Stretch/Zoom instead of resize/realign?

Wanted to know if (and how) to set up a flex application to
not resize, but instead zoom/stretch (or however you explain it).
For example, if I have a flash video that is 400 x 300, and I
resize the browser, the video zooms/stretches to fit the browser.
In a flex app, it resizes, but its not stretching/zooming, it is
actually re-positioning the components (and they all stay the same
size).
Is it possible to make the flex app stretch/zoom insted? If
so, how?
Thanks -

There's no quick answer to that, without knowing what you've
done.

  • Video Menus Stretched/Zoomed

I am exporting a HD video out of FCP for a background in a SD Project in DVDSP. I am exporting the sequence out of FCP to compressor and compressing it using the standard DVD: Best Quality 90 minutes - 16:9::: MPEG-2 6.2Mbps 2-Pass 16:9 setting. I have my menus in the inspector of DVDSP set to 16:9 and my project settings the same. However when i build and burn the project the menu's stretch way past a 4:3 or 16:9 tv...buttons as well. It is as if its being zoomed into the menu. ( and no I am not on Panscan). Any Advice?

The standard presets should have the frame controls set to auto. This should automtically resize your video to fit the smaller frame size. You can check the setting on the output file in your batch to see if they are different than the default preset. Check the geometry tab to make sure the image is not getting cropped (at least not more than 4 top and 2 bottom to compensate for the 486 vs. 480 frame size).
Do your mpeg files look correct if you view them with QT player, do they look right in the menu viewer in DVDSP, how about simulator? If they look right in all the places you can check them before you brun, but the burned disc is still cropping your menus, something weird is going on.
You might also try nesting your HD sequence into a SD sequence in FCP. You'll lose a little quality this way, but it might slove your problem for the short term.
    Hope ths helps.

  • Stretch(Zoom) in iTunes

I've loaded iTunes U video clip  and play in itunes  ,but I didn't see a zoom button to stretch that video on my macBook Pro.
It's only appear on Quicktime player .
I don't need a black bar on the left or right screen . for 4:3 clips.
How to solve this problem?  Just add a little button and some Quicktime feature.
It's useless to have a 16:9 screen display on macBook, if you cannot use .

Apple doesn't use the Apple Discussions forums for garnering product feedback or suggestions since this intended to be an end-user to end-user (i.e., users like you helping other users) technical issue support feature. • Hp split x2 trying to scroll in ie but zooms instead

just recently bought an hp split x2 computer, one thing ive noticed, not only with my hp tablet/laptop, but in all of hp's tablet/laptop range ins that when i try to scroll in ie whether it bet metro ie or desktop ie, it sometimes or often times register as zoom rather than scroll, this when i use my one finger to to flick or slide up to scroll!
ive tried this on several hp tablet/laptop products namely hp 11pavilion x2 the one in n3510 cpu model number 11-h010ca, tried it also on hp 13-p120ca the one with an Amd A6-1450 cpu
in all instances they produced the same result! sometimes i would scroll but ie would register it as zoom.
    can anybody help me?
i thought that it could be a windows 8.1 problem, but i tried this on an ASUS T100TA and i never encountered any of this problem with it! which leads me to think its an Hp driver problem!

Hi sugarqfx, welcome to the HP Forums. What is the model number of your Split X2?
Guide to finding your product number
Are you referring to the ClickPad, or the tablet touch screen? Either way, it could be the level of sensitivity for the reception of the gesture. One finger should move screens around, but 2 fingers are the 'Pinch' to stretch or zoom. This happens to me on products with higher sensitivity settings, as my middle finger is longer than my index finger.

  • Compressed Web movie looks stretched vertically instead of 16:9, HELP!

Hi guys, I shot some footage with Canon XL2, 16:9, 24pa.
After editing I put it in compressor 3 to make a quicktime 7 H.264 web streaming movie,
    with frame size 720x480,
but the movie is stretched vertically.
Can anyone help me with the settings to keep it 16:9.
    Thanks
    Zia

Just set the frame size to a Custom (16:9) aspect ratio in Compressor, and the pixel aspect ratio to Square. You find those settings in the Inspector window, under the Geometry tab.
Calculating the aspect ratio manually is pretty easy too, but when using Compressor, you can just let Compressor do the job.
    Width / 16 * 9 = Height
I would recommend implementing frame controls in your workflow too. Have a look at this post: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7309534#7309534

  • Microsoft ergonomic keyboard zooms instead of scrolls

I have a Microsoft ergonomic keyboard 4000. In Firefox 3.6, the zoom slider on the keyboard worked as a scroll wheel in Firefox. After upgrading to Firefox 4, the slider is back to the zoom function. I have tried several "hacks" and the slider acts as a scroll wheel in every program except FF.

Firefox 4 changed the window class from MozillaUIWindowClass to MozillaWindowClass.
    # In MS Windows kill the "itype.exe" process.
    # Open the command.xml file with your favorite editor as Administrator
    # Locate the UniqueName="MozillaWindowClass" AppName="Netscape" in the parent element "All". Mine was line 2967.
    # Change the KeySeq="ctrl add" and KeySeq="ctrl subtract" to KeySeq="pageup" and KeySeq="pagedown" respectively.
    # Start >> Run >> itype.exe
You can leave the everything else the same for backward compatibility.

  • How to time stretch a picture frame (not video) that I have panned and zoomed in Premiere Elements 11?

Previously used Premiere elements 11 and could zoom in on a picture frame, but also Time stretch it, so the zoom would be slow.  Cannot figure out how to do this in Premiere elements 11.  When I have applied the zoom, but go to right click on the picture frame, it does not allow me to change the time.  It stays on 100.  It will only allow me to change actual video clips.  Does anyone know how to really slow down the zoom on a picture frame, or a way to use the Time stretch like I could do in Elements 7?  Thanks!

    jshook525
I do confirm your observation on the Time Stretch Speed %/Duration available fields for a still in Premiere Elements 7 vs 11 Presets Horizontal 640 x 480 Zoom In.
If you want to go with Presets rather than manual keyframing of Scale property in Motion Panel expanded, then...
    1. Given your 5 second still on the Timeline.
    2. Drag the fx Effect Horizontal Image Zoom/640 x 480 Zoom In into the 5 second still on Video Track.
When you do that two Scale keyframes are automatically placed at the beginning and end of the  5 second clip.
    3. Change the duration of the clip, with one of the following
    a. click and drag to the right the right edge of the clip to increase its duration
    or
    b. right click the clip, select Time Stretch, and set the duration to the increased value....if you had been in 7 the Speed% = 50,
then the duration you would find is 10 seconds (00;00;10;00). Here no Speed% visible opportunity, just set the duration = 00;00;10;00.
    c. go to Applied Effects Tab/Applied Effects Palette/Motion Panel expanded, and move the 2nd Scale Keyframe to the the right. In this
example at the 10 second mark, the new duration of the clip.
"Presets" has its limitation - pan or zoom instead of pan and zoom, and other. In what needs to be done here, it probably would have been quicker
just to do the Scale keyframing yourself in Motion Panel expanded with the Toggle Animation technique Scale (for Zoom) and Position (for Pan).
There is more to all this, but for now let me know if any of the above could get your through to your goal.
    Thanks

  • Components will not resize correctly in Catalyst

    Download PSD: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/814249/campusariel.psd
    Download FXP: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/814249/campusariel.fxp
I am completely new to Flash Catalyst (any and all versions). I am currently using Photoshop CS5.5 to design and Catalyst 5.5 to import and translate into a flash project. I recently picked up a job creating an interactive application for a college campus. I have attached my two project files for anyone who can help to view to see what is wrong. I have also attached inline screenies for those who cannot/will not download.
Here is my problem: I created the attached PSD in Photoshop with what I thought were the correct layers and groups/folders. I am hoping to achieve the following effect: when a user rolls over the purple buttons, multiple similar copies of that button that are initially hidden beneath the visible one popup in sequence above the rolled over purple button.
    Ex. State 1:
    Animation/Action Sequence to the following:
The purple popup objects will have their own text content and will be buttons themselves that a user clicks to change to a different state with more specific information.
Not only am I unsure of how to create such animation/action sequence, my purple components (whether I actually convert them to components in Catalyst or not) will not resize correctly. NOTE: I did click the resizable option when importing the PSD into Catalyst. The following effect occurs both ways. I add constraints to all objects by selecting all, right clicking, and choosing add constraints to all; the following occurs when stretched inwards using the resize test handle:
    and this when stretched out:
When viewed using CTRL+Enter, the application is nowhere near resized in the browser window. I must be missing something, especially being new to Catalyst. I tried flattening the image in Photoshop, which obviously allowed the image to be easily resizable in Catalyst and the test browser window. However, I cannot use my separate elements when flattened; flattening defeats the purpose of Catalyst if I'm not mistaken.
    Any guidance?

Hi Martin - Those are really good questions! I did check and the image is uploaded. I assume I can see the image in my one browser because of the cache  since I could not see it on several computers that I had never pulled the site up on before.
And actually I have it working now. Nancy had a good idea to check to see if I saved it as CMYK instead of RGB. When I went to go open the file on my computer Photoshop and Fireworks had an error in opening it. They had a problem opening the one I downloaded from the ftp too. It just looks like somehow the file became corrupted! Not sure how, but that seems like what the problem was since I have a new image up there now and it's working fine again.
    Thanks for all your help!

  • Zooming limit for photo

    Hi
Can anybody suggest, whether there is any way you can identify the optimum zooming level for photos while using kepburn effect, it does the zoom irrespective of the photo size be it a small image or high res image. Because of this when you see the final movie some photos are pixelated and some are really good.
Or the only way is eye judgement, if it looks grainy then reduce the zoom level? I am expecting something like after certain zoom level it wont let you zoom further..!!!???
    thanks in advance
    Sanjeev

Also please suggest how do I know that I am making 1x
zoom and 4.4x zoom any tips appreciated.
We set the zoom with the zoom slider in the Photo Settings window. It allows us use a zoom from 1.00 to 5.00. The slider zooms in on the original image.
More clarification from Karl Petersen, the last line
in your reply is still a bit confusing for me as I am
amateur here. In the last line you say 'we want to
aoid enlargina the chunk we grab with the Ken Burns
zoom' can you please elaborate on this for me.
I was afraid someone would ask.
When we use the zoom slider we essentially crop the image — grab just a portion of it to display in the clip. The image that's grabbed is always 640x480, no matter what zoom we use and no matter the size of the source image. Hold that thought.
iMovie quality is sacrificed whenever iMovie must enlarge or shrink the content to make the 640x480 clip. We want to avoid that. A little enlarging or shrinking is okay, but not a lot. Creating a 640x480 clip from a 4000x3000 image shrinks it a lot, which isn't good.
Instead of using iMovie's zoom slider to crop, it's actually better to use iPhoto's crop tool — set to a 4:3 aspect ratio for a DV project, 16:9 for wide projects — to crop the image to the content we want, then export that cropped image from iPhoto to a 640x480 image (for DV) that we import to iMovie. That delivers the best quality.
If we do not resize the image before importing it to iMovie, the size of the source image — its height and width, in pixels — suggest the ideal cropping zoom for that image. An image that's three times wider than 640, for example, suggests we use a 3x zoom to avoid sacrificing quality. In fact, a 3x zoom is ideal, for then iMovie doesn't have to resize the grabbed portion used to make the clip.
If, on the other hand, we use a 2x zoom on that same image, iMovie must shrink the grabbed portion to make it fit 640x480. If we use a 4x zoom, iMovie must resize the grabbed portion larger, so it fills 640x480. Both sacrifice quality.
So whenever a source image is larger than 640x480 we should 1) crop it in iPhoto — cropping is optional — then export it from iPhoto to an image that's 640x480; or 2) crop the image with the iMovie zoom slider set to avoid expanding or shrinking the cropped portion of the image. The ideal zoom is (the width of the image) divided by 640. iMovie lets us use a different zoom, of course, but it sacrifices quality.

  • How to "un-zoom" non-native resolution screen?

With older ThinkPads, I was able to display lower resolution output on the ThinkPad LCD at a 1:1 pixel ratio, instead of having it stretched/zoomed.
On the W520, I don't seem to be able to do it.  And so, the result is that the BIOS boot screen, and Windows boot GUI look rahter "blurry".
Anyone know how I can make the screen smaller again?

Someone was asking a similar question:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-and-Z-series/Y450-Screen-expansion-option/td-p/131647
It's Point 4 under section "Unsatisfactory video display on the ThinkPad LCD display":
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/diagnose-and-fix/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-4YQHUC
How come newer Thinkpads don't have this option?
Some people like the scretched look, some don't (me being in this group).  Especially in non-Windows environment, because text/fonts looks REALLY odd when stretched on a 16:9 display.

  • How do you resize pictures in cs5.5?

I just got cs5.5, coming from a much older version (not sure which)...
Previously, after I placed a picture, I could change the size of the picture by typing in the exact height or width. Now when I do that it crops the picture to that width or height instead of resizing it.
I have figured out that if I check the "Auto Fit" button, it works. But I typically am working with hundreds of pictures, and I don't want to have to check the box with every single picture. How can I do this???

On a picture that I had already clicked autofit, and applied an object style saved from previous versions, it resized it, but added a white border inside my blue border. but these same files are acting funny before i try this. Since there is an object style, it won't let the files be exactly 3 inches like i ask. every time i type 3 in the height or width box, it automatically makes it 3.11111. so when i try to type 3 in the scale field, it works, but shrinks the picture and adds the border.
your method does work for pictures that have not yet been touched, although i'm not excited about having to type in "in" everytime for hundreds of pictures. there has to be an easier way.

    Hello,
you got an idea how to make games run in stretched view instead of black bars on the left and right side of the screen?
I think this is called "GPU scaling", but unfortunately I haven't found such an option in the catalyst center yet.

can you tell us which game you want to play and the model of lenovo you have first?

  • Resize/Scaling issues

    Hi,
I'm having a weird issue with Illustrator CS3. In the past, when I was using the Move(V) tool, it allowed me to resize/rotate objects I had selected. Then one day, that functionality disappeared. So I started using the Free Transform(E) tool to take care of that action. However, when I have a text area selected and use the Free Transform tool to scale it, instead of resizing the box it scales the text inside the box. The only way to resolve this that I've found is to use the regular Move tool to thread the text into another blank text area and then press ctrl+z. This somehow liberates the text area and allows me to resize the area without resizing the text.
Does anyone have any idea about these problems? I'd be perfectly happy to reset all Illustrator controls to their defaults, if someone knows how to do that.

    Rixianne,
What happens if you Ctrl+H? If nothing, it may be time to

  • Zooming out with AffineTransform

I'm trying to create a generic container panel that can zoom and pan over arbitrary JComponents. Zooming in works fine. Zooming out is getting some odd side effects from the clip. Zooming out, then resizing the window doesn't show the whole image. The top and bottom are trimmed off, despite the large space available at the top and bottom of the window.
I've overridden paintChildren() to set the Graphics' transform. mutantGraphics.setClip(mutantClip) doesn't seem to matter; the clip only gets smaller.
How do I restore the clip to the larger size?

You'll need to modify the preferred size of your component as you zoom.
Typically, I would set the component's preferred size to fit the zoomed image (ie at 0.5 zoom the width and hieght would both be double the original size) and then stuff it into a JScrollPane.
At the moment you set the preferred size initially but never change it, so your image is being clipped by the bounds of the component - it can't render outside its bounds so the component needs to be at least as large as the view.
