Stuck on blue screen with clouds rainbow, floated ...

As it says.
When I start Skype, it goes straight to a blue screen with blue clouds and a green rainbow at the bottom. I get no prompt to login. I have followed various guides, such as renaming login to login1, deleting login, restarting the computer, uninstalling then installed skype (which gets me an error code 2734 I think), uninstalled and installed Internet Explorer. I have run windows update and everything is up to date. I also followed the advise in the floated topic, and even after using Command Prompt (which was not in Accessories folder, had to search cmd to find it) and restarting, the 'click this button' does not work.
Skype was working fine on Sunday, and now it is broken. The only thing I have done in the meantime is run a repair tool for Windows Media Player as a game I installed required it to play in game music.
EDIT: I use Windows 7.

Scripting in Internet Explorer might be disabled by an Antivirus software. What Antivirus software is installed on your computer?
Meanwhile you can try the “legacylogin” workaround, which should enable login to Skype using the old legacy login window. However, you will not be able to login using Microsoft account (email address).
Quit Skype. Make sure that you don’t see any Skype.exe processes in Windows Task Manager. If necessary, then stop these processes.
Open this folder on your computer:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\
You should see there the Skype application file (Skype.exe).  Right click on the Skype.exe file and select: Send to – Desktop (create shortcut). Right click on the newly created shortcut and select Properties and then the Shortcut tab. In the Target field you will see now:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe"
Click with your mouse on the text in the Target field and move your curser one space after the last quotation sign and add the text /legacylogin. The text in the Target field should now read:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe"  /legacylogin
Click OK to save the changes. Start Skype using this new shortcut. Can you now login to Skype?

  • MBP stuck on blue screen with spinning loading icon during update to 10.6.7

    I have a mid-2010 model Macbook Pro 13inch, 2.4ghz/4gb ram
I've been scouring apple forums and even reddit and my googlefu has yielded no such luck. Basically, System Update has been yelling at me for a few weeks now to upgrade to 10.6.7 (among other updates) and I've been putting it off and putting it off, with the intention of eventually doing the update, but I just kept forgetting.
Finally tonight, I remembered, and decided to open System Update, and do all the recommended updates that it was asking me to do. So, without thinking twice (I've never had an issue with this before) I clicked download and install, and away it went, downloading like usual and then rebooting.
Thing is, it's been stuck at this blue screen with the spinning spiral coming up on 5 hours now. I know the 10.6.7 update was close to 400mb, but I've never had anything like this happen before.
My hard drive had more than 150 gigs free on it last time I checked, and it's been running absolutely flawless up until now.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it supposed to take so long? What do I do?
I've been contemplating shutting it down by holding the power button, but since it's a OS update I'm afraid the drive will be corrupted, and unfortunately I don't have a current backup of the drive either... Help

I left my macbook plugged in over night, we're now going on 14 hours of this blue screen with the spinning wheel/symbol. Anyone?

  • Powerbook won't boot - stuck on blue Screen with rolling pin wheel

Hi, maybe someone could remove my current headache.
My old Powerbook G4 is stucked on a blue screen with an infinite rolling pin wheel(just after the little mouse arrow appears and disappears).
    For the information:
    - I already did all the possibilities on this page without success:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1411?viewlocale=en_US#symp1
    - When I do Fsck in single user mode, it tells me that everything is fine with the HD
    - I also checked techtool pro v4: everything is fine with the hard drive and files
    - I can't start in safe mode
    - I can't put my computer in Firewire target disk mode - the Fireware icon screen appears but it doesn't mount on my apple dekstop.
    - I don't know where is my old PB G4 install disk, so I can't try that.

And, there in lies the solution. Without an OS disc to repair the OS you are up the creek without an OS disc.

I plugged in my new apple ipod touch to my computer and on my itune screen a box popped up and said, "new update available for ipod touch" so i clicked accept and then it said that it was updating and everything and the screen of my ipod turned a blue/black color and had the Apple logo on it. Then a bar came up right underneath the Apple logo and it started to fill in, but it was filling in very slow. I thought that the update came up because i had just downloaded some things from the apps store to my itunes on my computer, so i thought it was putting it on my touch. I don't have the original install disks to do any disk utility or even archive and install. Is there a way to get a copy of an install disk that will work? I was working with Tiger before, can I just go buy Leopard and do an archive and install or do I need the original one? Any help?
O yea, I can't do safe mode because I've been pressing shift when it starts and it doesn't change anything. Is there any other way to boot into safe mode, like doing it from the command line or something?

You can try the methods described in this article
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
Your profile says iMac G5, so you should be able to run Leopard. You do not have to install the original system first. An +Archive and Install+ is a good way to do the upgrade from Tiger to Leopard. However, if the volume has a disk directory (or other data corruption) error, you should resolve it before doing a major upgrade (or anything where a lot of new files are written to the volume).
If you contact Apple, you may be able to get a replacement disc for the one that came with your iMac model.
Do you have an external drive to which you can back up your current startup volume? It may have a startup problem, but it is probably still accessible, if you start up from another system on another volume.

  • Blank log in screen (blue screen with clouds)

    Hello,
I have already scoured throughout the forums and tried every solution I have seen to no avail.
I am running Windows 7, 32 BIT. Internet Explorer 11
The following is a list of procedures I have already tried:
-tried to register the javascript .dll files (both succeeded successfully but issue still persists)
-Tried to change permissions in c:\programdata\skype and in program files
    -Uninstalled/reinstalled
-Downgraded IE to 10, then 9, then 8
At this point, not sure what else to try. Please advise.
    Thanks

  • Stuck at Blue Screen with Appearing & Disappearing Cursor

    Hi.
I've been having this problem since a while ago. It happens randomly and I have no idea where to begin. The thing is, safe-boot always works to solve it temporarily, and the problem keeps coming back.
I've read about loginitems and i only have one item (ituneshelper) in the list.
I've already done a clean install but i'm still having this problem after using it for a month...
    Hope you can help. Thanks!

  • 10.6.8 update stuck on blue screen... 4 hours and counting

Upon selecting automatic software update my system seems stuck on blue screen with spinning grey gear.  How long should I tolerate this (going on 4 hours now) before attempting to do something?
I can access the hard drive of this computer from others on my local network and am able to copy files from it.  I'm wondering if I should try to grab all that is valuable to me before anything worse happens.
    Advise?

If your data is not backed up copy any important documents you can from your Mac's startup drive.
Once you are done copying your data, use the power switch to turn off your Mac and disconnect everything except a wired keyboard/mouse and monitor. Start up in safe mode by holding the shift key down right after you hear the startup chime. Keep holding down the shift key until you see the Apple Logo and spinning gear.
Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode Mac
OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
Safe mode will do some maintenance routines and checks/repairs the disk if needed so it will take quite a lot longer than normal to boot. Once your Mac boots restart normally. It will take a little longer than normal to boot but not as long as booting in safe mode.
If things don't work as expected install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo

  • Hi my iq504 has a blue screen with the logo HP won't do anything

i have a IQ504 touch smart pc and i turned it on and its stuck on blue screen with Hp logo please help

    Hello,
    Can you enter in BIOS?
If not, you can try to remove the power adapter and any device connected extenrally and keep the power on button pressed for 30 seconds.
Then, connect the adapter and try again. If it still fails, try to make a memory reset, remove them and try to boot the unit in that way, see if you have any beeps.
If the issue is still unresolved, try to disconnect the HDD and see what happens.
Issue could be related to power, memory or hardware failure.
    Let me know the outcome.
    Thanks,

  • I am stuck with a blue screen with Mac mini

One of the minis in my department is stuck on blue screen right after startup. I can see the grey apple but it gets stuck on blue screen. Other users in network can see the hard drive and connect to it, but the mini won't go to the desktop screen. Operating system for this mini is 10.4.11

Hi Boece, I tried the safe mode and it's not working. After I type in the password I get the message that it's logging in. The screen changes to blue and then recycle back to the safe mode log in screen. I know I used the correct password because if I purposely type in the wrong one, the window will just shake and clear whatever I typed in. Do you have any other helpful ideas? Thanks.

  • 10.5.3 won't install... stuck in blue screen loop

I chose to install it from software update. It told me to restart. I did.
I got hung up on a blue screen loop.
But no error messages or anything.
    I had to hard reset.
Then started up fine- but system profiler shows I'm still 10.5.2.
And software update still shows the update as "downloaded".
If I click "install" it immediately asks me to reboot, and sticks in the blue screen loop again.
I have done this three times now.
If I choose restart from the apple menu- same thing.
So I decided to shut down- can't shut down. Get stuck in the looping blue screen.
So it seems like something is gumming up the shut down process. I've heard of startup items making things freeze- can the same thing happen when shutting down?
Not sure what the issue is.
The other people posting problems seem to be getting error messages, etc.
I am going to try to repair permissions, and if that doesn't work maybe I'll try the standalone installer- but why is this happening? this is like a 2 week old MBA with next-to-no third party stuff installed on it... what could be corrupted already?
fortunately I have backups if worse comes to worse...
    Any other tips/thoughts?
    Thanks!

    Alexroet wrote:
should i try the standalone installer?
You could try, it's been known to sort system issues because it's fuller than the incremental "delta" update, so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing.
Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.
But if you can't boot into Safe Mode something is amiss*. Since, you are able to use your system (not stuck on blue screen, try this first:
Go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items and remove them. Boot normally and test. If not go to ~(yourHome)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving ~(yourHome)/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
*EDIT: You do have to hold the shift key for Safe Boot until you see the spinning gear, just in case you didn't do that.

  • Blue screen with rotating gear

I have installed a new hard drive in a mac mini PPC. When I try to install OS X from the original disk, I get as far as the language selection screen and then it goes to a blue screen with a rotating gear. I have left it there for an hour and nothing changes. I did make sure to format the drive before I tried to install. I don't know what to try but I am very stuck at this point.

    Matthew:
Check your formatting against these directions:
Formatting, Partitioning Erasing a Hard Disk Drive
    • With computer shut down insert install disk in optical drive.
    • Hit Power button and immediately after chime hold down the "C" key.
    • Select language
    • Go to the Utilities menu (Tiger) Installer menu (Panther & earlier) and launch Disk Utility.
    • Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
    • Select Partition tab in main panel. (You are about to create a single partition volume.)
    • Select number of partition in pull-down menu above Volume diagram.
(Note 1: One partition is normally preferable for an internal HDD.)
    • Type in name in Name field (usually Macintosh HD)
    • Select Volume Format as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    • Click Partition button at bottom of panel.
    • Select Erase tab
    • Select the sub-volume (indented) under Manufacturer ID (usually Macintosh HD).
    • Check to be sure your Volume Name and Volume Format are correct.
    • Click Erase button
    • Quit Disk Utility.
Open installer and begin installation process.
