Styling XML with XSLT Problem with javax.xml.transform???

I have been trying to make a transformation and seem to be having a problem in that javax.xml.transform can not be found while using jdk1.3....If I use jdk1.4, there is no problem....
Does anyone know how I can get things to work using jdk1.3???
(Description of what I am doing...1) Building XML Source 2) Setting up the XSLT File 3) Building Source Object 4) Build Result Object 5) Transforming the Data.....MY RESULT SHOULD BE AN HTML PAGE)
I have tried putting xerces.jar and xalan.jar in my CLASSPATH....but this still doesn't work....onyl thing that has worked is using jdk1.4 as my JAVA_HOME....
PLEASE HELP!!!!

PLEASE HELP....your advice here would be greatly appreciated.....

It's possible with a XLST?

Hi,
Yes you can do this via XSLT.
You can try similar to the one below:

<xsl:attribute name="width">
<xsl:value-of select="((./width) div 200)*(100)" />
</xsl:attribute>

I have not tested yet... Try it....

Hi all,I have just purchased new iphone but have difficulty in completing the itunes download with message : problem with Windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected.
Would appreciate help...its driving me up the wall!!

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

• Javax.xml.stream.XMLInputFactory problems with &

Hi all
I am using javax.xml.stream.XMLInputFactory to create an XMLStreamReader, which reads XML in from a database.
The problem is that when it encounters & entities, it is replacing them simply with &. When I then go to transform the XML with an XSL stylesheet, it fails with a parser error due to the presence of unescaped & characters.
Looking at the API documentation, I thought that setting the property javax.xml.stream.isReplacingEntityReferences to false would solve the problem, but it isn't. The line of code I am using is as follows: -
inputFactory.setProperty("javax.xml.stream.isReplacingEntityReferences", new Boolean(false));
Any further ideas as to what I am doing wrong or what else I should be doing?
Many thanks for reading and considering my post.
Kind Regards
Jon

Thanks for your continued posts guys...
Quote from DrClap: "So if you consider this to be a problem, you are most likely misunderstanding. Or is there a reason why you feel you have to know how the text was represented in the document it came from?"
Right, just to clarify, this is what I'm trying to do...
1. XML, complete with properly escaped characters (&, etc) is sitting in the database.
2. Next, I am attempting to read the XML into memory character for character via an XMLInputStream and so I still want &, etc, not just &.
3. Finally, I apply stylesheet to XML Now I do want the parser to decode the & into &. The problem is that it has already been done in 2 (above) so the parser in 3 falls over.
Thanks for pointing out that javax.xml.stream.XMLInputFactory is not a standard class DrClap - looks like it's back to the drawing board for me!!
Thanks

• [XML/XPATH] jaxen : problem with "parent" function

Hello
I have a problem with jaxen, when I try to use the XPath function parent :
When I try this :
import ...
DocumentNavigator dn=new DocumentNavigator();
try {
objet=dn.getDocument("TESTXPath.xml");
apath=dn.parseXPath("/Entry/Resultats/step/Population/individu/*");
result=apath.evaluate(objet);
System.out.println(result);
apath=dn.parseXPath("/Entry/Resultats/step/Population/parent::*");
result=apath.evaluate(objet); // ---> exception
System.out.println(result);
catch(Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
The first result is well displayed, but just before the second, I catch this exception:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.jdom.Element.getParent()Lorg/jdom/Element; at org.jaxen.jdom.DocumentNavigator.getParentAxisIterator(DocumentNavigator.java: 252)

However, the first query works good and I received list so I'm quite sure that it's not a problem of unfindable elements.
Finaly I can't be syccessful to use XPath parent function:
Either I catch an exception, or it returns nothing or empty list
Isn't the XPath syntax correct in my second expression ?
Can we do :
/.../.../parent::* ? ou //individu/parent::* ?

Thanks
I think so, but.
In fact I don't think I'm using different version of JDOM.
I use eclipse with jdk1.4.2.
I have downloaded JDOM-b10 and the only things I have done is to extract zip archive and to add all .jar files of the jdom directory in my library path.
Do this is the only version of JDOM I'm using.
All works perfectly excepted only the XPath parent method. It's strange that the other methods work fine.
I don't knnow how to solve this problem ! so if you can help me I be very thankfull.

• FCP XML to Flint - Problems with Time Remap

My Flint artist and I have had some problems with the XML Export and Import that we cannot figure out. The XMLs from FCP sequences that have variable speed Time Remaps applied show up on the Flint with those particular clips with the wrong in/out points in both the source and record times. Also, the speed ramp info doesn't show up properly.
We have followed the Flint manual to a T on importing correctly. Anyone encountered this or know a solution? Especially why it's throwing off the in points. It screws the whole timeline when that happens.
Thanks in advance.

The TimerEvent target is a flash.utils.Timer object and does
not contain a reference to your lblTimeUntil label.
Recode
trace("Seconds Left" + evt.target.lblTimeUntil.text);
to
trace("Seconds Left" + lblTimeUntil.text);
and you will not blow up anymore.
This code will display the count up till refresh.
public function onTick(evt:TimerEvent):void {
var minuteTimer:Timer = evt.target as Timer;
lblTimeUntil.text = minuteTimer.currentCount.toString();

I hope someone has a tip ....
Best regards,
Kristian Thrane

Hi Kristian,
I'm with some problems, a bit alike yours, but from what I've seen, I would recomend you to see type errors...does the atribute "isPermaLink" inside the "guid" tag, or "title" tag?
My problem is the opposite of what you have... I can place tag attributes in a datagrid, but I can't put in the same Datagrid the tag value. But I have no choice since the feed comes from a public webservice.
My feed is:
<search ver="3.0">
<loc id="BRXX1094" type="1">Aveiro, Brazil</loc>
<loc id="POXX0006" type="1">Aveiro, Portugal</loc>
</search>
<mx:DataGrid x="10" y="53" width="365" id="dgLocation" dataProvider="{wSearch.lastResult.loc}" itemClick="callService(event);">
<mx:columns>
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Localidade" dataField="loc"/> //This doesn't work
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Referência" dataField="@id"/> //This does
</mx:columns>
</mx:DataGrid>
Hope it give you any ideas.
Beste regards

• XSLT problem with img tag in Saxon

Hi,
Iam getting a problem with tag when transforming a document using Saxon transformer. In the input XSLT I have proper closing tag for , but the output of the transformation is not well formed as the closing tag for does not appear. I need to feed the output to a FO object to generate a print preview, but the output is not well-formed.
Kindly help to resolve the issue.
Kind Regards,
Abhinandan

Perhaps that is because you are generating HTML as your output? As I recall, tags don't have to be closed in HTML. So try generating XML instead if you need XML.

• XSLT-problem with sequence attributes

Hi,
in my XSLT-program (i'm a real newbie!) i'm adding dynamically attributes and their values to a tag, by using the following code :
<SUPPLIER>
<xsl:attribute name="FUNLOC">
<xsl:value-of select="SUPPLIER_FUNLOC" />
</xsl:attribute>
<xsl:attribute name="NAME">

</xsl:attribute>
<xsl:attribute name="LOCATION">
<xsl:value-of select="SUPPLIER_LOCATION" />
</xsl:attribute>
</SUPPLIER>
The problem is that the attributes in the resulting xml-file are alphabetically ordered. For instance :
<SUPPLIER FUNLOC="9522222" LOCATION="NL" NAME="Test vendor VMOI">
How can i arrange that the result of the xml-file is a sequence of entrance is taken, so

[email protected]

Hi Hans,
I think you're using ABAP-XSLT?!
If you do so, you can solve the sorting problem by using a 1:1 Message mapping after the ABAP-XSLT mapping. This resolves the problem that the nodes are not in the correct order.
In your interface mapping you have to configure 2 mappings:
1: ABAP-XSLT
2: Message mapping.
Of course this means that the total processing time increases a little bit.
I had the same problem with the sequence of my (ACC_DOCUMENT) idoc nodes, the ABAP-XSLT screwed up the idoc, but the 1:1 message mapping solved the problem.

Mark

• Custom PDF/RTF reports with Cocoon (problem with special characters)

Hi all,
I've setup application (APEX 3.0.1) with some custom PDF reports (using Cocoon 2.1.10),
I'm generating my own hierarchical xml structure, using query with xmlelement() and xmlagg() functions,
I cannot use built-in xml generator, because I need to get master-detail report with sub-grouping.
Everything works fine if data in report doesn't contains special characters like "&",
but Cocoon stops processing XML data when it found special character, following error is written to cocoon log:
INFO (2007-10-02) 12:34.16:828 [sitemap.transformer.log] (/cocoon/fop_post/) http-8888-1/LogTransformer: [startElement] uri=,local=PRZEDMIOT,raw=PRZEDMIOT

org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: XML document structures must start and end within the same entity.
This error occur when Cocoon process folowing XML entity:
<PRZEDMIOT>PPHU "T&M" Ltd.</PRZEDMIOT>
I tried to escape "&" character with CDATA section, but it didn't work.
I tested following alternatives:

<PRZEDMIOT>PPHU "T&M" Ltd</PRZEDMIOT>
<PRZEDMIOT><PPHU "T&M" Ltd.></PRZEDMIOT> --remove '<' and '>' characters
<PRZEDMIOT>PPHU "T&M" Ltd.</PRZEDMIOT>

but I still get the same error.
Can anyone help me with this ?
Thanks
Tomasz K.

Ok, I found that only '&' and '%' characters breaks Cocoon processing.
The workaround is to use replace() function and change:
'&' to '%26' and '%' to '%25', but I think that is a dirty way...
Other characters like " - 'double citation' are succesfully escaped with xmlcdata() function.
Perhaps someone know the simpler way to get Master/Detail PDF reports from APEX without using BI Publisher ???
Actually I have page process invoked by button, which generates XML data, post it to Cocoon with UTL_HTTP and save generated PDF to database table (for future use).
The same button invokes branch to URL with download procedure.
Standard APEX reporting is not very usefull for me, because I don't know how to generate "complex" documents, with several grouping sections.
I will be gratefull for any aid.

• Toplink with mysql: problem with blob size

I'm using toplink with a mysql database. I want to store some data in a blob.
In mysql there exist different sizes of blobs (in my case I need a mediumblob).
But if I create the scheme for the database with jpa/toplink it alway creates only a column with type blob.
I can explicitly tell the database to use a mediumblob by this:
@Column("MEDIUMBLOB")
But by doing this I limit my program to mysql of course, as this data type is not known to other databases.
Does anybody know a more elegant solution to setting the blob size?
for example with hibernate it can be done this way:
@Column(length=666666)

Looks like you are using JPA, and in JPA you would set the columnDefinition to the type that you want, e.g.
@Lob
@Column(name="BLOBCOL", columnDefinition="MEDIUMBLOB")
byte[] myByteData;
As you mentioned, this does introduce a dependency on the database. However, you can always either put the Column metadata in XML, or override it with something else later in XML.
The length attribute was intended and specified for use with Strings but I guess there is no reason why it couldn't be used for BLOBs as well (please enter an enhancement request, or submit the code to add the feature to EclipseLink). Be aware, though, that doing so at this stage is going to be introducing a dependency on the provider to support a non-spec defined feature.
