Subsequent device(speaker) detection over USB, results in new interfaces in the list(System Preferences- Network)

Hi,
There is a problem when device(speaker) is unplugged and plugged in Mac OS version 10.7.5
Every time unplug and plug the device over USB and re-plug, new interface is added in the list System Preferences->Network.
For example, if the device interface name is device20, when the device is plugged first time, system shows "device20" in the detected device list i..e in System Preferences->Network. But next time when unplugged and plug again the device name gets changed(device number gets incremented), i.e. "device21" will be displayed. So if repeatedly unplugged and plugged, the device number gets incremented everytime and added to the list as device22, device23,....etc. The list will grow with many entries if we repeatedly unplug and plug the device.
I am not sure why the system is behaving so. You help/support will be highly appreciated.

will it be possible to establish communication in between my device and app. Because camera conection kit only transfers photos and videos and my device doesnt have any audio/video data.

My MacBook Air (OS 10.8.4) does not connect to projectors consistently using a VGA/Thunderbolt connetor. The Monitors/detect displays box that I am used to never appears. Intermittently the "arrangement" window appears in the Displays System Preferences

None of that appears to be available with the new operating system and Airplay on. I am not sure why.

What size of drive do I need for the Recovery System? Can I use a USB flashdrive?

If you're talking about just the Recovery HD, you only need 1GB so use a 4GB USB thumb drive and the OS X Recovery Disk Assistant to create it.
If you're talking about the ML installer (installESD.dmg) use an 8GB USB thumb drive.

I have no music, two computers, no USB 2 port...and the list goes on and on

I am having several issues with my new 5th generation iPod. I would really appreciate the help of some intelligent soul out there...
First, I installed iTunes to my computer at home, which would did not recognize my iPod, even after I installed a USB 2 port. I proceeded to download songs under the impression that I could download these songs to my iPod from another computer if I entered my apple ID account information. My first question: Can I access the previously downloaded songs on iTunes from another computer and have it downloaded to my iPod?
Secondly, I have installed iTunes at my office computer also, which does recognize my iPod. When I sign on to my account, my previously downloaded songs are not visible in my library. Okay, so I got over that. I downloaded more music from the office computer and when I attempted to download the music to the iPod, I received a message that stated that music could not be downloaded. Basically, the message seem to indicate that the iPod was not registered to the computer. Second question: Is there a way to download music from another computer if you have already established an account with a previous computer?
Now keep in mind that I have read every manual and I have gone through every self-help technical support suggestion. I have contacted the Apple store and the Apple 1-800 number for technical assistance. I did not receive any information that was helpful to me at all, so I am putting my faith in the people...Please help me, all I want to do is listen to my music on my iPod.

When you say download, does this mean you purchased them from the ITMS?
If you did, you need to get the music into iTunes on this computer.
Log into the iTunes Music Store.
Play the song(s). They will now be "authorized" to play on this comuter.
If they are not DRM protected (just ripped from a CD), then no problem. Just add/import these songs into iTunes.

They are not visible because they are on your other computer.

If they are rentals and you downloaded them directly on your old iPad then that is the only device that you can watch them on - rentals are one-time only downloads, and those that are downloaded directly on a device (as opposed to a computer's iTunes) can't be moved to another device or computer.

USB devices not detected in VMware [SOLVED; Using Virtualbox instead]

I am running Arch as a host and XP on VMWare workstation 7. My primary purpose of installing XP on VMWare was to use my edit my Line6 POD (behaves as a usb sound card) and get my USB TV Tuner box to work. The big problem that I am facing is that VMWare is not detecting any USB device (not even my USB Hard Drive).
I have the usb controller installed.
Any suggestions?

I don't know vmware but with other virtual machines there is often a configuration option whether usb drives should be automatically mounted or not. Sometimes automounting also only works if the vm has the focus, i.e. is the active window.

IPhoto does not sync with iPhone over USB anymore

I'm using iPhoto '11 (9.4.2) on OS X 10.8.2 and an iPhone 4S (now with iOS 6.1.2).
A few months ago when I connected my iPhone over USB iPhoto would start and do the expected workflow as it still does when I connect any other camera: Import the new images and delete them on the iPhone.
Since around I installed iOS 6 on the iPhone iPhoto will not start anymore when the iPhone is connected. When started manually it will show the iPhone but not recognize any new images.
I don't (want to) use Fotostream.
I have looked for other answers and the usually suggested restarting / resetting has not helped.

It sounds like you are not able to print to your printer because it keeps timing out when you try. I would use the troubleshooting steps from the following article to help you get that printer going again. It may be something as simple as re adding the printer if you've already restarted both the printer and the computer already:

Using a G5 with Lion 10.7.4. Using boot camp have installed windows 7 in an equal partition and it appears to be running alright. Problem--no sound.
My Lion install was from a online download. Since then have made a bootable usb. How do I install the windows service preferences from Lion?

Not on a G5 because a G5 is a PPC machine and won't run anything past Leopard.

Late 2011 MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion - Have two external displays (one MiniDisplay, one VGA-USB), how do I rotate just the one screen?

The primary, horizontal monitor is connected by the VGA-MiniDisplay adapter, and the secondary monitor (vertical) is connected with a VGA-USB adapter. They both connect fine, but I only have the option to rotate both at once. That is, the main 'System Preferences' window that shows up on the primary monitor has the option to rotate, but only there -- when I rotate that screen it rotates both.
Also, I'm not going to be using the actual MacBook screen. Any ideas as to how I can get this to work? Thanks!

The Apple TB displays I've seen come with two TB connectors. You can cascade them in daisy-chain fashion.
However, you are limited to how much information the GPU can produce and store. I've been told by the local apple shop (not an official Apple Store) geeks that if you cascade two of the big displays onto one of the Macs (big models), both will fire up, but the Mac's internal display will be disabled. Apparently 1GB of VRAM isn't enough for so many framebuffers.

Detect if there is a new version for an application

How can I detect if there is a new version for the application?.
I want to know if there is a new version, and then restart the application to take the new version.
Is there an API for JWS or something similar to detect this?

You can also specify that a jar should be updated on the server side by using the version="" tag on each jar resource. You also need a version.xml file that specifies a list of possible version numbers.
Having said this, I've yet to try it out. Have yet to find decent documentation on how to get it working (anyone?). But it sounds like a good idea since there are definite problems with the regular update mechanism.
For example, I've found that if my client tries to update while a copy of the App is running it won't work. Not only this, it seems to never work again until the client removes the App and does a full update again.

USB Devices Not Detected and High CPU Usage

Hello, I'm using arch on a Dell 1720 laptop.
I have some weird issues involving detection of USB devices.
When the laptop is on battery and I plug in a USB mouse the power flickers on and flickers off again; nothing in the logs/dmesg.
If I then connect the AC adapter the reconnect the mouse, the same happens, except the CPU usage hits 87%+ on one core.
Running
sudo rmmod ehci_hcd
solves the problem; the CPU usage drops and the mouse gets detected.
Subsequent attempts to hotplug USB devices does nothing, no high CPU and no Power.
Rebooting the computer is the only way to use USB devices at the moment.
usb-autosuspend is disabled in laptop-mode.
uname -a:

My USB devices don't even get detected, so that script won't work.
Last night I hibernated my computer after not using any USB devices, on resume, my CPU usage was 100%, removing the ehci_hcd module fixed it.
Any more ideas?
I'm tempted to build a vanilla kernel...
