd things happen to my iMac over the last 3 days - does anyone recognise this pattern or have comment on the correct response.
I've had a series of hangs, as well as incidents where the OS looses information regarding Time machine backup drive, the time machine exclusion information, spotlight gets hung indexing the drive.'
I've noticed a pattern of error messages and report as follows, which seems to happen, sometimes sevral hours apart, other times 20 minutes apart.

Disk0 is your internal HD.
Try running this: Intel-based Macs: Using Apple Hardware Test. Run the Extended tests (that may take an hour or more, depending on how much RAM you have). Write down any error code(s) it shows.

Strange things happening with fonts?!?

Some strange things are happening with fonts. The following
picture shows part of the problem. This is only occuring with IE 6.
It doesn't happen in IE 7 or the current firefox. The information
in the silver and white box is the problem. This is being pulled
via spry and being displayed via a div tag. It shouldn't be bold
faced. No code is telling it to bold face, yet it is.

Are you using a fade effect on it? If so, that's an IE bug,
which has several workarounds which include setting the background
color on whatever it is your are fading, or making sure that after
the effect is done (via a finish function) making sure to remove
any opacity related style on the element you just faded in.

Some strange things happened this morning.

just wanted to ask if anybody expirienced comparable things in the last time:
Yesterday i hat no /bin/shutdown, so i couldnt shutdown... it was like *gone*. So i killed my PC the hard way. Today i was booting again, and the nvidia module couldn't be loaded for some reason... so i had to remove and reinstall it. Then, my centerim was gone, totally! Reinstalled it - no problems. Whats up with me?

/ isnt full, there is like 4gb free space...
and i made a mistake, /sbin/shutdown was there, but when i typed "shutdown -h now" it says that "shutdown" is an unknown command. (i just had that error again!). root uses bash as default shell... it didnt work in tty, it didnt work in urxvt, this time i typed /sbin/shutdown -h now and that worked... but its still not like it should be. And it doesnt explain the random corruption of packages...

Same problem with any other files out of /sbin... the strange thing is, in /etc/profile, $PATH looks like this:
/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/opt/bin:/home/jan/bin:/usr/local/bin
but echo $PATH gives me:
./:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin

Strange things happens while sharing i-Calender posts.

In our familiy we have four iPhone4 and one iPad. Today we tried to ad a post in the calender of the iPad (using mom's Apple-ID) and it worked well. The post was shown in both the iPad and her iPhone. But, when trying to share it to dad's iPhone it didn't worked good at all. The post did nog show up at all in dad's iPhone but in the daugthers iPhone. And also in her iCloud-calender at www.icloud.com. We made lots of tries... Everytime the same result.
When changing dad's mail (he is having three mails conected to the Apple-ID) it worked well. Nothing by the daugthers iPhone nor her web-version. And perfectly at dad's iPhone.
Another intresting thing is that the daugther could not at all send invitations to dad.
Anyone know what to do?

After about an hour or two's use my dock disappears and becomes inaccessible, the cmd - tab function to change between apps stops working, my background stops working (I have it on picture rotation thing) and when I try to shut down I have to use the power button as it will no longer shut down.
This is getting rather tedious.
I have searched every where on the net for an answer.
I have tried a number of things to fix it such as:
1. Relaunching the finder
2. fsck when booting in command - s mode.
3. Installing combo updates for x.9 and x.10
4. Repairing disk permissions
I don't want to have to reformat if it all possible because I have alot of settings that I don't want to loose and I also don't have the time to sit and reconfig everything.
If anyone can help or point me in the direction to solving this problem it will be muchly appreciated.
For the while I shall sit and wait for it to happen again and reboot.
Oh yeh. My setup is
12" iBook PPC G4 1.33 GHz
OS X 10.4.10
1 GB DDR SDRAM
60 GB Harddrive

i probably should add you need to be patient with the procedure, it takes a little bit of time. so don't get in a hurry.
also, if i remember correctly, at the end, it will either restart your computer or prompt for a restart, and when it does restart it will look like it's going ok with apple gray screen and then all of a sudden you will get a black screen shut down, but it'll restart a second time on its own, don't be alarmed at that, just watch it happen and keep your hands off until it's finished.
After that you can use the software update feature to start adding updates because you will be back to your original OS without updates. Just add the updates you are confident that worked ok with your machine and stop at the ones you are unsure of.

i seem to have a problem with my imac-g5. it looks like this: weird black boxes appear, that where not there before and in the apple-menue the commandos to switch off, restart and change user are double. anyone got an idea what is happening?

no, I have no idea what it is. But here is what i would do as fast as possible:
BACK UP EVERYTHING which you want to keep!!.
Then, when i'm already at that level, I probably would try to eliminate all sources of bad behaviour:
a) what happens if you reset PRAM?
b) what happens if you reboot in "safemode"?
c) what happens if you boot from the install-cd?
If things go really wrong, consider (as an ultimate step) "ERASE adn Install", but be sure that you have everything backed-up. Then, after installing successfully and having checked that things work fine, I would reinstall one item after the other, and everytime recheck that things are still ok.

Strange things happening on imac startup. Need advice! (pre 10.8.3 update)

Hey there!
So I turned my imac (2.7 i5 OS X 10.8.2 12GB RAM 1TB) on this morning and got no chime and black screen.
Held power button in to turn off, turn back on, got the chime this time but got stuck on load screen with spinning wheel thing (it stopped spinning).
Turned off again, turn back on, got the password screen but it wouldn't recognise my password.
Turned off AGAIN! Back on again this time starting as normal.
Went to check for updates straight after, tried updating to 10.8.3 and my civilisation game, the game update failed and it asked me to try again which I did and that worked, then turned off to finished the 10.8.3 update which then failed.
imac is now starting normally and everything seems ok apart from the fact that I'm still on 10.8.2 and the 10.8.3 isn't available in the app store any more.
Tried update to 10.8.3 via combo download on Apple site but that failed also, saying it could open the disk image or something.
Things I've done:
Checked and Repaired permissions, verified disk.
I recently install Eastwest Symphonic orchestra which I'm running with Logic Pro 9 and an iLok - This was working fine for a day or two.
imac now boots normally with my MIDI keyboard, audio interface, external hardrive and iLok connected.
So much stuff has happened to my imac today it's been crazy! With important projects in progress this in worrying from Apple!
Any suggestions for further action?

Changed my info, thanks for pointing that out.
I reset the PRAM and held the power button in to reset the other thing whilst the power cable was out. Booted normally after this.
Few questions:
How will re-installing the OS affect my system? Will all my files and data be intact?
If I do re-install which OS will I get? My imac didn't come with Mountain Lion.
Are you saying the update will work after reinstalling OS?
To someone who's never re-installed their Mac OS before it seems a little over kil, but if it's a common thing to do then there shouldn't be a problem.
Will let you know if it continues.
